Since then, Sparrow Plumbing has been my first call for any plumbing need. They've handled everything from installing plumbing for a new washer and dryer to repairing my home's main water line. Recently, I discovered my home had excessively high water pressure. Sparrow Plumbing came out quickly, installed a new pressure-reducing valve (PRV), adjusted the pressure to a safe 70 PSI, and even replaced my main water shutoff ball valve at no additional charge. It's that kind of service that keeps me coming back. Every experience has been the same: honest advice, fair pricing, prompt service, and exceptional workmanship. Our normal plumber wasn't available and we couldn't find anyone that could come to take care of that before we left town until we contacted Sparrow. Came out that day and given the age of the heater we knew a new was gonna happen. And yeah, I'm the type thats suspicious of a craftsman that has immediate availability. Its usually for a reason. He came in and hauled the old one out and installed the new one and we haven't had any issues with it in the four months since the install. One trip to Menards, three hours and a sore back later finally I gave in and decided to contact a plumber. I called several plumbers including one plumber that was highly referred by friend. I was told by that company they would charge me double-time due to the weekend and suggested I call back Monday. I called back 8:30 am on Monday and they told me they were fully booked for the next two days and they would call me back if they could fit me in. The last place I called was Affordable Sewer and Water for the St. Paul area (I live in Maplewood) the operator was professional and gave me and quote which was aproimately $70 cheaper than all the quotes I received that morning plus they were able to schedule me right away so I set an appointment for that afternoon. My Drain is now free of clogs after the plumber used his 60-foot power snake to clear it out. After all of this I still haven't heard back from the two companies who said they would call back. The plumber was conscious and respectful of my house and put on boot coverings and didn't leave any mess whatsoever. I'm completely satisfied with the service Affordable Sewer and Water has provided, they communicated their fees clearly and efficiently performed the job. Our aging house had a floor drain backup in the basement, and I ended up calling them on a Friday…read moreafternoon. They were one of the few places willing to give an estimate over the phone (common problem, takes an hour, here's what it costs). Other places wanted to send a person out for an estimate, and one was even going to charge me for it. Np thank you. So, we talked through things, and they said they wanted to save me some money and not ping me with the weekend surcharge. Well, we still had one bathroom that wasn't backing up the drain every time we flushed, so we were willing to tough things out until Monday to save a few bucks. Kudos to American Sewer for not rabidly jumping on the chance to gouge us for some weekend work. Monday rolled around and the guy showed up promptly after lunch as promised. He was very courteous and respectful of our home, and he got straight to work. Diagnosis? A clog right at the main cleanout. Easy peasy. And as long as he was there and had the equipment, he asked if I wanted him to put the camera down the sewer line to check for roots or other problems. It may or may not have been entire necessary as we've never had problems, but with an older home it's something a homeowner should know. Every single step of the way, he was very clear about what he was doing, why he was doing it, and he very clearly explained any service that would cost extra. At no point was I ever in the dark as to what the bill would be. Sure enough, that old cast iron pipe had roots growing in. So we went ahead with the rooter to break them up, and in the process the sewer pipe partially collapsed. Like, the roots had broken through, and the only thing still holding the pipe together was the roots that had to be removed because they were obstructing the pipe. It was unfortunate but bound to happen considering the shape that the pipe was in, and I suppose it's better that it collapsed while we had the scope there to see the damage from the inside. In the end, I was satisfied with the service. Had it not been for the pipe collapsing, it would have been a routine in and out job for a fair price. I was given not one but three references from them for replacing that pipe, and they advised that I still check around for a better deal anyway. The owner even gave a follow-up call to make sure I was satisfied with the service. American Sewer was the right choice to make. Fair price, clear estimate over the phone, and the job was done in a timely manner. I hope to never need them again (don't ask me about cleaning up my basement floor), but I won't hesitate to calm if I need their services.

After speaking with Chris who was very knowledgable, Drain King sent Jimmy out the next day to look at the situation. He walked around my house to assess the situation and went above and beyond even though it turned out to be an issue with a sewage pump. We weren't sure if it was the responsibility of the city or not but he waited to make sure the city didn't try to push off the blame. It turned out to be my responsibility but thanks to Drain King and Jimmy I now have an understanding of the problem that One Hour Rooter couldn't figure out. In fact they were completely wrong in their assessment of the situation. Do yourself a favor. and skip the rooter companies advertising on price only to tryto upsell you on outrageously expensive and unnecessary solutions. Call a reputable company like Drain King where they won't try to take advantage of you and know what they are doing.
