I was recommended to these guys by a local. It's a local owned and operated shop. I had a piece of metal in my tire that was close to piercing it and I had to drive into the city for work. I showed up with no appointment and waited my turn for them to look at my tire. The owner or owners brother looked at my tire and got me on my way and even showed me the tire - no charge. Just said come back when we need him and gave me a calendar of those. This place totally reminds me of a shop in my hometown and I'll gladly be back. To the reviews below, even though a place owns there own tow truck doesn't make it free and yes every place charges for a value and a liner. Just replace it when you get new tires. My son was rear ended this morning. They wouldn't let us get his things out of his car without paying the tow bill. The accident was NOT my son's fault. Insurance pays for these things. The manager is nice and helpful. I had a flat tire at work and I didn't have a spare tire so I would need to be towed to a local tire shop. After getting towed by their own tow truck and replacing the bad tire with a new one, I paid a total of $372.44 upon picking the car up. Unfortunately, after getting back home, I realized that my new tire does not hold its pressure. I checked the pressure and it was less than 10 psi. So I filled it up to 35 and rechecked it after 5 mins. To my dismay, I saw the gauge reading below 30. So something is not right. I called Bernardi's and told them my story and the manager told me that my valve stem is the culprit. "No wonder I did not get any reading when I checked its pressure." he said. I did remember him checking it one last time before he handed me my keys, but did not say anything. I checked my valve stem, I could feel the air coming out from the leak and it does make a hissing noise around it. Now my problem is, they know about the situation beforehand but did not do anything or even tell me about it. What were they trying to play? For me to come back after ruining my new tire only to be replaced again by them? I may not be in a place to give them advice but they need to check and make sure everything is in order before they hand off their finished product back to their customers. As a customer, I trusted them to take care of me and this is what I get for paying almost 400 dollars? They actually told me over the phone that I can come back to their shop and they will replace my valve stem for free which they "don't normally do." I don't know how true that is but I appreciate their gesture for damage control. On a side note, he made sure to tell me to not run the tire flat and set the pressure to 40 before I start driving back to the shop because they will not cover any damage on the tire by the time I get there. Given the fact that I drive about 30 miles from work to home with a leaking valve on my newly replaced tire, it hurts to think about the extent of unnecessary damage it has received through those miles, yet they want me to go back for another trip. Give me a break. By the time I get there, my tire would probably suffer the same fate as my old one. I got my valve issue taken cared of by my local Costco and they told me that my rim was bent. I was surprised that Bernardi did not even tell me that or they simply did not recognize it. It says alot about their quality control. I had high hopes for this shop because I read the good reviews by their previous customers online. It doesn't matter now because they did not provide me with the satisfaction that I deserve. read more

Dilly Dallying and Dickering! I wish I could give them a better review but I can't. I kinda liked a couple of the cars they had for sale and got the run around on the price and if they were available. Cars were in the lot with big SALE signs on the windshield guy gave me a price. Went back and his brother/partner wanted more $. Then they bantered and said theyd discuss it then call me. I waited a week and called them and they said they were STILL deciding, that they'd call me in a few more days. LOL What the hell is this nonsense? I've never heard such a thing in retail. It was subversive like they were allergic to my money or making a decision- I bet they don't sell many, if any cars. read more

My vehicle was towing to this place from an accident. And stayed there til I figured some stuff out from my insurance, and days later when I was going to get my car out of there the guy who towed my car "misplaced" my key and remote start and said he can't find it when it was given to him. And he did not want to pay for a new key at first and my remote start which he were responsible for. The guy that towed my vehicle was so rude to me .He did end up paying for the key, but said he wasn't going to pay me for my remote start he had lost. And I'm almost 100% sure he was looking through my personal stuff I left in my vehicle as well. Super unprofessional. Never going there again! And don't recommend either. read more

I have purchased cars and trucks from Bernardi Auto Service Center for the past 15 years. I can wholeheartedly recommend Robert Bernardi and the vehicles that he sells. My most recent purchase, a Dodge Durango which is my son's car, was purchased in May, 2009. It continues to be a low purchase cost, low maintainence vehicle. I went to Ray Bernardi for my 2007 Infiniti. The service at the dealership wanted to charge me $1500 to fix an air conditioner compressor. On a lark I brought it in to Bernardi to see what they thought. Ray looked at it and told me there's nothing wrong with it. The inspection cost $28. This was the first time I used them but you can be sure I'm going to use them from now on. Honest auto mechanics? Who would have thought such a thing? The best!! read more

Despite the fact that I called on a Wednesday late afternoon, they were able to get our car in first thing the next morning and complete the necessary work by 3pm. Rob, the owner, is an unprofessional JERK, treats people like crap. He talks to people like crap. My husband has been taking our cars there for a few months and he takes good care of him. So we send my sister and he treats her like crap, over charges her for a USED tire, when she tries to dispute the price he tells her she's "one of them that just won't shut up". We are now in the middle of taking him to court. Trust me.. Unless he knows you.. He'll treat you like shit!!!!!! read more

Our kid goes to Lake Forest College and we are out of state. Car would not start, key stuck, and car sitting in LFC parking lot. We feared new ignition switch, starter, battery, more. Called first thing in the AM, and Ray said they could take care of it. Their tow truck arrived very shortly after call and they told our kid they would take care of it and would call. Shortly after lunch Ray called and had it fixed and ready to go. Very professional and we greatly appreciate the service. Certainly recommend and if needed will definitely use again! read more

Am late posting this review, but Bernardi took great care of a friend who was visiting from out of town. His vintage car was making a noise like rod knock, but Bernardi found the root cause to be two bolts that another shop had not tightened after transmission work. Ray was AMAZING!!! I totaled my truck and you always wonder who is going to show up when the police call for a tow. Ray was courteous, empathetic and extremely efficient. He worked with me ON A SUNDAY to get the car towed closer to my home. And always responded when I had questions via email/text and followed up with a phone call. Unfortunately I can't say good things about Bernardi Auto Service Center . If you want to damage your car go to the outdated unprofessional Bernardi. For your own good , please do your homework before you put your car inside that building. They are maybe good fixing cars that don't require sensors, computers or anything that has a new technology. I was reading the other reviews; they sell cars? What? How can you sell or repair cars when you have no idea what TPMS stands for ? Now , if you want them to "take care of your car" ; when you come back to pick it up expect a extra charge , don't send your wife or girlfriend to pick it up! Even if you tell them to call you during the repairing process for unexpected charges , they will not do it . Your BIG "surprise" comes at the End when you want to pick up your car. Honestly this is far the shop that goes above and beyond that provide a pleasant customer service . It just reminds me of a "nice "restaurant in Venice ,Italy when I had to pay 5 euro just because they provide tablecloth for my table, before I ordered my food. read more

I have been using Bernardi Auto Service Center Inc for nearly 10 years. My dad, who is a major car guy loved the quality of their work so much he brings all of my families cars there now. The work is always done on time, and is very affordable compared to other auto centers in the area. My boyfriend's exhaust system was completely rusted out, and Ray was able to fix it in hours and his car runs better than ever.
