At first it wasn't noticeable because there were only about 2 tables when we arrived but as the night progressed and the bar got busier, we had to wait for extended amounts of time for her to return to our table. We shared the truffle tots as an appetizer and they were delicious and perfect fried. I got the chicken Cesar wrap for my meal. Overall it was good, nothing special and honestly it was pretty bizarre to have croutons in a wrap. The fries were good but nothing beat those tots. We had a credit from The hotel to dine and our waitress once she learned this got immediately defensive and basically told us in many ways that we were lying and couldn't use the credit. After much back & forth with her she finally got in touch with management and changed her tune when she returned to our table to tell us she was mistaken and it was taken care of. Definitely not appropriate customer service at all on her part. We paid the reminder of our checks, tipped on the total minus our credit and couldn't get out of there fast enough.

The food, the cocktails, the service and the ambiance are all excellent. My ONLY criticism is sometimes the music can be a little too loud for conversation, but this isn't always so. I'm a cocktail geek and have made multiple trips to The Aviary in Chicago. Believe me, The Aviary has nothing on the Tanto bar program. Cocktails are unique, creative, and delicious. Food was amazing, whether omakase or á la carte. Staff is attentive, fun and playful. Chuck and Nick anchor the beverage service while Tony and Ari will make you feel at home. If you are lucky you may get a visit from Chef Cody. Standout drinks: #1 is Seoul Food. Think the savoriness of a Bloody Mary but without tomatoes. Hard to describe but don't miss it! Other highlights include Opposite Day, Memory in Bloom, and Three Way. Season of Again pairs beautifully with the oysters. I hate to say I have a favorite restaurant, because I choose different places for differing needs, but Tanto has won my heart and tastebuds.

The hostess was pleasant when arriving and presented herself with exceptional sleek style. Someone brought me a palate cleanser drink which was rhubarb and lemongrass water. It was smooth and refreshing. The server guided me through the cocktail menu which was an exploration all its very own. I choose the cocktail called Opposite Day- Japanese whiskey, sweet Sauvignon Blanc, salted wine and roasted beets- twist on a whiskey sour but flipped! Oysters were light and fresh and the juice in the shell was precision clean. It really pops the flavors of the oyster. Yellowtail jalapeño handroll- it is designed to be eaten similar to a taco. The yellowtail was superbly fresh, the jalapeno was a mild touch to accompany the dish and didn't try to be the star. and the homemade soy sauce didn't over power the fish. Duck leg finished with a Szechuan spice and finished a pear au jus. The duck fell off the bone and was bursting with a complex blend of elegant flavors. As you check is presented they served you the tea of the day which was Hibiscus citrus Japanese tea in the most sophisticated teapot sitting on Japanese bamboo, which was a nice touch in the meal Upbeat modern music vibe Helpful, friendly weight staff that explains every item in detail as you order it, and when it brought to the table.

On one visit, I approached the bar with wet hands and my arms outstretched because there were no paper towels in the women's restroom. I asked for a paper towel. The kava-tender told me to use a drink napkin instead. I politely explained that there were no paper towels in the restroom and asked again. Rather than handing me the paper towel roll that was sitting immediately beside her behind the bar, she picked it up, walked past me, carried it across the room, and restocked the restroom while I stood there with wet hands waiting. At no point did she offer me a single paper towel, despite my asking twice. This experience, combined with similar dismissive interactions on other visits, made me feel genuinely unwelcome. Based on my experiences, I cannot recommend this lounge. UPDATE -- August 12, 2026: Lowering my review from 2 stars to 1 star. I decided to give Heights Cava Lounge another chance today and unfortunately had yet another negative experience with the service. For context, my spouse and I are both attorneys, and we occasionally come here to sit and work. While we may stay for an extended period of time, we consistently order throughout our stay and tip well. We have never treated this establishment as a free workspace or occupied a table for hours without patronizing the business. Today, I came in with my spouse and business partner to get some work done. Almost immediately after we sat down, the bartender came over and told us that we needed to purchase something. My spouse ordered a hookah, which is a shared item for the table. The bartender then specifically looked at me and told me that I also needed to individually purchase something. At that point, I left. The interaction was particularly strange because the establishment was not crowded. We were not occupying a table that another customer needed, there was no wait for seating, and our table had already made a purchase. Had there been a clearly communicated per-person minimum purchase policy, that would be one thing. Instead, the way this was handled felt unnecessarily confrontational and directed specifically at me. This is also not an isolated experience. I originally gave this establishment two stars because the service has repeatedly been rude and unwelcoming despite the fact that we are paying customers who consistently order and tip well. I cannot speak to anyone's motivation, but after multiple visits and multiple negative interactions, today's experience genuinely felt targeted. I don't know why I consistently have this type of experience with the customer service here, but at this point the pattern is difficult to ignore. I have given this establishment multiple opportunities because I genuinely wanted to like it. Unfortunately, the customer service continues to be the reason I don't. My original two-star review is now one star.
