    Focaccia

I think I'd give it a 4.5 stars if I could. Some things were great and some things were just good. The place is cute, but busy! We were a party of 2 and we showed up around 7:30-8 on a weekday and they only had like 3 tables open because there were just so many reservations. We got the side of sausage (4/5, nothing special), side of focaccia (5/5 great!), green chile (4/5), lilikoi pancakes (5/5).

Break + Feast - Koloa, Kauai Recently visited the Garden Island of Kauai and found a restaurant I really enjoyed in the quaint town of Koloa, just north of Poipu. Located on the second floor of an open-air complex, Break + Feast is definitely worth seeking out. Make reservations if you can--it fills up quickly. We were lucky to get in early before the rush. Service runs on "island time," so don't expect mainland speed, but that's part of the experience. The modern decor gives the place a fresh, welcoming feel. As for the food--absolutely worth the wait. Everything we had was ono. The brisket benedict is a must-try. The brisket was tender and packed with flavor, and the eggs were cooked perfectly. I also ordered the loco moco, which ranks as the second best I've had (with one spot in Maui still holding my top spot). The gravy and eggs here really stood out--rich, savory, and done just right.

I tried the green chili and the lilikoi pancakes. If you like a sweet and citrusy flavor, definitely try the pancakes!!! Absolutely the best pancake I've ever had! It's crispy and soft and pairs perfectly with the fruit curd. The green chili was also great. The hasbrowns were crispy on top and soft underneath with lots of delicious meat and cheese and chili. My only recommendation would be getting the egg cooked over medium instead of sunny side up. There is already plenty of sauce from the chili, so you don't need to rely on a runny egg yolk for sauce! They also give you your own French press if you order coffee. So cute!!

Best breakfast we have had during our stay. We had banana pancakes, bread pudding, bimibap. So good! Recommend a reservation and expect a wait for food. Also the only coffee is French press but you can go downstairs for more options from Ali!

Highly recommend this place. Clean, newly decorated. Staffs are welcoming and friendly. Foods are also amazing. Price is normal is Kauai pricing. Timing to serve the food is also relative fast. Quite indoor environment. We went back there twice during our stay.

Green Eggs & Pork Belly - to DIE for!

You gotta try Break + Feast. What a feast it is! I read over many of the reviews - there were an uncomfortable few that said the service was terrible and they would never come back. So I was leery of this. But most were saying the food was great, and the pictures seem to suggest that as well. Sooo, we decided to meet our local friends (shout out to J&E Lethin) here for lunch this week. Holy cow our plates were AHmazing !! If we were staying longer I'd be back for sure. But first things first: The service we got was top notch. From being greeted as we walked in the door to our table service. Our specific server was super on top of it, very professional and friendly as well. I have no complaints. I ordered the Green Eggs & Pork Belly - it was out of this world. The egg layed happily over its bed of rice and smiled up at you from between the zesty green drizzle and was accompanied by 4 sliced adobo pork belly strips. The rice was the perfect addition to the salty pork and soaked up the yolk as well making your bite absolutely perfect. The pork was crispy and at the same time had a good chew to it. I'm embarrassed to say I ate the whole thing! You've got to try the fresh brewed hibiscus iced tea as well - so bright and refreshing! My mom had the Pigs in a Blanket and though she was planning on saving half for later (doesn't eat much) she ate the whole thing! Haha I was super impressed with how they cooked the hashbrowns. We always order extra crispy anyway, but they were absolutely perfect. Our friends loved their plates as well, I heard no complaints. Great food + even greater company = a beautiful experience. We will be back!

    Mediterranean Toast

We stopped by before heading out for a day of hiking after finding this spot online and thinking it looked promising. We ordered the eggs Benedict, the Kalbi Bibimbap, and the Mediterranean toast. My boyfriend enjoyed the eggs Benedict, though the portion felt a bit on the smaller side. The Kalbi Bibimbap was tasty, but definitely NOT traditional. We asked for an extra side of gochujang and kimchi veggies, which ended up being an additional $7.50. That would have been totally fine, but it would have been nice to have that mentioned ahead of time since the side of veggies was TINY. The meat was flavorful and overall the dishes were enjoyable, but that surprise charge left a bit of a sour note. It slightly impacted how we felt about the service. In the end, the food was good, but not quite enough to bring us back since the service was just okay.

    Benny with Portuguese sausage
    Dena B.

Food was excellent as always. I had the Benny with Portuguese sausage and was very good. Service was lacking though today. That is why I deducted 2 stars. Our waiter never came back to ask if we wanted another round of drinks or refill our waters. He did come finally come back around when we were almost done and said he would refill our waters. That never happened though. We have ate here several times before and have never had poor service though, so hopefully it was just an off day for this waiter.

We stumbled on Break + Fast and thoroughly enjoyed it. The restaurant has a unique vibe -- bright, modern, and stylish, yet still comfortable and relaxed. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with Portuguese sausage, and it was delicious. The egg and sausage came on grilled focaccia instead of an English muffin, which gave me pause at first, but I'm glad I ordered it -- the focaccia might actually be an improvement. My partner went with the "Loco Your Way" featuring fried chicken and coconut curry. He loved it, though he said it reminded him more of a Thai lunch bowl than a traditional loco moco. Either way, he really enjoyed it. Our server was friendly and checked on us regularly, keeping our waters topped off and making sure everything was good. Overall, this place was a hit -- great food, nice people, and a cool spot to start the day in Koloa.

A popular and tasty stop for weekend brunch. We were looking for a nice local place to grab a meal that wasn't connected to a resort and this looked like a great option. There was about a 25 min wait for a table at 10am on a Saturday, would definitely recommend a reservation if you have a big group or aren't willing to wait. We got a small french press coffee that was plenty for two people. The lilikoi pancakes were the highlight with a generous amount of flavorful curd on top. The benedict with bacon was really tasty as well and the focaccia base was a really unique touch. We left stuffed and ready for the day!

    Best Moco Loco ever!!
    Margaret K.

EVERYTHING about this establishment is amazing!! I'd give it a ten star review if I could. The ambiance is so well thought out. It is very warm and relaxing. The food is next level! My husband ordered the Moco Loco. He said it was one of the best he has ever had. I do not like breakfast food, so I ordered the hamburger with honey chipotle aioli. Mmmmmmmmmm!! I've had a lot of hamburgers in my life and this definitely ranks as the very best. It was cooked to perfection. That aioli sauce paired perfectly with the burger. Our server was so polite and friendly. The prices were so reasonable. We've eaten all over the island and been gauged. We will definitely eat here again before we leave. We love that it is family own and operated!! I highly suggest that you make a reservation. It is a popular place. Thank you Break + Feast!! You truely are above and beyond the rest of the restaurants we have eaten at!!

    Sunrise pork

Have been at the old Kiowa Roots multiple times in the past and this is the next gen after that one closed. Up to lunch now but the menu is diverse with many things on the old menu on the new one as well. Food quality is great but with only one waiter things can be very slow. We had a version of the eggs Benedict as well as the sunrise pork - scrumptious. If you liked Roots you'll be happy with B+F. Or even if you didn't this place is great.

This was the second time I came for brunch at Break + Feast. I made a reservation online, but had to make changes and the staff was able to accommodate my requests. It's a casual breakfast/brunch place with a bunch of different options for mains. There's not much choices in terms of speciality coffees, but there are other places nearby. Our server was great and the food was delicious!

We sat on the patio by the pool and luckily the umbrella was large enough to block the sun! The food all tasted great. The crab dip with 6 or 8 pieces of toasted focaccia was high quality with real crab not surimi. We ordered the flatbread with chicken instead of pork and it was also very good with a nice crispy crust and moist chicken chunks. The wedge salad was a large piece with crisp bacon, candied pecans, grape tomato halves and a tasty dressing. It only needed some red onion to make it perfect. The calamari were crispy but the portion size was too small and the pieces of calamari were too small so the ratio of crust to fish was too high.

We sat on the patio but they call the main dining room however it is outside. The host and the servers were very nice on both days helping us choose our dishes and beverages. The first night were shared the shrimp and unui (sp?) patties. They were tasty and slightly sweet but over-charred and the sauce served with them did not complement them very well. It needed a fresher sauce or something with a little kick The first night I Had the chicken Which is actually a tiny little bird I should've known from the name. - pouisson. It was well cooked, but there was very little meat on all of the bones. And also needed a sauce of some kind. The one baby bok choy was a nice addition. Two of the group had the fish and chips it was made with swordfish that night and was very tasty. However, the chips were slightly limp and not hot. No one wanted to return them, but they really were not very good. One of the other entrées was the veggie bowl with seared Aji tuna and it had quinoa at the bottom with lots of roasted beets and other vegetables. It was a very good dish. The second time I ordered the grilled seafood bowl because that night they were offering Oppa as the grilled fish on the kebabs/skewers that were served on top of the bowl the seafood was cooked, absolutely perfectly, and it had pickled cucumbers, pickled red onions, slightly cooked carrots, and then regular cucumbers on top of lightly dressed soba noodles. It was a very tasty and hearty bowl. We also ordered a kale, beet and blue cheese salad for the table, but what came out was their strange version of Caesar salad, which has chickpeas on it which of course we did not want. It took them quite a while to bring the kale and beet salad to the table, however when they did, it was quite tasty a combination I would not have thought of on my own The first night we ordered the passionfruit cheesecake which had a strange chocolate crust that was too thick and a very light topping of passionfruit. It was fine, but we would not order it again. The whole restaurant is a nice change from all of the really overpriced offerings in the area. The food is fresh and tasty and the service is professional and fun at the same time.

An easy hazy to enjoy! SERVICE One busy friendly woman managed the drinking degenerates at this "late" time of night (everything closed early on Kaua'i) before they closed-up in about 30 minutes. I quickly scanned the drink menu for my first victim, ordered that, and once last-call was made, I placed a final order. Each time, I was able to watch my drinks be prepared and gracefully ready. Everything was straightforward, and she did a wonderful job filling the orders, cleaning her station, and getting us out of the bar - mahalo! PARKING (Varied; N/A this instance) I had no vehicle, so I simply walked from my room. However, there was a nightly $40.00 fee for guests if they parked on the property, and there might've been some free parking along the many nearby roads and streets. Make sure to carefully read any posted signs. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A airy clean modern spacious layout with plenty of dining tables that offered awesome views of the ocean, while the central rotund bar https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=120&select=JznsI9DUMC7qF-INilvxyw was where I found myself on this night among other revelers. Plenty of natural lighting everywhere while numerous electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were several TVs all around the bar area but couldn't recall any background music since I was chatting with fellow strangers. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Wrapping up the night with a couple of drinks at Lava's On Poipu Beach was pleasant, soothing, and I would love to return to actually try their food which looked and smelled amazing when I was in the area beaching. I enjoyed my drinks, they surprisingly weren't overly priced, the views were not to be missed during the daytime, and the service was on-point and very professional. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $28.00 BEFORE any discounts, points usage, and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

Mahi fish sandwich and fries were very good and juicy chicken burrito juicy but average. Would come again because of the discount or if I was staying at the Sheraton. Free valet parking for the restaurant a plus!
