I have been a patient parent of Allen Animal Clinic since the 90's and have always thought they were the best! The entire staff are kind and considerate. I've had MANY pets, - dogs, bearded dragons, goats, donkeys, they have always helped me with all of them. But it was a most recent horrible decision I had to make to put one of my dog babies to sleep that will ALWAYS stand out as the most important I have ever had with Allen Animal Clinic, specifically with Dr. Balie White. I've known Dr. White through this clinic for about 15 years. Jagger was 14 years old and was having many problems, but the worst were with his legs and calluses on his elbows. Dr. White always helped Jagger (and me) with competency, kindness and compassion that you need for your pets. But It was during her visit to my home on the last day of Jaggers life that I will remember with affection and gratefulness forever. Dr. White was compassionate, considerate, loving and caring to my baby and she really helped ME during this awful time by taking her time to just make a bad situation not as bad. There is nothing that can take away the pain of losing a beloved pet and family member but having someone who really does care makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD! love this place! I saw Dr. White well over a decade ago when my Max was just a pup. She immediately knew he had corneal dystrophy - at only 6 months old. I have not been to this clinic in quite sometime until last week. We saw Dr. Norton and I was very impressed with his bedside manner, knowledge and conservative approach with my Lola girl. They're super nice and helpful folks at this clinic and I will continue to send my animals their way. They also treat large animals- it appears quite a bit of horses. I know Dr. White is an Aggie and has an affinity to horses. I have an affinity to Dr. White, not only because we share the same alma mater, but she is just a really cool person and makes you feel so comfortable with her knowledge and plan of care for your fur babies. read more

We love Dr. Norton and all the other docs and staff at AAC. They have been treating our cats and dogs for several years. A few years ago we adopted a kitten that wound up with FIP soon after, and Dr. Norton made sure we were able to bring him in every few days to follow up to make sure that he was not in pain. He helped him across the bridge when it was time. The staff is very caring and kind, and if you choose cremation, they continue with empathy and condolences when you return for the remains. We just recently had to let our oldest cat go at almost 19 years of age, and we are so thankful for the kindness we received through the whole process. 100% the best clinic in the area! read more

This used to be a wonderful clinic before the owner retired. I have been going here for my 2 dogs for 13 years but recently, it's impossible to get an appointment. I called on Monday morning to make an appointment for my sick senior dog who has been going there since he was a puppy. They told me to go to an emergency vet that they didn't have availability for over a week! Do not go to this clinic! They will not squeeze you win if your dog is sick or it's an emergency! I didn't need to be seen by an emergency vet! I chose a new vet down the street who is able to see me that same day! The new vet diagnosed and treated my dog for kidney failure! Shame on you for not caring about your ill patient! If you're not able to see your current patients you need to hire a new veterinarian!!! read more

Very glad I found this place for my beloved dog. We started here from puppyhood, and have stayed ever since (he's nearly a year old now). We worked with multiple vets over the course of all our visits, and found each doctor to be extremely open and helpful with all our needs and questions. They were also very realistic about what expectations we should have given the age and maturity of our little dog, and how to best deal with each phase of his growth. Costs are also realistic and very fair. I shopped around multiple animal hospitals and clinics before deciding on this one. I have no regrets. The only negative I have to note is the occasional long wait times. Walk-ins are welcome for only certain treatments/types of visits, so we typically schedule all our appointments. However even when we arrive on time, more often than not we're left in the waiting room for 15mins to sometimes 45mins. Beware, if you have cat allergies this can be a nightmare. And yes, this place is a little smelly sometimes so if that bothers you, well, maybe you shouldn't have pets? It's part of pet parenthood, and definitely part of pet hospitals and clinics. I think given the trade they're in, they're pretty clean. read more

We have used this clinic for over 20 years. They do an excellent job. They're very thorough and I never feel rushed during my visits. They explain all tests that are done and treat conservatively and I really appreciate that they don't do unnecessary tests. We just had an appointment today with our newest puppy and I will always take our dogs there. They've always been very compassionate and empathetic when we've had to make the difficult decision to have our dogs euthanized. Any of the Dr.'s we've seen there have been great & the rest of the staff is awesome too. I can't say enough good things about them! read more

Just moved to the area about 6 months ago and was devastated about leaving my last vet who my dog and I just adored. I honestly put off looking for a new vet, but my dog got extremely sick and I kicked myself for not looking sooner. I stumbled on this place because it 1. Was open on Saturday and 2. Got pretty good reviews on here. I raced in with my baby in tow and was seen almost immediately (there was a little wait, but I didn't have an appointment so that is totally fine with me!) They were very understanding that my dog is sometimes aggressive towards other dogs and let us enter the building through the side door instead of going through the lobby/waiting room. Dr. Balie White came to meet us and to examine Talus. And let me tell you, she was just incredible. You could tell she really cared about helping animals and was very knowledgeable. She was very patient with me (I tend to overshare so I gave her my dog's entire life history basically) and did a very thorough exam on him. She explained everything she found and what she thought was wrong with him and told us what treatment she thought was best and why. I can't tell you how sincerely grateful I am for her walking us through everything instead of just telling us what we needed to do. The second time we went in to do a recheck we were planning on taking some x-rays. But Dr. White did a re-exam and said that she didn't think it was necessary at that current time. That saved me a ton of money, and it was so thoughtful of her to not do any unnecessary treatments. I would gladly pay for x-rays to help her diagnosis if thats what she thought was best, but it was just so nice that she's not in this profession solely for the monetary value. Like I said earlier, she truly cares about helping animals. We've been there a couple of times and the whole staff has always been so great! Bottom line, I will be a forever patient for Allen Animal Clinic and would recommend it to anyone that has a fur-baby. read more

We took our dog Manchu here soon after we rescued him. We went right when it opened at 8AM on a Saturday, where they allow walk-ins. There were a few people that came at the same time as us, but we were all able to be seen in a quick manner. It was a good thing that there were a good number staff already available. We were seen by Dr. Byron Norton, who was very nice and friendly. He checked on our dog, and gave us some guidelines and suggestions being that he was just rescued. He also checked on his existing records and gave us recommendations on his heartworm/flea and tick treatments, and also let us know when he is due for his next visit. The visit was pretty quick, but he didn't make it feel rushed at all. He made sure to fully check on our dog, answer all of our questions, and also gave Manchu a treat. After our visit, I had forgotten to ask for a exam report for my pet insurance, so I called the office and they immediately emailed me the report. They also were able to quickly fulfill the prescription request we had for his monthly treatments. Overall, we had a very good experience here. The vet and staff are awesome! I cannot say enough great things about this clinic. I've been going for about 6 years and I'll never go anywhere else. (Well, minus the 2 years I lived in NYC) I've seen all of the vets here, but absolutely love Dr. White. I'm what you might call a crazy dog momma, and she is always so patient and understanding. As a matter of fact, when I find a new lump or bump smaller than a pinhead, she says that "only you would find it!". (Proof that I'm crazy. ) She always tells me when to worry and when not to worry about my pups problems and would never advise me to get something done that wasn't necessary. Same with Dr. Hefner. He's just a laid back good 'ole boy. :) The best part? Every time we walk in the door they yell "Scooouuutttt!" along with lots of love and attention. Seriously, I LOVE this place! Wow. The first thing you noticed when you walk in is that this place smells really badly! I understand that it is full of animals, but it really stinks. We boarded our dog here for three days. When we picked her up, they Febreezed her. Literally. Right in front of us. They Febreezed her. It didn't help. She smelled as though she had been rolling around in poop for days. To top it off, she had diarrhea for about a week. She was house-trained, but we had to clean up behind her for a week! This place is cheap and I am sure that they love animals, but it is nasty! read more

I've been taking my Schnauzer here for 4 years. I had previously gone to a vet in Plano but had grown increasingly dissatisfied with their lackadaisical attitude toward my dog's skin allergies. A friend had recommended Allen Animal Clinic, and I have been highly satisfied with the care my dog has received at AAC. Dr. White completely understood my dog's skin allergy issues, and was able to give him the right meds to get it under control. AAC was significantly cheaper as well. I really love Dr. White, but Dr. Hefner is a very good doctor as well. I never have trouble getting my dog in for emergency visits, and the wait time is usually only 5 minutes or so unless there's been some sort of emergency. Contrary to Jason's review from 3/8/12, this office does *not* smell. He had to have been talking about Allen Veterinary Hospital, which is very close to Allen Animal Clinic on Main St. AVH has a lot of animal cages in their waiting room, filled with ferrets, etc, and it smells horrible. Their whole waiting room has a chaotic feel. (Loud blaring tv). Before coming to AAC, I took my dog there once for emergency surgery on his muzzle after being bitten by another dog while on a walk. They did a good job stapling his muzzle up, and I was satisfied with his care, but could not bring them my regular business because of the chaotic smelly waiting room and waiting room staff who ignore patients. I imagine people mix these two places up a lot. Allen Animal Clinic has no pet cages in its small waiting room, so no smell. No blaring TV's either. It is a small, peaceful, no frills office, with a friendly staff and great doctors. read more

The two young girls that are receptionist are the most rude and unprofessional staff ever, they saw me walk in but where on the phone so I just waited, then she finished and just rolled her eyes at me and talked to her coworker and left me standing for almost 5 minutes then finally asked if I had been helped, after saying no, she said she was just going to let me wait there. After getting my information she gave me the medicine I needed for my animals and rang me up, she slammed a paper on the desk for me to sign and snatched it away. Then threw the medicine on the table and answered the phone after rolling her eyes and did not acknowledge me after to tell me I was fine to go so I just left. I've had many several bad experiences with both the younger girls at this vet and they need to find a new profession were they are not dealing with customers with their bad attitude. read more

I was recommended this vet from another vet's office in Plano. I am so glad that they told me about this vet. It's a small office and Dr. Hefner is a "good ole boy" and he was very caring and listened to my concerns. When I took my cat back for her follow up appointment, I met Dr. White and I loved her! Dr. White was one of the only vets we could find to come to our home to put our beloved Apollo to sleep. He was a 13 1/2 year old Great Dane and suffering from joint issues and having seizures. We were totally heart broken. Baley and her team came to our home and showered Apollo with attention. She explained the process completely and waited until my husband (who was crying uncontrollably) was ready. She also directed her attention to our 7 year old son as well as he wanted to hold Apollo until he slipped away to Heaven. Her tender care of Apollo was exactly what we prayed for. Our neighbors referred us to her. I cannot say enough, she helped a grieving family say goodbye to a faithful family member. It was very peaceful. The last thing she said to my son Austin was " He is chasing butterflies now Austin." read more

After having issues with the past two vets I've taken my dog to, this clinic was a relief. The office staff is wonderful. They were all extremely helpful and friendly. My dog was diagnosed with kidney disease by the last vet but the food she prescribed was causing him to shed and itch. So when I took him in for shots I also asked about switching foods. I had called my old vet previously to have test results faxed but they weren't coming through. The office staff was extremely patient about all of this. They ended up having to redo the blood test but Dr. Hefner did no more than absolutely necessary and the test was 6 times cheaper than the other vet. He also showed me the test results and took time to explain everything to me, which was really nice. He gave me options on what food to feed and prescribed one that I am still happy with. Dr. Hefner and his staff were also excellent with my dog. He left the vets office happier than he was when he came in and was happily wagging his tail when they brought him back in from the blood test. Pretty impressive seeing as he just got poked with a needle. Dr. Hefner also talked to him while he was examining him and called him "pard'ner" (which I thought was adorable). The office was very neat and clean (you could smell the sanitizing solution) and everyone seemed devoted to making the pets as comfortable as possible. You can really tell that this vet and his staff are in this business because they love animals and not just for the money. All in all, this is a fantastic vet and I plan on taking my pets there as long as I'm in the area. read more

I was having issue after issue with my 6 yr old horse - brought him in to Dr. Bailey and she was amazing! Instead of immediately resorting to doing X-rays which would cost more she did a less expensive opt first to determine what was going on. She explained everything without me having to have to ask n she did it in a way that never made me feel dumb. She even ran behind my horse In circles to try n see if he was coming up lame. She was thorough and her whole team was very nice. She was the first equine vet that I truly felt comfortable with since I've had my horse. I highly recommend Dr. Bailey to anyone! She also saw our foster dog a Large Rottie n she was great with him too. Reasonable priced vet!! read more

If I could not pick a star I would. I am very upset with this vet. My dog was brought in and they scared me saying he needed emergency surgery and that it would cost me $1,500. If I didn't do it right then and there my dog would die! As I sat in the room my best friend helped me search a different vet and I went there. Needless to say 2 days later he did have surgery but the cost was a 1/3 and got the best care from them for me and my dog that I ever felt from this vet! To me this seems like a vet only seeking to make money and not actually caring about your beloved animals! I will never come back here again! read more
