This is without hyperbole, but I think Senor Guzman might be on to something with his hard shell tacos. Most taquerias either have a hard shell that is either too greasy or so crunchy memories of capn crunch spark fear for your squishy gums. These hard shell tacos have just the right amount of crisp, slightly airy, but still enough oomph in them convincing you that they came fresh from the frying pan and not at all baked, allowing the juices of the asada to blend perfectly with the flaky shell creating a perfectly balanced and tasty hard shell taco. I also tried their al pastor with a freshly made tortilla. The freshly made tortillas don't lie. They're not batch made in the morning but on the spot. Mr. Guzman recommended I use they're pineapple "curtido". Fantastic! One of the most delicious and unique flavor profiles you'll find in an al pastor taco in Santa Ana. Their rice and beans are also made with love and taste fresh. Usually some taco places will skip on quality of the rice and beans and give you some ultra processed, plastic after taste version of rice and beans. Not here. As for the prices, not the cheapest place, but also not overtly expensive. The quality to price ratio is super justified. Also, the service was warm and receptive. If you're looking for something fast, casual, and a place that hits some fine yummy notes, Taquero Guzman is a great pick! read more

Used to come to this spot when it was Zamorano's and have come about five or six times since they changed to Guzman's. This used to be my fav taco place, but honestly the quality of the meat has gone down. I ordered ten tacos, two sopes, a California burrito, and some loaded fries all with carne asada as the meat. I ate my sopes first and thought it tasted a little different but didn't think much of it since it was still good. As soon as I took a bite of my taco I asked my husband if he ordered the asada as I asked, and he said yes. It straight up tastes like pork and smells like pork. I called and asked what meat they used and if they changed meat vendors because it doesn't smell or taste the same. They said they told their butcher not to send it so chopped* So so sad as this place is close to my house and used to be my favorite. I'm also 9 months pregnant (have come at least 3 times this pregnancy and gotten the carne asada tacos which were bomb), so maybe my taste buds changed who knows. Stopped by Taqueria El Taquero Guzman for my latest Taco Chronicles stop. It's a small spot with limited parking, but I lucked out even during the Friday lunch rush. I planned on getting 5 street tacos, but their handmade tortillas changed the game. They cost a little more but absolutely worth it. An a bit more fulfilling. I went with 2 carne asada and 1 al pastor, all delicious and super satisfying. A great find for handmade tortilla lovers. read more

Fantastic! The last taco shop that was here was great, and this one doesn't disappoint either. To start, I love that they have a visual menu, it's really accessible for a lot of people. We were just drinking past & decided to try this place. I had the Huarache with shredded beef I added Avocado. Very good! My friend had Birria Enchiladas. I don't like goat meat but I loved these. My husband and I have definitely found our regular local taco spot. The prices are extremely reasonable and in this economy?! I'll take it! The lady that helped us was so nice and explained the menu and told us the popular items. I got the taquero tacos (small street tacos) so I could get the most popular meats. The chorizo and al pastor were my favorite and I LOVE that they don't put pineapple in the meat, only on the side and you can opt for no pineapple. My husband got some taquero tacos, a sope, and a crispy queso birria taquero taco (see pictures). They gave us sliced cucumber and radish and lemon with each of our orders. We also got some guacamole and chips. That guacamole beats any fancy Mexican place out of the water. This guacamole was creamy and avocado was the star, not the pico de gallo. I am not a fan of veggie heavy guacamole. The salsas were absolutely delicious, very flavorful and a good spice level. We didn't get the habanero because were weenies. I also got a cucumber lemonade and my husband got an horchata, bit so delicious! My husband and I ate to the point of having to unbutton our top jeans button lol. I was sad I couldn't finish the last bite of my 4th taco. I will definitely be back (probably this week lol). read more

I was craving tacos and I found this restaurant on Yelp. I decided to give it a try. We ordered 9 tacos, asada fries, and a watermelon water. Total was around $48. I arrived home to be highly disappointed with the quality. The asada fries were tasty, but the meat was a lot of fatty pieces. The portion was also very small compared to other places. The watermelon water was okay, not the best. The most disappointing was the "birria" tacos. They were just shredded meat no consome on the side. We paid $4 per taco since we got handmade tortilla. I had to drench it in the salsa to somewhat make it edible. The salsas had no taste and weren't spicy. Unfortunately we will not be returning. read more

Been here a few times and enjoyed it. My partner is picky when it comes to food and could find nothing to complain about. We've had their handmade tortilla tacos: carne asada, carnitas, buche, cabeza and birria. All were excellent and authentic. We have had their chile relleno platters which were really tasty. El Taquero Guzman replaced Taqueria El Zamorano! I'm sad I wasn't able to try this place when it was El Zamorano. It was always closed whenever passing by, plus I believe it was cash only. Me and my boyfriend decided to come check the new spot out since we were craving a Mexican breakfast. We shared the carne asada breakfast burrito and the Menudo. The Menudo was really good but we both wished that there was more hominy in it. The burrito was good too but the carne asada was pretty chewy and not much inside the burrito except for meat, egg and beans. I was expecting a little more in it but I did enjoy all their salsas. Both the burrito and Menudo were $34 which is kind of wild to me especially since the portions were not much. Also fyi parking is limited with only about 4 spots. read more

First and last time eating here. Ordered 2 asada burritos and a menudo with Pata. I asked some lady that seemed like the owner how big the burrito was she said 12 in I was like okay good I'll eat half and save the other half for tomorrow. It wasn't even a 6 in Not worth $14+. The menudo that my mother Ordered not only did it not have Pata bit it was salty. Food is over priced for the low quality. read more

The only positive thing I can think of this place replacing Zamorano is the hours of operation, Zamorano closed at 4pm which was around the time I'd take my lunch so I'd purposely take my lunch early to catch them before closing. I tried Guzman a few weeks ago for tacos for dinner & was pretty disappointed. Anytime I try a new taqueria I try 1 of each of my favorite meats (asada, pastor, pollo & carnitas). Everything was just okay besides the carnitas, it was so chewy, almost seemed undercooked. Asada was the best one I tried but definitely doesn't live up to the quality of Zamorano. While I greatly appreciate the extended hours & service, I sincerely hope they work their kinks out with their food! read more

Really great authentic Mexican food and very friendly service. My husband had the lingua burrito, and he said it was one of the most tender he's ever had. I had three tacos, Asada, Carnitas, and the shrimp. They were all amazing, and the meat was also very tender. Salsa were delicious. This is a way from our home, but we will definitely come back.
