The beers are excellent!! Great selection and delicious. The cocktails are fun and fresh! Food is good, lots of variety. Not outstanding but ok fobrew food. Unfortunately service is very slow and they weren't that busy. I read previous reviewers had said she same but it had been a while so I hoped it had improved. No luck. Maybe next time we will sit at the bar, the bartender seems very on top of her patrons. Decor is fun and environment is nice! Came in tonight for dinner and some beers. The beer was great and so was the food. The bartender (I think their name was McKenna) was super nice and chill as well as super helpful. The vibe was really great and prices were really good. I'm really surprised there weren't more people. Definitely recommend to anyone in Albuquerque or passing through, and I'll definitely be dropping back in the next time I'm in town. read more

This could be a good dive bar, but they have some real mill-idiots. I ordered some nuclear wings, and got some bland, slimy tobasco 'something'. I mentioned this to the bartender and she said they were out of 'nuclear', but they charged me all the same. (And it isnt about the 50cent surcharge, it is about the GD principle.) Alien Brew Pub is a cozy, quirky little gem that I just recently discovered. It feels like it should be in Roswell but somehow landed in ABQ. Sanitation & distancing was top notch, the stout was great (& I love my stouts), my salad was very fresh & I learned from the server everything is made from scratch. I experienced the worst fish and chips I've ever had in my life here...the fish was like pieces of fish between a greasy burnt corn dog like batter, it was so disgusting. So went here looking to try two things that I found on yelp. First was the Green chili cheesesteak sandwich. Basically it was a beef hoagie with some of there queso, a couple green chilies and some red peppers. I rate it as OK. Also wanted to try the green chile cervesa. We have been here a few times for either Happy Hour or around dinner. Its a small pub that has a full bar. Within the pub, you'll see Alien decor in every corner. Their is ample parking and is shared with other businesses. As far as the food goes, the Mac and Cheese is a must to order for your side along with your entree. For the appetizers, Nacho Fries were alright. Their Calamaris were aweful! Pricey, fake and chewy. The only thing that was good is the breading and its Thai Chili Sauce. I have tried their Portabello Sandwich which was also alright and was quite messy to eat. Better to use your fork and knife. Overall, its just "Alright", not great nor ok. The food here is amazing. they've got a great menu with original items made with quality ingredients. The beer is also fantastic, and although the selection is more limited than other breweries, the quality is high. The issue is the service. I've been here 5 times now, and it just keeps getting worse. This time, we ordered 2 beers and 2 waters when the waitress took our drink order. I had to ask for water 2 more times before finally getting it after our food was served. When our entrees came out, one was wrong. We ordered Nacho fries, and got nachos instead. Normally, not a big deal, except the waitress basically accused my fiance of ordering wrong even though I am 100% sure she ordered correctly. We had to ask for our table to be wiped down because it was covered in food bits from the last guests. We had to ask our server for utensils twice, including after our food was dropped off. The place was busy when we first got there, but died down quickly. Our server spent most of her time talking with a friend at another table. I'm not a high maintenance customer, and I've kept coming back even though service wasn't great before because the food was so good. As a group of four customer service and food service workers, this was one of the worst experiences we've had in a long time and we knew this from the first five minutes of being there. The waitress with curly hair whose name none of us got was horrendous. She was very rude and sarcastic and seemed annoyed that we were even there. None of us did anything to warrant that kind of behavior. We went to sit outside and she was annoyed with us that we sat at the table without her spraying it down first; it was one of those metal tables with holes in it, none of us thought they were going to wipe it down. Trying to make conversation, one of my friends mentioned that she had received the Covid vaccination recently and she drove down to Amarillo to get it. The waitress very sarcastically said that she was not going to do something like that and that not everyone had the privilege to get it done. When another of my friends asked for a light stout, she said they didn't have one and my friend apologized and said she meant a pale ale and the waitress said that's a COMPLETELY different beer and rolled her eyes. Ten minutes in, and we cancelled our order and left, not wanting to be there any longer. We didn't go into the restaurant to be bullied and be made to feel stupid. This review was for a Tuesday night meeting with a buddy. It wasn't taco Tuesday here at Alien brew pub, but we did arrive in time to enjoy some happy hour specials. I ordered a Michelada made with Alien's green chile beer (it was pretty dang good). My friend, who likes to drink whiskey/scotch just got a double Jameson. We got a starter of cheese wedges, which was ok. Nothing spectacular about them. I ordered a queso burger (off their happy hour special) and it was an open faced burger with a ton of queso cheese, with fries. It was good, but I was hoping for a hand-held burger. Nonetheless, it was quite tasty. I can't remember what my friend ordered, but I didn't hear him complaining. We hung out and chatted a bit after dinner, and argued about MMA fights, politics, and anything else that crossed our minds. For as long as I've lived here in Albuquerque I've known of this pub but I've never actually gone inside. My previous visit I actually went inside the Sports bar next door thinking that Alien was part of the same building. Turned out they are two separate bars housed in the the same building with 2 different entrances. For those of you who have not been here before I'd like to clear that up. I really enjoyed the atmosphere with the Alien theme. They have couple walls with a space ship hanging it's really neat. The server greeted my group immediately and told us we could have a seat wherever we'd like. As we sat down they gave us a couple minutes to review the drink menu from there they approached our table and took our order. I was hungry and having no experience dining there I figured I'd give it try. As I viewed their selection of food I was very impressed by all the dishes they offered. It wasn't your typical pub with simple menu items like nachos, burgers, sandwiches, and chicken. These guys had an option for steak, green chili chicken Alfredo, Philly cheesesteaks, burgers, and sandwiches with many different side options including mac and cheese. I was interested in the Alfredo but I decided to try the Philly since that's a sandwich I find myself rarely eating. I was not disappointed. Maybe it was from the hunger, but I found my eyes lit up when I saw them bringing my meal. The Philly doesn't seem like much at first glance as it's the steak meat with grilled peppers, onions, and mushrooms, but let me tell you it packs a punch. The meat was perfectly succulent and the cheese was a perfectly gooey complimenting the meat and grilled veggies. As a side I chose the mac and cheese and wow that was a good choice! The mac and cheese wasn't dry nor did it have a crusty texture. It was gooey with a creamy mixed cheddar flavor with some hints of pepper that really complimented the cheese. It really tasted home cooked and made with with care. Seeing as it was my first time at this pub I had to try their beer. I ordered the cherry wheat beer to enjoy with my meal and found myself to be surprised by how it had a creamy vanilla flavor along with cherry which was subtle and not tarty at all. I've been to some bars that the cherry is too tart and reminded me of the artificial cherry flavor you find in cough syrup or medication that just grossed me out. This beer did not have that vibe at all and the creamy vanilla flavor really gave it a nice smooth refreshing taste that really was impressive. My first visit I have to say I'm not disappointed at all. This pub really impressed me with their wide selection of taps and food. The have happy hour (which includes food) and different specials through out the week. The nacho-fries, burgers, chicken tenders, salads, basically everything is delicious. And it does have a full bar! So if you bring people that are not cool crafty beer fanatics they can get hard liquor or domestic beers/wines whatever they fancy. We went there on a busy and crowded Friday night towards the end of happy hour. Found a table and waited a bit for a waitress. She was smart and capable and brought out drinks in a reasonable timeframe. I had one of the signature cocktails called the 'Saturn'. Tasty if a bit sweet. Hubby had a beer he said was pretty good. We both ordered food. I got the house salad and the happy hour nacho fries and hubs got a Reuben sammich with onion rings. First, that salad: nicely cleaned and fresh mixed leaves topped with a generous handful of crumbled feta and even the tomatoes weren't too bad for this time of year. The thing was fresh! Next up, those nacho fries. I figured for the price ($5) I'd get a small plate or bowl, but no! It was a huge pile of fries topped with queso and grated cheese with fresh jalapeños (order extra jalapeños or salsa if you like it hotter). We both ate on these the entire time and still only managed to eat a little more than half the plate. Finally that sammich, better than average. The surkraut could have been taken up a notch and it need to be served with a side of thousand island, but it was a pretty respectable rueben. There only appeared to be three waitresses working on a busy night so these gals were moving. Probably could have scheduled at least one other waiter or maybe some bussing help? They kept up, but just barely. All in all a pretty good place for general pub grub and a cold drink. The price is right and the beer is cold-give em a try! read more

This place is about the same but has changes somewhat over the years. No more ABQ Brew and now it has been overtaken by the Alien Brew Pub. Ok, I can get the idea of embracing the alien theme even if it's a bit tacky and reminiscent of some sort of weird glow in the dark or blacklight filled rave fest. Thank goodness the menu is largely the same because their stuff is really good....about 85% of the time. The fish tacos, burgers (with the exception of the queso burger), and nachoes w/ steak are still solid (although sometimes the steak is overcooked and/or they skimp on the queso and/or they use just plain shredded cheese instead of queso). But the thing that really bugs me? And this is probably more the brewery's fault than the actual restaurant but I'm not sure. They changed all the names on the beers and for some unknown reason tweaked some of the recipes so they're just not quite the same as they were. Yes, uber beer snob here. I notice these things. Don't get me wrong, that sounds like a ridiculous thing to complain about but there were a few of the amazing classics that were hands down my favorites (I'm looking at you, Alien Stout). Now it's some Imperial stout where they added more vanilla or chocolate or something and it tastes like some weird, artificially flavored mess. This used to be the pinnacle of what a stout should be to me (with Left Hand Milk Stout a close second, tied with Boxing Bear's Chocolate Milk Stout). But alas, the new recipe, whatever the heck happened to it is almost gag-inducing to me. Another is the Cropcircle Wheat. This one i think is the same but everywhere else, including at stores, it's called Alien Wheat. I feel like the branding needs to get their act together. Overall, still one of my favorite breweries but I wish they were a little more consistent. read more

Was looking for a spot to chill out on a sunny Sunday afternoon. I read mixed reviews on this brew pub but decided to give it a go. Nice find! The patio was quiet (no smokers and one well-behaved dog), the flight of beer was great, and the bacon-wrapped dates were unbelievable! The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is the bacon-wrapped poppers were filled with "fake" cheese instead of good cheddar. Boo! We had fun pairing beer and apps: aforementioned dates are excellent with the amber ale; the poppers go well with an IPA. The green chile beer is good on its own and not spicy, just good chile flavor. If drunk with the poppers, it looses all its chile flavor and tastes just like a lager. Just sayin'. The milk stout is good enough to be dessert, although hubby thought it was too sweet. While it might be busier on a "game day" it was just what we were looking for today. We'll be back. read more

Never go here for Super Bowl they said they would turn on volume and at first they did someone complained that it was too loud (because clearly they couldn't hear there loud partygoers and themselves yelling) Super Bowl hadn't even started yet it was commercials (which as most know are always louder then the broadcast you are meaning to watch) moving forward game comes on it's barely heard after more people show up area becomes louder with more people talking and such ..... asked the bartender if they could adjust the volume now she stated they wouldn't ...... never even tried to accommodate it (she was also one of the people that wanted the volume turned down twice earlier and made that happen ...... umm ok anyways moral of the story don't come to this establishment at least if your attempting to watch something....like the Super Bowl. Our waitress and bartender Monique and ally were HORRIBLE. Our waitress didn't put in our full order and what she did put in was completely WRONG. she then has the audacity to say we were pains in the asses because she didn't know how to do her job as she stumbled around the kitchen entrance and was clearly NOT SOBER. I will be reaching out to the BBB if this staff isn't addressed. THE "Manager" Chris did nothing to make the situation better but made my whole family uncomfortable by staring down my father in law and boyfriend while we walked out. I wish I could get in contact with the owner of the place to let him know what horrible, unprofessional and incompetent staff he has. I would hate to know that I have people like that working for me and STILL GET PAID. These people don't deserve to work in customer service. Someone please provide me with someone higher up I can speak to or will file a complaint with the bbb regarding intoxicated employees. It's taken us 3 visits, but we have finally figured this place out... I think. Service has always been friendly. The waitresses have always been prompt and are willing to answer questions. But the drinks (beyond beer) can be hit or miss. My husband tried a few options before settling in with a Manhattan he liked. My margarita was just OK. The food is obviously freshly made. I've had an excellent Cuban sandwich and bacon wrapped dates. The nachos were OK and my husband's fish and chips were greasy. But we keep coming back here... This place has local brews which they make onsite, so I was automatically a fan. I came here after work with a few co-workers. We sat out on their patio because it was so gorgeous out which was nice. Our waitress was nice and checked on us a lot. I went with their Alien Wheat beer which was refreshing and tasty. We ordered their mango chipotle wings and bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers to share. They were both pretty good, but the wings were pretty sweet, but not in a BBQ sweet kind of way.
