The best experience I've had with an electrician, hands down. Emailed Alive Electric on July 22nd, got a response July 23rd, troubleshot with some pictures of the outlet, the panel, etc. for a few days and got them out to our home by July 28th! Great electrician, great person and overall solid attitude and work ethic. Not only did he find the issue with our A/C's (Yes, during 85-97 degree weather!) outlet, but also helped mark, label the breaker circuits it belonged to and also showed me how to clean the A/C air filter since we were testing it out. I had a question concerning our home in Trilogy at Redmond Ridge and hooking up a generator in the event of a power outage. Paul of Alive Electric already had an appointment here in Trilogy and stopped by after his call. At no charge, he examined our main panel along with the secondary panel already wired for backup power. We hired Alive Electric to do a number of projects that we had put off during the pandemic. They were great! They immediately had good suggestions to make the changes we want happen, and executed everything in a timely and neat manner. They installed new can lights in our ceilings, installed remote fan controls on the wall, moved switches in our garage, installed a new plug in a bathroom, installed a wireless switch in another bathroom (a much cheaper and simpler fix than running wire to provide a second light switch) installed two ceiling fans, and made a few other repairs too. When I first emailed them, they said they would be by on day X to make a bid, and they were there on day X. They said they would show up on day Y to do the work, and showed up right on time. They came to our door wearing masks, which I appreciate. (We are trying to protect our unvaccinated granddaughter). Shoes came off at the door. All the work was done neatly and cleanly. Every bit of fluff and dust was vacuumed up. The bid was reasonable, and the work was all done in line with their bid. They did so TERRIBLY for us. About a year ago our attic fan went out, and we hired them to replace it. They did, and it has never once turned on. Best I can tell, they just didn't understand what they were doing. After a few months, and we realized it legitimately had NEVER turned on after the install, they came out to repair it, and said it worked perfectly. Cue another few months wait, and we finally convinced them (in December) that it wasn't working. They told us they had a part on order, but things were taking a long time. We waited until mid-January and hassled them again until they committed to coming February 6th. Feb 6th came and went, and now they won't return my phone calls or emails. read more

Derek and Seth did a fantastic job repairing my outdoor lighting wiring. When my outdoor lighting wasn't working Alive Electric was able to figure out the solution for it and my outdoor lighting works perfectly now ! Alive Electric and its owner, Derek, came highly recommended via a Facebook Duvall Community Board Thread where someone was asking for a good electrician. And now, I want to share my experience with them on Yelp. In Late Feb. 2017, I had to take a day off work to be home for some emergency plumbing work, so I decided to email Alive Electric and see if I could schedule a visit on the same day as the plumber to get a few electrical project estimates. Much to my surprise, the email I sent on 2/27 was answered on 2/28, and they were able to mark me down for the day when I would be home (3/1). Derek and Seth showed up during the block of time (1-2 pm) they told me, and we got right down to discussing the work I wanted to do. My primary request was to install an outlet behind the spot where I intended to wall-mount a HDTV. They completed the work, which included adding one outlet 5' above the floor plus an entry (next to the new outlet) and exit (near floor) receptacle box for my HDMI and COAX cables, in about a half-hour. For the next half-hour, we discussed future projects (i.e. moving recessed lights; installing a ceiling fan) and I got a feel for how complex this work may or may not be, and how much time it would take. Throughout the visit, Derek and Seth were very polite, friendly, and straightforward with the way they approach projects, and advised me on which of my choices in the proposed jobs would consume more time, or raise the post-project cost (i.e. wall-patching drywall) of additional work. I only wish I was better prepared for their visit by, say, having the HDTV Mount ready to install (they offered to install this, but I had not purchased one yet), or by buying other components in advance to start additional projects right then (i.e. hanging lights to replace the recessed ones over our kitchen island). So, my one bit of advice for anyone looking to utilize Alive Electric would be to have multiple projects and their associated materials ready to go because they charge by the hour and are efficient and exact at what they can do! For a number of years, I had gone with one of the bigger electrician companies in the area for all of my project needs...In fact, I went with them twice before to install outlets and cable receptacle boxes for wall-mounted HDTVs. This company charged in the ballpark of $300-500 for this type of project, but Alive Electric did it for notably less $$$ and with the same standard of quality. read more

Derek is competent, fast, fair and friendly. I do most of my own home repair and maintenance, but i felt i needed help with a particular task. Derek homed in on the issue, but also found two other easy to fix issues that were related, which is why i hired a professional. I'm glad i hired him rather than doing this one myself. It was money well spent. And he let me watch, as he enjoys conversation while working. This is the mark of someone with enough experience to be totally confident in their own abilities. I plugged in a leaf blower to an outlet and one whole section of my house lost power. One handyman, two handymen, three handymen (chaching, chaching, chaching) later the problem persisted. Derek was brilliant in troubleshooting the (simple) loose wire in a outlet that was functioning itself, but not allowing the electric to continue to produce electricity on down the line (technical jargon). Just left the Duvall area but Derek has done work for my family twice now. He is great. The last time he came in and helped me out of a bind with an electrical project that i accidentally created. He didnt give me too much flack for it and was really helpful in getting it resolved. Since i no longer live in his service area i will be sad to not be able to use his company. However, i cant say enough how great he is to work with. His rates are fair. His work is good. And he is all around a good guy from the times i have worked with him. If you have an an electrical project i think you would be in good hands to hire alive electric. My only complaint is that sometimes he can be hard to reach via phone. But that is a minor issue. Derek was fantastic - efficient and effective. We had a whole list of electrical issues, and he tackled them one by one. He didn't just do what we asked, he advised us on better ways to make things work - like getting better LED bulbs so that we didn't have to change out all of our dimmers, which saved us hundreds of dollars. He also solved some mysteries with our wiring that others before him gave up on - like finding disconnected transformers that were hidden in our basement. And he was fast! Took him less than 5 minutes to change out each old smoke detector high up in our ceilings, including adding new wire harness and mounting plate so that everything looks brand new. He listened well and clearly explained the easiest, most cost-effective ways to solve our electrical issues. His hourly rate was in line with others, but the quality of his work and his speed were terrific. We hired him because he came highly recommended by friends.
