I absolutely love the Almaden Pet Salon! I had an appointment first for my dog Cara and they did such a wonderful job that I brought Mackey here today. Both of my dogs were groomed exactly how I wanted with a summertime haircut. The thing I really liked was that they have next day appointments with drop off times between 7:30 AM and 9 AM. In a few hours your pet is finished! Both of my dogs got the works: bath, haircut, nail, trim, and blow dry. My younger dog, Mackey, needed his glands expressed, and they mentioned that they really had to work on that because his glands were so full! Yuck! Lol They went above and beyond my expectations for sure! Previously, I was going to Petco. It was always hard to get an appointment there along with cancellations at the last minute. Almaden Pet Salon is a lot more user-friendly. Everyone there is super nice and it's a great environment for my dogs. I am so happy that I found this place! Highly recommend! read more

We have an adorable 6-month-old cocker who is nervous at groomers. It is reasonable and expected -he is only a puppy! We took him to Dang Diggity Dog organic pet grooming because they have a special pappy grooming introduction package. We waited 10 days for an appointment. They called us 2 hours after dropping him off, saying he doesn't like grooming. "Not in an aggressive way, he just wants to play with the clipper. " What!!! They recommended sedation. Then we went to Pet Smart and they said they do not spend extra time with puppies - or try. In other words, they don't have time to deal with puppies. Finally, I went to Almaden Per Salon. The owner listened to my concerns and said to bring him in the next day without sedation. The session was done in 4 hours and Duke came back home with a new haircut and groomed just like we wanted. I am so happy. Highly recommended. The care was tailored to a "ball of energy". =) read more

Brought my beautiful golden retriever in for a bath and trim and I could not be more angry with the results. They literally completely SHAVED her belly like she went in for spay surgery. They blunt cut the hair at the end of her ears in a way that resembles a bowl cut. They chopped her tail way too short. The trim is completely uneven. I could've did a better job myself. I will never ever ever bring my dog here again. Stay away. read more

We have been dropping our dogs off here for over 10 years. Unfortunately now I can never recommend this groomer to anyone. We dropped off our three dogs (one being over ten years old) after calling ahead to ensure all three dogs could be cared for until a set pick up time. No dogs were given water or properly cared for the entire time they were there. The staff roughly pushed our dogs into crates and referred to them by the wrong name multiple times. Our elderly dog had hairs pulled from his tail leaving a bald patch and some small nicks along his back. The owner has always been very kind however her poor picks of staff has led this to be a very poor environment for any dog. read more

This place SLAYED my dog's haircut. I am not lying when I say he has never looked better!! I brought him in before 9 on a Saturday and had him back before 3. Shampoo, blow dry, hair cut and brushing him all out came out to around $95 (about what i expected for my fat ass dog) plus a 20% tip. This place is great - I've been taking my pets here since about 2005. I have 2 Pomeranians and a lab and they always come back looking AMAZING. Perfectly trimmed, hair perfectly brushed out, smelling nice - never too perfume-y. One of the Poms can be difficult to work with (I'm pretty sure she's missing a chromosome somewhere...) and she does great with her! I would recommend this place to anyone. Never too expensive either. Yeah the facility isn't the nicest but I've been to nice facilities that do a crappy job - so all that matters to me is that my pets come back looking beautiful. I have been bringing my two small male mutts to Annie for the past few years. The older one, Toby, HATES having his nails trimmed. When I used to take him to our previous groomer, we would get close to the door and he would turn around and try to run. He is not afraid of Annie, and both dogs look and smell wonderful every time. It's easy to call and make an appointment (usually the next day). I drop off the dogs on my way to work, grab a decaf Cappucino and muffin next door at Almaden Roasting Company. When the boys are ready, Annie calls my husband to pick them up. Annie follows my instructions and doesn't shave the boys, just neatly trims their paws, ears and tail area. Fair prices. read more

Dropped my Corgi Ellis off for a bath at 9am and he was ready by noon! I was in an interview and wasn't able to pick him up until 2:30. They were so kind and told me not to rush. The older lady is a sweetheart and the husband and wife are very kind. They said that Ellis was great and that he played with their daughters all day. This is definitely my new "go to" for Ellis. Such a blessing to find them! I've been going to a pricier place further away, for approx. 35 years (3 poodles). They weren't bad, but OMG now that I have a longer-haired Havanese they didn't really know what to do with her! Almaden Pet Salon's employees know exactly how to cut her, they remove mats expertly and will work to execute your instructions to the letter. They even discount their already reasonable price based on the amount of work they have to do on your dog!!! I just took my 2 dogs to Almaden Pet salon for a face feet and tail trim that normally costs $40 I come to pick them up and My male dog is shaved down to no hair and the girl looks like she wasn't groomed at all. I ask what happened and she said I don't know and oh by the way we raised our prices... so what would normally be $80 cost me $115 and my dog has no fur! I can barely type this I'm so angry. Took our dog here because it was recommended by a good friend of mine. The first few times they did a great job. The last time we took our shih tzu to this place was actually the last time. I don't know if the groomer was having a bad day and took it out on our dog, but when we picked him up, he was almost bald. His hair was cut down to the skin that it was irritating him. Our poor dog couldn't sleep and we lost sleep because of that. Never will recommend this place to anyone. If you want to take that risk....you have been warned. read more

We have been taking our Labrador to APS for five years since he was a puppy. He is always happy to go in and every time we pick him up he is peacefully waiting in his kennel. They always do a great job trimming his nails, cleaning his ears, and thoroughly brushing all the loose hair out. They are very familiar with my dog and it seems with every dog that is in their shop because every time I come by, all the dogs being groomed or those waiting in the kennels seem very calm and happy to be there - or I suspect they choose their clients carefully. It was time for Lucy to get a bath because she was smelling like Fritos all over. And I was happy that this place was just a straight shot from my house the only place in Alamden Valley for a pet salon! I brought her in and she was a little nervous when they took her back to the bathing room but when I came back to pick her up she was super clean, fluffy, soft, and didn't smell like Fritos anymore!!! Anne did a fantastic job on her, she is so good with her and I love that this place doesn't discriminate against big dogs. A lot of places are all about the little dogs but my girl is pretty big at 85 lbs. and Launderpet caters to all breeds! Gotta love that. Anne is the BEST groomer I've ever come across. I brought our 60+ lb Rhodesian Ridgeback mix here for her first "official" grooming ever after calling a few places. I needed someplace inexpensive, thorough, and able to book a last-minute appointment (called Friday for a Saturday grooming). Molly just needed the basic bath which comes with brushing, ear cleaning & hair plucking, nail trim, and anal gland expression. All that for $45. I would give this place 5 stars, but I have to say I was a bit shocked by how "bare bones" this place is. It's located in a strip mall shopping center and is essentially one large room lined with about 20-30 kennels of various sizes against the 2 walls. The bath is in the back with the main grooming tables in the front. Definitely not the cleanest or most posh place and I was a little taken aback given it was the first time I had ever been to a groomers (maybe they all look like this?). There's something very sad about leaving your dog all day in a kennel. BUT I have to say when we picked Molly up about 5.5 hrs later (they call when the dog's ready), she looked *amazing*. First, she looked like she had gotten a haircut, but no, she was just missing all the HAIR that was meticulously brushed out (Molly sheds hair if you just brush past her). The little hair that was trimmed was around her butt and her paws. Since she didn't need a nail trim, I asked for a teeth cleaning instead, which also looked amazing. She smelled good and clean, but not too perfumey which was perfect. And the woman who works there is very nice and seemed like a soothing dog person. When I arrived to pick up Molly, she was in the middle of grooming another dog who was calmly standing on the table while she cut his hair. Overall, great value! Definitely more "mom and pop" which I liked. read more
