Oh how the mighty have fallen. This is the second time in a row that I've been disappointed. I ate at Alexander's today, Sunday, at 12:30 PM. The salad bar was ok (smaller than it used to be), the baked potato was ok. I ordered the filet kabob. I ordered it medium but is was well-done to burnt. You can see that I did take one bite. It was not only tough, overcooked, but it was miserably tasting. I don't know if it was marinated or just way too much pepper. I told my server that the meat was inedible. Her reply was, "Would you like a box to take it home?" Also notice the picture of the parking lot. That should have given me a clue. That photo was taken 1 PM on a Sunday. Father's Day 6/19/22 I was hungry for a good steak. I did some internet research and came up with Alexanders in Peoria Illinois. My wife and I arrived at 11am. They were just opening and it was already getting busy. Mike our waiter took our order. My wife had a 7 oz. filet and a baked potato and I had a 16 oz. filet, mushrooms and baked potato. While waiting my wife and I went to the salad bar and it was fantastic. After we finished our salad Mike brought our steaks, they were cooked to perfection and so were our potatoes. This is the most unique, fun steakhouse I've ever been to!!!! I moved away from Peoria and love coming back here every time I'm back. We came back this time for the happy hour deal- the have smaller portions between 4-6 pm. One thing to note that with chicken it says 2 pieces but you only get one. The salad bar is always fresh & expansive! I like all the bread & baked potatoes on the grill. I don't understand why people go here & don't cook the steak themselves- it's all part of the experience!!!! I have tried to find restaurants of this sort in other places where I lived and still can't. Located right off the river in a rustic old factory, they've taken this artifact and transformed it into a vibrant, bustling establishment. I visited with a large group of coworkers right at opening. Being from a Chicago, I didn't get my hopes up about the steak - it's hard to compete, honestly. I was pleasantly surprised!! I ordered the ribeye and it was cooked perfectly. It was incredibly juicy and perfectly seasoned. My broccoli was steamed just right, my inner kid was pleased. We had artichoke dip and others enjoyed filet kabobs, shrimp and salmon. I heard no complaints! Our waiter was new and attentive so service was on point. So, the chefs took great care in taking care of our food preparation. Obviously, this is the best place in town. There were NO parking places available. We've been to Alexander's multiple times, but sadly it becomes worse each time. We must be gluttons for punishment, and always hope it's better. The steaks great cuts, but no seasoning. I always order mine medium well. It either comes out still mooing on the pasture with a pulse or burnt to hell. The baked potatoes are always ice cold, but the salad bar is pretty darn good, even though I want steak and not a salad. I like dining there because it's near the water, the Staff is very nice, and the building has alot of history. I'm sure we'll try it again sometime. read more

My wife and I spent our 8th wedding anniversary tonight at Alexander's. We requested and received a table in their enclosed patio. The ceiling fans were on high speed so the air circulation was amazing. As always the steaks were tender and flavorful. Patricia our hostess was the best. We didn't need them but there were pedestal heaters for when it's chilly. The salad bar requires you use a hand sanitizer prior to using. Plastic gloves were also available. All the staff wore masks. We just moved to Peoria and Alexander's came highly recommended. After looking online at the menu we saw how expensive it was so expected a fancy steakhouse like ambiance. It was VERY casual and had more of a vibe of a sports bar(which didn't bother me). We ordered a filet of beef and swordfish. The filet was under seasoned and overall very basic. The swordfish wasn't terrible but I wasn't impressed. They charge 1.75 extra for a small piece of broccoli which was upsetting. At this price point you expect A LOT more. read more

OK, this is gonna sound silly but tonight (8/10/21) was my first visit to Alexander's. It won't be my last. From the greeting upon entering to the high-level of service by an entire team of staff, the experience was nothing short of exceptional in every way. My margarita was one of the best; the ribeye was tasty and cut like butta; creme brulee and fresh coffee (so thoughtful) after the meal was perfect. Recently taken to this restaurant for my birthday. I ordered t-bone steak rare. Menu states that it was 18 to 20 oz it did not seem that large. Steak was not as tender as I expected. I had the pleasure to check out this place while on a business trip to Peoria. This is a really funky steakhouse where you can simply place an order and have your steaks prepared for you, or you could pick out and cook your own steak. Service was outstanding! Our server was very friendly and helpful. He made suggestions and was great at up selling the various features of the restaurant. We even joked with him that we have an desk for him at our office if he ever wanted. They also have a pretty wide salad bar. I'm a ceaser salad man, but this is the second place I've been in the mid - west in the last week that doesn't have either ceaser dressing or parm cheese. Oh well, I still made a good salad. Next up, I chose to grill my own steak. I went with the Kansas City bone - in strip. I chose this steak over others because I've never had it before. It was similar to a New York strip, but I think I should have gone with a rib eye. Anyway, I picked out my steak and made my way up to the large brick pit where they keep a large lump charcoal fire going. There are several different spices to choose from; I went with simple salt, pepper & garlic. I then threw down my steak and sipped my bear with a couple of coworkers like we were on a cookout. They also had some bread and butter to toast. I waited until my steak was almost done before I made mine. As well, there are baked potatoes near the grill, but you could order french fries if you want. I went with the baked potato, I think it was done for a while and was a little cold. If I ever have the chance to go back, I'd toss it on the grill the last few mins my steak was cooking. The steaks were of excellent cut and where we'll marbled. The final product was outstanding (Lucky for me, I had a good cook)! All in all, this is a cool joint and I look forward to coming here on future trips to Peoria. read more

My in laws were super excited to go here. With all of the nice things they had to say about this restaurant, I expected...well I just expected something nicer. The food was average, the menu was unimaginative and the salad bar was reminiscent of a Sizzler (in the nice neighborhood ). I was expecting to see toppings for the steak options; carmalized onions, Bleu cheese, sautéed mushrooms...something! Our server was pleasant enough, but not overly accomodating.
