I came here in a pinch and I was very disappointed with the service I received. The woman who did my nails was extremely rough and harsh. At one point, I became vocal and told her that she was hurting me. She didn't even use tools to clean up some of the polish, but instead used her sharp pointy nail Worst of all, it hasn't even been 2 weeks and half my nails have come off. I normally go to City Nails because it is near my office but always get nervous going there because they don't seem that clean (doesn't look like they clean their tools frequently). I chose to go here because I saw Google reviews saying they used new packages of tools for everyone. It was very reasonably priced and the girl who did my nails did not rush to get them done which I appreciated. Got a gel Mani and regular pedi here today. I was a walk in but they did accommodate me and I have to say my gel Mani is one of the best ones I have gotten in a while. My technician was careful to ensure that none of the Polish smudged or got anywhere but my nails. They look great and I am very happy with them. I arrived around 1:30 p.m. and was seated right away after I picked my nail polish for a manicure. I am going on a trip and have minimum time so I went during my lunch break. There is not a wide variety of polish colors and they do look a bit old. But my finger nails do look amazing! The manicure was only $12, which is absolutely reasonable. The odd thing was that the lady that did my nails only coded my nails twice on my left hand and coded my nails once on my right hand. I did not say anything because I am not the type to get into controversy because the process was cheep and fast. Don't believe the negative reviews!!!! I had an amazing experience today, after work around 5:30, my friend and I got mani pedis done. The techs were friendly and gentle. I am not usually a nail clippers girl, but I was totally comfortable in the chair. My friend got her pedi finished first, and when she left her seat, an attendant IMMEDIATELY started to clean the foot spa!! Maybe because they were not that busy at the end of the day, but it was very reassuring to know they were cleaned! They gave us massages, hot towels, the works, and we were both out in under an hour! DONT DO IT. NO CONVENIENCE IS WORTH IT. YOUVE BEEN WARNED. I've never had a worse experience of my entire life. This was the most PAINFUL and unpleasant nail experience. I came in to take my tips and dip powder set off. Instead of using an electric file and soaking my set off, she took a tip, wedged it under my polish/tips then forcefully plied the fake nails off my real nails. She literally peeled my tips and polish off -- INSANE. I real nails were left SO brittle and thin. At one point she mistook my real nails are fake nails and DUG A TIP INTO MY NAIL BED. Imagine someone taking a pin and shoving it under your nail. Also with the force that she used to take my polish set off, it felt like breaking all 10 acrylics -- if you've ever broken a nail; you'd know how painful my exp was. After she was done taking the polish off with my nails so brittle and thin, she NOW took an electric file that I've been begging her to use and filed my real nails to oblivion. read more

Horrible experience. Technician globbed way too much acrylic onto the nail resulting in these huge, uneven and incredibly thick nails. This also made the paste cover some of my skin on each side, causing burning and stinging. My nail beds are no where near as big as they appear in this photo. I expressed my concerns and asked my technician three separate times to thin the nails out and shape them to be slimmer. As you can see they didn't get much better, and in the process she caught skin on every single one of my nails rubbing them raw and making them bleed. And I noticed that equipment used on my bloody fingers was not cleaned afterwards. Such a waste of money and time, I honestly could have done a better job myself. read more

There are no bells and whistles here though, so if you're looking to have your arms massaged to the gils, look elsewhere. At JFK, you'll be in and out in about 20 minutes, which most likely fits the clientele in this location. One thing I noticed is their nail color selections weren't that great. Every visit to JFK nails has left me totally satisfied. Very nice, attentive staff, clean place, fume-free, and quick. I've never made an appointment, and I've always been attended to immediately. You can't beat a $25 mani/pedi. Though do realize, this is a standard pedicure, not a spa pedicure. You get a sea salt soak, callous softener, a scrub and a foot file, toe nail filing, cuticle oil/trim, paint, and a bit of a foot/leg massage. Which is pretty great for the price. They do extremely good cuticle work on your toes, but if your feet need some intensive labor (cheese grater style), you're going to need to upgrade. $25 isn't going to cover de-hoofing. Their polish selection is great (OPI and Essie), and their gel selection is pretty good. They use CND shellac polish, pre-bonder, bonder, and topcoat -- GREAT brand. So far, I've never had any bad experiences in the manicure department, either -- no ragged cuticles or sloppy paint jobs. With every salon, you're bound to get a girl having an off-day at some point, but I wouldn't say that's any reflection on this establishment. My gel manicures here have always lasted three weeks -- and would have lasted longer -- my nails have always grown out before the polish even began to chip. My regular manicures last at least a week. I'd like to start by saying I've never written a yelp review. This review is exclusively for Ara and not reflective of the overall establishment. Ara is the best nail technician I've seen in the 4 years I lived in Philadelphia. I'm a dentist so I work with/ wash my hands constantly. My hands were an absolute mess, but Ara still worked her magic on a less than ideal canvas. - Cleanliness: I was satisfied with the cleanliness of the establishment. The instruments come in sterile pouches and I didn't notice her using common use jars. The foot massagers are the only thing I noticed that they would have extreme difficulty thoroughly cleaning due to its complex shape (but who knows... they could have a system to tackle this). -Attention to detail: Your nails will be shaped perfectly and your cuticles will be trimmed properly. Ara will make sure your gel polish doesn't get caught on any part of your cuticle. My manicures lasted longer with her than with anyone else because of this. She takes her time and gives you her full attention. -Polish selection: Moderate variety of colors -Bonus: She uses LED lighting instead of UV which I greatly appreciated. -Eyebrows: She also does eyebrows!!! She'll spend a ton of time tweezing and trimming until they're perfect. Quite honestly, my brows still haven't looked as good as when she did them. For those of you skeptical about letting a nail technician touch your eyebrows, give her a try. -Price: Standard and worth it. - Additional notes: This is only for standard gel manicures without design. If you like something more complex, I'd ask her about it. She's very honest about her skill set. I moved from Philadelphia a few months ago. I have been here twice and they do a hell of a good job. I had a spa pedi & mani done in a hour and cost me 25 bucks. There Polish lasted on my hands for over 9 days. I am a mother of 2 so my hands are always washing and cleaning and I was amazed that my nail polish did not chip after 2 days. The girls are all nice and friendly and they dont rush on you. They take there time and get the job done right. I like to do my own nails because I'm never happy with the way they shape my nails and they never seem to care about my cuticules. I always felt that it was a waste of my money to go to a nail salon because I know that I can do better then they can cause they always rush. But with this place I was very satisfide. I stop here when I'm on a time crunch - it's close to work and I can fix a chip in my gel manicure or get a pedicure. Sometimes it's quick and looks great but other times the gel peels in less than a week and it takes over an hour for a simple gel manicure or pedicure - it's almost impossible to get both in a realistic timeframe. Not all the technicians here know how to do powder dip nails. I've had them done at other salons and never had a problem. But here, she put the top coat on, it was sticky and discolored. I pointed it out, she re-applied the top coat and tried to blame it on me, saying my nails were wet and I touched them? They also try to charge $5.00 for a special top coat. Other salons do not charge for powder dip top coat. Anyway, she proceeded to fix them. Then I left, by the time I got back to my office, they were discolored from the top coat again. It looked like dried, flaky Elmer's glue on top of color! I went back the next day and sensed an attitude because I wanted them fixed again. Someone else then did them and then they looked better, so I know I wasn't wrong. Needless to say, they all fell off after two weeks, so I won't be going back here.
