AAA! I beg of you. PLEASE remove them from your list of certified mechanic shops. I really wish that I could give less than zero stars. Negative 100 please. Bear with me, because this will be long, but worth a read before you bring it to this heap of a shop.. To start, Nick is one of the worst people I have ever dealt with in a "professional" setting. We only brought the car there because the AAA tow driver talked us into bringing it to this nightmare of a place. When my car first got towed there for a flat tire, he called and said "what do you want me to do with this?" uhh...you're supposed to be the mechanic.. how should I know? anyway, we had all of the tires replaced and a free oil change (the nicest thing he did..). He then said there was a problem with my alternator and we said it was ok to replace it because we were frustrated and just wanted the issues fixed. Boy were we wrong. Fast forward 3 months and my car would not start. The defective alternator that he put in killed my battery. We had a second battery put in and brought it back to check the alternator. He said that the alternator was working just fine when anyone else I asked said it was running way too low. He made me feel stupid when I went and told him what other mechanics were saying. He pretty much laughed me out the door. THEN! boom. Another dead battery approx 3 weeks later. Finally had it towed to a different mechanic and they said that the alternator is not running with enough volts to support healthy battery life. They put in a new battery and alternator and I have not had an issue since.. with that at least. 11 months later, my tire went flat. Had it towed there only because of the warranty. He called and said that it is not a warranty issue because there is an issue with my "piece of junk car". Yeah, a man that we paid a lot of money to said this to me.. he even pointed out another car in his lot that he is supposed to be working on and said that was a piece of junk too. Sorry that we don't all have a bunk company the way overcharges so we can buy fancy cars. After arguing with him, we just went back to get the key. Extremely unapologetic and rude rude rude. Got it towed to Midas, they gave me new tires and an alignment for $400. Lord only knows what this trash company would have charged me. I am delighted to be done with him and his company. AAA sent them to tow my broke down car. Tow guy was nice and talked me into having my car serviced there instead towing to my regular mechanic for ease and cost. $1400 to repair my radiator and when they delivered my car after completing the work, my check engine light was still on and one of the cylinders was blown. Needless to say I did not and will not go back. Shame on AAA for sending me a mechanic that couldn't get the job done right. I did complain to AAA too. read more

In a very stressful situation where I didn't know what to do or where to take my car, I was very fortunate to work with AAA and be linked with All About Automotive. The towing side of the house was wonderful, even dropping my car back off to me when the work was done. The service side and Nick were also wonderful, always keeping me up to date with the work being done. I never felt like there was a moment I was not informed and they'd worked even overnighting a part, and test driving the car to ensure the issue was fixed. SCAM! QUOTED $1300 FOR A $160 REPAIR & STARTED LEAVING FAKE 1-STAR REVIEWS ON MY BUSINESS PROFILE! Will be getting my lawyers involved. They're a shop that also tows for AAA & when they came to tow my van, offered to take it to their shop instead of the one near me for a free oil change, so I said why not. Called me back later in the day with a $1,300 quote ($175 diagnostic fee??) to replace a wire connection that was maybe $100-150 for the connector and a 1-2hr job. Called several nearby shops that quoted 1/3 their price so I towed it elsewhere.... AAA of course assigned them for the 2nd tow to the new shop. They gave me an hour ETA but took 2 1/2 hrs to pick it back up from their own shop & drop it off, then never called me with any updates after. The new shop called me the next morning saying all they had to do was rewire it, would take an hour tops, and ended up only being $163!! They try to take advantage of your vehicle not starting and the fact most people wouldn't bother with towing it elsewhere, so they charge you extra and hope you're frustrated enough to just pay it and get it fixed. I even drove over to the shop before towing it the 2nd time to have the tech, Adam, show me the damages & better explain what the $1,300 was for (in case I was misunderstanding - I work on cars, but electrical is not my strong suit) and he kept getting irritated, repeating the steps he used to diagnose it, and completely avoided explaining how a job that multiple shops confirmed was a 1-2 hr job would take 5hrs??? If you check their reviews on Yelp & AAA, there are many others that say the same rates were given to them as well... what a poor way to operate!! read more

I needed a tow from my house to a mechanic. The manager suggested that I use his services because I could get an AAA discount and a free oil change. By the late afternoon, I called the office and they didn't know my car was even there!!!! The man I spoke to was incredibly rude and said that he doesn't have anything to do with the tow side of the business. He said that he is short staffed and doesn't have time to look at every car in one day. So I suggested that he call his towing side of the business and explain to him not to suggest to any more people to leave their cars at your garage. Such rudeness and disrespectful service! Never go there for mechanical problems, but for towing, they're fine. read more

I had my car towed through AAA because it would not shift out of Park. This is the company that showed up to tow me to my trusted shop of 15 years. In the process they damaged my car considerably (just under 2K in repairs). The owner denied all responsibility because his driver stated he didn't do it. The damage was clearly caused by the bottom of the front valance being dragged down the tow ramp of the flatbed truck as this was a sports car that sits low to the ground. Based on the repair shop's security video, because the car was unable to roll freely off the ramp (again, it would not shift out of Park), the driver jerked the truck backwards by braking hard to get the car off and the car bounced up and down striking the ramp in the process. The license plate housing ripped out of the front bumper as the car was unloaded. Their driver placed it over the damaged bumper to take pictures of the car from a standing position as evidence that it arrived okay. He then threw the plate housing into the trunk of the car and placed the key into the shop drop box before he drove away. There was no damage prior to the tow. It was a pristine high end sports car, not some beater. Trying to resolve this issue with them, they were rude, abrasive, and awful. read more

I first heard about All About when my car battery was dead from not driving during COVID. I didn't drive my car for a couple months, so when I called AAA the service vehicle was from All About. The battery was the easy part, but I ended up needing more work, so they towed it to their shop and did fantastic work. Repair that was suppose to take three days took nine days and wasn't done correctly. I have AAA and needed a tow. The hubby must've been in strange mood to let them talk him into trying their shop, when all along we have a reputable and trusted shop we always go to. The car wouldn't start. They charged us $275 to tell us in technical nonsense terminology that our key fob needed a new battery. They are probably fine for a tow. Do not trust them for anything else. Our mistake, rather hubby's mistake. I knew we shouldn't try anyone just because of a sales pitch and I was right. Run far away! 4 stars for the tow. They did a good job with that. As they towed the car to their shop, I was shaky and concerned about it, but they were kind and professional. The people in the front office were respectful and helpful, not just with me but with others who came in or called about their cars. The mechanics found the problem with my car and they went overboard to get me back on the road safely. Chris the owner is a snake oil salesman and a misogynist. He will lie through his teeth to get any money he can. My father takes care of my fully handicapped 22 year old sister who is in diapers that my 63 year old father has to change everyday. Yet this man Chris takes advantage of my father and when I called him and talked to him he kept calling me dear and honey. I asked him repeatedly not to call me names like that and asked him if he calls men the same thing. Even though I kept asking him not to call me, a 36 year old woman, baby names, he kept doing it. Our car that we brought in was done for and this shop knew that, instead of telling my father that, he tells him if they take the engine apart they can fix it. So my father pays 5k and the car comes back. We barely used it as covid was happening. So 1400 miles later my car breaks down and guess what there not a drop of oil in the car. How did my car go through 7 quarts of oil in 1400 miles?? So this man tells my dad the car is 2k over from the oil change date. Good thing I kept the sticker because I called him out and got him to admit that was another fabrication of the "truth". He said to me on the phone that he told my dad it wasn't going to work yet that's not what he told my father. A new engine is less that what they charged my dad to "clean the engine" but this guy just saw a pay day. He didn't think about that he was ripping off a family who can't afford it. Instead of having integrity and telling my father the problem can't be fixed he decided to just make himself some cash. Also we have been trying to get my dead car back for days and they left us a voicemail saying they are getting back my car from a Chevy dealer?!?!? We still have no idea why it was there and why they didn't mention that my car was going to be at a dealer. Shady all around. They did a comprehensive check on my new vehicle to ensure it is in great running condition. Next, I had my brakes done here. They even offered me a ride home in the tow truck and picked me up upon completion of job which was a nice personalized add - on. I had bought an extended service plan through Century Automotive, so my 1st question was if you find something wrong, will you assist me in getting pre authorized for a repair, they agreed, so I drove a little further to All About Automotive. My local auto shop was confused about service plans and declined to assist, the dealership makes you wait days on end, so I remembered All About Automotive, I had used them a few years ago when I lived in Elk Grove and was happy with the service back then also, so glad I remembered this place. read more

I would normally never review a tow company because general consensus is 99.99% of them suck (either due to rude staff or poor service) but this company is by far the exception. My honda CRV needed a tow late one night from a local Wendy's and the tow driver they sent (Tom I believe?) was very professional. He had my car towed to my house in no time and even backed it into my parking space. On average this happens so when it does--- YOU WANT these folks to have your back not just to tow u or check up in your battery but mostly because the employees here treat you phenomenally! Genuine care for u mostly, then for your happiness with their service and also you know these folks like Tom and Carrie Ann believe the brand is one like how a mom and pop believe in their product. Not that many people actually talk like that. They informed me of things as a AAA member I didn't even know I had access to and discounts. Carrie Ann help and guidance assisted me in making sure I wasn't being taken for a ride at the shop I was towed to over the weekend. I'm a nutshell I was in a jam and the 2 folks at All About Automotive reinstated my belief in humanity. Oh and the haul back to my drop off point because my dumb ass left my charger in the tow made my heart sink! Like OMG! I was calling it a loss but Tom surprised the hell out of me and brought it to me Next time I visit my sister I'm getting my oil change here. I first worked with All About Automotive when I was a AAA member. They were sent to my house to replace the battery, which they did. My battery died a few month later again, but i was no longer a member of AAA. They came out to my house to replace it, but made me pay a $75 service fee. 3 weeks after they replaced the battery, the new battery was dead! i had it brought to a repair shop and they told me the battery needs replacing again (it wasn't the alternator or anything). I called All About Automotive & they said they would come replace it for another $75 service fee. EVEN THOUGH THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED 3 WEEKS AGO. It's like they recycled an old battery and played it off as a new one. Regardless, I wasn't going to pay an additional $75 (for a total of $150) so they could come to replace the battery AGAIN. Mind you, the average cost of a car battery is between $50-$120. Don't use them. They'll try to get as much money out of you as they can. Also, when I called to speak to the owner about the issue, the owner never called me back. read more

This is the most unprofessional place I have ever seen. Can't wait to file a complaint with AAA who sent this clown to get my car. The tow driver was rude as he can be and Unprofessional. Called the owner who said yes he's gotten complaints about the driver. Car got towed by AAA and they automatically sent it here. I received a 10% off coupon and was hoping to get a good price on whatever needed fixing. Apparently; it was a new transmission. I was quoted $7,000 for a remanufacture of it. 3 other shops in the area gave me quotes as well, $2950, $2900, and $3300 and they were all shocked and awed by what Chris was trying to get out of me. Will never return and seems like they're taking advantage of AAA cars that are immobile and feel like they have no other option. Sad because if he was fair he would've gotten my business of course. By the way, he offered a used one for $4200 whereas I was getting offers of other used ones for $1800-2400. read more

The service from when my car broke down to the time it was fixed was great. Ongoing communication and they went out of their way to ensure the car was picked up and brought back in a reasonable time. i was called when the car got to the shop after hours and then called first thing in the morning verifying my car was there. Scott at the Arlington heights il location, checked in with me multiple times through the process. The work was not only done well, it was done with heart, they went above and beyond and even gave a testimony upon my pick up about their love for working and helping the people they service. I was very impressed and after many poor services on my car I am happy to find a new place to call home for my future car repairs. Maybe a little much but this is truly from the heart, I would recommend them to any one. Great job, my car is running better then ever, it did not kill the wallet and the service was wonderful. We returned to Chicago after a vacation to find our car was dead. Called AAA for a jump only to find it may be other issues. Called AAA the next day for a tow to a repair shop. The tow truck driver from All About Automotive was very helpful, careful and courteous. He recommended we take our car to All About Automotive as they are a AAA authorized facility and closer than the dealer. We agreed as our options were limited. Megan contacted us regarding our vehicle and was prompt, kind and understanding as we lived in Michigan and had to travel back to Chicago for our car. Even though this was an unplanned expense (as most car repairs are) the price was fair, the work done quickly and we got our car back within 2 days. It was a horrible experience. They are a AAA licensed transport company. You can trust AAA but not them. They towed my car and changed the battery and alternator. But my car start making horrible noise from rear brake. They offered me it is a rear differential problem so I spent $1000 but not fixed and they still asked me extra $1500 to fix the whole part but I declined it. I went to another mechanic and found it is a bearing problem costing $200. read more

I too, ended up at About Automotive when I called AAA ...after my car broke down on I-90 on a 90 degree day... this past June. Everyone at the shop was super friendly and they took the time to explain exactly what had gone wrong with my car (the wiring on the Camshaft Position Sensor had corroded) and how the part worked. As it was a Saturday afternoon, the car couldn't be fixed right away, so Chris (the owner) personally gave me and my fiance a ride to the Metra station so we could get back to the city (where we live). The car was ready to go on Monday afternoon (new camshaft and a tune up), and I found About's prices to be pretty comprable to my regular mechanic. They even offered to pick me up at work (in the NW suburbs) to get back to the shop. When I walked in, Jay remembered my name and which car I was there to retrieve, which was impressive given that there were several other people in the shop at the time. Since the car was repaired, I have gone on a 3,000 mile road trip and another 4 hour trip and everything is running great. When I, in a total boneheaded move, managed to lock my keys in my running car one frigid morning (with everything else I needed for the day in there too), About Automotive came to my rescue. Okay, I had a little help from AAA -- I called them, they dispatched About to me. This is what AAA is for, and thank goodness for them. If I were paying for it myself, I might not have chosen About, given their distance from me, but I have to imagine the guy hopped in his truck pretty fast after getting the call, because 45 minutes later, I was signing a few papers and watching my hero of the day use a few doodads to get me back into my car. All About did the job for 125, picked me up, and were pleasant to talk to all the way through.
