We just moved into a new house and wanted to have the HVAC checked before that dreadful Midwest cold starts up. I have to say I sure and happy I had All Temp do a cleaning and checkup on this our furnace. Ashley was awesome to work with coordinating the service call and was very impressed with their communication and followup reminder that they will be coming the next day. The service tech; Jeff, called in advance as promised on time and was super nice. Being that we are still being safe with Covid he had a mask and gloves and we wore ours which was appreciated. I have to say ... with in 10 minutes Jeff was telling me good that we called since there was a dead bird in the burner area of the furnace. He finally got through to a woman with a heavy accent. She mentioned it will be $180.00 to have a tech to just come to our home. We would of paid that anyway given the temperature outside. She told my husband someone will call with a time. We waited 3.5 hours till we decided to go else where. You missed out on a BIG ticket All Temp. It's now 10 hours since my husband called. Update: I called another guy (Eddie) who came out; checked the unit, said All-Temp heating and airconditioning didn't put any freon in my unit. I have the receipt he gave me with this written on it. I m going to our city village tomorrow to lodge a complaint so these guys can't practice in our city anymore. The new tech added freon didn't charge extra and gave me a warranty till next year. He also indicated there are no leaks. Hi guys, I beg you guys to never call these scammers - they are all for getting your money and that is it. I called them today to check out my A/C that just needed some freon added. The technician came on-site and before even hooking anything up to the unit tried to upsell a brand new a/c unit. for the next 40 minutes rather than telling me what's wrong with my a/c he kept insisting that i need a new a/c. I need a new a/c. then he said that I might have a leak in my line. he added a 1 lb of freak @ the rate of 150. then for about 5 minutes sniffed around my furnace to see if there was a leak and couldn't find any. even then he kept insisting that I needed a new unit. keep in mind I have never had any issues with my a/c in the last 10 years. at the end, he charged me, 130 for coming to my house, 105 for labor, and 150 for the material. for a total of 390. he lied to me that my unit needed 6 to 8 lbs of freon. when I checked my unit I saw the original label and it needed a little over 4 lbs of freon. I checked online and 10 lbs freon of R-22 is around 170 at home depot. That's how crocked these guys are, look at their prices and plus they lie. please look elsewhere. they will rob you and do nothing. I still have a broken a/c after spending almost 400. oh yeah, the estimate they gave me was for around 1800 for freon and coil change. I can prove everything in receipts. Please look elsewhere and you will find honest people to do business with. read more

I just had a fantastic experience using All-Temp for a furnace replacement and would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking. I was treated well from start to finish and All-Temp truly exceeded my expectations around every turn. My saga began with another company breaking the news to me during a clean and check that I had a badly cracked/leaking secondary heat exchanger and that the furnace should not be operated any further. On a Friday afternoon I called around to a few companies to give me quotes. I talked to Ted on the phone who came out first thing on Saturday morning for a quote to meet my scheduling needs. He walked me through options and gave me a lot of honest advice. I felt like I was talking to a friend. When he gave me his price for a very nice Lennox furnace that was lower than the comparable systems I got other quotes for, my decision to go with All-Temp was made. Two installers came out first thing Monday morning to install the new furnace. All-Temp made quick scheduling a priority for me since I had no heat which I really appreciated. I have to say that I was blown away by the two installers. They got the job done in about three hours and went above and beyond in multiple ways. First, while they were working to disconnect the old furnace one of the guys noticed a mouse walking along the wall in the utility room (I know, yuck!). He calmed picked it up without harming it and took it outside to release. He absolutely did not have to do this for me and especially with such compassion for the animal. That, to me, says a lot about the character of the people that All-Temp hires. Second, the other installer noticed that I had a humidifier that was set up to run independently. Of his own volition he realized that I had an extra wire in my thermostat bundle and a thermostat (Ecobee) that could automatically control it. I could imagine other companies using this as some kind of upsell opportunity to "integrate my HVAC system" for more money. He just did like he would if it was his own house and hooked the thing up for me. Again, great character and I left feeling more like I was working with a friend who installs furnaces than someone I hired. They cleaned up everything, explained how it all worked, and set up an appointment for a double check by one of the All-Temp managers. That's right - they send out a second person for free to make sure that everything is as it should be. If not, they make it right! That drives a culture of accountability and also gives me as the homeowner great peace of mind that All-Temp has my back. At this point, All-Temp has earned my business for as long as they keep running the business like they are now. I recommend you use them too! read more

As new homeowners, we requested All Temp come out to inspect our HVAC because our upstairs was not getting enough heat. They installed the HVAC unit for the previous owners which is why we used them. The tech came out and after just 30 seconds in our basement, said the problem was due to the remodel from the previous owners and duct work would have to be done by a different company that does sheet metal. A few days later, I decided to check it myself and realized that ductwork from the humidifier was had a huge gap and needed to be reconnected. I called All Temp since the tech never actually checked the unit to come back and look at it. Upon arrival (the same tech) immediately complained that they should have sent a "skinnier" guy because he had to get into our crawl space. Then he asked for duct tape and complained when we didn't have any and he had to return to his car. He was here less than 5 minutes and they decided to charge us AGAIN for his "time and labor". He literally spent 2 minutes duct taping a pipe that he never actually inspected the first time and complained while doing it. I called and the receptionist and she did nothing to help and said "well that is what we charge for labor, no matter how long it takes". The kicker, he never wore a mask or asked if we wanted him to when entering our home. I see there are a lot of heating and air conditioning places in Lake County, I'd try elsewhere first. read more

Had an AC issue where it seemed to be low on freon. Paid for an assessment, which was low freon. R-22 freon is not cheap and they had to add 3-4 lbs of it. In the end I ended up paying $370, even with a discount! This is more of an indictment of most HVAC companies and how they seriously overcharge for the supposedly "rare" freon. Yes, prices are going up but not in-line with the industries gouging. Cost is now about $10/lb, yet they charge $80-120/lb plus the service fee. The tech was nice but wasn't interested in identifying the root cause of the leak, just told me that it would not be worth the cost of finding it. Suggested I do this and if I continue to have an issue, buy a unit for $5K, Hopefully this freon holds for at least 5 years... read more

We had a new AC unit installed last year. Since then it's been nothing but problems and poor service. I think we've had them out 4 times to fix the issues we're having and they haven't fixed it. They have also rescheduled last minute on us when we took the day off work and sent the dog to daycare because they were too busy for us. The first guy who installed the unit was incredibly unprofessional, talked about some personal nonsense, and did a hack install job because he was lazy. This summer we have had problems with the unit sounding like a jet engine upon start up (to the point where it's startling from inside the house) and sometimes it vibrates so hard it shakes the house until we shut it off. something is clearly wrong and they can't seem to figure it out. He immediately said that because I am getting quotes it means that I am looking for the cheapest price possible and they are not that company. I was flabbergasted. I've used All Temp for years and have always received prompt service with fair pricing. The heat went out in my mother-in-law's condo during the recent subzero weather. All Temp promptly answered the call and gave me 2 options, one rate for an emergency call and another during business hours. We chose to get on a list and they would call me back the next morning. Honestly I was skeptical thinking we wouldn't hear from then until later in the day if at all, with the expected high demand for service during such bad weather. I am going to start by telling you to never use this company for anything. They use contract repairmen who have no regard for who they work for other than themselves. I was having an issue with my thermostat - I was busy and just wanted it fixed, so I called Alltemp to perform the work. I should have done my homework, but like I said, I was busy with a number of other pressing issues. Bottom line is I took a beat down from this "tech" who was more carnival shyster than anything else. I felt dirty even dealing with him, and I got pounded for $400 bucks in what turned out to be a $75 dollar device and attaching a few wires in under an hour. I learned the hard way to never to call them again - and am happier for it. read more

I have bought 4 units from them over the years. Had good service in the past or I would not have gone back. This last time I called for service on Sunday, Dec 30th. Darren came out, was nice and fixed my heater. The next day Dec 31st. It went out again. I called for service, Will called me back. After our conversation, he laughed at me and hung up on me. I called back and requested a supervisor, Mick called me, I asked him for a different serviceman. He sent me the same guy. He did his tests and said I need a new about $360 part but he could not get it for 2 days given the holiday. I paid for a second opinion and that service man had us up and running quickly with NO parts at all. We are still running just fine. I have had good service from AllTemp but, as with any company, I suppose you never know who you will get really and what they will pull. Either he did not know how to fix my unit or properly test it (bad) or he had it in for me and wanted my family to go 2 days with no heat and charge me hundreds of $$ in needless fees! (even WORSE!) On Wed the 2nd. They did call back with the exact price of the part ($325). I did not authorize it. A few hours later Mike showed up anyway to put it in. My wife said he was very nice but we did not want it. My 2 stars has taken my past experience in mind. Otherwise ZERO stars! I filled in their customer survey online and have never heard from them yet. It has only been 5 days. read more

He is professional and experienced,. He went directly to the furnace, did a thorough evaluation. I needed a new filter. Throughout this winter with sub zero temperatures my furnace is humming and the temperature does not fluctuate. This guy was very nice and professional..but the original scope of work was around $200 and the final bill was $650!!! We were obviously shell shock to say the least, the only explanation he could give was "sometimes these things happen" not very comforting when your on the wrong side of bait and switch marketing. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! All Temp installed both my furnace and hot water heater, and both have had many many many recurring problems. Their products are not reputable, the service technicians to not always fix problems correctly, and charges vary widely even for the same problem. My water heater has not worked properly since it was 2 years old. All Temp has not fixed the problem despite at least 4 service calls. When we called in another company, we were told that in order to service the water heater they would need a valid serial number, which had been RUBBED OFF THE TANK. When I called All Temp to obtain this information, the model number they supplied was incorrect and the serial number does not exist with the manufacturer. Since All Temp replaced a part for this water heater under warranty, and would have needed a valid serial number to order the part, this appears to be a case of fraud. BEWARE! read more

My 28 year old furnace was dying. I could hear the blower motor grinding away. I got quotes from 5 different vendors. The quote from Rich at All Temp was the most clear and concise of all the quotes. I was getting ready to make a decision when...my furnace died. My first call was to All Temp. Rich sent out Mike to verify that the quote was correct. It was. Mike was the most high tech salesperson I have seen. He had apps to check everything and the contract was on his tablet. They send out Wilie to install a temporary blower so I could have heat untill the new system was installed a few days later. The install of the new furnace and AC went smoothly and the work appears to be very professional. They sent an inspector two days after the install to check the unit. I went with the high efficiency 2 stage variable speed unit. The thermostat is WiFi connected, its like having a tablet on the wall and I can change it from my iphone. Really cool. I called these guys because I saw their ad in the Trib local, which seemed a bit too good to be true. But when I got their quote, and compared it to the 4 others, they had the best deal. Their service was excellent and the only surprises were good surprises. I have had the new system for a month and everything is working well. I am very happy that I selected All Temp. read more

After 22 yrs. the A/C was starting to go, so we went out and explored options and pricing. All Temp sales manager came out to our residence and spent some quality time explaining all the options. We choose the two stage furnace (80 per top of the Lennox line in that type furnace), coupled with ended up to be a 16 seer AC. Elected to go with the Pureair Air Cleaner system...what a supper difference does that make to the air quality....amazing. The installers were absolutely fabulous.....in and out in 6 hours....and neat....my wife wanted to know if they cleaned houses on the side. They have a great follow up Quality Control (Steve) man that comes by in a week or so to check everything out...and he knows everything about heat/ac. Addressed our concerns, made some adjustments. A can say at this point in time....I would HIGHLY recommend this company.....from pricing to installation. And I urge you to drive by there office in (Wauconda) like I did...you will be impressed by that facility. read more

Been using them for years for tuneups without issue. Had my furnace replaced with them about 7 months ago which went well. However, had a new tech come out today to look at my AC. Said that the compressor was shorting out and needed replacement (it was 15 years old). Asked for options and said that I would like some options for something more energy efficient if that was an option. He quoted me for a unit that was similar to my old unit for $3700. But he went on to recommend a larger unit for $6100 that was more energy efficient. He said that if it was up to him, he would definitely do the bigger unit. I told him to leave as that was WAY too expensive. Checked with several other companies in the area that they all sold the same size unit for $3100 ($600 cheaper) and said that they would never put the larger unit in a townhome, or any home north of St. Louis. All Temp tried to scam me to spend $3000 more than I should have to install a unit that was not even recommended for this area or house size, even after being a loyal customer for years. Even the smaller unit was $600 more than it should have been. I will never use them again after this experience. read more

I've used All Temp several times and generally I've been pleased with their service. They're generally pretty quick in diagnosing and correcting the problem. However, when the tech came the last time, it really took him a while to correct the problem and kept asking us about our records for the unit and its' history. We felt that he should have been able to examine the unit and diagnose and correct the problem as the other techs had done in the past. I always get at least three estimates when I have work done on my house. This time I got five estimates and I'm so happy I did. All temp heating and air-conditioning which was the fifth estimate that I got turned out to be a company that was beyond my expectations !!! First Ted who is a comfort adviser came out to the house and I could tell right away he was honest and very knowledgeable about the company's products and my specific needs for my house.he presented me with two different Lenox furnaces which he thought would do the job nicely in my house but recommended one over the other. However on the air conditioner because I have a smaller house he was certain as to the size air-conditionerI needed. I took his advice on the furnace and the air-conditioner and as he was adding up the cost he inadvertently added the cost of the two furnaces instead of the furnace and the air-conditioner which turned out to be $600 less than if he had added up the better furnace and the air-conditioner. He caught the mistake and looked up at me and said we're all adults here I'll install it for the price I accidentally quoted you.The total was thousands of dollars less than The other quotes I got on the same exact product. When the installers came John who had 21 years of experience and Dave John's handyman showed up right on time and began to work installing the furnace and air conditioner. Then the magic started to happen. He needed to make a specific size heating Vent out of sheet-metal and all the heat exchange pipes made from sheet metal also. It was like watching Michael Angelo to see him start with just plain sheet metal and literally build something that was very intricate and built specifically for my house. I would highly recommend this company they are ethical and honest professional knowledgeable and an absolute pleasure to work with. I was a customer of All Temp for 15 years. The first A/C they installed took about six weeks to get it working. They insisted on having the owner's son install it and fix it. Eventually I had to tell them that he wasn't allowed in my house anymore. In their defense, they did give me a few years of free maintenance. I moved and had them do maintenance on my 26 year old A/C which was working perfectly. The day after they came, it stopped working! They came back and the guy added freon, yet noted on paperwork that there wasn't a leak. When our A/C stopped working a few days later, they sent another person, who identified a leak. It was 4:30 on a Friday. We were asking the tech questions, and I kid you not, he walked out mid-conversation. So All Temp sent their "head" technician. He came and made excuses for his techs, one old and probably didn't take his medication, and the other (the one who walked out on me) was known for being rude. I asked him how he could have these people represent their company. I was quoted for a new A/C (which I needed) with a discount. Their price was over $1000 more than other companies for the same product! I did find out that they sold me a two stage furnace (which is more expensive than a one stage) yet never offered us to upgrade to a two stage thermostat! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY unless you want headaches and the feeling like you've been had. read more
