I have been putting this off for a while, but I'm sad to say that I won't be going back to Allure. I have always been a walk in because I never know if I'll feel well on a given day and have the energy to get my nails done. I probably should have made an appointment for my last few visits, because I somehow always get Coco and she's just not good. She did a dip mani on me a few weeks ago - my first - that was so lumpy and thick that the cuticle edges kept catching on my hair and clothes. When I finally went back to have it removed and get a regular gel manicure instead, she rushed through my pedicure (no spa, just regular). While she was using the callus file she was looking around the salon and not at my heels, which she was sanding down to nothing. Barely any massage. The gel manicure was also rushed. She was using a worn file to shred the thick layers of dip powder - which she'd applied a few weeks ago - until my nail plates felt sore. You can see how the polish was applied. No cleaning up of the skin around my nails and a gap between the polish and cuticle. I didn't love the color (it definitely looked different on the swatch nail) but I just wanted to leave at that point. I walked out feeling like I wasted $40 plus tip. And now my nails are SO THIN. I'm sad because I really like Alice, Lily, June, and the gentleman who does the massages. I've been going here forever. I just can't keep wasting money on bad manicures. I also miss when they'd use a fresh file and buffer on each client, but now they're obviously reusing the ones they have into the ground. read more

I have had gel manicures and regular pedis a few times here. The last time I went the owner was giving me a massage while the tech was painting my nails. First, he seemed to be giving a more aggressive massage than usual making it difficult for tech to paint my nails. Then he was massaging my lower back and actually "massaged" my bottom. He has never done this before. It was gross. I tried to move and he moved his hand up. Also, the tech I had -I don't know her name- she is the youngest one -again did a gel manicure that chipped within 2 days. I thought it was a fluke the first time but now I know it is her. She also rushes as though there is another customer waiting when there isn't. I was hoping for a different tech that did a better job on another visit but no such luck. Very reasonable prices. I get SNS/dip and it costs me about 40. They last for forever, I've never had mine chip. The place is super clean and the owner is very friendly (he comes around offering massages while you get your nails done) Sometimes I go into salons and it hurts when they remove your old nail polish but this place is very gentle. We called on a Sunday morning and were able to get an appointment for four people that afternoon. When we walked in, they were ready for all of us and there were great color selections available on the wall. Three people in our group got pedicures, one person got a spa manicure, and another got a gel manicure. With each of those, they were detail oriented and kept checking to make sure each of us were satisfied with how things were going. One gentleman even walked over to each of us to offer us free massages while we were waiting for our nails to dry! It was wonderful, in a great location, and service was great. read more

Do not recommend, there was no prep work done and they use bus passes to take nails off. Overall the space was dirty and I did not get the shape of nails I wanted, it felt very rushed and the paint job was sloppy. This set was $65 without tip, personally I'd go somewhere else next time. read more

I went to Allure for my first pedicure since COVID. I felt safe and the pedicure and foot message were delightful. My temperature was taken as I came in. Everything was wiped down. I just walked out of the salon, something I never do, but got too frustrated to stay. I called about an hour before heading to the salon to make an appointment. They said that was fine and took my name. When I got there, they simply brought a bowl of acetone and told me to dip my hands, no loosening the first layer, no wrapping the nails. After about half an hour, a technician tossed me some cotton to remove my own nail polish. 45 minutes later, I got the polish, my mails are rough, the skin of my hands is peeling and I'm in pain, and they were just almost ready for me. I stopped in on a Saturday morning and was greeted right away. Joy took care of me. I got a basic mani/pedi. Total was $45. I was a little turned off at first by the upcharge for a few things, but everytime she offered a service, she did tell me the cost. When I was done and sitting under the fan dryer, I was offered a neck massage, by I'm guessing the owner. I felt a little uncomfortable, but it was nice. This has been my go to nail salon in the city for years, like since 2010. All of their techs are good-veryyy rarely I will get one that is not the best but they are decent enough-and their customer service cannot be matched. The owner of the store (male) will give you a free shoulder rub while your nails are drying and they do a paraffin dip for free with each manicure. Once in awhile you have to ask for the paraffin dip, but they are happy to do it once it's mentioned. They also do chair massages, amazing pedicures, and decent eyebrow waxes. They have a loyalty program that you get a point for every dollar you spend, you'd be surprised how quick the points add up when you're a regular like I am. There are several levels of redemption for services (ex: 100 points=free eyebrow wax, 300 points=free pedicure, etc.). A gel manicure is $29 which is higher compared to NJ, but is very competitively priced for the city and for the service you get each time you go. They also have specialty pedicures that are sort of pricey, but if you have the chance definitely try one at least once, they are incredibly relaxing and worth it. read more

I am one not to fuss over my nails and feel that manicures take forever... Until I found this place. My daughter and I sat down at 12:30pm and were finished and nails dry at 1:15pm. I work around the corner from this Nail Salon, which is now under new management. I have gone there in the past and been satisfied - I liked the cleanliness of the space, the attentiveness of the staff and the fact that I rarely had to wait for a manicure/pedicure. The quality of the work done (I have just done basic manicures, pedicures and eyebrow waxing) is completely acceptable and I would say above average. What has me give this place 5 stars is the attentiveness they have towards their customers. While other nail salons will do a token massage that barely feels like I am being touched, the staff here will actually do something that feels great and makes a difference. They take your bag for you, the have you check your color after the first nail to make sure you like it, they are focused on providing a great experience. I work long hours and appreciate the extra TLC during my mani pedis. This is now my "go to" nail salon. love them!!! read more

I saw the sign during my lunch break, free 10 minute foot massage with pedicure. It's hard for me to see the word "massage" and not give in. Very clean establishment, massage chairs that really work the muscle, a large selection of ESSIE and OPI nail polishes, and nail technicians who know what they are doing and really treat you special. I received paraffin for no charge with a standard manicure! They also offer a variety of spa pedicure specials. Not only did I get a 10 minute foot massage during my pedicure, I got a neck and shoulder massage with stretching while my nails dried! While there I noticed they also provide facials, waxing, and full hour massages. These people know how to run a good business. I will definitely be back! Tip in cash, but if you don't have cash they will add to your credit card whatever amount you would like and provide you with the cash to give to your tech. read more

Hi. I'm a dude. My fiancée and I were in Philly today getting her engagement ring resized and looking at wedding bands. We had some time to kill after lunch so she decided to get her nails done. Ooh! Fun! ... C-ya. After walking around the block for 15 minutes I came back and joined her inside. She was all aglow sitting in the chair. She showed me the bottle. It didn't do much for me. It looked like a tiny jar of paint but hey, I'm not exactly their target demographic. Anywho, she seemed to really enjoy herself. They dipped her hands in some really hot wax and then peeled it off. I guess they used lacquer or varnish or bleach maybe to get her old color off her nails and then put on a primer I think. While that dried, they gave her a massage! Wow. Does that happen everywhere? When her nails were actually painted, I was shocked. It's a very vibrant red. Malaga Wine, it's called. I do love red wine! Yeah. And they're very sexy, too. That's it. I stopped in for a quick polish change at 6:30 on a Monday (they apparently close at 7). They tried to talk me into a mani ($13) and the polish change was $10. The lady who did my nails (I honestly can't remember her name - she told me and I promtply forgot) seemed a bit disinterested and ready to call it a day. Fortunately she did a decent job on the nails. I also sprung for $15 (15 minutes) of chair massage. It wasn't bad - not a "real" Licensed Masasge Therapy massage, but it was relaxing and I needed it. I am hoping my polish lasts a long while. I am only on day 2 so I will let y'all know. Based on the other people's reviews I am not sure if I would gamble a pedicure here - but they do have about 5 pedi thrones and they looked "visually" clean. The salon is big and has clean, wood floors. A little more expensive than Nails by Chau or City Nails on the Square. Oh - and the offer OPI Axxium gel nails. Haven't had the courage to try this yet. not sure how much they charge - and I won;t get them done here anyway when I do take the plunge. read more

Would love to give these place five stars, but it just didn't last. I went to Allure based on the recommendation of a friend, and I happened to be in the area (my usual place is in 20th Street). I went after the lunch rush so it was quiet and I was taken for a gel manicure right away. As everyone before me stated, service was prompt, the free chair massage was fantastic as was the paraffin wax. All for only a few more dollars than my usual place! Bonus! However, the proof is in the pudding, as they say, and the manicure just didn't last. I think I got about 7-8 days out of the gel before the peeling began. I do get gel manicures often and I average a good 14 days before it starting chipping. It might be because of the way the gel was applied, three nails on one hand, dryer, a few on the other hand, dryer, back to the first hand, etc. But who am I to judge? I'm not a nail technician. So, unfortunately, I loved this place when I visited, but it just didn't last. It was clean, the staff was great, it just wasn't worth the money. read more

I get my nails groomed just about every week and started going to Allure last summer. I don't know why it's taken me so long to post this review--eh, em, *coiugh* chronic procrastinator!---but by now the owners and staff are like family. I adore Allure! The staff are consistently professionall and friendly while providing high-quality nail care. The owners are personable and make every effort to make sure I am satisfied with my service. I usually get gel manicures but every so often I'll opt for something exotic like a silk-wrap and they never fail to deliver on a high quality result. They are very hygenic, just as Nicole described. Taking care to wrap the foot bath in disposible plastic lining for each customer. They use new nail files and buffers for each customer and give them to you when you leave. I have so many at home, I just ask them to toss mine. For me the atmosphere and energy of a place are very important. Allure is a bright airy clean space filled with friendly people who actually like what they do. No wonder I love going there! read more

I think the saying goes fool me twice, shame on me. Shame indeed. I came back at the request of a friend and wasted another 30 + tip here. Again got a gel mani. The girl spent barely any time on my nails, filing them unevenly, not cutting the cuticles or excess skin, and barely letting them dry before putting the next coat on. The polish was streaky in parts and uneven, even after 3 coats of a nude OPI color that I frequently get. The next day there were small air bubbles showing up on at least 4 nails and 1 nail already peeled off in the corner. I went back disheartened and got the nail fixed. She buffered out the air bubbles on the other nails. 4 days later and the polish was peeling on every nail and another day later and my hands are bare. I'm so confused and frankly disgusted at how bad the gel manicures are here. I've gone many other places without having an issue. Kicking myself for wasting my time and money again. read more

I had a few hours to kill after a conference in Philadelphia, so I booked a pedicure at a random nail place. Little did I know the level of service I was about to enjoy. In my hometown of DC, nail places are kind of subpar, especially the cheapo ones I go to. So, that's what I was expecting. Instead, this place is clean, with autoclaved instruments and plastic linings in the footbaths. They had a special for a pedicure with massage, so I got that. So did my friend from the conference. My other friend just got the foot massage. For $1 per hour! Pretty good deal. The pedicure was standard, the foot massage was great. And they also massage your legs. We asked them to hurry because we needed to catch a train, and they were very accomodating. They let my friend who wasn't even gettting a pedicure sit in the chair the whole time, which was very nice. When I went to pay, I accidentally smudged my toe on my flip flop (sold for $2 at the counter, nice touch). The guy who did my pedicure noticed and got the polish and fixed it, as I was paying! That is great service! It's a little sparsely decorated, but if you're looking for some relief at a decent price, I'd definitely recommend it. read more

Great nails salon experience! Went on a Tuesday morning and they were able to take me right away. The salon is very clean, with several pedi and mani stations. There are tons colors to choose from. They even provide the new SNS powder nail service. The select of colors for that is awesome as well. I got the SNS nails and Micky was my manicurist. She was great! She took her time and pays attention to detail. My nails came out fabulous. I received a free paraffin treatment with my SNS nails purchase. I also got a chair massage (neck and upper back) from the gentleman while I got my nails done. I might skip it next time. It was a little awkward . I got a free bottle of water too. Customer service was excellent, everyone spoke when you walked in, very attentive, polite, and helpful when picking colors. Took one star away for the price. $35 for SNS nails is a little too pricey. $30 is the norm. I guess it's $5 for the "free" paraffin. lol. read more

I've been coming to this nail salon for about 4 years. Great. This place is one of cleanest nail salons in Philly. Period. There is never a wait, not loud at all and they do pretty good nails(I'm basic and usually just get a regular pedicure and a solid gel manicure) which looks good for 2-3weeks without chipping. The owner is superrrrrr nice! The price was pretty reasonable about $55 for both pedi and gel manicure including a tip. Today 07/13/2020 my total was $65 not including a tip. It may be the covid effect. I'm unsure. But, the prices did change. Going to continue going here. As of now there are no walk ins due to covid, but you can call and make an appointment. read more

I came here on the advice of a friend. It's clean and the service is semi friendly... the technician who did my nails spoke no English. The pedicure was a nice treat and the massage was good... but that's where the good reviews end. I left with a jagged and spotty gel manicure, at the end when I pointed out my awful nails they offered to spot fix it. As in color in the bald spots. I refused because I rather have a spotty manicure rather than a kindergarten arts and kraft project. Alas the perfect Philly manicure still alludes me... I will not be back anytime soon.
