Great looking place, full of cool bar-toys like cooling-Costers and wine on tap. Not many places have improved the customer service more than ABQ Brew Pub, I've been here before and it was indeed bad. NOT anymore, we received great service from our Bar Tender. The house beers were tasty and very affordable. During our visit we were apporched by a very nice Manager asking us if everything was ok. Subsequently, he did this to every table (not very busy) so clearly the staff is trying. Food is a little over priced, so if your really just on a bar crawl save your cash and Drink the beer! Not a review, but I find it difficult calling this place a brewpub. Brewpub gives a connotation of a microbrewery where the beer is brewed on the premises. Their beers, although with their own names, are brewed off site by a contract brewer. I'll stick withe the microbreweries in ABQ. read more

We had lunch today at ABQ brew pub mainly because we had a coupon in our entertainment book so we figured we would give them a try. I read the reviews before hand and realized they are pretty hit or miss but we decided it was worth checking this place out. Upon entering we thought it was a nice little place, there was only a couple of other people in there so it wasn't overly busy. Both my husband and myself had looked at the menu on there website prior to arriving at the restaurant and had both already decided to try out there award winning Chile burger, when the burger came out my first thought was it is big, but after taking my first bite my feelings turned to the stale taste. The bacon tasted like it was cooked hours previously and then warmed up it was hard and the green chiles were soggy tasting from the batter, the fries tasted old and warmed up as well and they weren't even "hot" more like a warm heat like they had been sat around for a while. Neither of us were very impressed with the food at all and the only reason why I have given them 2 stars is because the service was ok and the food was meh but edible we won't be returning though. read more

I had a very good grilled chicken breast sandwich & amazingly tasty sweet potato fries in massive portions. It would be enough for two small'ish people. The sandwich had a lot of veggie matter in it: salad greens under the grilled breast & cheese and avacado slices on top, which is a good thing to me. I'd ordered the sandwich without the onion & they withheld it as ordered. Sierra Blanca Nut Brown Ale was very tasty. To me it was like a lighter version of their milk stout, having the same strongly roasted finish in a less robust bodied drink. It went well to wash down the grilled sandwich. Waitress was a little cool & distant at first, but warmed as we got the meal underway, ending on a pleasantly friendly note. I was in at 11:30 on a Sunday morning and had the place to myself for much of my visit. They had upbeat music on the overhead speakers at a level that allowed easy conversation without shouting. Very pleasant atmoshere for a leisurely visit. Price is perhaps a little high for ABQ as a whole, but about what you'd expect for Uptown and not bad considering the quality and, especially, the portion sizes of the food. My husband and I visited Albuquerque for the first time. We wanted to watch the Dodgers game bad. We did a search for a sports bar and discovered this place. Chelsea was very attentive and nice! My margaritas were delicious and the Alien IPA was yummy. I ordered the fried zucchini and it was tasty! We enjoyed our visit and came back the next day. Oh! Take it from a foodie and discerning palette for beverages, these beers are decent. I can't take much more than 12oz of Milky Way stout because it's so rich. Imperial stout is my go to. Sunchaser is a great light summertime beer. Amber is fine. But I also like the British style amber Bone Chiller. Bacon wrapped dates, onion rings and nachos are the way to go for apps. Alien burger is made to order and delicious. Very nice staff and tasty brews make this place good. The ambience is dimly lit aliens and sports on the TVs. Can't stay away from our favorites breweries in Albuquerque. This place has EXCELLENT beer and super cool staff. Alley again gives it 2 paws up. The bar has some alien technology....the "coasters" implanted in the bar keeps your beer ice cold...Amazing! I guess aliens really did land in New Mexico. Growler fills are economically priced and you can never go wrong with their Milky Way IPA or Vanilla Porter. read more

Overall, a lukewarm first visit. We were there on a tuesday night, the same night as the baseball playoffs. Multiple TVs on, but none had the game on. Atmosphere: 2/5. Smallish, very noisy and a bit on the messy side. Could barely carry on a conversation. Beer: 2/5. Beer was just ok. Had a black IPA. Tasted more like a porter vs. a true black IPA. Buddy's nut brown was on point though. Food. 1/5. Nothing remarkable here. The nachos were not particularly warm, and with canned cheese, that is not great. Burger I had was ok, but sweet potato fries were cold. Service: 2.5/5. We seated ourselves but it took a good 15 minutes before orders were taken. Drinks took another 10. Food timing was off. Our nacho app was on the table about 5 minutes before our food arrived. Probably won't be going back. Too many other places to try in this area of ABQ. read more

Wow, so dead this Saturday. Apparently they've teamed up with Alien (of the beer) and are now known as Alien Brewpub. I wonder if that has something to do with the lack of patronage today. On second thought there are no games. Right now unless you are one to watch basketball. Same good food though. My go to dish is the past state fair winning green chili cheese burger...tempura battered green chili strips and a big juicy patty. It's a mouthful but worth the stretch. Last time we got the nacho fries, mmmmm... Imagine it.... all the toppings of scrumptious nachos served over deep fried taters! Not quite finger food anymore. I only got dessert here, but it was by far the best creme brulee I've had. (And believe me, I've tried creme brulee all over the country). My fiancé and I decided to stop here for a snack and a beer before heading to the new Round 1 arcade at Coronado. I will DEFINITELY be coming back. Considering the name of this establishment (emphasis on "pub"), you might not consider it a go-to place for fine food. You would be wrong. I have been eating lunch here over the years and have never been disappointed with the fare. Ingredients are fresh, of high quality, and imaginatively prepared. One of the strongest features, in my opinion, is the side salad that you can order to accompany their sandwiches and burgers. It is huge, a meal unto itself, with fresh, high quality ingredients. Other side dishes offered at no additional cost include sweet potato fries as well as the more customary french fried potatoes, plus other healthier choices. I've been here a couple times now. I've tried quite a few of their beers and was pretty impressed. The Milky Way Stout is amazing and the Single Hop IPA is a must try if you're a hop head like me. This last time I went I also ordered the New Mexico Philly with hand cut fries. The fries tasted homemade and the sandwich was just as good. They also have these awesome little coasters that keep your beer cold built in to the bar. Do yourself a favor and go check this place out. read more

We stopped at Alien for a late lunch after a Breaking Bad tour. We were all starving and Alien hit the spot. I had the Alien Burger which is an 8oz burger with American cheese, bacon, fried green chilis, and aioli mustard. I would highly recommend if you're a green chili fan. Their regular fries and sweet potato fries are both great choices! I sampled the nachos which are a healthy portion size; they could be shared with 2-3 people. The ambiance was really cool. As you might've guessed, there's lots of Alien decor. I really loved the light up UFOs around the restaurant. If you sit at the bar, they have awesome built in coasters that are chilled! Alien also sells 6 packs of their beer. We left with 2 six packs of the amber ale. They have a pint and a 10oz pour option. I've been a fan of Alien beer for quite some time, especially the Amber, so I really loved the opportunity to drink it at the brewery. Many of the previous reviews commented on service. We didn't have a problem but our visit took place during off hours. Alien is nestled in a strip mall amongst some office buildings. I'd highly recommend stopping in if you're in the area. read more

Food/Beer: The beer (and food) was great! I did 2 flights and tried just about every home brew they offered. Quality beverages that meet the expectation of Albuquerque craft brewing. You'll be happy with the food and beer selection. Value: I can't complain here either. The pricing felt just a bit high but it was prime time on the weekend when I went so that may have been a contributing factor in beer pricing. Summary: Recommend the stop. I've been here twice in the last six months. The first time the bartender was a little rude and the taps were not working. I went a second time Saturday and it was the same cold waitress but the taps were working. I got an alien wheat but it wasn't anything special. I probably won't go back it's a cool concept but the atmosphere sucks. The staff was complaining every time a customer would call to place an order. My husband and I have only been here a handful of times, mostly because it's not a convenient location for us. They have a decent drink selection for being such a small place, and the food we've had in the past has been tasty, and although we liked it well enough, it doesn't stand out as somewhere to go out of the way for, but is more of a "we happen to be in the area, let's stop in" option. That's what happened tonight, when my husband was running an errand near the ABQ Brew Pub, and asked me if I wanted to meet him there for dinner tonight after I got off of work, so I said sure. I had had a fairly large lunch, and wasn't really in the mood for a burger or anything too heavy, but still wanted something filling, so I opted for the Ceasar salad and added the tuna. The Ceasar salad alone was $8.00 and it was an extra $5.00 for the tuna, so for $13.00 total I was expecting it to be a pretty substantial meal. When it was set down in front of me, I was surprised to see that there were only six small, thin slivers of tuna sitting on top of a pile of lettuce. I even looked to see if there was more tuna hiding underneath the lettuce, but nope. That was it. The size of the salad wasn't tiny, but it certainly wasn't worth $13.00. Also, when asked how I wanted the tuna cooked, I asked for it to be prepared medium, and it came out seared medium rare. I don't mind rare tuna though, so I didn't make a fuss. I was a little afraid that if they took it back to recook the tuna, it might come back with even less tuna than before. My husband had the green chile cheeseburger, which was around $8.00 and served with fries, so not a terrible price. He said the burger was good, but nothing that really stood out. After I finished my salad, I was still pretty hungry and considering getting something else, like a dessert or appetizer, even though I didn't really want to spend more money after ordering a $13.00 salad that didn't even half fill me up, but our server asked if we were ready for our check without asking if we would like anything else first. Now, I could have easily said, "Not yet, I would like to order something else", but I was really put off by the way he said it. He could have said, "Can I get you two anything else, or are you ready for your check?", but instead he just abruptly asked, "Are you ready for the check?", and the way he said it sounded like he was trying to get us out of there in a hurry. It was only a little after 6:00pm, so nowhere near closing time, and I didn't notice any other patrons waiting to be seated, so I don't understand why they would be in such a hurry to get rid of us. Anyway, I decided not to order anything else, and just fixed myself something once I got home. In the future, we might stop in for a drink or a snack the next time we're in the area, but this definitely won't be a go to choice for a full meal. read more

The green chile battered tempura cheese burger here is what keeps me coming back. It's probably one of, if not, the best in Albuquerque. I think its called the "alien" burger now, but its still just as good as it was when they were ABQ brewpub. Couple that amazing burger with a great milk stout and you have an epic meal. The service is always good and the place is clean. Location is great too for those who prefer to stay on the east side of town or near the mall and hotels by Louisiana. read more
