I got quotes from a number of local companies, and while all were close in their pricing, Mogovolt's came in a bit lower, with a number of very strong referrals from neighbors, as well as Homeowner's Club. This project ended up being a more complicated project than we anticipated, because old houses have secrets- ours happened to have a lot more active knob and tube than we had originally anticipated when we bought the house. The Mogovolt team from start to finish was incredibly detailed in their estimates, explanations and ideas for updating our wiring with not just solutions that we liked, but were well-thought through, up to code aligned with new building standards. Communication was outstanding- even when I didn't understand something they took the time to explain different decisions and possible solutions. The team was incredibly polite, tidy and thoughtful in our home. Adi and Ben were always very communicative and gave us great morning and end of day updates- additionally they were happy to talk through solutions and explain, and reexplain more than once a number of tricky decisions we had to think through and understand. I had a very good experience with with them as the electrician was very knowledgeable of this process, the options that were available and once he got into the ceiling the challenges that needed to be addressed. Mike showed me the original shoddy installation of the duct work and gave me options on how to make this new installation work and also proceed in the future to have roofer come out and correct the issues. He took pictures of the areas and gave me instructions on what to tell the roofer. He didn't have to do this but I really appreciated his professionalism and honesty. I came away with the feeling that he is someone I could trust. All in all I am very happy with the results and I am going to use Kemly again in the near future of other projects that are coming down the pike.

Robert checked our panel and tightened two screws on one loose circuit breaker. He was on site for about 20 minutes and he charged me $350 plus tax for a total of $385.35. Ouch! He said this was the fee for a "site visit." He also offered to waive the tax if I paid cash, which sounded a bit dodgy. I could imagine a site visit costing $75, or $100, or maybe even $150. But nearly $400 for turning two screws? I felt like a sucker and chump. Don't end up like me. Avoid this contractor... unless you have money to burn.

We bought this house from a brilliant mechanical engineer who seemed to pride himself on being able to figure out how to do anything. We've had to repair and replace a few things here and there that were outside his skill set. We can now add a light fixture to that list. We had a dimmer switch that didn't always work--it was just getting old. The cover plate for it needed to be custom-cut to fit with the wainscoting under it, because the previous owner set the wainscoting high enough to overlap. At some point we needed to replace that cover plate and hadn't gotten around to it. And the light fixture over our kitchen island stopped working, but just for one of three bulbs. I got multiple bids for all this work, and Good Sense was by far the easiest to work with. Their office manager is friendly and easy to talk to, and made it a no-stress process to discuss their rates and all the info they needed. Every other company either took forever to get back to me, were less pleasant to deal with, or both. Good Sense doesn't have as many open appointments as other companies, which is a good sign. They did have a cancellation so I was able to get the work done early, which is awesome. The guys showed up right on time, were pleasant and easy to talk to, got right to work, and didn't need any extra guidance once they started. Exactly what you hope for. They found some amateur mistakes in the wiring, and fixed those. They had parts in the truck with them for what needed replacing, and took care of everything in about an hour. The bill showed up via email and text this morning, and I was able to pay online, which I very much appreciate. Their estimate lined up with what they charged. Much as I would prefer never to have to pay for repairs of any kind, because having a perfect house that never breaks would be a joy, that's not how the world works. Finding nice folks who care, communicate well, do the work correctly, and charge a fair price is the next-best thing to owning an unbreakable house. These folks fit the bill. I'm happy I found them.

Their quote was very reasonable for the work and they were willing to work with me to split up the project into multiple phases so it worked with my budget. I also appreciated that they took the time to really walk me through what to expect with such a big project and I never felt they were trying to upsell me. They had to cut open a few walls for the project, but much less than I was expecting. They did a great job and I've worked with them since for a few smaller things as well. It's great having an electrician I really trust to do a good job for a reasonable price.

They made all kinds of tiny adjustments that were not part of the estimate without billing: replacing crappy light fixtures, fixing weird light switch behavior, and more. I'm still finding little things they did.
