I have had great results working with Lisa Decker to improve my posture and manage my sports related injuries. She offers a method called the egoscue method, which is based on the principle of doing a short (20 minute) daily exercise routine to realign your body. This is different from physical therapy or yoga, in that she uses feedback (photographs, functional tests and pain symptoms) to tailor the exercise menu to your body. She also helps you troubleshoot and learn about your body and what exercises work and what don't. She is very competitively priced for teaching you this method. My story: I have had chronic bad posture my whole life and sciatic pain for 13 years. 2 years ago I started playing tennis, and have stepped it up to play every day around 1 year ago. However, I started getting pains in the balls of my feet (similar to plantar fasciitis) as well as pains in my knee on and off court. I tried orthotics, podiatrist, braces, new shoes, but I only obtained very mild relief from those methods. I started with Lisa about 1 year ago, and within a couple of months the foot and knee pain was more manageable and now I have been pain free of those symptoms for about 6 months. We worked together to find a couple of key exercises that really helped both. She also noticed that my right foot was turned out, and that my right knee was internally rotated, causing my right hip to move forward. She was able to link a bike accident I had about a year before the sciatic pain started to the aggravation of the sciatic nerve. We are now working on finding the right balance of exercises to re-align the hips, and take some of the extreme curvature in my upper back out. From looking at the pictures, before and after, I have made a ton of progress. Of course this is an ongoing process and after years of misalignment will not get fixed overnight but I really believe that over time I will stand straighter, become more functional, and have less sports related injuries. read more

Over the Christmas Holidays I found myself suddenly in a wheel chair surrounded by 18 extended family members. The Friday before Christmas I had abruptly and unexexpectedly developed severe pain in my right thigh- pain that seemed like sciatica or IT band. I could not stand for more than 30 seconds or walk more than 50 feet before having to sit down. Over the next 2-3 weeks, I graduated to 2 crutches and then 1. However, "traditional" medicine was never able to diagnose the situation. "They" prescribed Tylenol and Gabapentin for the nerve pain. The latter was absolutely useless. A friend recommended Egoscue and specifically with Lisa Decker. I had always thought of alternative therapies and medicine as bordering on quack remedies. However, what did I have to lose in this case? Well, now it is late February. At the age of 67, I just got back from a week in Wyoming and Montana with a friend from my 20s and 30s that I hadn't seen in many years. While I chose not to go downhill skiing, I did cross country ski 2 days in the Tetons and West Yellowstone! From a wheel chair to X-country skiing in 0 degree weather in less than 60 days. Pretty darn good I say! I'm so fortunate to have found Lisa Decker. I have tried so many other modalities: pilates (groups and 2 different coaches) as well as gyrotonics, traditional physical therapy, massage, chiropractic, and much more, but LIsa's ability to use the Egoscue method to systematically address issues, modify the "menu" of exercises that are emailed to you each week (with photos and videos) makes doing the exercises on your own much, much easier, and also addresses your underlying muscular & structural (in my case "deformities") and helps you to get results ... anytime I felt any pain, she changed the exercises and had me to walk after each exercise to make sure the changes we were making really addressed the problems. In the past, I felt exercises were driven to strengthen everything, not always addressing my specific issues, and many approaches (like massage and chiropractic) were not long-lasting ... I feel with Ecgoscue that eventually I will be able to do these exercises on my own w/o assistance and not be continuing tied to the practitioner and forced to invest hours and hours (and $$$) in resolving problems I could resolve on my own by being empowered. That's what Lisa offers ... an attentive and throughtful approach where she REALLY listens and helps her clients solve problems. I have been working with Lisa Decker for over a year now. When we started I was dealing with pain and numbness resulting from 2 herniated discs in my neck that the doctor had diagnosed through an MRI. I was told that cortisone shots would relieve the pain for a period of time but that there was essentially no prognosis of healing. In the time that we have been working together, Lisa identified my postural issues as well as muscular development issues and has provided solid and successful exercises to either eliminate or greatly alleviate the impact of these issues. The exercises are not difficult and are adjusted for me as I continue my improvement. I am now pain free in my neck and the numbness has completely subsided. The exciting thing for me is that I did not need to stop my daily swimming through it all and in fact, my swimming has improved as a result of our work. I cannot say that all pain issues can be solved through Lisa's program but I believe that many can be. I would recommend Lisa to anyone knowing that she would thoroughly evaluate a client and then provide expert help where she believes she can. I have learned so much about my body and what to do to avoid the pain that the doctor's have simply attributed to "old age". My experience working with Lisa Decker has been life-changing. Severe sciatica pain led me to an MRI through my HMO that identified a bulging disc impacting a nerve. My HMO put me on a progression of pain killers and in a support group for "living with pain". This was not a path I wanted to follow. A recommendation from my family doctor led me to Foundation Training and to Lisa at Aligned Fitness. Lisa's approach to using your posture and functional tests as a feedback mechanism to identify corrective exercises was a dramatic improvement over the arbitrary exercises prescribed by my HMO PT. Lisa effectively used Egoscue exercises to correct my posture and alleviate my pain symptoms - completely! I am continuing to work with Lisa to build on the success of the corrective work to build strength and mitigate any return of my postural dysfunction and associated pain. I highly recommend Lisa decker at aligned fitness. I have been undergoing treatments for about the past two months. I've seen a remarkable difference in how I feel and how I look!. I'm an orthopedic surgeon and while many of my patients request aggressive treatments, I prefer less aggressive treatments for them and me. I had been having nagging knee and hip bursitis, both of which have completely resolved with my program. Objectively, my program has resulted in me being 1/2 taller, and my 6 mile run time has improved significantly. Subjectively, I feel better. I was a little hesitant to have the sessions on zoom. However, Lisa is very through and observant. I feel the zoom sessions are as good, if not better than in person. I'll frequently be doing a position and Lisa will make very insightful and precise corrections. The session starts out with some posture photos. I first met with Mark Thibert on 9/6/2022 for a consultation. I had a total knee replacement in May and I had been suffering with intense pain since then. My sciatic nerve was triggered from the surgery and my pain level between that and my knee was an 8-9 that day. Within ONE WEEK my pain level was a 2. When Mark told me this, I was amazed, I had tried everything - a Pain DR, returning to my Orthopedic Dr who said if I didn't start getting range he might have to do a manipulation (which is worse than the surgery) Three cortisone shots later, I was no better. Since Mark, I have gotten my range of motion past 120 degrees, my spine alignment is holding, I can use stairs normally AND I have a much better quality of life. Today was a great day thanks to Mark Thibert and me, of course, for doing my exercises. I had a stroke on May 13 which caused temporary paralysis on my left side and have been working with Mark since the end of September. Had a massage today for the first time in 4 months. For the first time EVER I did not have knots or "crunchies in my back" because of the exercises Mark has me doing to strengthen my back. For the first time when she massaged my left hip it didn't hurt. The leg muscles are still stiff from knee to hip but so much better than before. My mobility is almost 100%. Flexibility is getting there. I'm almost pain free at all times. Considering I was considering a cortisone shot the end of September because of the pain, that is amazing. I was in constant pain before. Here's the best part. My massage therapist asked if I had been to the chiropractor lately because my spine was so straight. I have not been since early September!!! If you have ever been curious about QiGong, you are in luck! I have practiced both QiGong and TaiChi over many years and have worked with a number of skilled instructors. I had 2 years ago serious neck and back surgery which took care of straightening my vertebrates but left me with muscle problems. My whole body was out of balance and my back start hurting again. Friend of mine recommended Lisa Decker and I made an appointment to see her. First think what Lisa did she did take pictures of my body and I realized how terrible crucet my body was.
