After consulting several vendors, we chose PEARCE to install a Hybrid Heat Pump system and an Electric Vehicle (EV) Charger in our home. We are HIGHLY satisfied with all aspects of the experience, including the functioning of the installed equipment. All of the many PEARCE team members I had contact with were a pleasure to work with. Communications with PEARCE were prompt, succinct, and complete; expectations were clear. Pricing was reasonable. A detailed description of our experience follows: PEARCE was introduced along with 2 other vendors by Puget Sound Energy (PSE) as a candidate for installing an EV Charger (which we had procured separately) and associated electrical wiring and breakers. The PEARCE representative, Isaac, made a much better impression than the other vendors. He appeared in person (rather than over the phone like another vendor) to examine the site and he answered all my questions; thanks to the information he provided we moved the installation point to a better location. PSE also introduced 3 vendors for installation of a Heat Pump, a system that would be new to our 1970s-era split-level house. Two of these vendors proposed (based on our home's square footage) a 3-ton capacity Hybrid Heat Pump, with one stating that additional ducting would be needed; the third vendor was adamant that we would need a ductless heat pump because a Hybrid Heat Pump system would not function with our home's ducting. The variance in Heat Pump proposals left me confused. Therefore, due to Isaac's positive impression, I asked PEARCE to make a Heat Pump proposal. Brian visited the following day and was able to alleviate my concerns with his technical knowledge and his rich experience with Heat Pumps. He said that though he would be happy to install a 3-ton capacity system, he believed a 2.5-ton capacity Hybrid Heat Pump system would be a better fit given factors beyond our home's square footage, such as the size of our ducting and our house layout. The PEARCE team arranged to have both the EV Charger and Hybrid Heat Pump installed at the same time. Isaac installed both the EV Charger and the electrical wiring for the Heat Pump, including placing easy-to-read printed labels on the installed breakers. A multi-person team led by Jake installed the Hybrid Heat Pump system over two days. I was very pleased by the routing of the lines between the external Heat Pump and interior Air Handler (located in our laundry room): no conduit needed to be run on the exterior of our home and no interior walls needed to be cut open and repaired. A nice touch by Jake's team was the fabrication of a metal pocket next to the Air Handler for storing the equipment manuals. The installation teams were respectful of our property, including wearing booties or laying cloth rugs to protect our floors. Alison of the office team was a pleasure to deal with in setting up dates, dealing with a minor issue, and invoicing. We have been able to experience the functioning of the installed Hybrid Heat Pump system on both cool and warm days and are very satisfied; the 2.5-ton capacity system that Brian recommended meets our expectations for both heating and cooling. Regarding heating: compared to the gas furnace it replaced, the new system keeps our home at a more even temperature both throughout the zones of our house and across the hours of the day. Regarding cooling: previously we had no cooling system; the heat pump exceeds our expectations in cooling our entire home effectively with relatively even temperatures across zones. I would love to give Pearce and the technician Tim 10 stars but yelp only allows 5 max... My 4-year Carrier HVAC was performing inefficiently and I found a HVAC company (4.7 yelp star) to do a maintenance service. My nightmare started with the maintenance service. The maintenance company unpluged the capacitor in the AC unit, trying to upsell a new brand during the maintenance (usage rate of the current capacitor is only 25%...) During the process, they did something unknown that broke the compressor and refused to fix it with warranty. Since the original company who installed the unit went out of business, I had to find another company to repair the AC unit which deals with Carrier warranty. I quoted with 5+ HVAC companies. None of them was willing to do a thorough inspection to assess if compressor exchange was viable. All of them said it was too "risky" to only exchange compressor, and they all offered to exchange the whole system HVAC+furnace ( $13+K reinvestment!) Tim was the only technician that voluntarily spent almost an hour on the site, checked the HVAC unit thoroughly. He checked the compressor, refridgent leakage risk and potential wiring defaults. After the diagnosis, he suggested that he was fairly confident that exchanging the compressor only would fix the problem ($5K). Then he and the other technician spent 10+ hours across two days to exchange the compressor, wire everything correctly, check both cooling and heating functions and make sure there is no refriengent leak. In times where "upsell" is the new norm, I very much appreciate Pearce and Tim's customer obsession mindset and the superior craftsmanship. read more

I contacted Pearce Heating & A/C to give me a quote on a heat pump or A/C for my tri-level home. I had the pleasure of having Brian, the owner, come out and provide me with the quote. He took the time to listen to what I was looking for and came up with a thoughtful cost-effective hybrid solution. While I ultimately ended up going with a different contractor (because I'm a bit of an HVAC nerd and wanted a more robust, complicated, and expensive solution), I think the vast majority of homeowners would've been happy with the performance Brian's solution would deliver at a fraction of the price point. During the quote, Brian saw that I was in the middle of a DIY remodel and provided some helpful tips and was even willing to have me do some of the more basic work, something that no other HVAC contractor was willing to consider. Brian still owns the company, unlike so many companies these days that are owned by private equity. They installed my air conditioner in the middle of SNOW. It was hilarious because they had to heat up the air conditioner for test run. Since it was too cold to use it right after installation, they called me back the next Spring to test run again. They have their in-house electrician and thus their quote is very competitive. They installed my furnace many years ago too and it never gave me troubles. I highly recommend this service. The only con is that they do NOT install water heater and I have to look for other business. Another tip. When they suggest to replace furnace and air conditioner together, listen to them. I have Pearce do an annual check on my A/C and furnace. In January, they replaced my aging furnace and did an excellent job. I had a May appointment for Bill to check my A/C. In April we had a warm spell and when I turned on my A/C it did not work and it froze my thermostat. Since my appointment was still a few weeks off, I knew I couldn't wait that long to use my furnace or A/C. I called the office and Bill quickly responded to my urgent situation. He replaced a component in my A/C unit and fixed the thermostat as well. He had to "work me in" because he had a full schedule, but he always responds quickly when there is an urgent need. Pearce came out because my air conditioning unit wasn't turning on. My parents used Pearce in the past and were happy with their service so I trusted them enough to give them a try. The technician appeared to do all they could to fix it, and then proceeded to give me a quote for 16K because I apparently "needed" to replace both my furnace and air conditioning unit. Luckily, I had a trustworthy HVAC company come today to give me another opinion. They identified a simple bent contact on the thermostat panel. They bent the contact back into place, and magically my AC started right up. I am tired of companies assuming I am stupid because I'm a single woman (and a single homeowner!). Thank goodness I got another opinion because that company saved me thousands upon thousands of dollars for a simple fix. The pressure tactics from Pearce were so obvious (we only have one appointment available anytime soon and you should accept the estimate right away; we are almost out of stock of the replacement units you need). We just added A/C to our rental house in Sammamish. We did our due diligence and got 3 bids and Pearce was the best bid. Bryan came out to do the bid and explained that the bottom floor would be cooler than the upper floor as heat rises. We asked what options we might have to cool the upper floor. Bryan answered and provided options to get the upper floor cooler. Since this is a rental house we didn't want to install mini-splits as that option was more than we wanted to spend. Another option was to add an additional air return upstairs to pull the hot air. The bid for a new furnace, a new A/C unit and adding an additional return was very reasonable so we moved forward. We got our schedules coordinated and all of the work was done within 4 days. The crew who did the work was amazing! Every single worker was professional, courteous, knowledgeable and customer centric. They explained the work and process they were going to undertake and sought our input on where we wanted the A/C unit and where we wanted the additional air return grill. We had an issue with the lights in the hallway not working and now that Pearce has licensed electricians we were able to have that work also completed. Each day the crew arrived on time and they worked long and hard each day. They were very respectful of the property and wore booties on their shoes inside and cleaned up the garage each night before leaving. I can't say enough good things about Pearce Heating & A/C. We will be long-term loyal customers who will have our rental as well as our primary residence service by Pearce every year. read more

I called the company to have our furnace valve replaced after PSE mechanic informed us there was a gas leak. I gave the make and model of our furnace as well as the exact valve involved to the company on the phone. I was told that the company will send someone to diagnose the problem and fix as needed. On the day of appointment, the mechanic did not even try to diagnose the problem. He said he trusted PSE's diagnoses and no further diagnostic tests were needed. He also did not have the replacement valve required to fix the issue. It was a waste of everyone's time. And we are $200 short for basically something they could have told me on the phone. I know everyone needs to make a living but stealing someone else's hard earned money isn't the right way. read more

Wow. Brian and his crew are amazing. This is the second time I've had him install AC and a furnace. in 2003 he did all the ducting, gas, and HVAC for our home addition and remodel. His bid was competitive and his work was outstanding. He can back multiple times to add ducts and make sure everything was perfect. He never tried to upsell me but rather talked me out of some expensive ideas I had. I regretted it when I didn't listen to him. Last week my heat failed and it was cold. It was time to replace the system. It was Saturday and most places were closed. I didn't realize Brian was still in business. I called, they answered right away, and Brian came out on Monday! By the middle of the day I had a bid. He had an install crew out on Tuesday. Heat was working end of day Tuesday and everything, including AC, was finished end of day Wednesday. This was crazy fast and his bid was fair and competitive. I don't think I've ever had anything major fail and get fixed that fast! The whole crew was super nice. The office staff always answered the phone or email and was friendly. They arranged the permits and scheduled city inspections around my schedule. Response time was excellent. Tim and James did the install. They were nice, polite, friendly, and hardworking. They are the kind of guys I would enjoy working with on a daily basis. The knew what they were doing and were efficient. I was impressed with the quality of workmanship. Wires were tucked in and organized, even behind the covers. The vents were straight and sealed. Everything was done perfectly - certainly better than I could do it! They cleaned up and even raked the ground around the AC unit. As a surprise, they painted a special cover I had that diverted air - it was rusted and they painted in a nice black. I didn't even ask! Brian came out and inspected everything and made sure it all worked. They left the job site clean and with everything working. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Brian and his team. Our 14 year-old heat pump gave out Tuesday evening of the recent week of extreme high temperatures, and I sent an email to Pearce late that night. Fantastic service. Initially called to get a quote to replace AC only. They were thorough, counted registers, and checked inside the furnace panel. It turns out there was a dangerous leak inside the furnace with the condensation line, that was just a centimeter away from the circuit board. Was a bit stunned to see all the rust inside the furnace, apparently the leak had been happening for years. Ok so time to replace both AC & Furnace as they are both very old. I highly recommend Pearce Heating & a/c for your HVAC needs. Our furnace stopped working (with burnt circuit board) and Pearce Heating was the only company that gave the same day appointment to take a look. Their technician Clair checked everything on the existing furnace which was more than 20 years old and recommended that it will be better to invest in a new one since the old one was also not energy efficient. Moreover, it was not easy to get replacement parts of the old model for the repair. He then reviewed the current setup in detail and recommended that we can go with a 96% efficient gas furnace. Since I have been trying to get air conditioner installed as well, this seemed like a good opportunity and once again Clair looked at all possible options for setup and install. Due to unique setup of my old furnace, it was challenging to plan the installation of new unit with a/c. During this entire time, Clair educated me on many different things related to HVAC which helped me in the decision. The entire install crew (Mike, Tim, Jacob and Tj) was very professional and worked really hard through the snow and cold to complete the installation on time. Our neighbors smelled gas, PSE came and red-tagged us (shut off our gas at the furnace and killed the power - the furnace was bad). Add on top (1) it was the coldest week of the year (2) our normal heating place said they were booked for over a month, and that made us pretty nervous. Our usual place recommended Pearce so we called them up, they came out right away and verified what PSE saw. They gave me the whole write-up of what I was almost certainly looking at (cracked heat exchanger), my options (including fix vs replace, but I was already on a 12yr old heater, and replacing the HE is like serious surgery), and an estimate within an hour of the visit. I went for the replacement and they had a crew out the next day, called ahead as expected, mounted it properly (so it was accessible, unlike the last installer), insulated my gravity drain that I had hacked together to keep the old furnace alive, gave me all the info for the inspection (part of bill, easy for me to schedule with city directly), gave me all the rebates I deserve, including filing for a $700 rebate on the cracked heat exchange due to a class action suit against the maker of my ancient furnace. I was super happy with everyone involved in this -- I've already shared the contact with all my neighbors and I'll be using Pierce instead of my old place for all future service of this home! read more

I have a 30 year old furnace that I am 'babying' along. I needed to service my furnace to get ready for winter. I went with Pearce because of the wonderful reviews on yelp and I wasn't disappointed. I scheduled my moms house, my house and a rental, to be done the same day. They arrived early and agreed that we need to keep these older furnaces cleaned and efficient. The rental furnace will be the first to go because a fan is making noise. He recommended waiting to replace and at that point, call them and they can come the next day.
