I recently visited Dr. Zhao from Almond Dental Care for the first time because I felt a toothache when chewing. Dr. Zhao was very accommodating in scheduling my appointment which is important to me since I have a baby to take care of. I had not seen a dentist for a long time, so when she found several more cavities during the detailed check up I was not surprised. But instead of scheduling me for followup visits Dr. Zhao was able to do the entire work efficiently in one visit. I liked that I could not even feel the needle from the numbing and I cannot feel any of the fillings she placed. I highly recommend Dr. Zhao and will see her again in the future. read more

Sketchy place. They are on the list of taking medical patient. As soon as they learn that you are medical patient, they avoid accepting patient by saying either they are busy or they will call you back. Upon question when will be the appropriate time to call, they give you off business hours. Be careful. read more

Yet another bad experience with this place!!!!! Took Dr. Zhao's advice to go see another dentist about a tooth she says has a cavity. Called for my medical records which she wanted to charge me $40.00 for (ridiculous in my opinion- those records are my right!) after going back and forth with her she said she'd charge me $20.00- called to give her my card the next day and all she could do is ask me to take my first review down and if it was fare for a one star review (why would I take down my review? I had a bad experience and am allowed to share)- I let her know I was on my break at work and needed her to take my card number- STILL she went on about me taking down my review. I continued to tell her I'M ONLY AUTHORIZING $20! Checked my bank a couple hours later and of course she charged me $40.00 so I had to call my bank and take care of it (such a pain in the butt). She said it didn't work the first time she charged it but obviously it did and I needed up being out $40 until my bank reversed the charge. Went to a different dentist and he said there is NOTHING WRONG with my tooth. Looked over the x-rays, took new x-rays, looked and poked at the tooth and NOTHING! IN MY OPINION this lady is trying to get money for teeth that are already FINE. Just beware and get second opinions before doing anything to your teeth! read more

I highly recommend Almond Dental Care!! If I could give more than 5 stars I would! I began seeing Dr. Zhao about 7 months ago after switching to Almond Dental Care because they offer Sat. hours, and my son is currently a patient. I had just seen my dentist 4 months prior and was told everything was fine & I had a few old cavities & a crown that would need to be replaced. I had a checkup with Dr. Zhao, and through an exam & x-rays she discovered that there was a huge cavity under my current crown , and food had been getting under/inside my crown for a long period of time.I was horrified because how could my past dentist miss this?!? Gross!! & very disappointing Thank God I found Dr. Zhao!! Dr. Zhao has an excellent eye to catch this, and. Im in disbelief that I went years with this problem and my other dentist didn't see this from my xrays. Dr. Zhao is excellent at knowing how my Delta dental coverage works, and working with my insurance to get the maximum coverage was awesome I went in yesterday to get my crown removed to see what could be done. Dr. Zhao knows her stuff! She is informative and kept me in the loop every step of the way. The damage to my upper back tooth was upsetting . I couldn't believe my past dentist hadn't caught this problem. I am a huge believer of preventative health, so I brush regularly, floss most of the time, and intend to keep all my teeth hopefully as I get older. Dr.Zhao has a calm, quiet, diligent and friendly demeanor, and I am SO thankful & appreciative that she did everything she could to get my poor tooth to a place where hopefully I wont have to get a root control. I told her I was anxious, and Dr.Zhao helped me stay chill by playing some peaceful music, and talking with me about what she was doing as she went through the procedures. She showed me the xrays and we talked extensively about where to go from there. She is diligent , highly skilled and Im SO thankful to have found her because thanks to her, I hopefully will not lose the tooth. When she numbed the area I couldnt even feel it ! Thats NEVER happened in my 54 years! I am also thankful that she offers Sat hours because I work FT during the week and its hard to take time off. Being able to schedule for a Sat helps me take good care of my teeth and stress free. Dr zhao is an amazing dentist. I had a root canal done and crown put in. It looks so amazing she was very friendly and helpful with the whole process. I also had a cleaning done and she did an amazing job. I was really insecure about my teeth and she cleaned every stain off. She was very honest hard working and friendly. Best dentist I have met so far! I knew Holly - the dentist through facebook because of our special needs kids. She has been taking less patients for family reason. Sorry for the long story on why I went to Almond Dental Care. My previous dentist did a crown on my tooth over 2 years ago and had on and off pain since the crown was placed. I had to hold my dental work for over a year because of the pandemic. This year, my dentist (the one who did crown on my tooth) sent me to a specialist because of the root infection on that tooth with crown. I suspected that she damaged my tooth when she put on the crown since she had to trim the tooth to install the crown. This tooth had a tiny chip from a childhood accident and never had problem for over 25 years until I decided to put a crown on it. I was quite suspicious with her referral and the specialist is not within my dental insurance network anyway. So I went to Almond Dental Care since I can trust Holly as a friend for a second opinion. Quickly, I had an appointment two days later after I messaged her. She explained to me the situation of my tooth thoroughly along with the x ray pictures and told me that a root canal is absolutely necessary for stopping the infection. She told me that I should not need a local anesthesia because the nerves of that tooth are dead already. I was nervous but it turned out feeling even less than getting my teeth routine cleaned. She explained to me on each step taken throughout the entire procedure. It really comforts patients very much when they knew what is going to be done ahead of time. At least this approach works great with me. The pain improved already on the same day when the root canal was done. And all the pain and swallen went away completely within 4 to 5 days, shorter than the 1-2 weeks time she told me. I am very pleased with her work and will switch to her in the future. read more

My family and I have been going to Almond dental care since I was a child. Dr. Zhao is a talented and excellent dentist at an affordable price. She's always friendly and is a pleasure to talk to. I had several cavities that weren't detected by my previous dentist, but Dr. Zhao was able to identify and take care of them quickly with minimal discomfort. Had my first visit today for getting a cleaning and tooth filling. I like the staff, particularly the dental assistant Vanessa who was really friendly and nice. Also you may get intimidated by Dr. Ramirez at first but he's just really assertive on what he knows about his craft. He did a better job on doing a tooth filling than my previous dentist did who left some decays which Dr. Ramirez scraped off and i'm completely satisfied with the results. read more

I've had the best experiences at Almond Dental. Dr Ramirez repaired and replaced some old work that was done very poorly. So gentle, very very good workmanship. He is also very handson in caring for the patient. Personally adding vaseline to my lips continuously, pouring my rinse himself and giving me Tylenol right before I left to prevent any pain later. Went in to just make a new patent appointment for myself and my kids. As I made my kids appointments there was a no show so I was able to be seen today. Even though im 6 months pregnant and they couldnt crown my tooth today I still had a great visit. The Secretary is so sweet and very helpful the assistance was great made me comfortable and made sure I understood the process for after I have the baby. The doctor apologized for not being able to help like it was his fault that im pregnant lol but he told me to come in as soon as the baby is born we can get my teeth fixed. Dr Ramirez is an angel! He is very personable, kind, and understanding of people my age who have dental horror stories from 1960-1980. I now have found a dentist where I don't cry as soon as I sit in his chair! Because of no dental insurance, I haven't been to the dentist much in the last 5 years. I am writing to acknowledge Almond Dental Care and Dr. Zhao. I had been going to Dr. Ramirez at Almond Dental for almost 30 years. Change is sometimes hard, but I have found Dr. Zhao to be a wonderful dentist. She is very gentle and doesn't try to sell unnecessary services or over charge. She is honest and compassionate. I have always had positive experiences with her, but this week she was extraordinary and went above and beyond for me and my brother and I'll always be grateful to her. I called her under duress yesterday afternoon, as my brother was in alot of pain and his face was swelling, he clearly had an infected tooth. We could not find a dentist to see him any sooner than 4 days. He would have had to go to the hospital ER, if I couldn't find a DDS to see him on an urgent basis. I decided to call Dr. Zhao who answered the phone herself. I asked her if she would consider helping my brother. She responded with great empathy and said of course bring him here at 4:30 pm and if you're late don't worry I will wait for you. Dr. Zhao stayed late after her closing time to work on my brother. I won't get into the details of his dental crisis but he left so relieved knowing that Dr. Zhao had given him the treatment he urgently needed. I expected that it would be a large bill, but she did all of this emergency work, after hours and charged a very modest fee. As a coincidence my own check up was today with Dr. Zhao and again I had a very positive experience with her and I was happy to be able to tell her today as well as here on YELP how much I appreciate her and her compassionate care. I came in with clicking noise on my lower left jaw. I went to the urgent Care in San Ramon for them to check my problem. The doctor said to see my dentist. I went to see Dr. Ramirez and found out that it was a TMJ (temporo-mandibular joint)problem. He fixed the problem by readjusting the jaw by jaw exercises. I went home and followed the instructions of Dr. Ramirez. I came back today for a follow up visit, and I was surprised that the clicking sound disappeared and felt better! I would give Dr. Ramirez and staff a 5 star rating in solving my jaw problem! I would highly recommend this office! read more

I would never in a million years return to this office or refer anyone to Dr. Ramirez. The whole experience was a mess. The front desk was on the phone when I came in and she did not acknowledge the fact that I was there until she hung up the phone. the assistant was literally running back and forth trying to get the room and I readyl brought me in taking my xrays then asked if I wanted a magazine that the doctor would be a few minutes. A few minutes is NOT how long I sat there! I asked the assistant what was going on? she said sorry hell be right in he was on an important call but I got up and went to the restroom passing his office he was sitting there playing on facebook!! Definitely not on the phone! He has poor communication skills his grammar if completely off he sounded like he had no idea what he was talking about he was just trying to say big words to seem intelligent. He almost put his bare hands in my mouth before his girl had to tell him to put gloves on! GROSS!! I let him proceed with a needed filling on a back molar and whatever material he used on my tooth (which was more expensive route because its supposed to look like your real tooth) the color was completely different and it did'nt look like a my tooth anymore it looked like a crater hit my tooth. Just a smooth discolored indention no grooves like a real tooth or anything. My wife said when she went he was yelling at his assistant so loud the whole office could hear. He was rude to her and made her even more uncomfortable on top of her being scared. He was "huffing and puffing" and tapping his foot being very impatient and rude. read more

I've been to this facility to get my root canal done. This place is so bad, they don't communicate with you on what they're doing to your teeth. It took them 2 months to get my root canal done. Each time I go back, the doctor would tell me we're not going to finish the root canal today or I am going drill a big hole in your tooth and fill the hole with cotton for a week or two. Also, they did not tell me that my insurance won't cover the root canal because I already had one done three years ago. Apparently my insurance only covers one root canal every five years. This dental facility didn't bother to call the insurance prior to my procedure. After I paid for my out of pocket payments and the procedure, I got a bill with no explanation to what is for and when I asked them why they didn't tell me this prior and it is their job to call the insurance to find out, they couldn't give me an answer. I don't mind paying, but do your job and the entire staffs need to take a communication course and learn how to communicate with their patients. read more

I had broken a tooth. I know I should have come in sooner. I know that it had to be extracted but the dentist insisted on lecturing me about how it was my fault that my tooth is broken. He said "you have lead yourself to this...your tooth is like your car. You have to change your oil and care for it or else your car will break and fail. Like you have done here." I have had teeth issues all my life, so it isn't lack of trying. He went on and on about how much it would cost and how I would just have to figure it out. The dentist continued to lecture until I was literally in tears. I left and cried in my car. I never want to see or speak of Almond Dental. Now they send me unwanted text messages telling me to come in for a check up. Never! I went over to Sun Flower dental, the Dentist was amazing. She knew that your mouth is personal, and had 20xs the bedside manner that Almond Dental dentist did. read more

Went in for a routine cleaning.....horrible experience! The dentist assistant was extremely rude. During the X-ray She handled supplies without gloves or washing her hands, and advised me to "bite down". When I asked her to ' please get me another one your hands aren't sanitary' , she rolled her eyes with an attitude....and grabbed another WITH OUT GLOVES OR WASHING HER HANDS!!!! The dentist....Ramirez was rude and very short. I felt uncomfortable asking questions. The cleaning was rushed, if I hadn't asked I never would've known I had cavities. When I left my teeth DID NOT FEEL CLEAN! In fact I had a piece of food hanging from one of my teeth. My teeth felt cleaner the morning before I went to Dr. Ramirez. A waste of time gas and money...now I have to get another cleaning and filling else where!! I do not recommend the dental office!!!! read more
