The guy selling them is a nice guy, but $4 for a hotdog is a ripoff. I know he can't give them away but Jesus!

He represents everything you love about a true, independent neighborhood spot -- passion, pride, and a genuine connection to his customers. This place is a labor of love. Started back in 2008 by Harvey and his wife Judy Zimmer, Hotdogopolis isn't just serving hot dogs... it's delivering a proper Chicago-style experience right here in Boca. The foundation is top-notch -- Vienna Beef hot dogs, authentic rolls, and all the right ingredients. From there, it's anything you want... every possible topping, done the right way. The Chicago dog is the star, of course -- dragged through the garden and perfectly executed. Snap, flavor, balance... just excellent. The Chicago Dog was perfect, A dog with Cole Slaw and Onions, also great. French Fries are a must order. When I ordered a Malt, Harvey made it himself! Wow!! What also sets this place apart is the variety. Not in the mood for a classic? They've got game meat hot dogs as well -- something a little different, and a fun change of pace if you're looking to mix it up. Reminded me of the legendary long-gone Chicago spot, Hot Doug's. But beyond the food, it's the feel of the place. Casual, unpretentious, and real. The kind of spot that reminds you why these independently owned gems matter so much. Harvey isn't just running a business -- he's putting himself into it every day, and it shows. Great product, great guy, great experience. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Last night (a Tuesday in August) we had the 2 for 1 schnitzel special. Good value. Service friendly and helpful. We arrived about 6:15 PM. No trouble parking which is unusual in the Mizner area. Tuesdays are "trivia nights" (starting at 7 PM) so we opted to avoid the noise and eat outside. While the temperature had to be in the high 80's there were multiple fans so we made the right decision. I suspect after 8 PM the place gets a young and boisterous crowd. You either buy into the atmosphere or you don't.

I was able to find a parking spot, but if you're going during peak hours, valet may be the easier option. The overall atmosphere was lively and fun. There was a live band playing, and although it was busy, the staff was friendly and welcoming. We chose to sit outside, which ended up being the perfect spot. We could still enjoy the music without it being too loud, making it easy to have a conversation. For an appetizer, we ordered the buffalo shrimp, which had just a mild kick and was very flavorful. I also had a burger with fries, and the burger was cooked perfectly. By around 9:30 PM, the outdoor area became much busier, with a younger crowd arriving, but the atmosphere remained enjoyable. Our server was attentive throughout the evening, and we never felt rushed. Overall, it was a great place to relax with friends, enjoy good food, and listen to live music. I'd definitely go back!

This place stands alone in the front corner of the small shopping center. There is other food competition there as well. Upon entering, we were greeted by smiling faces and we were served by Alexa. She explained our options as we asked a few questions. There is also an ordering kiosk for manual ordering. A group of 3 women came in after us and were served before us. There wasn't a long wait for the food anyway. I had a mushroom Swiss burger combo with tomato, onion & pickle, and my wife had the "Hamburdog" combo. It's a burger with hotdogs on it. Both burgers came served on a potato bun. Everything was fresh. The burger part was a little small compared to the bun size, but the meat had great flavor. The combo came with "hand cut style" fries (they still had some skin on them intentionally) and a drink. The soda was self-serve. My wife loved the "Hamburdog." The metal seats were a little hard on the bottom, but the place seemed clean. There is a large screen TV hanging in the eating area. There was an outdoor seating area also. The men's room seemed in pretty good shape. We ordered cookies (3) to go and I had to go up and ask for them because it seemed like they forgot about us (they did). It costed around $32 for the 2 combo's plus the $2.79 for the 3 cookies. Not bad for a good tasting burger combo meal. What made it good was that everything was delicious and fresh. My wife already wants to go to the Wellington store (closer to us) to get another "Hamburdog." We saw someone else ordering chicken tenders and they seemed to be a good size too. I'd recommend this place and we will definitely return.

I really want MOOYAH Burger in Boca Raton to succeed. Unfortunately, I'm beginning to suspect that…read moreI may want that more than whoever is actually managing the place--which, based on my observations, may be nobody. The staff is friendly enough and the atmosphere is perfectly acceptable. The problem is that service moves at approximately the speed of continental drift, and getting the order you actually placed seems to be treated more as an aspiration than a requirement. And it's not just me. Watching customers open their bags has started to feel like a game show: "Let's see what you won!" Then there are the cost-cutting clues. The nice fountain-drink cups they originally used have apparently been replaced by Styrofoam cups that look like they came with a church picnic starter kit. The shakes, meanwhile, have undergone an extraordinary transformation. What used to be a respectable milkshake is now roughly the size of a laboratory sample. At this rate, another round of cost cutting and they'll be serving them in communion cups. But the biggest mystery is management. Someone invested serious money building and opening this restaurant, yet it appears to be operated almost entirely by very young employees without an experienced manager visibly running the floor. That's not a criticism of the kids. They're doing what teenagers do. The question is: where is the adult whose investment is riding on whether the burgers come out correctly? Restaurants--especially burger restaurants--are opening and closing at an incredible pace these days. You would think that after spending all that money on construction, equipment, franchise fees, signage, and inventory, somebody might consider spending a few dollars on an experienced on-site manager. MOOYAH actually has a good product, which is what makes this frustrating. This location doesn't need a new concept, a new menu, or a corporate task force. It needs one competent adult with a clipboard and a sense of urgency. Otherwise, I give it six months. Hopefully I'm wrong. I'd like to come back next year. Although if the shakes keep shrinking at their current rate, I may need to bring a magnifying glass. One star for the staff, one star for the burgers

That said I'm on the outgoing side of the interaction spectrum so take that as you may. First time visit, the bartenders were fabulous, friendly and attentive. Who would expect more? Yeah no one should. The crowd, on a Saturday night was clearly local but not at all unwilling to engage in conversation once I conjured up the nerve (I.e. my 2nd beer). A mixed crowd, from early 20s to all the way up. Not a sketchy place, anyone should feel comfortable. Admittedly, my low water mark for a dive bar is my requirement that they have proper paper towels in the washroom. Past reviews of mine bring this up. To me there are very few things worse than walking out of the washroom finishing drying my hands on my pants! ;-) In this case, I make an exception (truly my first) because everything else was great. Didn't try the food. I will go back. Fun place. Go there. Have a drink with friends. Write a review whether you agree with me or not!

That said, when a place earns it, I'm more than happy to say so. For me, The Duck Tavern really starts with the bartenders. Leli and Ali have a way of turning a simple beer into a whole experience. You sit down planning to have one drink, and before you know it you're enjoying the atmosphere, the conversation, and the vibe of the place. The bar itself is fun, welcoming, and stocked with all kinds of beers and drinks you don't always find at a typical neighborhood spot. Personally, I love that they always have ice-cold Moosehead ready to go--credit to the owner for that. I originally started coming to this little gem because of the Moosehead... but I'll always keep coming back because of Leli and Ali.
