A Small Bowl of Afang Soup with 2 Proteins of Choice
    Dot O.

While in Riverside I was craving a good Nigerian food because there's really none in LA (I have been to all and unfortunately, they are now watered down). After checking on Yelp I found AAC. I was skeptical at first but after seeing the pictures of the puff-puff I said I had to go here even if it's just for the puff. This is the most authentic Nigerian puff. I make puff-puff and I have ordered from no less than 7 Nigerian different caterers in Los Angeles. This is a slam dunk 10/10. Soft, moist, not greasy, not sugary, perfect size. As I looked at the menu,( big menu) I had no choice but to get a meal. So, I ordered the Afang soup with poundo yam. It tastes and look like Afang (from River State southern Nigeria delicacy). This was very flavorful although it tasted a little salty for me but didn't matter that much. Some periwinkle's were noted in the soup too which is a classic ingredient. I am definitely going back here even though it's about 1.5h drive from me it's so worth the meal. It's located inside the gas station shop, clean, decent. No eat in just take out; so order in advance food is freshly prepared and can take up to 40 mins. The puff-puff is also made fresh, it was so hot and delicious. 2 people finished the box in one sitting. I have been looking for a good Nigerian restaurant lately. Many are a hit or miss, some start well and decline ones they start getting comfortable and give the cooking to non-Nigerian kitchen helpers (not cooks). It's my first time here but from the taste of the food you can tell it's cooked by a real Nigerian cook. Ample parking, easy location, very friendly staff at check out. I'm definitely going back there to try more meals, hoping for another good meal.

I'll be honest... I was a bit skeptical that this was coming from inside a gas station but I remember that there is food inside a bucceeeeees. Anyway this was my first time trying these dishes. I gotta say that the flavors were so good! I love the spice they added to it as well! I tried the jollof rice, fufu, egusi and afang soup. In love with the flavors AND dude at the counter was super nice and helpful and patient when it came to ordering since it was my first time. So, do a phone order or be prepared to wait a bit. Their counter is right next to the gas station counter. The only reason I didn't give this review full stars is because the meat was tough. I tried the chicken, lamb, and beef and the chicken was dry and the other meats could have been a lot softer so I was disappointed by that but the flavors still a great dish!

Came here to try African food for the first time! Called in around 2 in the afternoon and picked up after work around 630pm. Brought it home and everything was still warm. We got efo riro and egusi soup along with some jollaf rice w plantain and yam fufu. My favorite was the efo riro. It was seasoned nicely and went well with the fufu. The rice was also great and the plantains were good too. The complimentary puff puffs were great as well. Overall a great first impression of African food and hopefully more to come!

All African Cuisines is my go-to place when I crave the comfort of home-cooked meals. While there's a Nigerian restaurant just 15 minutes away, I make the 45-minute drive to this place. I've visited it multiple times, and each time, the food has consistently been delectable. Every dish tastes fresh, and the portions are generous. My recent order included goat pepper soup, agusi soup with fufu, and white rice tomato stew with plantain. If you're seeking authentic Nigerian or African cuisine, you won't be disappointed. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the food is prepared promptly. The meals are freshly prepared on order.

First time going to a gas station to get a full meal. Service was fairly quick and polite for what it was. The Jollof rice was amazing and the Egusi Soup with Fufu was nice. The ambiance was that of a gas station since it's inside one.

Location: If you try to follow the map or the directions through door dash like I did, you'll get confused It's literally just in the Chevron convenience store where you pick up the food. I didn't realize that when I drove in so I was wandering for 2-3 minutes until I called them to ask. Service: So friendly and sweet! They are glad to help and want to make sure you love what you order to eat. Food: It was delicious and satisfying! My first time ever trying actual African food of any kind. I've especially always wanted to eat fufu. I was super curious about the egusi but I'm a bit of a texture person and was worried I wouldn't like that particular one so I ordered the eforiro. The eforiro was nicely seasoned and well cooked. I think it tasted good and hearty but light at the same time. It didn't make me feel heavy or gross after, so I liked it! The fufu was super fun to use my hands to eat the eforiro with. It was an interesting experience! The fufu texture is soft, pliable, and has a slight chew to it. Puff puffs were yummy! A familiar taste and texture. It's not overly sweet, just sweet enough. It would be amazing with powdered sugar and/or condensed milk on top! You could pair it with anything as it's essentially just a fried dough. These were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Overall, a great experience! It's just further than I can drive most times but I would love to try the egusi next time and a different fufu!

Left Work to try them out two Days ago. They don't open until 12 but why were they still not open. I never got a chance to try the place out. The Setup seems a bit weird as it is not just inside the Gas Station but they share the same counter. I don't smell Food cooking nor do I see a Kitchen but the Gas Station Employee said, "They should be opening soon"! Soon? I said ok but was certainly thinking, "Soon, it's after 12"! I don't know.

Had some of this from a friend so decided to order some takeout. This place is amazing! The Okra was a perfect spicy level. The lamb and beef mixed well with the rice and fufu. If you haven't tried African food before, this is a great start. I'm looking forward to ordering more items from their menu in the future.

Ordered here for the first time and definitely not the last time! I ordered via phone and let them know it was to be picked up at a later time. You can tell the food is fresh from the first bite. To me, the spicy was a good heat. To my husband, not so spicy. To each their own, I guess. We ordered Egusi and the okra stew with yam fufu. The okra stew was my favorite and the egusi was full of flavor. Can't wait to try more of the menu!

There is no one here and no one has been here 20 min prior to this photo

If I could go negative I would. I ordered from this place because everyone in the area said it's the best fufu turns out it's not that good, customer service is terrible to the point where the dude who is supposed to be taking orders isn't out here or if he is he is on his phone not paying attention, I waited a hour and a half for my food when there was no line and when ppl did start coming in he ignored ppl trying to order food. It got to the point where the gas station employees are apologizing and offering me a drink definitely a 0 on my scale will not be coming back anytime ever and I recommend you guys Dave your money and do the same

Egusi soup with lamb & yam fufu, spicy jollof rice with chicken, and sweet fried plantains
    Sabrina R.

We Drove from San Diego!! We ordered the Egusi soup with fufu (yam flour) and lamb, as well as the jollof rice with plantains and spicy chicken, and everything was absolutely delicious. The egusi was rich, well-seasoned, and comforting, and the lamb was tender and flavorful. The fufu was smooth and paired perfectly with the soup. The jollof rice had great depth of flavor with a nice level of spice, and the chicken was juicy and well-cooked. The fried plantains were sweet, crispy, and a perfect side to round out the meal. Portions were generous, food tasted fresh, and you can really tell they put care into their cooking. The owners are so sweet and nice. If you're looking for authentic African cuisine in Santa Ana, this place is a must-try. We'll definitely be back. I can't wait until they open up a storefront in the near future !

I can't tell you how happy I was to FINALLY find an African restaurant in OC. AND it's really good! When I opened the container of egusi, the smell transported me back to my childhood. It was delicious, although I did add some more spinach to my leftovers. We got the egusi with goat. Fufu. When I tell you this was the best poundo yam fufu I have had IN MY LIFE, I don't mean I liked it, I mean I could probably eat it ON ITS OWN, which says a lot, since I used to suffer through the fufu my mom made as a child, and never personally liked it. I do wish the plantains were more ripe (less starchy, more crunch), but that is a personal preference. The plantains were ripe, and not as starchy as Cuban-style plantains, but not as ripe as I prefer them. Jollof. The jollof rice was very good, as well as the okra soup with lamb. Lastly, we got puff puff, and they were also yummy. If you're not familiar, they're like beignets with no powdered sugar - crispy fried dough, soft on the inside. I added powdered sugar I had at home, although that's not typical of the dish. There were SO many puff puff, so we had leftovers, and they were good reheated in the air fryer. I was so surprised that they offer pepper soup in varying spice levels! I'm SO looking forward to trying it, since I've heard it's painfully spicy, and I can take a lot, but I'm not sure if I can handle traditional pepper soup.

I ordered the fufu and chicken egusi and let me tell you it's amazing! Definitely worth the try

Portions are generous and there is plenty of outdoor seating and parking in the area. There are a couple of indoor tables, but I'd recommend going when it's nice out so you can sit at the picnic tables in the middle of the traffic circle out front and watch the planes on final approach to SNA. It does get a bit loud since the airport is so close by. You order at the register and the food can take a little bit to come out depending on what dishes are ready to go. I decided on goat as a traditional option and went with the non-spicy jollof rice. The cashier also offered their habanero sauce with a warning about how hot it is. I came here because I've been wanting to try Nigerian food for the longest time. I ordered through doordash their beef egusi that came with fufu. It was about $28 for one portion. They put the beef on the side and it was dry AF. The flavor was okay but it was difficult to swallow since it was so dry. The egusi unfortunately had a strong fishy smell to it that was off putting. The fufu was probably the best thing there. I also gave some to two other girls to try and they felt the same. Unfortunately I was very disappointed in everything and didn't even finish my meal. That is rare for me. I also didn't like that when I came my order wasn't ready. I think they didn't even see my order. This place is small and casual. The two ladies working there were nice. This restaurant surpasses them all. We came to celebrate my friend's birthday (she eats here all the time, has lived in Africa for years, and knows the owner and his family) and ordered the vegetarian combo, okra, Awaze Tibs (beef), hot bubbling Tegabino shiro, and a fried sambusa (lentil filling) appetizer to share. The flavors and seasonings used in the veggie dishes and beef had a nice balance and went exceptionally well together. The injera bread was fluffy and had a good mouthfeel, with enough bounce and texture to pick up and hold the delicious food and sauces together into the perfect bite-sized morsels. Injera bread was so good that I would eat this plain. As a sourdough flatbread, their injera was not overly sour nor dry. We also finished 2 bottles of Ethiopian honey wine, which was less sweet than I expected and closer in profile to a light Chardonnay, than a sweet wine. Wine was a perfect pairing for the food. As far as beverages go, they have a small selection of beer and wine in the menu, along with Ethiopian coffee/tea which is freshly brewed to order. They also have a nice traditional coffee/tea setting in one corner of the restaurant and I was told they provide a special freshly brewed coffee service on weekends. Definitely a top recommendation from me, for authentic Ethiopian and Eritrean food. My friend informed me that this restaurant is a labor of love/care from the owner, who had a very successful engineering career before he opened this restaurant, which was a dream of his to share the foods he grew up with to the local Ethiopian and Eritrean community. My sister booked a reservation for Mother's Day and I was looking forward to a Moroccan meal at a restaurant I hadn't heard about. My expectations weren't high due to my prior experiences and Casablanca quickly surpassed that bar and every meal exceed my highest of expectations. We ordered bastilla with chicken and almonds, a honey lamb tangine, lemon chicken tangine (one of my favorite meals), couscous with a mix of skewers, lamb sausage couscous, sea bass, Baklava, crème brulee, stuffed dates, and ice cream. It's often the attention to detail in the simplest components that typically make something special. From the texture of the couscous to the lemon chicken sauce and how the green olives absorbed the flavor was perfect. Bastilla is a very tough dish for me to like due to me preferring savory over sweet. Finding the balance of the flavors is difficult and often what is missed. Today was the first time I went back for more bastilla outside of when my aunts cooked it. The lemon chicken was incredibly flavorful and the chicken was cooked perfectly. the Royal Couscous had various skews that were all delicious and tasted how you'd expect it to when the Moroccan aunties are getting down in the kitchen. I'm not a big lamb guy, but the lamb here wasn't gamey and fell off of the bone. The rest of the meals and desserts were equally delicious. The owner is an Algerian Amazigh and the staff was Moroccan and French. It is obvious they have a passion for what they do and truly care about their clients. My father speaks Tamazight, Arabic, and French. So he was able to speak to all the staff in their native language. The love and care they showed was wonderful and I'm sure they show this same warmth to all of their clients. I love out of a suitcase for work and get to try food in countless places. LA can spoil you, but it's often the holes in the wall that surprise you and not the trendy or more formal restaurants. Casablanca was an exception to the rule. It just became one of my favorite restaurants in SoCal. Thank you to the owner, friendly staff, and chef for making it even more special for my mom on Mother's Day. P.s. my mother is a Chamorro that has cooked Moroccan food for the last 40 years and is overly critical and as mentioned before my father is Moroccan. Both her and my father left the evening singing their praises and had some left overs when we got home. Sorry this was so long, thanks for coming to my ted talk. TLDR I'm Moroccan went with my Moroccan dad and we both think it's the best Moroccan restaurant we've had in years.

It's not even open!!! We got there but everything was locked up-with for sale sign!!!…read moreSo upsetting because Google did give us the new number to call, even though restaurant did not take reservations!!! I wrote about this misgiving feeling before but thought we would take a chance!!!
