Had dinner tonight with another couple. Food excellent. Service spot on and highly recommend. Will certainly be returning shortly.

Two days ago, was my second time dining at Alex's. The first time was a few months ago, when I met a bunch of buddies there and we had a very good time. The food was worthy of the best restaurants. I had a salad, Chicken Parm, calamari, some vegetables, and an Old Fashion. I could write a book on the do's and don'ts when making the drink, as most places simply do not know how to make it. Alex's does. The food was delicious. A buddy who is a regular patron there suggested that next time I should try the steak. He said it's among the best he's ever had. This time, I tried the Surf and Turf and not only was the steak mouthwatering, but the lobster was just as good. Together, well...you won't find anything else better tasting. The icing on the cake is the staff. Extremely professional, they were attentive and well-versed in communicating the specials from memory. I cannot wait for my third visit there! read more

This place is a diamond in the ruff. This place is amazing but the outside doesn't have a view. The food and service here are excellent. Elio took care of us tonight. His welcoming demeanor and knowledge of the menu made for an enjoyable experience. The food here is really good. I got the Chicken Scarpariello which was fantastic 10/10. Ehhh, came in for a quick lunch with a colleague. Sat at the bar. Now I had plenty of time to sit for 25 mins until my train. A blue moon, water, shrimp scampi, chicken francese =$67 in North White Plains + $10 tip Never was served the food. I ordered an appetizer my colleague ordered an entreé and he actually finished his entire meal before mine came out. We sat down and ordered by 1145, To add I PAID FOR IT AND GAVE A TIP BEFORE MY FOOD CAME OUT! Not sure what went wrong here but it wasn't explained to me and I waited literally until the last minute. I left there at 1201 to catch a 1203. Never tasted or saw it. Bias? Maybe but hope someone cares but they probably won't. To be clear I ordered a meal that takes under 20 and my colleague (doesn't look like me) ordered a meal that takes over 20 mins. Just shame shame shame man Damn! read more

It was my first time there and the restaurant was very pretty. The list of specials was very impressive! We started off with mussels in white wine sauce and Alex's chopped salad. The mussels were plump and juicy in a wonderful garlicky sauce. The chopped salad was very unique, with green beans, bacon, roasted peppers and mozzarella. Served nice and cold, and lightly dressed. I'm still dreaming about this salad! For entrées, I ordered the calamari marinara and my friend ordered The lemon sole marechiara. I received a generous portion of calamari, extremely tender, in a thick marinara sauce. Just delicious. The sole was cooked correctly, with clams, calamari and mussels accompanying it. Loved it! There's nothing I didn't like about this restaurant! Service was impeccable, waiter was on top of everything. Bus boys were quick to replenish water and crumb the table. Not bad, however I'd like to have better dish descriptions the next time. My friend's rigatoni was far better than the fish I ordered, which was just okay. Rude, rude rude literally made a reservation got there on time. My entire party had not arrived within 5 minutes and they came up to me and said how much longer because we have this table reserved for the next party. I am sorry five minutes is too short of a window but even fifteen minutes would have been too soon. The restaurant was empty. It was absolutely the worst experience I have ever had. Placed in the corner of North Broadway and Fisher Ln in North White Plains, Alex's is an Albanian(?)-owned restaurant in North White Plains that's been serving really good Italian food for quite some time. We really like the location here- not only because it's Alex's- but because it holds sentimental value when hubs proposed 18 years ago and its previous restaurant was a New American spot, Sweetwaters. The menu consists of meats, Pasta, Seafood, etc and wine selections. There's no cocktail menu, so be on alert and let your server know your cocktail of choice. Both of our cocktails were STRONG. My 'Lemon Drop' was something out of this world and let me just say, just one, was enough to the job! On almost any given night B.C.(Before Corona), you could always get a good indication of how PACKED Alex's would be- because their parking lot would be filled to the gills. I searched long and hard for a last minute reservation in Westchester County with great food and decor. I called Alex's BY PHONE the day before my visit, and he said, "Come on by around 7:45pm." I was immediately drawn to the non-complicated hospitality. My visit was absolutely perfect for three reasons: (1) The food is fantastic; (2) the Staff is very attentive; and, (3) the parking is EASY. (If you drive a really nice car that you want to protect, you'll like coming here). One thing to consider: The view is no-view, whatsoever. If you want to sit by the Hudson, this in not the place. If you want great food and a palatial dining room; do not think twice. This place is good-good. (By the way, they have TV's in the bar area if you're a fan of most sports). read more

My parents have been coming here for a while now and have always said good things. Tonight we went as a family, all 8 of us with 3 kids (all under 2) and had an amazing time. It's hard to go nice places as a large group, especially with little kids, but they were so accommodating and we got a nice back corner section which helped. The place is old school Italian as the complementary parmigiano reggiano cheese and Italian meats arrive with fresh bread. Alex's Bar & Grill in White Plains is a favorite Italian restaurant of our close friends so we decided to try it last week. Although there was a Restaurant Week ongoing in White Plains, Alex's was not participating in it but we decided to go there nevertheless. I would rate the restaurant solid in all aspects- decor, food quality, service, and they have on-site parking which is almost always an issue when dining out in White Plains. The menu has the standard Italian favorites that you would expect plus many daily specials. The dishes were tasty and the portions were large and the service was caring and attentive. The short rib special over performed! The Chicken Scarp was above average. The bread is excellent. Value? I would say that it a bit expensive compared to other Italian restaurants in the area- but it is also a level above with items such as tablecloth service. $13 for dessert is a bit steep but since the six of us were sharing one dessert the service team was wise enough to send over an overside portion of very good apple strudel. That's the difference between ok and really good service levels. The overall experience was almost a throw back to the days of older style Italian restaurants- and I mean this is a good way. Will I be rushing back to Alex's Bar & Grill anytime soon? - perhaps not because there are just so many restaurants doing an identical menu that are closer to my residence. But, I also would not hesitate to go there again or to recommend this place to others. Very solid but not spectacular (see my review for Patricia's in the Bronx for spectacular). read more

Went here with a fairly large group a few weeks ago. Service was spectacular! Constantly refilled waters and whatever we needed. Break was to kill for. The oil dip was delicious! All the food came out fresh and hot. There was a very very long wait time between the appetizers and entrees but understandable for such a long group. I personally for egg plant parm with a side of penne alla vodka. The eggplant could have been more crispy. The penne all vodka was delicious and the sauce was nice and think. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. Only complain was red sauce was very sweet. All seafood appetizers came out nice and fresh. I've never had a lot of this seasfood before and I thought it was delicious! read more

The lump crab had such a foul odor that I almost left immediately however, I gave it another chance and order the steak, which came out completely raw and had no flavor. The food here is great however i have been met with a man (maybe the owner or the manager) who had a bit of an attitude upon entry. the last time i went there my food took a while to come and i even had to remind them about it and by the time it came i had to wrap it up to go ad i had already been there for about two hours. i would love to come back but things like that are kind of a dealbreaker. read more

Went to Alex's tonight to celebrate my Wife's 50th. We were greeted by the Owner Alex walking in and also leaving. A nice touch. I had Eggplant parmigiana which was excellent. My husband and I went to Alex's last night for dinner, and I have to say, the entire experience was OUTSTANDING! Alex, himself, greeted us at the door and seated us when we were ready after having a drink at the bar. We started with the fried calamari, which was prepared perfectly and the accompanying sauce, I wanted to drink all by itself. The best red sauce I have ever tasted. We also shared the asparagus with cheese in a lemon sauce; delicious. I had the bone in rib eye steak medium rare. Unbelievably delicious. So big I took most of it home for another meal. It came with assorted vegetables of roasted potatoes, string beans and carrots ... so perfectly cooked and presented. My hubby had the special of sautéed soft shell crabs, that he practically licked his plate clean as he couldn't get enough. Wait Service decent The place feels antique but comforting but might not be sexy and appealing compared to the modern and youthful places nowadays. Food, Calamari Marinera; Big portions, soaked in sauces. Flavor slightly overpowered by the sauce, and brand. Overall food is 5/10. Dessert: Cake Pudding 8/10, very delicious and well presented. Alex himself greeted my 3 friends and I. we were a party of 5 originally on our reservation. en route to restaurant a friend cx. we arrived and Alex, the owner was the rudest, most uninviting person I have ever met. He expressed he was angry that now we were only a party of 4 and he has to make money. He was outright belligerent, quite frankly terrifyingly angry. He came to our table and proceeded to argue very loudly. I shared how his behavior was an unacceptable and a disgrace and that if it wasn't 2 degrees out we would find another place to go. He responded,"leave, I don't care leave." How dare he behave in such a manner to 4 grown woman. with that said, I will not return and do not recommend this restaurant. read more
