I've had Alexa's Catering from her food truck for about 5 years and it always hits for me. I've tried almost every item. Some are good, some are so so. However, if you have the imagination to create something or have a specific request or add on preference, they will do their best to accomplish that. From lettuce wrapped tacos with loads of toppings (Al pastor and shredded beef are my faves) to their omelettes (avocado, sausage, spinach and cheese ), I am not disappointed at all. Rain, shine or even a flat tire, they do their best to be here for everyone. When you see the amount of customers they have standing at their food truck, you know it's poppin. I bring my lunch most every day but on occasion I forget it at home and eat at this food truck outside my office. There are people in my office who eat there every single day and love it but I don't like it that much. I wish I did because the prices are really good if you like what you eat and they have a huge menu. The tortilla and albondiga soups are tasty with lots of meat but have so much salt. Once I had a breakfast burrito that had a bunch of eggshells in it. I took it back and they made me a substandard sandwich instead. I had some tacos on Taco Tuesday and they were cheap but not very good. Today I got a chicken wrap which one half was almost all lettuce and fell apart immediately. The other half was decent and had more chicken and also had cheese which wasn't on the other half. I think I give up. read more

Alexa is probably the nicest food truck operator I've ever met. She remembers your name and your order once you've ordered a few times. All of her staff are really friendly and they make some really good food! Alexa has pretty much everything on the menu and if it's not on there, she'll most likely still make it for you. The prices are really good and the food is really good. On Taco Tuesday you can get any taco she has for $1. Why pay $3-$4 per taco at another place when you can get really good ones for $1! Alexa accepts credit cards, cash and now Venmo which is awesome. Alexa also makes hundreds of breakfast burritos for our company every few months when we have a breakfast event and they are all really good! I've come back here a few times now and it confirms that this is a pretty good taco truck (in Irvine, that is) for a lunch pit stop. I've tried the tacos with carnitas and fish, both were good. I liked how they use guacamole on them. I also tried the carne asada torta. I like how they season the carne asada and on the sandwich they put lettuce, tomatoes, jalapenos and also, sour cream. I enjoyed the sandwich especially because they toast the bread! The whole sandwich just didn't taste like it came off a taco truck!! Yumm!!! On Tuesdays, they have $1 tacos. Their adobada and asada was pretty good and their chicken was good too! I just didnt like the carnitas or shredded beef because I dont like shredded meats. All tacos came with fresh avocado! I also tried their california burrito! It was pretty good but it was a bit too salty and there was no pico de gallo to help tone down the saltiness. iCinco de Mayo! What else would a Korean man eat other than Mexican food? Nothing! My colleague's apartment complex has a different truck come every Thursday and when he found out Alexa was going to be there, he invited me over to grub. And grub we did. Between the two of us, we ordered six tacos (two each of the carne asada, carnitas and al pastor), a breakfast burrito and carne asada fries. And that was just as an appetizer. No, I'm just kidding; that was our meal. Relax. The tacos were good; they all came w/ onions, cilantro, guacamole and salsa. In all honesty, they didn't blow me away with flavor, but I enjoyed each one, especially the al pastor. I've had al pastor that was way too salty, but this one tasted really good. The breakfast burrito was a bit smaller than I'm used to and it also didn't have too much flavor, but I liked it. I'm a sucker for breakfast burritos, so I would probably order this again... but I wish it had a bit more personality. Looks can only get you so far, know what I'm sayin'? Finally, the carne asada fries, in my opinion, stole the show. Generous amounts of carne asada, cheese, guacamole and sour cream were given, but the thing that stood out to me was how the fries remained crispy throughout our meal. The fries themselves aren't anything out of the ordinary; they're basically the Ore-Ida fries you can get at a market, but they were perfectly crispy. 3.5 stars. So I have a story for you guys. This food truck is parked outside my office at like ten a.m. everyday. This review is about three of their menus items. First day I was here I heard rave reviews about the Breakfast Burrito. After trying it for myself I'm convinced my coworkers either don't have very good taste buds or they're not really used to good food in general. The first bite, it was gummy and it was if I was eating cardboard scrambled eggs. So I tried it with the sauce they give you upon purchasing it, and that scorched my tongue. Then I got to the bacon. It was hard, oily and tough to chew. So death to the breakfast burrito. Waste of four dollars I could have bought two monsters with. Second day I was there I had the Steak and Egg Burrito. Let's just say you're better off eating a dried prune, chances are that'll have more juice and flavor. The protein was over cooked, tough, dry like the Sahara desert and the salsa sauce was very salty and spicy. I mean if you're going to make a sauce you give out to everyone shouldn't it be mild? Another four dollars wasted. The third day I went to the truck, I had heard from multiple people that the grilled cheese was amazingly delicious so I thought I'd give this food truck one last time to redeem itself. But sadly it disappointed just like the two previous times. I mean really? HOW DO YOU MESS UP A GRILLED CHEESE?!??! I went with the Wheat Bread Grilled Cheese. One side was burnt and chard while the other side wasn't even toasted. The cheese wasn't melted all the way and it was just horribly greasy. Yet another $2.50 wasted. So in closing and $10.50 later I've concluded that I'd rather make my own damn food than go to this food truck again. I'm thoroughly convinced this food truck should go out if business. A lot of times is more than that (she makes a stop at my work M-F). She always has her specials written on her mini white board. Some of the usual ones are taco Tuesdays and shrimp cocktail Fridays. She can also make you whatever item she has on her larger menu and you can customize it however you want. I had Alexa catering for my wedding cocktail hour. My husband and I thought it would be super cool to have a fun wedding and have a taco truck during our cocktail hour, so I started looking into tacos trucks on yelp. I got possibly 7 or 8 quotes (so many options around Orange County), and Alexa was still the cheapest one! I narrowed it down to 2 taco truck options, and I started texting Alexa. She is normally in an Irvine Business Complex during weekday lunch hours, so I texted her which day and time I can meet up with her. My husband and I showed up on a Wednesday afternoon, and we ordered a few tacos to try as well as some chips and guac. Right after I ordered, she asked if I was Jessica, and I said I was! So she said she was busy right now, but go try the tacos, and we can chat later when she was done with her customers. She even said we didn't have to pay her, too kind! We tried the tacos, and we love how she puts a bit of guac in her tacos. Definitely very, very juicy. We tried a few tacos to see which ones we liked, and honestly we liked most of them. We decided to go with Alexa for the cocktail hour. She charged us $2/taco, $40 for a half pan of guac, and $5 for a giant bag of chips and salsa. We told her 150 tacos, 50 shrimp, 50 carne asada, and 50 beef? I think? I can't remember, but I remember 2 red meats, and 1 seafood option, so it was a total of roughly $350 for the 1 hour of tacos for 150 tacos. When we met up with her after we ate, she was so sweet. She congratulated us on our engagement, and asked if we liked it. We told her we were going to go with her, told her the time and place, and what we wanted. She added it to her calendar, and just ask for me to confirm with her the Wednesday before the wedding. She didn't even need a deposit, she said just pay her that day. On my wedding day, she got there at 5:30 and started serving by 6PM. EVERYONE LOVED THE TACOS!! Even my mom, who doesn't really eat much Mexican food liked it! And I saw a lot of people lining up! When I approached her at the end of happy hour, she told me congratulations, and I said thank you and if she went over. She said she would have to do a count and let me know, but she was pretty sure she made more. We ordered 150 tacos, and she ended up making 288~ tacos at our wedding, one hour or so. I was so happy she brought enough to make more than 150 tacos!! I would have been so sad if it ran out. I even texted her on Monday to ask how much we owe her. And she got back to me, but I love that she didn't even ask for the difference right away. So kind, and I love that she did not rush payment at all!! After driving by time after time, I decided to finally stop and give it a shot. This taco truck is parked on the side of the street. There is always some people, or family, around munching on these little tasties. The prices are good too, about .80cents for most, if not all, of their items. I assume they add a little tax or something because my four carne asada tacos came up to $3.25, not bad .. not bad at all kids. I also love how they have different types of salsa for you, from mild to hot and red to green. Love the red hot, it went along great with the tacos. Alexa's catering comes by everyday to our business park off Commerce and El Camino in Irvine & they BY FAR have the best tacos! The carnitas taco is what really does it for me. It's $1.50 ($1 on Tuesdays) and it comes in a corn tortilla, & has guacamole, onions and cilantro. The salsa is a little spicy for me (yes, I know I'm weak sauce already!) so I always order it without. I think I've had a taco everyday this week for brunch!! I've tried some of the other stuff but they're all average & never really stuck. I do like the bowls of fruit, potato/egg burrito, and grilled cheese sandwich but not as much as the carnitas tacos. YUM! The prices are pretty low, which is great for my wallet. I love this truck. They are in my office parking lot just about every day. They make incredibly good tacos and only charge $1.50 for them. They 're even cheaper, $1.00 on Taco Tuesdays! The crunchy tacos are amazing. They fill a tortilla with your choice of meat, fold it in half and then deep fry it. After it's fried they will them with lettuce, tomato, sour cream and cheese. I've graced many a "Roach Coach" over the years and this is hands down the single greatest food truck I've ever been to. Straight to the point, get the Chicken and Steak Quesadilla, they'll make it half and half with sides of Quacamole, Sour Cream and Hot Sauce for dipping. At $3.75 it won't kill your pockets and its a nice filler. Pretty much everything else is on point at this taco truck,. THAT - and they have the staple dishes like fries, burgers, and burritos on the Daily. If I sould change one thing.. Alexa's is cool catering truck with a huge menu.. they serve Mexican food, breakfast all day [American & Mexican], and all types of sandwiches. I decided to try the chilaquiles today and they were really good. A full plate of chilaquiles, rice, beans, and two types of salsa for only $3.50. Even picked up a 20 oz Coke for only $1 more. The lady running the truck is really friendly and the service is fairly fast. This is the first truck I've seen that accepts debit/credit cards so that's another huge plus.
