We were in town celebrating my wife's birthday and came across this gem on Open Table. The service was impeccably attentive -- second to none we've ever experienced. Shout out to our server Tinsley!!! She is a consummate professional who is passionate about her job! My filet was perfectly cooked and my wife's salmon was amazing. In a mood for a great meal with an amazing experience? I highly recommend Chophouse 119!!!

LONG REVIEW WARNING: You need to hear me out; while the food was a solid 4+ (except for the creme brulee), the service at Chophouse 119 does not warrant its pricing structure or the its upscale vibe masquerade. Here is what went right: 1. Upon asking the server to lessen the blowing air conditioning (vent located above our table), he did get ahold of the manager, who turned it off for a time. Thank you! 2. Bread service is delicious (but please serve butter with a spreader). 3. Food was delicious and all but one of us ate from the Restaurant Week Menu; we can talk about the $10 upcharge for beef at another time (given the fact that it's supposed to be a chop house). Salads (Wedge and Caesar) were substantial and delicious, filets & prime rib were equally tasty. My whipped potatoes and za'tar carrots were notably yummy & fresh. My sister enjoyed her truffle mac n' cheese, BIL liked his greens; a friend ordered the Wedge salad & meatball appetizer as an entree off the full menu and was happy with her choices. Here's what went wrong: 1. Service is too slow and pacing is frenetic. Water glasses were filled and then it was 20 minutes before cocktails were ordered. 20 more minutes before our orders were taken. 10 more minutes for the bread service delivery. If one orders the wine pairing flight (and 3 of us did), it should be timed to coincide with the delivery of the course it is paired with; I also DO NOT have the bandwidth for restaurants that try to be swanky, yet my server brings cocktails or wineglasses over without a tray, juggling/sloshing them by hand. Don't get me wrong, Diego was lovely, and IMHO, all this comes down to management and training; remember, we are NOT at Applebees. Chophouse 119 needs to mechanize key details that cannot be missed if trying to establish itself as upscale dining. Overcharging without premier service isn't the way to last; I suggest a field trip to Nunzio's, for example; watch the many details that their establishment employs; hit up Charlie's Green Star and see the same kinds of attention to detail; Get over to CQ's in Harbortown. If you are a fan of The Bear, this video hits home my point: https://youtu.be/sK8XSIVhsE4?si=CRqRCxbUQ8PejGmE Or ask a bunch of Gen Xers to consult on running your restaurant, since we are the ones out opening wallets and enjoying the spoils of our free-range childhoods and soul-crushing careers! But I digress! 2. The creme brulee was perhaps the worst I'd ever eaten: the egg yolks couldn't have been tempered properly or strained before baking, and the texture was like mashed potatoes; the custard was not cold, and the brulee was soggy, as if prepped earlier and left to sit in a hot kitchen. It was also naked: for the love of all that is holy, throw a strawberry fan on top or a dollop of cream with a mint leaf; dessert looked like an afterthought rather than a beautifully plated ending to a nice meal. 3. Let's discuss the outrageous automatic 22% gratuity added. We are still in America, yes? Then allow the patron to select their own tip percentage (we were a party of 5, with couples sharing their own tabs). Frankly, given the choice, I would have tipped 20% simply because our experience did not warrant more. The "service charge" for using credit cards vs. cash has been been hotly debated since lockdown, and as a points-collecting credit card user, I have nothing to complain about. But two in our group were paying with cash and had to question the server to have this charge removed. Go the extra mile for customers and find out how they will be paying prior to bringing over the bill--every establishment uses some digital form of order-taking, and servers are walking around with hand-held devices, so this cannot be difficult to institute. And yet, the non-drinker in the group had a wine flight attached to her bill. Rather than create an kerfuffle issuing new checks, the drinker had to Venmo the non-drinker the cost of the flight. This isn't happening anywhere else! In summation, the food was a solid 4+ but the service hovered around 2. I do not blame the server, per se, I blame the management. I dined here for my first and last time. I wish all well, but inconsistency is unsustainable in the restaurant biz.

The perfect way to celebrate a 50th birthday! A beautiful setting. Great service and outstanding food!! I would go back just for the creme brulee

The food here it was great and good. We really enjoyed ourselves celebrating our anniversary. My wife and I had tomahawk steak, lobster mac & cheese, and the potatoes were excellent chef. Adam did his thing and our waiter. Joey was excellent and the ambience was really romantic. The food here it was great and good. We really enjoyed ourselves celebrating our anniversary. The food at chophouse was amazing! From the bread to the steak 10/10. The service (Chris & Jorge) was great! They were personable and knew their stuff. The restaurant is classically decorated making you feel like you just stepped into NYC 10/10 recommend this spot if you're looking to feel wined and dined, impress out of town guests, or for a date night!

Wife and I came here to enjoy some great food. I had heard it was on the higher end but if it's great then it's worth it. We ordered drinks and I had some JD... but it smelled like seafood! Yes fishy Whiskey! I had asked for the big cube of ice in my drink. Well from I was told it was the ice that smelled like fish... so they removed the ice and put the whiskey in another glass, nope didn't give me a new drink. They didn't really explain why the ice smelled like fish. Ordered the hanger stake and the becall steak with mashed potatoes. Hanger wasn't good. Didn't eat it. The Becall was GREAT. Very big steak. We ended up splitting it. Really enjoyed the potatoes. Also had what the waiter called chocolate cake with ice cream. It was really good, probably best part of the meal. The sad part is we had issues with drink and food. Not one manager came to check on us. Just the server. Server did remove the Hanger steak from our ticket. Still spent over $200 (with tip) so that should give you an idea on pricing. Will we go back? Doubt it. But that Becall steak was really good.

I was able to make a reservation through Yelp, and although our reservation was pretty late at 8 PM, we walked in and luckily grabbed seats at the bar instead. That ended up being the best part of the night. Both bartenders were absolutely amazing. One was incredibly knowledgeable about wine, while the other knew everything about spirits, so we ended up getting a mini education on all kinds of drinks and even did a little tasting. It made the whole experience so much fun and interactive. We eventually settled on a bottle of red wine and shared a filet mignon. I highly recommend ordering the potatoes because whoever prepares them is seriously talented. They were thinly sliced and stacked into this beautiful cake-like structure that completely melted in your mouth. Between chatting with the bartenders and the people sitting next to us, we ended up staying much longer than planned simply because we were enjoying ourselves so much. I honestly don't have a single bad thing to say about this place. It's more than just dinner -- it's an experience, and I highly recommend checking it out.

My friend had the short rib lasagne ($26). My meal was absolutely perfect, everything seasoned/flavored perfectly. My friend's dish looked a little heavy for me but she loved it, also. We chose a nice wine, I Googled it: Banfi Belnero is a premium Super Tuscan IGT wine from Castello Banfi in Montalcino, primarily crafted from Sangiovese blended with international varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. It features a deep ruby color with notes of black cherry, plum, spice, and vanilla, offering a full-bodied, structured palate with balanced tannins. Enjoyed 2 glasses of it ($32)! We split the chocolate Pot de Creme ($10) for dessert, so good. The restaurant was crowded, as we went a dinner time. Were lucky to get a table, in the bar area, near the window. Our server was running by and I didn't mind at all calling out to him, as he didn't check on us as much as the table to next to us, who were regulars. Once they left, he honored us with his presence, actually lingered to explain the quality of the wine we chose. I enjoyed this visit, although I am spoiled on getting much better service in Dallas, but every time I visit the islands, I try to remember to focus on the food, company and atmosphere.

I ordered the sterling filet mignon medium rare with additional onions... For the few slices of onion I had it was not worth the six dollars. We considered going to a different steak restaurant but the reviews were comparable so we thought we would try wise guys. Big mistake. The only thing good about our experience was the warm bread with butter. Our server never asked us how our food was and was not attentive. We were there on a Tuesday night so not a busy crowd. Hilton Head Island has seen some changes in food offerings in the last decade, but fresh and new American fusion isn't common. Enter Chow Daddy's. With two locations (the other in Bluffton) we hit this one on Hilton Head. It's a risky place to put a restaurant, buried in the back plaza of a nondescript but high-end shopping center deeeep in the wooded neighborhoods of the island's Southern tip. If you're staying elsewhere on the island, you'll find you have to pay a small fee to access Sea Pines but many people do to get to the Salty Dog Cafe as well. While it may not get a lot of visibility, it is definitely worth seeking out for the very good Latin American cuisine being offered. Out party of five arrived on an August Friday evening after making reservations and were impressed with the cleanliness and upscale minimalist vibe. Dark booths and Edison-style lighting are offset by the daylight let in by picture windows. There is outside seating in the patio (very pleasant in the shade) and a small bar open off the host area. Inside seating is large enough for bigger parties of 6-8. Definitely not a post-beach day place, but perfect for date night, or more dressy family dinner out. Service was quick and talkative; we enjoy chatting beyond food with out severs which makes the experience even better. Apps and mains were delivered quickly with good presentation. We started with the fine fresh corn dip - extra tortillas were helpful to get the last bits. Mains included a fresh and well pattied cheesburger, mix-n-match tacos and two specialty bowls - cajun shrimp with spicy fine fat prawns and an Ahi-tuna poke style bowl. The rice in both was excellent and the portions were perfect. I'll try to un-hide this hidden star with this review and encourage you to seek it out if you live on "HHi" or make your next visit. I came here with a bunch of friends from my undergraduate research lab while we were in Hilton Head presenting at a conference. We had rented a condo to all stay together and this place was in walking distance, so we headed over. I don't remember what all everyone else got to eat, or much about the service, but I do remember it was a total vibe. Beachy decorations that were fun but still classy and not too kitschy, warm lighting, good music. I ordered an item probably not even on their menu anymore: pulled barbeque chicken on a hunk of spicy cornbread with a side salad. I checked online and it's nowhere to be found, but it slapped at the time, and from pictures it seems like you can still maybe order their spicy cornbread at least, which was the best part! It had a great cakey texture and some legit heat. The chicken was succulent and tender and the smokiness paired well with the salad. It seems Chow Daddy's enjoyed a decade of success after my visit so long ago. I hope the temporary closure listed on the Yelp page doesn't turn into a permanent one. It was a pleasant surprise to be reminded of this visit and my time with friends.

Service was VERY friendly and on top of refills and recommendations, and their gluten free menu is extensive! I even appreciated how my dish was marked as an allergy! We got the hush puppies, calamari (GF), sliders, kid's pizza, shrimp roll, lunch deal with she crab soup, shrimp and grits, and a salad, and then I got the GF oysters and scallops with fries. Hush puppies were the best of the trip (per my mom). Fried crispy and super puffy and delicious - their batter is great! Calamari (GF) was solid, but I would have liked the giardiniera to be on the side since it was too spicy for everyone at the table, and the batter came off the calamari easily. The sliders were solid as well - nothing too wild but nice and juicy. My mom enjoyed her shrimp roll and also said it was fine, and she loved the roll it came on. Hubby really enjoyed his lunch deal, especially the soup and shrimp and grits, and he appreciated the opportunity to try 3 different dishes. He said the salad was fine, but the shrimp and grits and soup shined amidst the 3 dishes for sure. I truly appreciate the opportunity to eat gluten free fried seafood. The oysters were juicy and perfectly fried, and those fried scallops were perfection. Maybe a smidge overcooked, but I enjoyed every single bite and would 100% recommend the scallops to anyone going for some fried food! The fries were thicker which I liked, nicely seasoned, and also gluten free. The restaurant was very nice with a ton of indoor, outdoor, and roof seating - I definitely need to come back and go to the rooftop bar next time! Poseidon is a wonderful option for solid food at Shelter Cove - we cannot wait to come back!
