The food is decent just not a great selection. When I explained that no one had spoken to me about the issue, I was told that the manager had already informed me, which was not the case. Me and my best friend wanted nachos so we decided to try the Hopper since they are close by and we wanted nachos that were Big Enough to share and these did not disappoint. They were served on a huge pizza tray and were loaded with a bunch of delicious ingredients and 2 salsas. They were so delicious and hit the spot perfectly. I had a coke with Grenadine and my friend had a margarita. My coke was Crisp and Delicious and exactly what I was wanting. My friend had a Margarita which she said was nice but lacked more alcohol. I don't drink so I can't confirm. Our server was super cool and hip and she took care of us from start to end. My first time there because we went for the music. It's a very small Pub a block off Hwy 528 on the North side of Rio Rancho. We tried 3-4 different types of craft and bottle beers. We both liked the Scottish "Kilt Lifter." We ordered a large Hawaiian Ham and Pineapple pizza. It was ok but not great. The pizza crust is thin which I like. It really could have had more ham and pineapple on top. The ham was cut in cubes like sugar cube size which I thought was odd. There's a great selection of many types of beers listed on the board. The service was good and very attentive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place was full when the music of the Fabulous "Martini Tones" began. They're a really awesome 4 man band that plays epic classic tunes. No vocals - just good music including Saxophone. They played a 3 hr gig and we enjoyed every bit of it![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]!! We'll be going back and try other food and if we get another pizza - it'll be different and hopefully better. And also, hopefully the Martini Tones will be there performing also. read more

Sunday, March 12, 2023. Dinner. This pub used to be called the Blue Grasshopper and a great place to see live music. We hadn't visited since they re-opened and changed the name. They had live music, a two-man band that sang some covers and sounded quite good. They had the lead singer for Coalesce Blue join them for some songs and he has a great voice. This pizza happened to be a perfect size for two people to polish off. The wood fired oven created a perfect crust. My wife said she liked it more than Village Pizza. I disagreed with that bold statement, but it was a really good pizza pie. They are generous with their toppings. We paired the pie with some pints. I had the Rio Grande Outlaw lager ($5) and two pints of the Marble Cerveza ($5 each) with lime wedges. My wife drank the Kiltlifter ($5) and De La Vega Pecan beer ($6). All of our beers were on tap, and I'm sorry to say, just a bit under-carbonated. If they could increase the carbonation to the beers these pub would be 5 stars. If you want a place to spend a relaxing afternoon or evening, listening to live music, enjoying some pints and eating good pizza than this should be your spot! read more

Got there at that time and the pizzas and garlic bread (which ended up being some cheese and jalapeños thing) had been sitting in the styrofoam containers for at least 30min. This was my first visit to Hopper Pub in Rio Rancho. I was interested in hearing the live music by the Martini tones, and ended up really enjoying the pub and restaurant experience. It is a small and intimate venue, with relaxed dress code. There was a wide age range in the crowd, with some people choosing to have their small children along. Personally, I like it when a pub has a family type atmosphere. The menu choices are salads, various pizzas, beer, and cocktails. Their servers were friendly and attentive, I was waited on and served fast, and the pizza was delicious. The Martini Tones specialize in surf music and play instrumentals. In a word, they are excellent. Certainly a nostalgic wave hit me as they played Green Onions, apache, Endless Summer, and other songs from a bygone era. It was particularly refreshing to me that the audience applauded after every song. These find musicians deserve that attention and recognition, and they got it! I absolutely recommend this place if you're looking for an evening of absolutely pure fun. read more

I have been coming here since the Blue Grasshopper times. I am happy about the new owners keeping the vibe. Big fan, come often but have had a bad experience. Here it is: Ordered 2 garlic cheese breads $9 ea and 1 side salad $7 to go. $5tip, tax, total $32. Check it out. Salad was not even a cup and missing the olives. This is a hard review to write because there are good things and things that could be improved. We popped in on a Sunday night for dinner/beer prior to a concert a the Rio Rancho Events Center. We have been to the location in Riverside Plaza but not this location. We were greeted upon arriving and our beer order taken and our beers delivered quickly. Selection of beer is solid with some choices like Space Dust that are a bit harder to find in Albuquerque. We ordered a half salad and a pizza and it took forever to get our order. I didn't time it but it was between 45 and 50 minutes before we received our food. We were almost late for our concert. It seemed like there could be a benefit to having more staff available for quicker order delivery. That is the bad part---the wait. Also, the menu needed to be replaced. it was waterstained, wrinkled and dirty. The food was great. Worth the wait though long. We were told everyone ordered at the same time which happens just seems that there needs to be more staff and or more expediting of the service. read more

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised on how good this pizza was tonight. This is my first time ordering from here and I went with the 7" meat pizza. There was a generous amount of toppings on it and not too much sauce. Now, I'm from Chicago and I'm a big time pizza snob. The only thing different I'd like is if it was cooked about 3 minutes longer. This way the bottom would be a little crispier. I did like the dough because it was light so you can enjoy the topping and not fill up on doughy bread. I'm definitely coming back to try another pizza. Great job Hoppers Pub! read more

It's nice that the Hopper is back, albeit a reincarnated form. We visited last Friday at 5:30 to renew our acquaintance with a business we last patronized in 2019. Under new ownership this neighborhood pub resembles the previous physically but little else. They still have the entertainment but only half the tables were occupied when we arrived. Even so service was slow if not attentive. Perhaps the biggest disappointment was the pizza. Crust was thin, almost cracker like. Baking was inconsistent. One tables' came out with the crust burned to a crisp. Another looked fine. Ours was in between. Some char is desirable but burnt creates a bitter taste. Our Margherita was heavily loaded with cheese but lacked the proper amount of basil that gives it it's distinctive taste. The new Hopper needs work and I hope it succeeds. read more

I've loved this place since day the original Blue Grasshopper opened! Love the food and the new owners keep the same menus and recipes. HOWEVER I have been there twice in the last couple of months taking friends to introduce them to it and both times they've been closed even though there hours say they're open. The last time was Tuesday the 25th and I checked their hours and they were supposed to be open at 11:00 and their other location at 3:00. My friend and I were meeting there at 12:30 so was confident they'd be open. Well they were closed! The sign on the door has their hours and they should have opened at 11:00 that day. There was a man sitting at the end of the bar and someone in the back in the kitchen.. we tried the door a couple of time and it was locked and nobody even looked up at us, that was the same as the other time, totally ignored customers at the door! Later after my friend and I went elsewhere to eat we stopped back to get my friend's car and I went in and asked the waitress what times they opened. I told her we were there at 12:30 and they were closed. She said they were "deep cleaning" the kitchen I asked why they didn't do that before they opened and she said they did! She was a little snarky and put out! Well an hour and a half later they weren't done and don't know what time they actually opened that day! Don't businesses of any type do their cleaning during their closed hours? I'll be very hesitant to recommend this place to any more friends! Very disappointed in this policy! The food is 5 stars but respect for their customers is 1 star! read more
