Five stars for a smog DMV service station... what the helli? My car didn't pass smog initially. Turns out I had tear in my air-intake hose. They showed me the broken part and even did a quick demo, pointing out how to remove the part for fast replacement. They also mentioned this was pretty common in older model Hondas. Since I had already paid; they said get the part replaced, come back, and I could basically skip the line to get the test done. I replaced the part myself, which I'm pretty proud of, came back the next day and then my battery died... what the f@%k?! - NOTE: If your battery dies, the car computer has to reset. Which means you need to drive around for at least 50-miles. I did this, came back, they slide me in, and finally passed smog! The staff here was super patient, helpful, and very understanding to my situation. Beyond registration they also replace key fobs for cars and can cut new car keys as well. read more

I recently came in for a smog check, and three weeks later I am still upset about my experience. When I first pulled in, I mentioned to the gentleman that checked me in I had the coupon from their website - $50 smog check. He asked me to wait and somebody else would ring me up and that he would ensure the coupon is reflected. A different employee came up to me with a work order, and the price was twice the coupon amount. When I asked if this was the coupon price, the employee did not ask for the clipboard back, they instead snatched it out of my hands, started scribbling out the price and wrote down something that was illegible. I went ahead and signed it and continued to wait for my smog check. About 15 minutes go by, and the employee who originally greeted me was getting into an altercation with a customer. I will not go into the details, but the employee was clearly overreacting and was threatening to fight the customer and his 16 year-old son in the middle of the street. He then proceeded to go up to other customers who were watching the ordeal to garner justification for threatening the customers who had left by this point. Another 30 minutes go by, and I am finally told that my car did not pass smog due to my intake hose. They quoted me $250 to replace it, however, I knew the job would take me 15 minutes and cost me $45 if I did it myself. So I decided to leave, to which they mentioned if I come back for a retest, the price would be half ($25). Ironically, I paid $70 for the service. Not only was this not the price of the coupon, but the retail rate listed on their window was $45. When I started replacing my intake hose, I noticed three tears in the original. However, I could tell that these were incisions, not due to wear and tear. When I returned for my retest, I was charged $60. I decided to just swallow my pride and get it done with. The icing on the cake is that I have several friends who work in the auto industry across town. Many of them have told me of similar experiences from this shop. Primarily, creating work instead of doing honest service. Buyer beware. Be diligent, otherwise avoid this place by any means necessary. I took the coupon and location as convenience, but moving forward, I'll be sure to take my business to creditable shops I've dealt with in the past. read more

I came across All Star Smog on Yelp and liked that I could do DMV Services on site if I needed to, so I called yesterday morning to inquire and was there promptly when they opened. Moe was fantastic. DO NOT USE! Owner/operator(s) are extremely rude and became verbally abusive when I questioned their testing methods and asked for further clarification. When I was told my battery reset, I explained batteries do not "reset" and I just drove 2 hours with no code reset, no battery change out and vehicle started monthly as it's a summer car (convertible) with a battery conditioner on it at all times and never a dead battery. It was alarming when they would not let me look over what I signed for on the original paperwork. When I finally got a chance to look it over because the lady set it down, he ripped the clipboard from my hand hurting my arm by pulling violently through the customer service spit door while telling me to "F Off". At that moment I dialed 911 for assistance as matters were escalating. It's evident there is a criminal element at this location and it's obvious they have had many issues due to their rather evident poor business operating practices. I will file a formal complaint with the bureau of automotive repair along with civil complaint for illegal misleading/advertising practices. There is no mention on their yelp coupon requiring to show prior to signing nor on the paperwork (not properly filled by shop operator, but demand you to hand over your key and sign (legal document not properly filled out by operator nullifies it as a legally binding agreement) It's apparent they prey on uninformed clientele that do not know their legal rights or available resources. Please note - If you need DMV services, join AAA, you get tow service on top off all DMV registration functions. Don't give money to this terrible establishment. If you need to pay DMV registration and get immediate stickers, go to VONS in Clovis at the DMV kiosk, available 24x7x365 and at NO COST! This establishments rude and quick escalation to violence both with verbal and physical attacks when you ask basic consumer questions shows this business is a high liability to the public and needs to have their license suspended immediately. I came here before without any problems. The second time I came my car had troubles so it failed smog. So they tell me to replace the MAP sensor and then it will pass. So I replace the sensor and I came back and it still failed. They just told me to keep driving it. I end up going to a mechanic and diagnosing it and they told me the MAP sensor was never a problem it was my VCP actuator in the intake manifold. So I wasted almost $200 to fix a part I never needed because I listened to these guys. THEY ARE NOT MECHANICS so if something is wrong with your car just get it diagnosed and fix what is actually wrong. read more

I just went to get a smog check. I didn't pass. The young man asked if I recently had my battery changed I said yes, he told me nothing is reading and that is why. He offered to not charge since I had not been informed. Right then the owner walked in and said no, charge her she can come back as if I wasn't even standing there. He then said he would cash me out and proceeded to charge me $73 dollars to not pass. On yelp the price is 41.75!!! An experienced person would have know this and just plug it back in. You don't get it owner. Your young technicians are incompetent. They unplugged a switch on purpose that made me fail the smog test. Did not replug the switch to the unit ran the test and I had the privilege of paying for his mistake. You failed the simplest test by not paying attention to your work. You fail customer service. And I will never step foot in your fraud business again. Did my car pass smog. Yes, did they do their job quick and offer way more services that can save you a lot of time, but cost more money, yes. I would highly recommend them for a service, but, very important, if you have a coupon, you must MUST show it before the service or else they won't honor it. So the $20 you thought you were spending will quickly go up to $70. He did give me $10 off the final price, but still, I spent $40-$50 more than I anticipated because I didn't jump out of my car waving a coupon around before they started the service. So, if you go, it's a good place, they do the job and they can help with DMV registration for a price (like $40, I don't know, didn't use it.) But the whole coupon thing was a rip-off. read more

She didn't let me use my coupon. $29 vs. $53 is a big difference, and they wanna charge me $31.75 for a retest, thats more expensive than the coupon. $53 is also pretty expensive for smog. Go elsewhere, I already found a lot cheaper places to do this. Together its gonna be 80$ for a smog test. I found places already that offer a free retest. I don't recommend this place at all. Very unprofessional. I started the day off in a good mood. A man takes my paper work for a fake "quote" that he was not qualified to do because he only does smogs. Then finally Tonya, the female in the dmv kiosk arrived 20 minutes late, I checked the clock, I came early but she came way way after 8, like 8:15, (probably getting Morning coffee I'm not sure). As far as I'm concerned, if you're not here before you open- you're late, and Tonya was extremely. Then she ignores me so I have to go up to her and she brushed me away. Finally when she was "ready" she says that her system was "down" and to come back tomorrow, yet she somehow was still gonna be working in there today. So I simply ask how Much will registration cost (ie. Fees) . Mind you I brought up price first. Then she says 40$- because it's expired. (I'm sure that's the flat rate, she just lied) I am a consumer and know that people don't work for free, duh. I said "it's the same online, alright bye." Thats all I did, I did not snatch anything, I was not hostile, they simply want to embellish and make a punctual customer look bad for no reason. I was a bit disappointed, but Still in a decent mood. However that all changed when I drove away and received a random call from the smog man that stated "do not come back" and he hung up before I could even talk. That's when I became angry. So I am here to tell the world. That was unnecessary. I have nothing to gain from lying but they do and they will in response so don't even bother reading their comment, they are all embellishments sadly. I decided to take my car to a mechanic to get sensor fixed that caused my car to fail smog. Mechanic mentioned there was nothing wrong with the sensor. He then ran smog again and it passed with flying colors? Mechanics comment to me was you must have taken it to a younger inexperienced person. Took my vehicle in yesterday for a smog + other services. They wrongfully failed my vehicle the man inside claimed truck was "completely illegal" because of an aftermarket air intake. Female inside said they were "being watched" whatever that means, and had to follow rules closely. Ok? And a wrongful smog is following rules? I tired everything in the book to prove my truck was legal. Showing proof of purchase of intake from auto zone. My other vehicle passed no problem at my regular shop with the same intake on it. Surely I was confused. Tonya told me they(my reg shop) did an illegal smog if that's the case. Um, no? The man in the garage was very rude, threw a postage note with a phone number at me and said "call BAR".. okay? I have never ventured outside my regular smog shop before. I felt very uncomfortable and scammed by this business. Never again will I go here!! Went down the road to my reg guy and he passed my truck no problems. Even gave me all proof of the aftermarket part All Star was talking about. 100% California street legal. I went back for a $40 refund and they called the police. What kind of business are they running here? The police laughed at them when I told them what was happening. Seriously guy, our service men have better things to do than "protect" you from a young woman & her infant asking for a $40 refund on a wrongful smog. I was respectful the entire time, and was showing facts all while telling you I wanted a refund. He simply failed to do his job and when I pointed out the shit job, showed him facts(all proof and paperwork) he got offended and told me he was calling BAR to come and inspect the truck. 5 minutes later clovis PD rolled up.
