We spent nearly $100 (including an 18% tip) for what was supposed to be an AYCE experience, but we were rushed from beginning to end. Before driving over, my friend and I called the restaurant around 9:30 PM to ask about the last seating because we didn't want to arrive too close to closing. We were clearly told that 10:25 PM was the last seating time, so we made the drive. When we arrived around 9:40 PM, we were suddenly told something completely different. We now had to finish ordering by 10:00 PM because the salad bar and hot food would be closing. We asked multiple times whether we would still be able to enjoy our meal afterward, since an AYCE meal obviously can't be finished in 10 minutes. The staff repeatedly assured us that as long as we placed all of our orders before 10:00 PM, we could take our time eating afterward. Based on that promise, we decided to stay and were seated around 9:45 PM. We rushed to choose our broth and first round of meat. Then, at 9:57 PM, another server came over and announced "last call," telling us we had to place our final order immediately. Our first round of meat had literally just arrived, so we hadn't even had the chance to taste anything before being forced to blindly order our final round. Around 10:20 PM, we were asked to pay the bill early, which we completely understood. We happily paid, including an 18% tip. However, around 10:45 PM, another server came over with a cold attitude and told us the restaurant was closed and that we needed to leave. We immediately said okay and prepared to leave, but we were forced to leave before we even finished the food that was already on our table. The menu clearly advertises a 90-minute dining limit, yet we were only allowed to stay for about an hour. TO THE MANAGER: IF YOU CANNOT HONOR YOUR OWN 90-MINUTE DINING POLICY, THEN STOP ACCEPTING NEW TABLES AFTER 9:30 PM. MORE IMPORTANTLY, DON'T TELL CUSTOMERS OVER THE PHONE THAT THEY CAN TAKE THEIR TIME EATING AFTER PLACING THEIR ORDERS IF YOU HAVE NO INTENTION OF HONORING THAT PROMISE. We paid nearly $100 for an AYCE meal, were forced to order everything within minutes, and then were asked to leave before finishing the food we had already paid for. It felt like the restaurant wanted one last table before closing without providing the dining experience it promised. We won't be coming back. Having tried Hot Pot elsewhere, we came here based on a recommendation and a review of their website. The place is nice and spacious. We were quickly greeted and asked if we've been here before. We were given a brief rundown on how their buffet model works and then set out to eat. Plenty of items to choose from and did not have the room to try them all. So things to look forward to when we come back. Similar to the old Souplantation, there was free soda refills and soft serve ice cream for dessert. Table service was great and we were checked on regularly asking if we needed more meats. There was no rush for us to leave and we enjoyed our meal. When the bill came, it was a bit more than what was on the website, so that would be the only negative. I've been here multiple times and, for the price, it is worth it. It is buffet style and perfect for large groups. I love how everyone gets their own hotpot, as I don't like sharing the pot. The meat is good, there is a huge sauce rack, variety of noodles, seafood, veggies, etc. Love the variety. Also, they have Korean rice punch (my fave to get there). Also, they have ice cream you can bring out in a little cup. I think that they can work on cleaning the dishes a bit better, since I've found some unclean chunks of food. I've been here a couple times before this visit a couple years ago. My friend who is going through medical treatment suggested this place because she needs to eat plenty of vegetables. There are all kinds of leafy greens, such as crown daisy, bok choy, spinach, broccoli, and other types, such as cabbage, and at least four kinds of mushrooms. There's also a kabocha squash, corn, and cubed tofu. If you've never been here before, parking is good, but it does fill up quickly. It's located in an area with other businesses that are closed by dinner time. The restaurant is located at the opposite end of BevMo. Look for the maroon burgundy colored awning over the restaurant front entrance. We came on a Friday evening around 5:30 PM. Make sure that all of your party is present so that you can be seated. Our servers were attentive and constantly came back to check on us. The first thing they'll ask is what type of broth you'd like. If you're undecided, you can choose two and they'll pour it directly into your pot. I requested the spicy beef and bone broth. What I appreciate is there are boxes of plastic gloves at the front end of the food stations. It helps when touching so many different serving utensils handled by so many people. On this day, there was only XXL size gloves or one size fits all, it'll do the trick. As for the selection, there's something for everyone. There is a large variety of vegetables, seafood, and fish balls, quail eggs and hot foods which is mostly fried items and two sauce stations. Drinks are also included with the meal. There's a soda machine and a couple teas and coffee. For dessert, there's a vanilla soft serve ice cream machine and sesame balls available. They have a self serve bar that offers a good range of options of ingredients, including vegetables, noodles, rice cakes, seafood, dumplings, etc. to add to your pot. A great perk for me was that it also includes unlimited refills on refreshments like soda, green tea, iced tea, coffee, and rice punch (shikhye). They also offer some dessert items like ice cream, which is a nice way to end your meal. It definitely feels like you get a big bang for your buck! It took almost an hour to be seated, which honestly is reasonable considering the holiday. My first time here was about a year ago and there was about a 30 minute wait for a party of 3 on a weekend at night. What I love about this place is the large variety of shabu meats as well as the variety of options in the buffet area. For $38/person (weekend/holiday price), you have access to different meats, including filet mignon, ribeye, and many other delicious meats. We did half and half and that was a great base for the cooking liquid. The selection of sauces were great - I recommend lots of garlic. I really enjoyed the peanut and the sesame. The chili oil had a great spice level. Drink options included ice tea (green, black, rice) and coffee. I loved the green tea. Also, don't miss the cooked/prepared foods. I really liked that you can get your own individual pot here. For meats, we went for all the beef options, and I feel like I liked the three angus meats a lot.
