This place is awesome!! I heard about it from a co-worker who raved about the life size chocolate sculptures and the amazing truffles. I was so impressed. I have seen Alain Roby on The Food Network and had no idea he lives in Geneva. It was such a treat watching him creating a kitchen out of chocolate as I sipped my hot cocoa and ate the best macaroon I have ever tasted. Delicious chocolate shop with chocolate statues! Perfect place to bring a date. We had chocolate cake as frozen hot chocolate which honestly I could only handle a few sips of but it was worth it. This is hands down one of my favorite places in Geneva. After my fiancé and I went to Italy, it has been hard to find gelato in the states that compares. This place is definitely close! I've never had creamier gelato in my life. I absolutely loved the chocolate tree and the ambiance in general. The staff was extremely friendly and you are allowed two tastes of gelato before having to make up your mind; I decided on the coffee flavor. It's a little on the pricey side for dessert but I think the quality is well worth the extra couple bucks. If I could come here every day I would, but the drive to Geneva is a little too far from Bolingbrook on a daily basis for gelato. It is tempting though. read more

This was my MUST-VISIT place over Thanksgiving with my family. We drove all the way out to Geneva last year and again this year. I think my parents drive out a few other times during the year, but being that I'm from LA... this was my one shot to squirrel up more of Chef Roby's chocolates! Clearly I haven't been in a while, but they expanded their shop and added some more impressive chocolate artwork... like a giant Blackhawk! (Looks like he's the only suited up player this season... tear!) I also don't think we bought enough... well, I know we didn't buy enough - we ate it all already. This place gets 5 stars not just for quality, but for consistency. Everything I've tried is amazing and beautifully put together, without fail. I'm especially impressed that the crew of teenagers and college kids that make up the staff (especially in the summer) manages to be trained well enough to prepare dishes to presentation perfection. I have had many good experiences at this establishment until this evening. I ordered what I have always ordered...an iced caramel coffee. She gave me and iced caramel mocha coffee. I spoke with the manager on duty and explained what had happened. He took her word and told me there were no exchanges or refunds. Then he grabbed the coffee and walked away. Our Girls Night out group met there, but no one checked to see when the Restaurant was open so we asked how late they were open and they told us 9 pm and thought that we would come back for dessert after getting dinner somewhere else in Geneva. We got back there at 8:05 pm and the doors were all locked as they were vacuuming up and heading out. Wow, I was thoroughly impressed with this place as soon as I walked through the door. There is a giant tree in the middle of the room that's completely made out of chocolate. Their chocolate cake was amazing! It was the best I've ever had! It was apparently featured on TV on the Martha Stewart Show. I also got a few chocolates to go which were all amazing! What a fabulous place! It's got the feel of a lovely European cafe and offers a variety of high quality chocolate, bakery items, gelato, sorbet, and more. The staff is wonderful. I've had many items at ACK and enjoyed them all, but the truffles are amazing. There's a truffle for every palate (caramel sea salt, chipotle, espresso, birthday cake... etc.). The treats here also make excellent gifts. The coffee and hot chocolate are also terrific and high quality. They make homemade crepes on the weekend... including Nutella - definitely try them! I'd heard all the rave reviews about this place, so off we went. One member in our party had a major food allergy, so first things first we asked about food ingredients. The owner was rude and said he did not have time to answer our questions. He must have read my facial expression as he then added that he couldn't guarantee any of his food would be safe. That's fair enough, but the manner in which he spoke to us was very rude and condescending. We did sit for a while and tried a few things which we all (with the exception of the allergic one) agreed were sublime (5 stars), but the rudeness was really uncalled for, and hence the 2 stars. read more

A hidden gem at ACK is Chef Roby at the omelet station. It is a very small window that he serves them in, 11-2 on Sundays only, and there are limited ingredient choices. Be that as it may, the avocado & crab meat omelet is worth driving (or walking) a long way for. I had to share mine, but a fresh croissant and a cup of mocha was more than enough keep me going all afternoon. read more

Yum! What a delight after we left a nearby restaurant that was very busy, very small and very crowded. We felt at ease here to have dessert, coffee and continue our night of conversation in a warm, inviting place with lots of quaint places to sit. A lot of options for decadence. We chose the tiramisu and 2 cups of coffee. Decaf coffee as it was late and it was still delicious!! Tiramisu a little dry but they serve something like caramel hazelnut sauce to pour over it that made up for it and it was devine!! Only awkward moments were we asked for skim milk espresso drinks and they were out. When asked if the other option was 2% she said I think so after looking at it. I saw the red cap and said oh not that's whole milk. EEK...what a difference. So we settled on decaf coffee with half and half. Others had their coffee delivered with their dessert but we had to go back to the counter to get ours and locate the half and half. No biggie but odd! If you haven't been...go! Glad I live far enough away to only enjoy this level of decadence on occasion. read more

I loved this place! Is that really a life-size chocolate tree in the middle of the floor? You can't beat that. We stopped here after a little shopping in Geneva just to get something to drink, at least that's what we told ourselves. We'd had a nice lunch at Foxfire nearby, so I'm sad to say I wasn't hungry enough for the lovely gelato, which seemed to be a big hit will all the other customers. I got a lemonade, which I didn't care for (too sweet for my taste). My friend got a root-beer float made with their gelato which she enjoyed. I took some incredibly beautiful truffles home and a giant chocolate chip cookie. I was only disappointed in the mint chip truffle, which didn't have the taste of mint at all, that I could tell. But all the truflles were like a work of art. The atmosphere of the place is interesting and fun, with cool music playing in the background, and tables, chairs and sofas around so you can enjoy whatever treat you've chosen. My girlfriend brought home 3 pieces of truffles and chocolate fudge gelato. We are both foodies and have impeccable, first rate taste..PERIOD. The truffles were indeed delish and the gelato is fantastic. The truffles do in fact look cheesy and like they were made in a factory. NOT TOO SWEET and no gritty texture so disregard the other bafoons that said this. I am giving this place 3 stars to be fair. They are DRAMATICALLY overpriced and anyone that actually says "chocolate truffles so good they are worth the 2 bucks" is a goof with no sense of balance between taste and value. To be perfectly honest, Grahams Chocolates at 302 S. 3rd St. is way better. Bigger, creamier, tastier, more decadent chocolate truffles and ice cream that makes your cheeks pinch. Not cheap but ain't no All Chocolate Kitchen rip off either. 5 bucks for a quart and a bit over a dollar/truffle. Chef Roby is charging and capitalizing off his fame and awards (notoriety in this case) and a TLC channel recommendation which is total B.S. All this attention should garner a massive crowd and a more reasonable price. In a nutshell....try this place but you will get more bang for you "museum quality" chocolate buck at Grahams. Just better all in all. One can only go "so far" with the quality of chocolate and Grahams has hit that mark. read more

This is such a great spot to get some dessert and coffee. The décor and ambience inside is unique. We have come as a couple, with our kids and just to hang out with friends. The key lime pie is amazing with the chocolate crust and tart filling. Such a nice combination. Their service is just okay. It can be chaotic to get the attention of staff to help, and they are difficult to engage. It is nice to have somewhere to just grab dessert and hang out. read more
