Love this place. My go-to nail salon. They gave the best manicures and the best massages during a pedicure. Family owned business, clean, and relaxing. They sometimes have free wine, but you just need to ask. I love making an appointment so they are ready for me, but at times I have just done a walk in and usually can help me within 15-min or right there. Tonight was my first time coming here. My friend had told me about their paraffin wax pedi. & so we went tonight. It was awesome I had the guy and he was so kind and did an awesome job. This place is owned by a family and you can feel the love there. Everyone is so sweet. They offered us water or wine. There's an adorable toddler boy that's the owners grandchild. Jaden is such a cutie!! Overall, we had a great experience and I will be coming here again. Their paraffin wax pedi was only $26 and it was soooo worth it. 7/14/2014 I went back yesterday.. so I have a little update but not much. They're still wonderful and sweet. I went in on Sunday for a normal nail fill and by Monday morning was in extreme pain in every single nail. By Tuesday morning my hands were double in size and I had to go to the hospital and have my acrylics removed. The doctor discovered that I had a staph infection on every single nail from dirty tools used on my hands. The pain is unbelievable and almost unbearable. I have had to go to the dr twice now to adjust the strong antibiotics that I am on. I can barely move my hands. I have left a message with allure in hopes of a return call and still nothing from them. I am very sad that they haven't even checked on me. I have had acrylic nails for awhile and have never had a bad experience like this. I should note that I usually go to another place but my friend and nail girl was out of the shop for a couple months. I do not wish this on anyone, this is horrible. It's beyond painful and embarrassing and frustrating. I hope that if anyone else was there on this day and is experiencing the same pain to reach out. This is so horrible. I hope it's over soon but I imagine I will also have to be tested for other things after. Please make sure the people doing your nails clean the tools. read more

Couple of things to note: **CASH ONLY** no Debit or Credit Cards. This info is not on their website so I was unprepared for that. **Make an appointment!** They have only a few people that do the actual nails and you are guarenteed a wait of 20 minute or more if you don't book ahead. **Bring your own filing kit or you have to buy one of theirs** (also not on the website) **English is NOT spoken here, unless you speak Chinese you better not have any questions. They have one dominate English speaker but even she has the vocabulary of a 6 year old (not trying to be mean, it's true)** All that aside, they have a great selection of Shellac colors, and regular colors. Cheapest salon prices I've seen in all of Portland, lets not forget the saying you get what you pay for though.... The young man who did my nails today, I guarentee, has never been to any kind of nail school. My nails are all crocked because he filed them a weird direction and he didn't cut them all the same length. I am not super picky about my nails like some women, but it sticks out enough that it's bugging me, and I've had to fix them with my own file. However, the place is spic and span, the pedicure tubs where super clean and the massage chairs are nice too. My overall Mani/Pedi Shellac I had there today I give a 3/5-- I guess my search for the perfect salon is not over. read more

Ridiculous. Absolutely the worst nail salon experience I've ever had. My fiance and I made an appointment (it was his first time) to get our nails done for our wedding. They seemed a bit busy but we didn't mind waiting. Pedicure was fine, but we both got cut twice during our manicure. The tools were dull, and they cut our cuticles pretty badly. Additionally, I picked a color for my manicure and didn't realize it was too clear. When I mentioned this, the woman doing my nails asked what I wanted. I said I thought it would be more pink. She immediately grabbed a pink color and just started painting my nails. I wasn't able to really see them until they were already 2 coats in. I didn't like the color. When I told her this, she laughed at me and said I picked the color. I told her this was for my wedding, and I really didn't want the color. She said there was nothing she could do and continued to laugh at me. The man who did my pedicure apologized, and said I could come back the next day to have the color changed. I thanked him, and left frustrated but open to giving them a second chance. When I came in the next day (again, made an appointment), they laughed at me and said they wouldn't change the color without charging me more. And that the person who had promised to have the color fixed (someone's father) didn't know what they were talking about. They called me a liar, and I finally couldn't take it anymore. I asked for a refund, and they told me no, that's why they only accept cash. Ultimately, I lost $80 for a 2.5 hr mani/pedi, to a business that is not well run, and does not treat it's customers well. At least 5 people were turned away because they could not keep up with the people they were helping. And a few people were jumped in line by regulars. This was a terrible experience, and I would not recommend ANYONE patron this business. read more

I absolutely loved Allure! The customer service was amazing and everyone was so kind. Now that it is under new management, it is clear it has become a much better salon. The prices were reasonable and my nails turned out exactly how I wanted them to. I got gel nails with tips and now 3 1/2 weeks later they have all stayed on with no problems (other than the typical grow-out but obviously there's nothing you can do to stop that). This is a well deserved long review! My sister and I scheduled 11 am pedicures during her hour lunch break. We arrived ten minutes early, and weren't seated until 11:15. They eventually started running my water at 11:30 and at 11:40 my sister was next to me with her feet in an empty tub. I politely asked if they could start with my sister's pedicure since she was on her lunch break, and then I'd finish after since I wasn't in a rush. I received a very confused look, he then spoke to a coworker but said nothing back to us, and no one arrived to help my sister. Finally at 11:45am (55 minutes after she walked in the door) a lady came over and turned my sisters water on without saying a word to either of us. By this point, there was no way my sister could get a pedicure before her lunch ended in five minutes. My sister told the lady: "Sorry, but I don't have time, I've been waiting almost an hour." The lady turned her water off, didn't say a word and walked away. Highlights of our visit: - We weren't greeted, nor did the man helping me ever speak to me. I had to Google images of a "smaller French tip line" since he couldn't understand my request of asking, "can you make the line a little thinner?" - We were never offered drinks. Their menu says they offer free drinks to customers and at other nail salons I've gone to they always ask, especially when customers are waiting for extended periods. -I was told three different prices from different workers for my pedicure. -Once my pedicure was done, without saying a word to me, the man picked up my stuff and moved it over to the drying area. I stayed there for ten minutes before getting up to pay so I could leave since it seemed no one would tell when I was ready. - Once at the register, I wasn't acknowledged for 2 minutes. Finally, a man walked up to the front desk, but to answer a call that lasted five minutes. A relaxing pedicure date with my sister turned into an unpleasant, stressful event. Neither of us will EVER return to this salon, which is unfortunate since it's within walking distance of her work and a quick drive from my house. If this salon so poorly handled two customers with appointments, I can't image the service given to walk-ins. Hopefully, this review saves potential clients from choosing a place that's a headache waiting to happen and sparks some change from the business. read more

I honestly didn't think that I will cheat on nail person but I did with this place and I kinda liked it l, lol. It's actually very clean and people seem really nice. I didnt feel like they were trying to push me to upsell or taking crap about me. The guy did a great job with nails by taking care of my cuticles and my dead skin under my feet. The only reason I gave this place 4 out of 5 is because I wish the guy would have massaged harder, I think he did it soft since I am tiny. Also they didn't offer any drinks. I've been getting my nails done for the last 20 years and this place is the absolute ever. After my appt started 25 minutes late, they convinced me to get the more expensive "dip which took an hour. My nails looked awful. There was paint all over my cuticles which they tried to remove by filing my skin. Which in turn made my cuticles bleed. When I pointed it out, she said she didn't do that to my nails. Unbelievable. Horrible work and even worse customer service. I'm a regular customer, and it's because Tina and her crew do an amazing job at a very reasonable price. I typically request Anna to do my nails, because she knows what I like and is quick and very good at manicures and pedicures. Henry is very good too. Sure, they are Vietnamese and are not all 100% fluent in English, but give them a break. Tina has built this salon into a thriving business and is living the American dream, built up on hard work and good customer service. I don't think that girl ever takes a day off. I'm happy to support this small local, woman-owned business. No complaints whatsoever about the cleanliness, pricing or accommodating nature of the staff. read more

I don't write a lot of reviews... usually when really good or the opposite like this. I called this place to see if they had availability for a mani/pedi and they told me to come right in. I was doing it last minute for a trip, so i don't know if this experience was due to the last minute nature of the visit, but this was one of the worst mani/pedis I've ever had. Of note, there was no one there when I got there. They started with the pedicure and offered me nothing in the way of options (wax, massage, beverage, etc). The man doing the service seemed totally not interested - he barely used the pumice (and my feet needed it desperately ) and his "massage" was weak at best. I had asked to see the shellac color choices, but they didn't give them to me until the mani started, which was awkward to thumb through while she was trying to work on my hands. The mani was just horrible. The woman, who seemed to be the matriarch there, was incompetent. I've had a lot of manicures, so I know what should occur. A bowl of water was brought out, but when I went to put my fingers in there, she sharply told me no. After filing my nails she had me place my hands in the water. Literally 15 seconds later she removed them and they never went back in. She added some of that cuticle lotion and immediately proceeded to cut my cuticles like crazy. They were not remotely softened and she was severely cutting them. She was rough with this process and made three of my cuticles bleed. She actually seemed surprised by that too. Then she started talking to her coworkers in her native language very loudly (seemed angry) while she was polishing my nails and then "massaging" my arms. After 20 minutes she told me she was talking about her family, which was why she was so aggravated. It was so awkward. (A week later and my cuticles are cracked and scabbed. The polish lasted so far, but who cares if your fingers look mutilated.) Another lady came in at this point and a young woman worker came out from the back. This lady was offered a menu of services and a beverage, funnily enough, by two people including the guy who did my pedicure. I just could not wait to get out of there. They knew this was my first time there (one of the only times they talked to me), so you would think they would want repeat business? Not from me...and hopefully I prevent you from making the same mistake. read more

I received a one hour spa pedicure treatment and it only cost $35 despite being high quality. The facilities are very clean and there isn't an over powering smell that you encounter at most salons. The WORST pedicure I have ever gotten in my life. I drove all the way from the pearl district for a pedicure. Tina was busy doing nails. She calls a gentleman, who might be her husband, to do my pedicure. He seemed very upset but sat down anyway. His phone rang in the beginning and he took the phone call while trying to get my pedicure started and he said to the person over the phone, "yeah I'll be there in 10-15 min". So immediately I knew that he was going to rush through this expensive pedicure. When the guy was "massaging" my legs, he was NOT massaging. He was rubbing my skin up and down and that's it. I asked him to massage harder so it could be a normal massage and so I could feel SOMETHING, but he ignored me. I asked 3 times. Every time he nodded his head but proceeded to look left and right and just hurry. Then i asked him to cut my toenails as SHORT AS POSSIBLE! They grow fast. He cut them and they weren't short. I asked if he can go shorter. He refused. Then I asked him to cut my big toes because my ingrown toenails were hurting. He said no because it will cut me. He said that is all he can do. Tina stopped the work she was doing on a client to come help him. She spoke to him in her language and made a gesture like "what is this", took the nail clipper and cut my toenails further. Finally, someone listened to me! I asked her to cut them as short as possible please. Then, she cut my ingrown toenails out and asked if they feel better after she cut them. I said yes thank you. This was the whole reason why I came. Then I told Tina, "I asked the guy to cut them and he refused." She said, "he was scared". Ummm why is he doing my nails if he is in a hurry and is scared to cut my toenails and doesn't know how to baseline give a leg and foot massage?! Complete waste of money. Don't go here. read more

My mom and I stopped in here on Easter because our normal salon was closed. I saw that they had some mixed Yelp reviews so we were somewhat apprehensive. We were greeted warmly and quickly whisked to the back of a beautiful salon for our Shellac manicures. Two younger guys sat down before us and I felt even more nervous as I had never received a manicure from a man. Both technicians were efficient and polite and one assisted me in coercing my mother into getting red nail polish. :) My technician was incredibly thorough, making sure there wasn't any polish on my skin and applied 3 coats to my nails. When I examined my nails afterwards I couldn't find a single flaw, anywhere! Here I am week later with flawless nails and having just received a text from my mother stating, "I think this is the best shellac of my life." I couldn't agree more. I started coming here shortly after they opened and have gone many times since. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! I get the gel manicures because I am a tom boy and are very hard on my nails..... VERY HARD ON MY NAILS. I have love each and every single manicure they have given me. The gel doesnt peel off my nails like it does when I go other places. They have lots of colors to choose from and are great. One time while I was in there..... there was shall we say a particularly difficult customer and they handled it grace that was befitting wings and a halo. Seriously this other woman was far out of line and treated them like 2nd class servants. ugh....I was very impressed they kept their cool. My nails are super short.... like I said I am a wee bit rough on them..... and while they joke about me growing my nails out even just the tiniest so they are easier to work with, they have never made me feel bad or given me a hard time lol. It took me going there several times before they would joke with me like that. I have not come in for a pedicure yet.... but will do so soon.... I recently moved to the area and tried this salon because it was in a convenient location. However, they did a terrible job on my nails. The first time I went, my shellac or gel nails (whichever you call them) started to peel off my thumb and forefinger in a week. Usually these type of nails last me 3 weeks with no chipping or peeling. I went back again, thinking it was something I did like gardening and moving some rocks around my pond. I do wear gloves, but hey the nails may have been exposed to more abuse than normal. The second time I had my nails done they only lasted one day before they started peeling off. All I was doing was dishes and normal house work. Not even scouring anything like a shower or toilet. The polish also had bubbles baked into them! When I had the second set of nails done, the daughter of the family who owns the shop did them. She was bragging about how easy it is to get their shellac nails off and some polishes are very hard to get off. Well this may or may not be true, but I never signed up to pay $25 for a one day manicure. The family also showed up and they all started visiting loudly. This is very unprofessional for such a lovely shop. I also thought it odd that they did not want me to use soap when washing my hands after the cuticle clipping. I have had my nails done for over 8 years and never been told to not use soap. Is this a normal thing? A further insult was that they only take cash. The daughter reassured me that it was only a dollar to use her ATM. But I should have known that my bank charges an additional $2.50 to use an out of network ATM. I went back to her and complained with pictures of my ruined nails and asked for a refund. She said that they do not do that and I should let her fix my nails. There is no way I will let them do my nails again! She refused to give a refund, so I told her that I would be rating her on the internet. Just notice how they do not reply to a complaint, and I hate to wish ill on anyone, but perhaps they may listen and figure out why their shop is not full of customers every day. read more
