The matcha
Nisha T.

The service is amazing and I haven't really tried their desserts, but they look amazing and hopefully next time I go, I'm gonna get their desserts. Their Matcha is really good as well. That is probably the only drink I've tried but hopefully I will try more. The ambience is beautiful. It's soothing and calming. I love it.

Pistachio Mousse Cake & Pistachio Iced Coffee

Lovely cafe with a friendly staff. Lots of seating and an outlet in the corner by the window if you want to get some work done. But the music, although very zen, is a little too loud. The coffee is good but expensive. But where they excel is with their cakes. Huge servings big enough to share. The pistachio mousse cake is chock full of nuts. Well worth it. I'm thinking most of my visits will be for their cakes. Since the large Starbucks with all the seating closed there's been a void of good spots to work in. Moka & Co. is doing a great job at filling it.

The service was amazing! The guy at the front was very nice, he helped us pick stuff out and recommended items off the menu. The food was delicious, both tasting and looking. Additionally, the atmosphere was very nice. Nice people and beautiful place!!

Lavender Matcha Matte, Matcha Latte, Pizza Croissant

Love this new cafe in UWS! They have an extensive menu with both classic and specialty drinks. I tried Lavender Matcha and it was delicious! There were also samples of the Yemeni coffee and it was very good - it's creamy and not too sweet. They also have a ton of pastries and seating in the cafe. The staff was nice and service was quick. Highly recommend trying this spot - I can't wait to come back and try more.

Great new cafe off of Broadway. Unfortunately, the first drink I tried was not to my taste (don't know what I was expecting, but most drinks on the menu were new to me) but the two gentlemen working were kind enough to swap it out for something else. Plenty of seating in a nice and clean atmosphere. Of note is I think some of their traditional drinks may use white coffee, which is a little milder than what I was used to. It was clear that the staff cared very much about the quality of the drinks, and put a lot of energy into making each beverage excellent. It was fun to try something new!

Mufawar Coffee
Jessica O.

Wandered by this business and decided to try something new. I asked the gentleman taking my order what his favorite menu item was for a coffee as I had never been or had a Yemeni coffee before and he recommended Mufawar. My husband also got a pizza croissant because it sounded too good to pass up. My coffee was entirely too hot while the pizza croissant was not nearly hot enough. Pizza croissant taste was great and we had planned on just taking a few bites but wound up eating the whole thing. The coffee was....not for me. I would not go so far as to say it was bad but the type of spice was not anything I have had before and I could not get past the strong spice taste as cardamom is not something that I have on a regular basis. The space itself was beautiful and I could envision taking a break from the bustle of the city with a nice hot beverage on a regular basis. I just have to find the right menu item for me.

Cute quaint coffee shop with plenty of seating room, perfect for getting work done. They offer endless variety of coffee.

Velvety with great mouth feel and lovely smokiness this was so good w/ their table bread Turkish Ravioli (Manti) (APP, 3/5) - Chewy little nuggets w. yogurt filling, it was pretty enjoyable though my colleague gave ma "Meh" since she makes them at home and probably has high bar. It was good for maybe the first 3 or 4, so perhaps better ordered for larger groups. Shepherd Salad (APP, 4/5) - Fresh, bright(as in vinegar), and herbaceous, we added feta cheese to it and it was perfect balance to our entree. Kofte Kebab (MAIN, 4/5) - Not too dry with packed flavor of all the herbs & beef, I really enjoyed my dish. Went great with all the other accouterments such as slightly cinged wedge of tomato and onion slices, all frolicking on a bed of warm rice that had a nice bite. Adana Kebap (MAIN, 4/5) - My colleague had this one, and I tried a piece. It was juicy and had no hint of gaminess which is always a plus for lamb. 3. Service (3/5) - This being a mom & pop store, I think they're short on staff. Usually they're all in the back cooking, so you do need to be a bit patient to flag someone down. But I'm sure they're more attentive during busy hours. (We went during weekday) Overall, Hakki Baba is a solid turkish mom & pop shop that delivers on great authentic flavor at a reasonable price. In the sea of turkish restaurants in Cliffside Park area, this one is one of my favorite. Pay them a visit!

The restaurant has an interesting history. Even though the original opened in Cresskill, NJ, it unfortunately has permanently closed. However, not only is the Edgewater location amazing, but it had the guts to open during COVID (2022), survived, and is succeeding. The restaurant is beautiful inside and outside. Their decorations are tasteful, the presentation of the food is award winning, and the service is stellar. I started with a Mocha Cappuccino and it was so good. Served in a large mug, an airy/creamy top, and had the perfect amount of mocha happiness throughout. Before the meal even started, we were graciously given Za'atar (a popular Middle Eastern spice blend with an earthy, tangy, and nutty flavor, toasted sesame seeds, and sumac, with salt). It was crunchy, drizzled with oil, and I enjoyed how each thin pita bite made the spices explode all over the table. The entrees were: Strawberry French Toast. The next was the Falafel Platter (chickpeas and fava bean balls, served with tahini sauce, pickles, turnips, tomato, and mint). The last selection was the Avocado Toast (Citrus cured salmon over multigrain bread, tomatoes, onions, capers & citrus vinaigrette). Not only were all of these dishes beautifully presented, but all were filling, as well. My Avocado Toast kept me full for the rest of the day and the salmon was enjoyably salty, thin, and delicious. I noticed a dessert in their display case and ordered it. The dessert was the Riz Bil Ashta (Lebanese rice cream, infused with orange blossom water, blended with milk and cheese, and topped with crushed pistachios). This dessert tasted like a regal custard and the pistachios added an enjoyable texture that makes it recommended. Of course, I had to cap the meal with a Mocchiato. This amazing beverage followed the rest of the meal..... delicious, eyes closed good, and every sip was full-flavored. Thank you, Madison Café and Grill, for presenting a memorable meal and I wish you continued success.

Dreamy hummus on the UWS? Yes, please!…read more I was on a long walk from Midtown when I realized I needed food immediately. I consulted Yelp Assistant for vegan options in the area, and up popped Miriam with a plethora of Mediterranean small plates and I was sold. Since it was a Friday evening, I knew I was taking a chance without a reservation and the place was pretty packed, but there was a small table on the patio available. Since it was a chilly night, the cover was up and I'm sure it's more atmospheric (to match the cute interior) in more agreeable weather, but no matter here because once I tasted that hummus and warm, fresh pita, I really could've been sitting on a curb for all I cared. There's a lot of good hummus to be had in this world, and Miriam's ranks as one of the best I've had. Service was perfection and their wines by the glass are wonderful. I was a bit bummed that I had to make it a quick visit, but I expect that if and when I'm back in this part of town, I will gladly return.

We ordered pretty much the same thing as the first time with the addition of the Cheese Borek to try out. It had a great balance of salty cheese flavor to the crispy phyllo dough. It went well with the Fattoush Salad (that came with the Mixed Platter). We were 3 people this time and the Mixed Platter for 2 was plenty of food along with all the appetizers we got. The Iced Mint Lemonade could have a bit more mint and less sugar but I found it sweet and refreshing. Their Hummus and Babaghanoush here are both excellent and pairs well with the warm pita they give you. Please do yourself a favor and check out El Jardin! Delicious food, amazing portions, and family-owned Palestinian restaurant.

The "host" didn't look us up in a system but just grabbed two menus and walked us to a table. Had he looked at our reservation, he would've seen we requested heated outside table and my son's nut allergies, but we got an indoor table. It winded up being very cold that day so we didn't correct him. I used the bathroom upon arrival and it was not clean. Smelled badly and garbage bin so overflowing that paper towel was accumulating on the floor around it. I believe if you want an idea of how clean the kitchen is, assess how clean the bathroom is. The server women are sweet, but their English wasn't fluent and communication took longer than usual. Sorting out my son's nut allergy (only allergic to cashews and pistachios but all other nuts are ok) became complicated. For example, she kept saying, "but there are no almonds" to which I replied, "yes, but almonds are ok." I had leftover pizza and asked for to-go containers but she didn't bring a pizza box. I started packing the slices in one of their round aluminum containers when I quickly ran out of room. I flagged her down and asked if they had a pizza box instead; to which she replied, "of course we do" (wonder why she didn't bring that in the first place seeing we had leftover pizza? Again, they were nice, tho. The taste of the dishes were so-so. I didn't wind up eating much, but again, this may just be preference. I have a pretty wide palette and I guess this is one of my limits. Their BK Heights location is more highly-rated and wonder if their cleanliness and service is better.
