Alley Taps is a historic speakeasy and live music bar located in Printers Alley. We came here after our experience at Pushing Daisies didn't pan out. We were looking for some drinks, good music, and an authentic vibe. Alley Taps is that and with its rustic, subterranean vibe with exposed brick and low lighting, it was definitely a less touristy alternative to the nearby Broadway honky-tonks. The Nick Cross band was on and they were very good. Even better were the 2 female singers that came on in the middle during a band member break. That only lasted 2 numbers and we were hoping for more. Nick also has a "potty mouth" with an occasional string of F-words coming out at odd times. But Holy Moly, could this band (especially the fiddle guy) play. If listening to the band wasn't your thing, the people watching was stellar. So was the Buffalo vs. Boston NHL playoff game on the TV. A fun night was had by all. And yes, we paid a nice tip via Venmo. read more

Alley Taps is a fun, classic Nashville bar located in Printers Alley. We stopped in on a Thursday evening. We each had their Nashville cider which was phenomenal. We sat at the front by the stage. We were able to catch a set by Kyle Seitz and a supporting band. Originally we had only planned to stay for a half hour while waiting for another bar open, but the set was so good, we sat there for close to two hours until they finished! The staff at this bar were friendly, prices were reasonable and the music wasn't so loud that you couldn't hear yourself think. The bar wasn't too crowded and it just felt comfortable in here the entire time. 10/10 and better than the bars on Broadway for sure. read more

Good music, no cover, fun crowd and a photo booth make this bar an enjoyable spot to grab some beers (and maybe a few shots of Tennessee Fire) and stay awhile when delving into Printer's Alley. Nice to be able to sit either at the bar, small side tables or at bigger seating options in the back for larger groups. There's just something about the sound of live music spilling out of a doorway in a Nashville alleyway that puts me in a good mood. Stepping into said doorway and being greeted by the resident bar dog? (I think her name was Lou Anne...) Well that's just the icing on the cake! Alley Taps is not an intimate romantic get away, and isn't a hipster kombucha pub, it's the perfect little Nashville dive bar, just a quiet hole in the wall to go in, have a beer, pet a dog, and have a great time drinking and listening to some good music. Found this place down a dark alley; heard this incredible music and I had to turn back and wow I found this bar very cool ordered an Old fashion got to keep it classy it's 95 degrees outside by the way. But omg I really love this place. And the drinks are amazing. Once in a while you run into a gem of a place I highly recommend it. Great lil place in Printers Alley. It's dark inside but has a decent layout. There are some couches in an area on the way towards the restrooms. The bar area had a good seating as well as multiple tables. There was live music but the musician wasn't playing when we arrived and was actually on a long break (in my opinion). Once he did start playing it was pretty good. They had a good selection of beers and whiskeys/bourbons. The bartenders were friendly and we were served right away. I'd check it out again the next time I'm in town. Honestly, there are a lot of places along that alley and all had live music going on. Loved it. read more

My girlfriend & I were on a weekend trip in Nashville and we really didn't have a set agenda but we knew we wanted to just grab a drink somewhere nice and cool. We stumbled upon Alley tap in Printers Alley. It was a nice vibe and not too busy inside. It'd be super fun to come there on the weekend when it gets a bit more busy, but it was nice for what we were looking for. For the drink we got whiskey cocktails and beers and it was just a fun time. They had some good music, the bartenders were nice and we were able to just sit down and just have a quick drink before we went on our way. read more

Good live music. Horrible bar service. Wife ordered a pepperoni pizza. They gave her a cheese. Took it back to the bar and the guy says, "we ran out of pepperoni." Huh? So you couldn't say that prior? Then she orders a gin and club soda and the guy makes her a gin and tonic. She lets him know and he shrugs his shoulders. Didn't make her a new one. Unfortunately, she paid for it. If I were up there I would have slid it across back to the jackass. read more

Visited here twice, once on Friday night when we started with a fiddle-guitar duo and also heard a classic country band. The next night we also heard a singer-songwriter duo and then ended the night with a most excellent cover band. Came here based on the recommendation of our waitress at a nearby restaurant. Our waitress was great at the other establishment. The bar was not too crowded when we arrived. It did not appear that table service was available so I walked up to the bar to order a drink. I waited several minutes as four bar employees walked back and forth behind the bar, passing me by repeatedly. I noticed that other customers who had walked up to the bar after I did were being provided service. These other patrons had a skin color of a lighter persuasion. It became obvious after several minutes of being ignored that this Hispanic was not going to be waited on, so we left and spent our money elsewhere. This was the first time I have experienced this type of bigotry during three separate trips to Nashville. The Alley Taps staff was obviously not raised well, bless their hearts. read more

Used to be a hidden gem; now it's robbery. 4 drinks; 76 bucks (Before tip) 2 Margaritas and two bourbon on ice (one was a double; Jack Daniels and not even close to two shots) It made me sad actually because I loved this place when it opened. The Marg was priced 11 bucks for the "well" tequila shot and 6 dollars on top of it to make it a marg. I'm sorry but it's not necessary and sickens me about the price gouging; ruined a great venue. read more

This place is a hidden gem in Printer's Alley. Thanks, Yelp or I might have walked by and not even noticed this place. We came here twice and saw two really entertaining bands. One night was rock and one was country. This is a smaller place (though with lots of seating) wasn't too crowded at night and had a friendly, low key vibe. You had everyone from bachelorette parties to folks in their 70s and everyone was having a good time. Drink prices were reasonable and it almost felt like (in a good way) you were hanging out in your friend's comfortable basement. Oh yeah, the men's restroom wasn't exactly the cleanest but that's to be expected sometimes in a bar. This place is worth checking out and I'd come here all the time if I lived in Nashville. I hate to give a little bar a mediocre review, but I wasn't a fan of Alley Taps. A group of us came here after a convention to listen to some live music and enjoy some drinks, and it was just an okay experience. The live bands were great, but pretty much every band playing at any bar in Nashville are talented and fun to listen to. The atmosphere here was relaxed and chill, and there was plenty of seating. The lighting was dark which made the whole place feel intimate and cozy. The problem is that for a place that supposedly specializes in beer, they didn't serve their beer at a proper chilled temperature. Even worse, every beer we ordered was almost completely flat! I even had a glass of sparkling wine to mix things up and it, too, was flat (had about 3 bubbles in it). I can forgive a lot of things but I cannot forgive overpriced, warm, and flat drinks. read more

Alley Taps was a welcome refuge from the chaos of modern day Nashville. Small seating venue permits you to sit and enjoy original story tellers and melodic tunes while enjoying your beverage and friends. The crowd was welcoming and homogeneous. "I LOVE THIS BAR! It's my kinda place...." - Tobey Keith A total hidden gem, the service was awesome! I wish I remember the bartenders name, but he was a total star. The whole vibe of this bar is laid back, relaxed, and fun. We were waiting for a reservation at Puckett's on a Sunday when we decided to check this place out. It was well priced, and great drinks. Best of all after we settled in a band started playing, and they were terrific. Lots of great reviews for this place. But I must have gone at a bad time. We went for happy hour and it was buy one get one free, we ordered a double (recommended by our bartender) and it was weak. But still we were looking forward to the food that had mixed reviews. We ordered the nachos, the breadsticks witch cheese, and the buffalo wings. The prices were about right for Nashville, it was $40 for three appetizers and 2 drinks. But we wouldn't spend our money here again. The food was pretty rough, the breadsticks were yummy, but the nachos were from a bag and the sour cream came pre-packaged. The wings were not bad, but definitely nothing to brag about. Basically think of this place as cheap bar food and cheap drinks. The service was interesting. We weren't sure whether to seat ourselves or order at the bar, we found out later that you ordered at the bar. That was all fine until we went to a table and we weren't sure whether they run it over it or not, my husband noticed it had come out and was sitting on the bar for about 5 minutes, so he went up to get it. He was told that they usually run it but we're busy. Overall, I would only come back here to listen to the music or escape broadway for a cheap drink. Cool little bar in Printer's Alley. I went to Alley Taps twice during my stay in Nashville. Great bartenders, a lot of local brews. It seems small but has bar seating, table seating, and a spot near the restrooms with couches and tables. Very clean even though it has a bit of a dive bar feel. Very friendly bartenders, I felt right at home at this joint. I much prefer the bars in Printer's Alley to the neon bohemoths on Broadway. Both nights I went to Alley Taps there was live music. The first night was 2 women and a drummer and they alternated between originals and pop and rock favorites. Second night was a country bad which did the same, but they played more originals. There is no cover charge so be sure to remember the tip bucket on your way out. Both nights had great music and given its location in downtown Nashville, I expected the prices to be higher. Would definitely return on a future trip. read more

One of Nashville's most unique bar experiences. They have all the live music you crave with none of the touristy blandness. They are located in Palmers Alley and have stone walls that give the impression you're drinking in a cellar. The beer list is ever changing and unique, but let's be real, it's the music that matters. They keep it going 7 days a week, and the lineup is great, including one of the only open mics you'll find in the city. You're sure to find some fun no matter when you visit. read more

I really enjoyed this bar. On a hot Nashville day, my wife found this jewel in Printers Alley. It almost has a dive bar appeal to it, dark, cool with quite conversations going on. They have separate more intimate area you can sit and be alone and secluded with that special someone. I came back in the evening a few days later and they have song writers playing their own music on stage in a very personal setting. Truly recommend an escape from the summer heat! read more

Definitely an alley and doorway that you would probably not venture through. But you'd miss out on a great little bar with great live music. We saw 4 person acoustic guitar set. Each musician took turns. Very entertaining. Servers, bartender was very pleasant. Drinks are reasonably priced and well made. Serve pizza brought in by the slice otherwise no food here. Fun stop around 7pm on Tuesday. read more
