This was absolutely delicious! I've also always had a soft spot for food trucks, but I've never really had rice dishes at one. This place really surprised us and I'm still dreaming about the grilled pork chops! Let's start by saying that the portion sizes are so huge! Xe Com Tam VH (VH Broken Rice Truck) serves the BEST COM TAM/BROKEN RICE! Com Tam Thành was my all time favorite... but this truck has been around since February 2024. I remember seeing them at Garden Grove Park and they were having specials on their #2- Com Tam Suon Bi Cha, broken rice with pork chop, shredded pork skin, and pork egg cake. The plate also comes with pickled veggies to balance out all of the meat. I have since gone to them about five times. You can find their promos on their Facebook page. They currently have a promo until 3/31/26 where their #2 entree is only $11 ($2 off)! All entrees come with FREE nuoc mat (cold herbal sweetened tea). Their NEW LOCATION: 15084 Weststate St, Westminster, CA 92683 (Off Bolsa and Magnolia, next to 168 Kho Bo near Asian Garden Mall) I forgot to take a recent photo of the food, but their portion sizes have increased. The plate is HUGE and they give you a giant pork chop and a fluffy pile of broken rice. I've also gotten the #7- 3 pork skewers $13. It's a little small, but grilled to perfection, with a smoky flavor. DO NOT get the tau hu ky (fried shrimp cake) $5. It is pricey for the size, and when you get it at restaurants, it's 100% shrimp paste. Here, it is mixed with pork. I've heard such great things about this truck and I've been wanting to try it for a while, but they moved from where they were by the high school. Now they're on West State near Asian Garden Mall. I believe you can call them to see where their location is if you're unsure. I randomly saw the truck on a Friday morning and was able to get food within five minutes. I tried the special which has pork chop, rib, egg, meat, meatloaf, and veggies. Price wise, it's about the same as a restaurant I would say. However, I feel like you do get a bit more food than a restaurant. I normally don't order the pork chop, but I was so happy that I did because it was very flavorful and tender. Everything on the plate was delicious. I ordered the shrimp patty (tau hu ky) separately. I wouldn't get that again. It wasn't worth the extra $5. Food was absolutely delicious and authentic. When my friend told me that there's a com tam food truck, I was skeptical tbh. It made me think it's probably one of those modern places catered to non-Viets but I was wrong! The meat was not only tender and superbly seasoned, I got 2 big pieces! For $15, that's amazing. I paid $18 for that. I will never support this truck again. Why are we even ordering off a truck anyway when there's so many actual good Com Tam places within a 1-2 mile radius? COM TAM XÌ GON is 10 times better and it's only about $13-$14 for way better quality and portion. To make matters worse, the ta hu kỳ was the worst I've ever had. Took a pic of that too. I've seen this com tam truck pretty often when I stop by My Thuan but then started seeing it on my TikTok and I knew I had to try it. We finally got the chance to go today after getting our hair done around the area. It's such a cute little food truck! My sister and I got plate #2 which was broken rice with bbq pork chop, shredded pork skin and egg cake. Each rice dish comes with a side of soup and you also get free nuoc mat just like you would in most Vietnamese restaurants. Service was quick as well! The com tam was absolutely delicious! They didn't skimp out on the meat so hopefully it's like that for all their dishes. I was kind of sad that I forgot to ask for them to add the fried shrimp cake because that's usually my favorite part of com tam. Com tam in a food truck with freshly grilled pork chops, heck yes. I can't believe such a concept exists so closely to me, but I will for sure take full advantage of it. I've tried most of their menu, but my favorite is the #2 or #3. Typically my wife and I will split one order of the com tam and then get her favorite item on the menu which is the Fresh Crab Soup. The pork chop is grilled to perfection and I love all the sides that comes with the plate. You have to order an extra side of the green onion cracklings for that extra flavor bomb. The crab soup has so many toppings and it comes with one of the best chili oils ever. Portions and price are super reasonable, they accept credit card and you can't really find this anywhere else. NO OUTSIDE SEATING BECAUSE THE CITY SHUT THEM DOWN FOR IT (for now). They're planning on putting the plastic tables and chairs out again once the cops stop watching! I got the #1 Com Tam Dac Biet $15 and I added fried shrimp cake +$4 and a side order of green onion +$1 but the menu shows green onion, crackings are both combined as +$1 but they only gave me the green onions because I only specified green onions and forgot to say cracklings. If it's written on the side order menu together wouldn't you think to give me the cracklings anyway? Kind of stingy if you ask me. They have actual broken rice here, so it's definitely authentic! I felt like the bbq pork chop didn't have that smokey grill flavor, it almost tasted like it was cooked over a pan, with some parts being overcooked and tough. The shredded pork floss was standard and the egg cake was good but nothing special. I wish the fried egg had a crispy bottom, but it was just cooked through all the way including the yolk which was a bummer. The spare ribs were WAY overcooked, tough and dry! The fried shrimp cake I ordered on the side for an additional $4 was SO thin, there was more skin than meat! And it was overcooked too! You could tell the skin on the outside was almost burnt which made the shrimp inside tough. Pass on this for sure! The fish sauce was good. The simple soup on the side had a strong essence of radish and carrot, with a small piece of rib on the side. I was surprised it was included! Every rice plate comes with a free cup of tea, it tasted like pandan infused green tea--pleasant, not too sweet, and refreshing. I also got their fresh sugarcane juice but it did not have enough flavor. It tasted like they added cane sugar to it so it tasted like sugar water (in a bad way). We couldn't finish this. I got the vermicelli with egg roll and grilled meat with sugar cane drink and got a free herbal drink. Service is easy, quick and friendly. The wait can be abit long and also if there a long line then the longer you waited. The food is good, tasty, warm and refreshing for the vegetables. The food was fine, but nothing special. They nickel and dime you for every little thing. And they act like I was unconvincing them SOOOO MUCH. when I asked for com ga without any pork products. Food truck with a clean chimney to let you know that good meat is being roasted here picked up the special and plenty of hot, broken rice with a rib meat and grilled pork the bi is placed separately where you can add on top to your desire. The pickled has the appropriate salty and sour combo to balance the flavor of the meat. The fish sauce can use a little tweaking maybe a little sour is needed but other than that, very enjoyable. also got the appetizers for extra ski meat that was worth the price. Relatively inexpensive nowadays for a good breakfast lunch or anytime broken rice meal. From ordering to pick up is fast my order went in Eileen against the wall played on the phone and in no time my order was ready.
