I have been experiencing extreme pain in my feet lately. I have one foot with a failed bone spur surgery and the other with a bone spur that is becoming overwhelmingly painful. I use pain relief pads, balms, massage, and elevate regularly. I hobble like a 90+ broken person and wince in pain all day everyday. I went to see Christine last night and had one 45 minute session. She did cold laser and some massage and tonight is the first evening that my feet have not been on fire with pain. I don't know what the cold laser does but I'm ready to buy one for my personal use! I suffered a rare elbow joint fracture and dislocation. The medical team that operated on my fracture sent me on my way with a bunch of medical terms that didn't make sense to me, opioids that did nothing for pain, and a list of possible PTs that I could contact. That is when I met Christine. I came to Christine with screws and a plate in place, a weird brace on, and extremely afraid to move in case anything "breaks," and I had to be operated on again. I was in pain, anxious, stressed, and had barely slept for 3 weeks since the fracture occurred. The first thing I noticed when I entered her office was the sudden drop in anxiety, and the calm -- and I had not even met her yet. When I did see her, we had an honest chat about the state of affairs. Since the moment I broke the bone, she was the first person to speak "human" to me and help me make sense of what'd happened, the recovery plan, how long it could take, and ways to get there. My experience with Physical Therapy before seeing Christine was: you see the guy with his name on the door once, then you see random students afterwards with various skill levels. My last stint did not result in success, but I preferred to believe it was just the place I went. Well, then I break my wrist, doc says I need physical therapy and suggests a place with a similar setup, I searched yelp and found Christine. I couldn't be happier than I am with Christine. She listened carefully when I explained my complex break and started slowly primarily working on my mobility manually. As we have progressed she has given me a number of exercises to do at home, which I do daily and I am so happy with the results. The best part about her is she really connects with you on a human level. She remembers me and I get to work with her every time. Bad back and need help, go see Christine. I fully understand she is not inexpensive BUT she is worth every penny. I have lived with bad issues for over 16 years. I started seeing Christine 6 months after my spinal surgery in December of 2013. I saw her weekly, out of pocket, for about a year and now see her twice a month. She has greatly improved my strength, range of motion and reduced my pain. Although I still am in pain, Christine makes it manageable. I've had issues since the accident that left me with a shattered ankle, broken fibula and fractured wrist. it's been 10 years and I still have very limited range of motion in my ankle, meaning I limp alot, can't run, squat, dance, bike, skate, etc. Sometimes it's bad enough that I have to use a cane just to walk across the room. ugh. I was referred to Chris through a colleague and I thought, "it can't hurt, I'll give her a call" Well, I'm amazed at how, after the first session with Chris, I actually felt blood flow in my leg again! I have gone to see Christine for multiple sports injuries, as well as post -op recovery treatments over the past 8 years. Christine is AMAZING! She is so knowledgeable about what is going on in my body, and not only provides excellent manual therapy, she offers assistance and guidance for self therapy at home. Despite being a fit and regular yoga participant, I had a muscle tear (from hiking) that was not healing but rather getting worse and I was getting sciatic pain so that I was unable to find comfort or sleep. Christine has a reputation as an amazing therapist so I made a plan to see her. After 2 sessions in the first week, the sciatic pain was gone. After 2 weeks the mobility returned to the area and I was able to resume regular yoga and other exercises. After 4 weeks I feel fully restored and very much more aware of the warning cues my body gives me about overusing muscle groups. The results were great, and I commend Christine and her practice for their overall level of excellence. They take insurance and do all the billing and followup quite skillfully. I am able to use my HSA / Flex spending to cover what insurance doesn't. The office is lovely - its like going to a high end spa rather than a medical facility. The heated table and artfully appointed room really helps the body to relax and release held tightness and injury. While she does prescribe exercises for your homework, the time spent with her in manual therapy is extremely unique and it feels SO good - as if you can feel the healing happening. I really look forward to the visits. (Something I'd never done with other PT visits.) And finally, Christine has such expertise - in our initial session, she used an iPad app she called "Mr. Body" where she can show you in 3D, removing muscle layers as needed from the interactive skeleton/muscle bands, to show you where your injury is within the whole system; and to see clearly what needs to work together for you to heal. I now plan to go into maintenance mode so that I see her on a regular basis to things from getting out of whack. (As I am getting to that age where things can slide if not held in check...) I visited Christine four times for a sprained ankle several months ago. I have no issue with the physical therapy - she did a good job, and my ankle healed. However, her business practices with me were highly questionable, and I would not recommend her to anyone else. When I first visited her I signed her Patient Terms of Agreement. It stated that my co-pay per visit would be $50. Her assistant had even called my insurance company before my first visit to confirm that I had already met my deductible for the year. The only mention of the total charge per visit was a reference to $150/visit on this document. I was asked to make my co-payment at the beginning of each visit. After I had visited her four times, I received my first statement from my insurance company. It was then that I discovered that she had billed the insurance company $475 for my initial one hour visit, and $300 for each of the subsequent three visits. My insurance company paid her 70% of this amount as is customary for an out of network provider. I have a Health Savings Account and by default, my HSA pays a provider 'what I owe' automatically. So after insurance paid Christine 70%, my HSA paid her the other 30% even though I had already made a co-payment. I saw this as a minor clerical mistake, and I contacted Christine to alert her so she could refund me what the HSA paid her. However, Christine refused to refund what she received from the HSA, and only refunded my initial co-payment. She kept $412.50 from the HSA, when she was only entitled to the $200 (4 payments of $50) that I had committed to, and already paid. She tried to argue with me that a co-payment is only a deposit on an amount owed. But what primarily concerned her was that she would get in trouble with the insurance company if she refunded my money. I was truly shocked by this behavior. I spent much time on the phone with her to try to get her to do the right thing, but she refused. It is unfortunate because her level of care was good. But her business practices are the worst I've ever encountered. read more

I have a very real story to share so if you are in physical pain and want to REALLY make improvements on your physical well being then continue reading! If not just understand Christine gets results with her methods. A longer read is my current situation. I injured my chest mainly (I have herniated discs as well from before) a couple years ago doing a wrestling move with a friend. The doctors said that I likely damaged my cartilage on my floating ribs. They could not find anything abnormal to them on my MRI and CT scans (this was with Kaiser) even though I saw abnormalities within the MRI scan as the thoracic surgeon showed me the image. I pointed it out and he said "oh yes there does appear to be a mass there". Then I was passed on to other scans and they wanted to start sending me to shoulder specialists... My point is that for months all I got was appointments for more and more dang scans, expensive scans at that, with ZERO RELIEF. I understand that the medical industry has to gain knowledge about you before they can actually help you, but MRI, CT, Xray all starts adding up fast even with a copay, and having no relief was simply BS! So, I bounced from Kaiser's help with my issue and went to my preferred Doctor, Dr. Ronald Fujimoto from Rehab One in Los Gatos, CA. He recommended Christine and I trust him on his recommendations. I made an appointment by calling the number and leaving a message. The next day Mario called and scheduled an appointment very professionally . I will admit that at my first appointment I was very apprehensive about this working as to this point I had experienced zero help from anyone with my issue yet. Christine quickly made me feel very comfortable by making some small talk as she began to feel out what was wrong with me. I was very comfortable with coming back after my first session as what she explained to me about what she does and how she does it made me relaxed instantly. I can tell when people understand their professions and when they genuinely love what they do or not. Christine carries both traits exceptionally well with a very personal touch added as a bonus. I will be truthful in my experience as to how much time and effort I put into my recovery as to assist those who have actually read this far as you must also be experiencing something painful or frustrating. I have seen Christine coming up on 3 months in a short while with 2 sessions every week. I take in what Christine explains to me about my body very seriously and try my best to visualize my body parts on the inside the way she explains to me. I also very carefully remember the massaging techniques she uses so I may use them at home as well as if I am getting more professional therapy. And there in lies the magic in Christine's work. I rip my exercises at home EVERY SINGLE DAY. That is key if you want real results. Do your best to listen and understand the program she creates for you and understand you need more than just physical therapy at her office, you need it at home too. I have spent quite a bit of money on home supplies to be truthful. I do feel you can do a lot of the things learned at home without these extra things but they do help a lot. Things like the tennis ball device Christine gives to most on your first visit as well as the soft blue foam roller from OPTP (you buy this if you want it) are what I use most. Results on my chest injury today are great! Through all the hard work Christine and I have done I can now move my left shoulder more than my right which was uninjured. I have better range on my 'bad' side then on my 'good' side thanks to Christine! It is amazing. What has not changed are the very small painful nerve spots that sometimes flare up at the original site of the injury. What she has fixed though was that mass in the MRI I pointed out to the doctor as well as the extreme tightness in my upper left chest/shoulder area. I was afraid to use my injured arm to do pretty much anything. Now I can move great and I use my injured arm again! Give Christine a chance and she will make a personal get well soon program for you to follow! It works! But remember you MUST do your homework and be genuine to your recovery or you will likely have a harder time achieving results. Also remember results do not happen overnight, they take time. The injury will never just disappear completely but you will learn how to damn near make it go away with what you gain with Christine and Perfect Balance Physical Therapy! read more

I am above the knee amputee. I've been having killer nerve pain not phantom pain but nerve pain in my amputated leg. After having seen a number of Physical Therapists for a long standing back problem and having it get worse after visits, I had begun to lose faith in PT's being able to help me. When I went into see a podiatrist for a new niggle he referred me to Christine Doblar with a prescription to treat the foot area only. However, within 20 minutes of testing my flexibility and patiently hearing about the chronic back pain I was suffering from, Chris decided to take my problem on as a whole and not an isolated foot problem. Her manual therapy is pure magic and she does not believe in asking her patients to indulge in unnecessary exercises requiring swanky gym memberships. Instead, she focuses on targeted solutions that can be worked on at home. She is genuinely interested in healing and does that with a passion. I love the fact she strongly believes that her role is to put herself out of a job rather than create a long term co-dependence!! After a few weeks of being treated by Chris, I feel better than I have felt in years and have the tools and tricks to manage my pain should I need them. This is all thanks to Chris! Like everyone else, I highly recommend Perfect Balance Physical Therapy. Christine is amazing and truly such a warm, wonderful person! While training for a half marathon, I started to have a lot of sharp pain in my glutes and hamstings. The best decision I made was to give Christine a call. Not only did she have me pain-free within a week, but she then helped suggest several different ways to help manage and alleviate the pain if flare ups happened while I continue to run. I leave her office so happy, relaxed, and feeling tons better! What I love best about Christine is her passion for physical well being and her ability to connect so easily with people. I have six major spine surgeries in the past four years, the last one in 2012 resulted in a complete fusion of my spine from T3 through my sacrum. At the time I found Christine Doblar just several weeks after my surgery, I was still wearing a full body brace and could walk and move my neck, but that was about it. After working with Chris 2-3 times a week for the past year, I am walking and moving testimony of what an incredible physical therapist who will not give can do for a patient with an extremely complex surgery. Chris took on my challenges alongside me, coaching my physical mind-body connection and improvement every day and every step of the way. Initially I worked on deep breathing and neck rolls. Now I do full on leg squats, Pilates ball pushups, plank-type moves, and upper weight workouts for an hour twice a week and I walk every day for at least an hour.. One would never know that I have had back surgery and my surgeon puts my recovery in the top 3% of those having had this type of fusion. Chris is professional, super smart, funny, and very patient. Very patient. I owe my journey and return to true physical and mental well to Christine. Five stars does not do justice to the care and talent she provides her clients. read more

I hurt my back at work and over a two year period was sent to 3 different Physical Therapist which did absolutely nothing positive for me, they were all what I call PT Mills, there is zero individual attention, everyone is treated the same regardless of their injury or progress, then my Doctor sent me to Perfect Balance where I could tell instantly the I was in good hands, Christine Doblar did a thorough assesment of MY injury/situation and began a program specifically to my needs and abilities and reassessed my progress and what was or was not working on every visit and changed my routine accordingly, each routine was discussed about why I was doing it and the benefit of it. I was referred by several friends to Christine's practice after I had developed adhesive capsulitis following reconstructive shoulder surgery. I had been working closely with another physical therapist, but my mobility was not improving and my pain level was worsening. I would anticipate each session because of the pain I knew I would experience as a result. Due to my limited mobility and unbearable pain in my shoulder, neck, back and arm, I was unable to work or even perform some of the simplest tasks, such as getting dressed. As a working mother of two young children, my life was significantly impacted. During my first session with Christine, much of the time was spent with her asking questions no one had previously asked, in addition to determining what the focus would be in my sessions. Most importantly, she gave me the hope and support I needed to start working toward less pain and more mobility. I've been a patient at this practice for just 2 weeks now, but I am already making progress and taking small steps in the right direction. I have simple "exercises/stretches" I can do at home, helping me to not only work on the physical aspects of my condition, but work on the emotional aspects as well.
