What was supposed to be 3 days turned into over a month, and the problem I brought to them wasn't even looked at. Instead, a bunch of stuff that could've waited. 3 days after picking the car up (after a month) the car broke down because of the issue I had the car towed to them to fix. Every time I show up (about 4 times now) they always have an excuse. Update...after a year letting my car rot in the rain and sun (it HAD a cover when we left it) they still never touched it. A horrible business, horrible communication, and a huge waste of time. We needed the car to run so we could sell it to pay legal fees, they even promised that they could sell it for us. They did NOTHING but make empty promises, and leave the car a wreck. There were parts all over the floor when we finally picked it up (after all that time in their possession, they finally told us they didn't have time for it, come get your car.) Hurray! Been searching for an Alfa Romeo service shop to do my break-in oil and Alfa Performance Connection was it! Stewart was incredibly responsive and patient with my inquiries through Yelp messaging. AND his price was very reasonable, only ~$110!!! For the oil change! Wow! The dealership would've charged $260+ for this. I made an appointment during my Yelp conversation with Stewart, easy enough. Came on Tuesday morning and stayed in the waiting room. Within 50 or so minutes, my car was done and I was on my way. Card/cash accepted. Tons of magazines and merchandise to browse/purchase in waiting room. I took my 67 Alfa Duetto to APC and could honestly not be happier with the results. I have owned this car for almost 20 years and was on my last nerve trying to get the details worked out so I can drive. The car has duel webers and for the life of me I could not get them to sync up. I was honestly afraid to take my car to APC because I thought I could not afford the cost of having them work on the car. I called and spoke to Stuart Jr., I told him the problem the car had and he gave a real acceptable and manageable estimate to repair it. As it turned out out my car had a lot more issues then I was aware of. At each step Stuart called me, explained the issue, explained the cost, did not put a huge up-charge on parts (if any at all). The experience in that shop for working on Alfa's is priceless. I'll give one of many examples. My car was draining the battery when it sat for a few days. I have the fan/blower unit out of the car and though the issue was wires touching or shorting when the car was off. I actually had a guy look at it in my garage years ago and he said he fixed the problem. As it turns out, the windshield wipers were not seating correctly and were draining the power from my battery at night. I would have never been able to figure that out, it is something only someone who works on these cars for decades even thinks to look for. I had another Alfa shop work on the car years ago. They said my distributor was no longer any good and talked me into buying a modern distributor for the car. Stuart advised me to bring back my "old" distributor and he replaced a few parts and put it back in. The car ran amazing with the old distributor. The "new" or "modern pointless" distributor is sold by a Alfa parts supplier, but the part is actually built for VW engines, it does not advance in the manner recommended for my car. Stuart knew this information, the other well known Alfa shop was uninformed. In the end Stuart tells me, the car is running at about 95%, due to not driving it for years, it needs a few tanks of gas to clean stuff out and get the running nice again. I honestly was a little put off by this statement. I thought he was done trying to get it just right and figured I didn't want to spend any more money. I took the car home, I drove it every few days as he recommended, the car has actually started running smoother with the more I drive it! This review is after having the car at home for about 6 weeks. I will never take this car to anyone other than Stuart Jr. at Alfa Performance Connection. read more

HONEST, extremely KNOWLEDGEABLE, and very fairly priced. What more can I say? Finding all of these three in a shop feels next to impossible. Alfa Performance Connection is it, though. Came across a glowing recommendation to APC on the Maserati forums, so called actually asking for a referral for San Diego. Spoke at length to Stewart Jr. on the phone, and I was so impressed with his knowledge and willingness to just talk about the car that I hauled myself up to Orange County for service on my 2014 Mas QP GTS. What I noticed while having my car serviced (during my wait/hang-out time) was that several regular customers stopped by, to discuss work needed, to pick up parts ordered, or to discuss a current project. I'm already into cars, but I learned a bit more just by listening that day. As well, I was able to go over certain things with the mechanic on my vehicle, have a hands-on discussion about the rotors (which I don't need to replace yet) and the under-panels, and overall just got to know my vehicle that much better. Stewart and I even discussed their oil choice, which is top-quality, and the differences between it and what dealerships typically use (again, goes to knowledge). Price: very reasonable. Recommendation: if you want to put your Italian automobile in quality hands, desire to have a good discussion about it and possibly even learn something, and are ready to be pleasantly surprised by a very reasonable price compared to dealership, ABSOLUTELY turn to APC. BE ADVISED THIS IS MY FIRST EVER SUBPAR REVIEW; AND, I AM A FREQUENT EBAYER!! I own an Alfa Spider. Recently, my car had experienced electrical problems and it became apparent that I had to get my switch box replaced. Also, had to fix the air con. So, as any Alfa owner knows, knowledgable and fair mechanics are hard to come by. APC came highly recommended by several other owners on the Alfa forum, so I decided to give them a shot. Below, I will chronicle my experience. I will try to be factual and leave my opinion for the end. Dropped of my car and was told they'd call me in a day or two. Four days later decided to give them a call. They told me that they had just opened it up and would give me a call about details later. They hadn't called by day 7, so I decided to give them another ring. Steve gave me a heads up on the progress and apologized for not calling. They had been experiencing a high volume of business. Day 14 I call them again. They say they've fixed the switch box and are starting on the air con. Apologized again that it was taking so long. Got a call on day 21 that my car was ready. It took 3 weeks to complete the job. So, I went to pick it up that day. I paid nearly $1000 (which I thought was fair), for the completed job. Not five miles away, I realized that the instrument panel and radio did not work. So I immediately called Steve back to ask why. I was told that the parts were bad and that it would cost $450 to fix the problems. He reccommended that I mull over my options and bring in the car at a later date if I want to get it fixed. Here are my issues: It took 3 weeks for the work to get "done." All the while, I had to inquire about what was being worked on and how much I was on the hook for. I hate being pushy, but I think an update would be nice if it is promised. THE CAR LEFT WITH AS MANY PROBLEMS AS IT CAME IN WITH... I was annoyed that they knew there were issues but let me drive off the premises without them being fixed. FOR THE RECORD, I HAD HAD ZERO PROBLEMS WITH THESE TWO SYSTEMS BEFORE I DROPPED OFF THE CAR. I understand that this car is 20 years old, but I think it's more than coincidental that two electronic systems go down after you do some electrical work. So, pondering what recourse I have, I have come to the conclusion that I will no longer be giving this establishment my business and would encourage others to do the same. The bids price went up 4 times, over 100% more than the original bid. we should walk away at this point but we still believe they can do the job and was refereed by friend. so we agreed with one condition car must be ready for the show on time. On 4/29/13 APC claim they can't do job and demeans us to pick up the car the same day. At this point our main concern was the safety of our car. We picked up our car on 4/30/13 and pay all fees they ask of us. Leaving us with only 2 weeks to make it to car show. I brought my 1969 Alfa Duetto to APC, they collected a 3500.00 fee upfront to begin restoration. Stuart did not restore the vehicle. He held the car for three years. Requested more money for supposed work. All work was redone at another shop after I retrieved the car. Many parts were missing and we had to go back to even retrieve the keys. He had to refund $3,764.50 to me after he lost in a small claims court. It took another shop only three months to complete the restoration. Can't say enough good things about Stewart and his crew. Bought an out-of-state '82 Spider out of SoCal on BAT and sent it to APC sight unseen to see what needed to be done. Stewart was prompt, direct and clear about what was needed and why, his prices were more than fair, and the work was done right and finished on time. Rebuilt the brakes, replaced the engine mounts, repaired the driveshaft, heating and cooling systems, tuned the car and got it smogged, and did a whole lot more. Flew down on a Friday and drove it back up to the Bay on Saturday, putting as many miles on it as it had probably seen in the last 10 years. Car drove like a (36-year-old) dream, with no problems whatsoever. Sending a car you haven't seen to a mechanic you haven't met requires a leap of faith.
