We only stay places about 4 weeks and if we don't call ahead of our next stop, most places are full and not taking any more dogs. We most often have to resort to PetSmart or Petco and we pay the same amount of money or more and the cut is never as good as the local groomers. We want to shop and spend our money with local businesses but its hard when you're not regular customer. Thankfully, we were able to jump into a spot with about 2 weeks out notice and that worked for us. What worked for us: ------------------------------------- They had a spot for us! They offered a full grooming service with nails, teeth, ears, etc.. They agreed to not 'treat' Charlie while grooming him. (he has a very sensitive stomach) They asked questions about what we wanted and confirmed the cut we were looking for (we showed the last PetSmart groomer 6 photos and told him exactly what we wanted and they still shaved off our Charlie's eyebrows???) They could do a Schnauzer cut (mostly the Schnauzer head is what we're looking for) They about 90 minute (most of the PetCo/Smart places require 3-4 hours???) They were easy to locate They had parking for our big truck (we have an F450 Dually) What did not work: ----------------------------------- Can't think of anything. My dog sustained a cut on the leg during grooming, which was treated with "vet glue" and a bandage. Initially, it was described as a minor injury that would heal quickly. However, after a week, it became apparent that stitches were necessary. This has resulted in substantial vet expenses. I would not recommend this groomer. Full disclosure: My dog was matted before being groomed which I was clear about before the groom BUT she has been matted before and we've taken her to several groomers and not once has she been cut, so I'm not accepting that reasoning to be valid.

Recently my daughters dog cocker spaniel Ring needed physical therapy after her body shut down for an unknown reason, after her awesome veterinarian care at Color country animal hospital we knew we needed to help Ring gain her her muscle tone back and learn how to use her body properly again. With Anita's massage therapy, red light therapy, physical, and hydro therapy Ring is doing amazing we have had 6 visit's and when we go to the sessions Ring gets stronger every time, and my daughter has homework to do at home as well. Giving her a bath and trimming nails was nearly impossible for us, but the staff takes care of all her grooming needs with ease. The Woof puppy socialization class was just what our little girl needed. Same goes for training; they provide as much or as little training as you desire. I took my puppy Nala to Makayla for her very first puppy grooming yesterday. We decided that she…read morewould be left somewhat fluffy, with her fur about 3/4" long. when I returned to pick her up I was shocked to find she was almost shaved but since that was only cosmetic I didn't say anything about it. I thanked Makayla and tipped her well. On the way home it was obvious something was really wrong with Nala. She wouldn't stop crying or shaking her head. She was rubbing her ears. She was also scratching, licking and rubbing her bottom and her paws. When I got home I couldn't seem to soothe her so I looked in her ears and saw the bloody mess you see in these pictures. At just 12 weeks old, Nala was way too young to have the hair removed from her ears. But regardless, no dog should ever be injured during their grooming and their hair should never be pulled so violently from their ears as to tear the skin and make it bleed. To make matters worse Makayla's set up is far less than sanitary. Poor Nala has a fever tonight and her ears are obviously infected. I've made an appointment with the vet for tomorrow, which was the soonest they could get her in, and in the meantime I spoke with a couple of vets and a vet tech that I know who recommended some pain medication and topical ointment to help ease Nala's discomfort. That was another $50. Then I will have the vet bill tomorrow and I'm sure the course of antibiotics to pay for. Still, the cost isn't nearly as important to me as the fact that my dog was injured being groomed and I didn't get so much as an apology out of Makayla. She told me if I brought Nala over there today she would pour alcohol in her ears! That sounds so incredibly painful I couldn't believe she suggested it and when I told the vet it had been suggested he was incredulous. He said not only would that create extreme pain but it would make the situation much worse. I'm still not sure what's going on with her paws or her bottom, but I will have the vet check her out thoroughly tomorrow. The bottom line is that a competent groomer would NEVER have done something like this! A decent human being would've at least apologized and offered a refund. I felt an obligation to write this post with the hope that I might help prevent someone else's beloved pet from being injured at Makayla's hands.

The groomer did a great job on her, being her hair was very matted from her 'spade jacket' I highly recommend her with her cute little traveling business.
