I've found a couple solid electricians over the years, and these folks are closest to my current house. After one job they seem to be the best choice for electrical work in the future. We bought this house from a brilliant mechanical engineer who seemed to pride himself on being able to figure out how to do anything. We've had to repair and replace a few things here and there that were outside his skill set. We can now add a light fixture to that list. We had a dimmer switch that didn't always work--it was just getting old. The cover plate for it needed to be custom-cut to fit with the wainscoting under it, because the previous owner set the wainscoting high enough to overlap. At some point we needed to replace that cover plate and hadn't gotten around to it. And the light fixture over our kitchen island stopped working, but just for one of three bulbs. I got multiple bids for all this work, and Good Sense was by far the easiest to work with. Their office manager is friendly and easy to talk to, and made it a no-stress process to discuss their rates and all the info they needed. Every other company either took forever to get back to me, were less pleasant to deal with, or both. Good Sense doesn't have as many open appointments as other companies, which is a good sign. They did have a cancellation so I was able to get the work done early, which is awesome. The guys showed up right on time, were pleasant and easy to talk to, got right to work, and didn't need any extra guidance once they started. Exactly what you hope for. They found some amateur mistakes in the wiring, and fixed those. They had parts in the truck with them for what needed replacing, and took care of everything in about an hour. The bill showed up via email and text this morning, and I was able to pay online, which I very much appreciate. Their estimate lined up with what they charged. Much as I would prefer never to have to pay for repairs of any kind, because having a perfect house that never breaks would be a joy, that's not how the world works. Finding nice folks who care, communicate well, do the work correctly, and charge a fair price is the next-best thing to owning an unbreakable house. These folks fit the bill. John and Nathan worked on my electrical panel replacement- they did the work quickly, cleanly and with great attention to detail. My garage where my panel is was left clean and everything put back into place. They explained the new panel setup to me in terms I could understand and were very helpful. We had ceiling fans installed in our bedrooms and Good Sense Electric did an amazing job. First off, communication was awesome. We called them to get an estimate and they were able to schedule it right away. Plus it was a free estimate. We liked the fact that they don't upsell. You just tell them what you want done and they tell you how much it's going to cost. That's it. We had a few other companies come to give us estimates and the upsell was ridiculous. Good Sense got us scheduled immediately after accepting their quote and were in communication when they were heading our way. They were efficient and the rooms were cleaned afterwards. I would highly recommend them. They'll be the first ones we call if we need other electrical projects done. My husband I recently purchased our retirement condo in Mukilteo. We needed some lighting updates, changes and new installs done. We hired Good Sense electric to do the work. Dave and his crew did an excellent job. We had outdated track lights in our kitchen removed and had 4 recessed lights put in along with two mini pendants installed above our breakfast bar. We also had Dave install lighted ceiling fans with remote controlled dimmers in 3 rooms that did not have fans previously installed. He added 3 recessed ceiling lights on a dimmer in our living room. He also took down many old fixtures and installed new light fixtures and dimmer switches throughout our condo. Our condo is a ground floor unit with a neighbor upstairs, so it made installing the ceiling fans a little tricky since we had no attic space. Dave had no trouble at all completing this task. Dave and his team even repaired the holes in the drywall that were necessary to run wires through the attic area! That was a great bonus since I didn't have to hire a drywall company to do the work. The communication between Dave and his office manager, Carrie, was very good. Carrie was very prompt in relaying my messages to Dave, and Dave was very prompt with his response. We couldn't be more pleased with the outcome! The only thing that I might mention as an area for improvement would be better/more use of drop cloths to protect customers floors from sheetrock dust and drips from the mud used to repair the holes in the drywall. Boy, I wish we knew about Good Sense before we decided to sell one of our Everett rentals. The realtor contacted them about installing a couple of GFIs in our 100+-year old house to meet code, as the inspector required. I guess he came to the house several times to figure out the wiring before I stepped in to schedule an appointment so we could close on time. Dave, owner, is cheerful and competent and reasonable. We were referred to Dave by friends who had recessed lighting installed as part of a remodel. He had previously done some other electric work for them. We scheduled an appointment with him and he showed up right on time. The first positive for me. We discussed our lighting needs and scheduled the work to be done. These guys are fantastic! We are out of their regular service area, but they came to the house on a Saturday and spent all day updating wiring, fixing nonworking outlets and upside down switches (thanks to Isl*** Electric), installing fixtures, adding outlets and otherwise updating our house's entire electric system. They worked fast and even figured out some mysterious wiring done in our old beach house in order to fix an inexplicably nonworking outlet.
