Taibat Noodle House is known for their affordable hand made noodles. I came here for lunch with seven other people. When we arrived it was busy but no wait. The restaurant itself is small and casual but they had lots of tables and chairs. The lady working there was really nice and set up our tables and gave us waters right away. We decided to just share everything. They brought items out as soon as they were made. We tried several noodle dishes, one cabbage dish, and a few protein dishes. We ordered their popular Traditional Hand-pulled beef noodle soup and the Big Plate Chicken with Noodles dish they were known for. I wasn't a fan of the traditional hand pulled noodle soup but the big plate chicken with noodle dish was pretty good. Everyone's favorite noodle dish was the Stir-Fried Shanxi Knif-Cut Noodles though. It was super flavorful and delicious. For protein, my favorite was their orange chicken. We all found the Kung Pao chicken to be wayyyy to salty. It was edible with the stir fried cabbage though. The lady working there was really nice and made sure to bring us everything we needed. She also refilled our waters. The pricing of food is super affordable and portions were pretty large. We had some food left over and was able to to bring some home. The inside like I mentioned is very casual. They even had a to go section where you can pick up pre-made foods. There's payment through the kiosk or you can pay with the cashier. The food was mediocre at best, but the service was by far the most disappointing part of the experience. The staff seemed unwilling to accommodate even the simplest requests. When I asked for additional napkins, I was told to "use what you have first, then ask for more." The restroom had no soap, and when I informed an employee, she told me they had run out. She then squeezed the last remnants from an old soap bottle while I was standing there, rather than replacing it. Aside from being unprofessional, this raises serious health and sanitation concerns. At the end of the meal, I requested a plastic bag for my leftovers. I was given a tiny bag that could only fit one container. When I politely asked for a larger bag, I was met with more resistance instead of a simple solution. Overall, the combination of mediocre food, poor customer service, and lack of basic hospitality made for a very disappointing experience. I won't be returning. read more

Wow what a difference from my review from a year ago! My major complaint before was that I ordered their braised beef noodle soup with the expectation it came spicy. When I ordered then through Uber Eats, there was no option to select the spice level and they didn't allow to leave a comment. When the soup came home, no spice or sauce was provided on the side either. The dish was disappointing and bland. I decided to give Taibat another go, and Uber Eats now allows you to pick between different spice levels and also leave a comment! The braised beef noodle soup was delicious and one of the better ones I've had around OC. Especially now that I was able to have it spicy the way I wanted. The scallion pancakes were amazing! I couldn't find any review on this dish, so my expectations weren't high. But they were crispy and had an amazing somewhat buttery taste to them. The combo fried rice was very good as well and the portion was enormous! Plenty of leftovers with this dish. Every dish was extremely reasonable priced as well. It's so exciting to see a halal chinese food restaurant near South Coast Plaza! The food is delicious, full of flavor and nothing too greasy. I also recommend getting the strawberry juice, it tasted fresh! Hole in the wall, but halal chinese food! Seems to be of xinjiang uyghur cuisine so specializes in mostly beef noodles + lamb dishes. The workers primary language is chinese, but they have a self ordering kiosk. A bowl of noodle came out to around $20, with customization options for the type of noodle and level of spice. The workers were super friendly and nice even though they were a bit uncomfortable with English. They offered water to anyone who walked in and takeout appears super fast/convenient with take out. Scan qr code on the table to order. We got the braised beef with wide flat noodles medium spicy. The medium spicy is the perfect amount of flavor, not the burning kind of spicy and you can add more chili oil. They chose small tender bokchoy that matched the soup and gave scissors to cut the hand pulled (like biang biang) noodles. The broth was flavorful without being too salty or heavy. Sometimes beef noodles have a little bit kf a gamey or stinky flavor but this didn't. I enjoyed the slices of aromatics including green onion and ginger. Will be visiting the Silk Road soon, so want to try this Uyghur cuisine. I recommend the Stirred-Fried Knife-cut Noodle and the Dry Pot Cauliflower. We also tried the Big Plate Chicken,which comes with noodle, very large portion. The Cumin Lamb is not like the dry cumin skewers we were expecting. It's lamb ribs that are more saucy. Did another surprise me yelp food picker thing and it landed on here. The inside seemed a bit crammed when it can to the seating. But plenty of seating!!! They had they deal for a drink, noodles, and a side for 20 dollars which honestly was a good price. I did the traditional beef noodle soup. It was very fresh and good beef flavor. I've never had beef w/ broccoli before so I don't know how it compares to other places, but it was pretty good and the meat was incredibly tender. Absolutely blown away by our experience at Taibat! We ordered the lamb, fried rice, beef noodle soup, tea egg, wood ear mushrooms, and the northwest cold noodles--and WOW. Those hand-pulled noodles, made fresh in the back, are the true star of the show. So thick, chewy, and flavorful. We were warmly welcomed and both the person who took our order and the one who brought them over and took care of us the rest of the night were super kind and warm! They're still in their opening phase so it was a bit slow but we weren't in any rush. The food itself didn't take long to get to us at all so we definitely weren't complaining. Truly, everyone was so wonderful, I can't stress this enough. We ordered two of the traditional beef noodle soups (one spicy, one not) and the big plate chicken. The spicy traditional beef noodle soup had the perfect amount of spice where it was mild but not too much. There's also chili oil on the table for you to add heat to your dishes per your own preferences (and the chili oil was good!). There's also vinegar and soy sauce on each table as well. The traditional beef noodle soup was sooo yummy. The broth was flavorful and the noodles were the perfect consistency where they weren't too squishy but they had the perfect amount of bite to them. My (the spicy) beef noodle soup had less beef than the other one, but I think this wasn't the norm as the other one had a really good amount of beef in it! The beef pieces were also cooked perfectly, not chewy but tender and flavorful. The big plate chicken comes with potatoes and these flat, wide noodles that were also delicious. The spices on this one were not to my taste but the rest of the family LOVED this. It has a hint of spice, but even our least-tolerant-to-spice person enjoyed it and said it was perfect. I really loved the flat noodles, they had a slight eggy flavor to it and I loved the consistency, again having the perfect amount of bite to it. I got the black pepper beef, some chicken with onion and peppers and lemongrass(?) and some noodles with chicken carrots and cabbage. The portion sizes are large, they were even kind enough to send sriracha, utensils and plain white rice came with one of the dishes. The beef noodle soup was absolutely delicious, soooo flavorful and good portions of noodles and meat. My Chinese husband was very impressed. The popcorn chicken was solid too. Interior looks small but there's a decent number of tables and seats. Place is very clean. I ordered takeout so I didn't stay long, but what really stood out to me was the woman and man behind the counter. They greeted me so warmly and they felt so gentle and caring.
