Came in on a Monday night looking for last minute stuff for a low-key Bachelor viewing party! Very happy with the selection at Almor. Ahhh, wine stores. I do adore them, especially when their selection runs the gamut from cheap and easy to put a ring on my finger. This store is definitely one of those. In it you will find reasonably priced Sauv Blancs and Cabs, all the way to high-priced luxuries in the form of the dark bottled grape. Their prices are a little higher than some stores, but they make up for it in selection and advice. Yes, the guys working here know their stuff and will suggest some good ones if asked. Given the location and the KFC adjacentness, well, I would be a a-hole if I didn't give them 5 stars and I'm never an a-hole ;) read more

The introduction came when on one of my many visits to Zankou, I popped in here to check it out. I was very impressed! The have a great selection and range of various price points, most of which are affordable. They also have some great little speciality items like artisan chocolate, beautifully made greeting cards and gourmet snacks. Not the mention the cutest litlte mascot Chihauhau named Oliver. The few times I've been in here they have been very helpful and friendly. Excellent customer service and I I love supporting small business like this one. Admittedly, I'm a BevMo shopper where I get a big bang for my buck, but I will happily support Almor. My wine racks are usually well stocked, but if I ever find myself short, knowing they deliver for anything over $20 is a tremendous draw. I also love their darling set up of bottle arranged in wine crates. I have a mild obsession with wine crates. I have several in my house that contain anything from corks to dog toys. I was happy with my purchase of a white I never tried that the clerk suggested I try and I'll be back for more whether I'm at Zankou or not. Cheers to you, Almor! read more

I was at the gas station at the corner and decided to walk over to Almor to see what bourbons they had. I must admit, I went straight for what I consider to be the prize, eying at the selection behind the counter. I could see the employees thinking I was a bit strange, especially after I made my bourbon request known. Why, as a Kentuckian, I have to go to California to find rare bourbons, I'm not quite sure. But they have quite a great selection of rare bourbons at reasonable prices. I was short on my available luggage space, so I only purchased the one bourbon that I'd tried before. But when I got home, I was wishing that that I'd made room in my luggage and purchased two other of the rare options. As a long shot I called and asked if the two bottles that I wanted were still available and shipable. Mary called me back with the shipping rate and I was sipping it a week or so later. This place will certainly be on my list of places to head back to when I'm in the Hollywood area. read more

I walked in 10 minutes to close and confessed that I was practically a virgin to white wines. I had always thought them impossibly sweet but just recently had my interest piqued after tasting a friend's nomalicious glass but I couldn't quite name it and so could they recommend something for me to try? The guys were really down to earth and super nice! They collaborated with one of them contributing an "oaky, buttery" reference that I immediately brightened up at (Mmmm oak... mmmm butter!) and then the other volunteering a brand selection. The price was not bad at all, considering where you're getting it and at 11:50p.m and especially after opening and imbibing a perfectly satisfying, new fan-favorite Chardonnay! After having run all over Sunset to 6 different liquor stores and groceries, looking for Creme de Cassis, I walked into Almor and asked them if they had it. The woman who answered me, who turned out to be the owner, said, "Of course! Let's talk about Creme de Cassis" and she proceeded to explain the quality levels of the various kinds they had, all the way to French imports that would even work over ice cream. I think her name was Harriet, and she introduced herself to me. Said they deliver locally, and if we eat at Zankou, which we do, they'd pick up any orders from there and deliver it with any Almor products. Friendly, helpful, they know what they're talking about and they had what I needed, in stock, when I needed it. What's not to like? I'll be back here again. read more

I was given an assignment by my boss to make a kick-ass bar for when he entertains. New to the area I relied on this very forum and found Almor. I loved the experience. The owner was incredibly helpful and dedicated more than an hour helping me find the best of the best. She strayed from pointing out the obvious recommendations (name brands and brand recognition never really do it for me). After all was said and done she graciously asked my personal wine preference and left me 5 bottles richer just for shopping for my boss. As for the reviewer that had a gripe about the prices on the back of the bottle...The price-ranges are categorized by shelf, and secondly the aesthetic of the bottles would be marred by such a thing. This place is the bomb. I had friends in from Texas and they could not believe that one place could deliver all our demands. We want wine! We want Vodka! We want cookies! We want popcorn! We want beautiful candies. And oh yeah, can you pick up a gift basket for a friends birthday and deliver it? Almor delivered every thing in a moments notice with the cutest sweetest delivery guys. My friends went home to Texas (where they have nothing like this) in total amazement. Thank you Almor for making me the best host of the century. This family owned business is a real Hollywood jewel and Mary, the owner, makes you feel like part of her family. I wrote this review before Covid and forgot to post it. Now we are in quarantine and Almor is a shinning light. Not only has Mary been extremely mindful of strict rules for safety with her employees but also keeping things safe for her customers. When I first walked I was pretty happy with the selection of different items especially the chocolates and jerky my husband came in and bought some desarano... Some chocolate and jerky. One of the jerkies was not very good at all. In fact I hate to say this is was disgusting not something we would eat at all. So I decided to go back in and ask if we can do a exchange the worker said we can't do an exchange I asked to see their return policy that is no where in site. In fact the worker didn't seem like he knew the policy too...So he proceeded to call the owner or manager and asked him about doing the an exchange . Their concern was more about not being able to resell the item then making their customer happy. I will say the worker was pleasant and the store is nice, it has nice selections of items.. Im just a bit disappointed with the customer service. Note to the store I would suggest putting a sign up so it's clear of what your policy is read more

We usually walk or bike the rather short distance to stock up, but they also deliver for free.
