Be wary, the rooms have a motion sensor to turn off the ac/heat whenever the room is unoccupied. However, this thermostat motion sensor is not sensitive enough and therefore would turn off whenever you are sleeping. I stayed a total of five nights there and woke up freezing every night. I have tried to bring this up with the front desk, and they claim that the maintenance have fixed it however, it was never fixed. read more

We spent 6 nights at the Aloft. First impressions are important and we have to say our first impression was made by Michelle. She is an assist to this hotel. She always had a greeting for us. Since it was my husband's birthday, she gave him a few coupons and a little gift bag. It was very thoughtful. Lovely young lady. The room was a large corner room as requested. Clean. We did have issues with the TV. Had to turn it on and then turn it off and back on again to get sound. EVERYTIME. Strange but once we got the hang of it, no biggie. The biggest drawback was we requested a king and paid for a king and got a queen. It was also concaved, so when in it you sink to the middle. It was the worse. Would we stay again, probably but we would check out the bed first. read more

I stood by the front podium, on the floor says wait here for next available agent. The server walked by many times, didn't say hello, didn't ask may I help you, would you like a table. Absolutely nothing. I stood there for 8 min, I finally gave up and went to the front desk. The lady, said people go get coffee over there. I was like no I was no where near the coffee, I stood by the podium. Nobody helped I felt so helpless and didn't want to stay another second in that hotel let alone stay a night. There was definitely mold in the HVAC system. I had a reaction the first night we were there, manager was not available so they sent an engineer who was completely dismissive. I tried using over the counter meds to manage through it but because I had a five day work event, it got worse and turned into an infection that weekend. We picked this hotel for the separate tub and shower amenity. Pros: DECENTLY priced, TVs have hulu and netflix apps, room service was delicious, beds comfortable, it seems like a pretty new hotel it was very clean! right off the freeway, in a very middle of nowhere place, free parking, hot tub open until 11p. Cons: our toilet was broken we had to call them to repair while we were at dinner and A/C locked at 68 degrees with no fans-- this is very warm for me I woke up throughout the whole night because of this despite the comfortable bed. So overall we enjoyed the hotel, we will probably stay here again and would recommend it to our friends for a closer spot to the city without the city prices. read more

This is honestly a 3.5 star rating but I rounded up. This is my second time staying here and what I've always liked about this hotel was that it comes with a pseudo kitchenette - there's a sink, fridge, microwave, and lots of shelves, all designed to resemble a kitchen. The only thing that's missing is a stove but for such an inexpensive price, it can't come with everything. Upon walking into the room, there's a work desk on the left and right behind it is the "living room." On the right is the pseudo kitchenette and behind that is the bed. Walking past the bed and there's a closet on one side and a somewhat vanity type of area. Then walk a little further and it's the bathroom - you've got a tub and a glass shower. And since it's Aloft, they carry Bliss products. The 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner leaves a nasty film and the body wash is too thick. But I do like their bars of soap. It's the only thing that won't cling on to your body like crazy. The beds are a little bit on the softer side but still very doable. If you're ever running out of anything, give the front desk a call and if they have it, the Botlr will deliver it to you. You'll receive a phone call saying it's outside waiting for you. It's super adorable! My complaint is that it isn't exactly the cleanest. Our microwave had this large stain in it and the shower caddy was heavily rusted. Sanitation is a definite must that I cannot compromise with. Luckily, I'm always prepared with a pack of Lysol wipes and sanitize all areas before anyone can relax. It's just me, you don't all have to do it! If you're planning on staying here in the area, I would highly recommend coming here because the fridges are deeper than most hotel fridges, which means you can buy more food. If you want to stay in, you just need to ensure your food is microwaveable and you're all set. You can either choose to eat at the desk or the "living room" while watching TV. The TV is adjustable to almost every angle. I would stay here again despite my complaint. Our previous stay was perfect so maybe it's just a one-off. read more

I've started staying here when I visit work (Facebook) instead of staying on the same side of the bay. It's cheaper, nicer, and easier to get rooms here than anywhere else I can stay on the other side of the bay and arguably even closer by time than anywhere you might stay without crossing a bridge. The hotel itself is nice and has a weird, but kind-of-cool upscale, nature-themed decor with various nature objects, e.g., pine cones, on display as you walk down slightly-darkened hallways with wood and earth tones. The rooms I stay in are on the large side, which is nice when I sometimes spend a reasonable amount of time in my room after work. The only thing that really stood out a bit in terms of being odd was that they had wall-mounted soap and shampoo+conditioner dispensers in the shower instead of the small bottles/bars that you'd normally expect. Amazing stay and super unique hotel. Located near a small reservoir, Aloft is nicely remodeled. What amazed me is the food. My siblings and I ordered the kale and quinoa salad, healthy bowl, wings, mac and cheese, and fries. The kale salad, mac and cheese, and fries were amazing. The salad was fresh and flavorful. Fries were crispy, and mac and cheese was unique (not cheddar, it was made with actual cheese). Healthy bowl wasn't too good because it was pretty oily. The wings were a bit tough. Breakfast was also really good. We got eggs, bacon, and toast, all of which tastes very fresh. The actual hotel stay was great. They have a cute little robot that delivers small things like towel, toothpaste, etc. The service was great too. The rooms were huge for the price we paid. The amenities were all new since it is recently remodeled. Would 100% recommend staying here!! read more

The staff who work here were all friendly and nice. However, the hotel leaves much to be desired. The room fridge's door would not close properly unless you used great force. As a matter of fact, we accidentally left it open because of this in the beginning. The towels were not that thick. There are never enough due to me having lots of thick hair so I always call down to the front desk/housekeeping whenever we get to a hotel. Simple enough except the buttons for them did not work. I ended up using my cell-phone to call the main number for the hotel and got put into a loop. At the end of the loop, they requested I push the number 4 which only brought me back to the beginning of the loop. Not fun. It was only on my third try did I actually get someone. The man who came up said that the phone wasn't in the cradle long enough to charge although it had been sitting in the cradle all day long. Two days later the exact thing happened again. Wash. Rinse. Repeat. I had asked for a blanket and they brought me up a sheet. Also, the one of the blinds was destroyed. No outlet on the nightstand next to his side of the bed. Since we were staying three days, we had the option of having housekeeping clean our room only once, but that was only if you called 24 hours in advance. read more

Coffee pot in the room a safe in the room a microwave in the room a refrigerator in the room. They have fluffy white towels a tub AND a shower. A hair dryer along with a magnified mirror air conditioning and a heater they have streaming TV where you can either watch Netflix or Showtime or Amazon Prime or just regular TV if you remember you get a little treat bag when you check in read more

A cheaper alternative than the central valley, but beware, this place is old and needs work. Rooms are very spacious and large, with kitchenettes. But the rooms are old, have a quaint smell, you can't control your temperature, and there's very minimal toiletries. We stayed in the Aloft King room for 3 nights. We had the parking lot as our view so if you want to see some nature, be sure to ask for a room that faces the wildlife refugee. Never had an issue when it came to parking spots. We were able to check in early and check out late because of our SPG status. The hotel is rather isolated and no complimentary shuttle service is offered, so only stay here if you have your own mode of transportation. The room itself is very spacious: living room, work desk / "kitchen" (microwave, fridge, counterspace/cupboards, and sink), and a separate bathroom. There was a TV that can be pivoted towards either the bed or sofa. The bed was comfortable, although the sheets were a bit on the rough side. Instead of it being bared, I had hoped the "kitchen" cupboard was stocked with at least a few plates and/or utensils. The bathroom was sizeable with a separate shower and bathtub. At first glance the room seems to be up to date, however upon closer inspections you can see its wear and tear. Word of advice, the walls can be really thin! On our last night, we were woken up by our neighbors' loud talking/laughing. To drown out their voices, set your AC to continous fan mode for white noise. Even though a security guard was called and sent to speak to the rowdy neighbors, the peace only last a few minutes. As SPG Platinum members, you are allowed $15/person for breakfast at their restaurant. Two out of the three times we ate there, it was understaffed. Leftover dishes were on tables. A few disgruntled guests even left because they had been waiting for nearly an hour for their food. On out last morning, the staff had to turn away guests at 10am because apparently they ran out of food (breakfast ends at 1030am). So if you're planning on dining there for breakfast, make sure you have time to spare and arrive early. The gym is hidden away on the 1st floor. If you aren't paying attention, you may miss it since the entrance looks like any other guestroom door. Once inside, you are greeted with a handful of cardio machines (one of each). There are dumbbells alongside one of the walls. In addition, there's this humongous apparatus that I think is suppose to work out your arms. (As you can tell I'm no gym enthusiast.) Towels, wiping clothes, and a water cooler is there for your convenience. The highlight of our stay was the Botlr! (Get it? The play on words, butler and robot?! What a knee slapper, haha!) We requested lotions (since they only come in 1 oz sizes...) to be brought to our room. I know I'm dating myself here, but it was like something out of The Jetsons! So have your phone ready because the Botlr is IG worthy! read more

I've stayed here twice and both times had been a great experience. I stayed at the aloft last weekend (8/12/17) and from the minute I checked in to the minute I checked out, everything has been a breeze. All the staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. I've lost my room key, God knows how many times, and not once did they show any annoyance, especially the gentlemen (tall, dark hair with glasses) that was at front desk all 3 days I was there. They have room service for almost the whole day and a cute robot that was available 24/7 to bring you anything, even as simple as toilet paper. I really like the fact that housekeeping did not bother me not once while I was there (I had my do not disturb sign hung on the door knob) unless I request for something. Other hotels will come knocking at your door as early at 9am the day of check out ! I was able to sleep in and request for a late check out. Lastly, I can't thank you enough for the hotel being so chill. I had some friends over to join me at the pool and they were super cool with it. I've stayed at several other Aloft hotels which brand themselves as "a modern, fresh and fun destination." This Newark location is nothing like your typical Aloft. From the moment we arrived it was evident that it was an old hotel that they simply slapped the Aloft name on. It doesn't have your typical Aloft look and vibe. Our room had many issues including a very uncomfortable bed that tilted badly to one side, a broken window shade, an empty tissue box, a sketchy shower floor that prompted my wife wear sandals in it like you would at a gym shower, etc. Overall, the hotel looks very dated and poorly maintained. While Marriott claims to have Covid safety measures in place including mask requirements in the lobby, the mask signs on the lobby for were ignored by many and not enforced by the staff in any way. read more

I am definitely not the type to write bad reviews. I am currently a guest at this hotel; I have stayed here previously two times and had amazing stays. Unfortunately, this third visit was not great. First of all when I checked in, I was not told that I needed to request for housekeeping. After finding that out, I made sure that I requested it everyday. Today I walked in at 3:30pm and of course no one had been in our room; so I called the front desk and told them my concern. In which, they called back and said it was a miscommunication and no one was available to clean our room today. Day 1; the shower has 3 attachments "glued" to the wall; 2 of 3 fell down while we were sleeping; so they came up and fixed it the next morning on 8-26. The card maintenance left states "we fixed" shower, door, and dispenser's. As of right now; one dispenser is attached. I would suggest they stop using glue to attach. On the morning of 8-27; I let them know that the same thing happened again, and I informed the front desk not to worry about it until after our stay because it's obvious that "heat" and "glue" will not work well together. Our stay does not have to be perfect, but communication amongst the staff needs improvement. This hotel has always been great and the rooms have definitely took a hit since my last visit in 2020. Wish this staff and hotel the best in the future because as much as I have enjoyed this place in the past; the accommodations have definitely taken a hit. My favorite place to stay when in Cali. I love their Bar. They are need Coyote Hills, OMG!!! The best walking trail and hiking if you like. It's right off the highway, but you don't hear the highway AT ALL and all of you know exactly what I am talking about. Nothing like LA. Decent food. Vegan option or two. Started off fantastic 5 stars at check in, the hispanic man behind the counter was excellent, very professional welcoming. room was amazing, clean modern chic. it was too checkout when it drop off to 1 star. Had to leave around 5am to catch a flight at SFO, there was no one at the counter. We forgot toothpaste and contact solutions, and knowning from staying at other hotels they were complimentary to guests, well to the right of the desk were travel size toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash, all the usual stuff that people forget. so we grabbed one, and instantly an employee came out and first thing out of his mount "Did you take something from my counter" no good morning, can I help you?,,, nope in an negative aggressive tone he started accusing us of stealing WHERE THERE IS NO PRICES PLACED AT ANY ITEMS!!!! the asian male with faical hair was very unprofessional agruing with us. If "Hotel Impossible" Anthony Melchiorri was there he'd look at him straight in the face and ask him "are you an Idiot? do you have any education in Hospitality?" this left us a bad taste in our mouth. Stayed there on a weekend and it was really pleasant. The double queen room has blinds that will make the room very dark if you need. Pictures matched the in person view. Apparently weekdays are when most guests stay because it's a corporate hotel, so don't expect to make many friends on the weekend unless there is an event going on nearby. Very sleek and modern by the pool area. The pool was heated, not hot tub temperature but almost bathtub temp. cool gym and there are 2 elevators. The chicken panini at the restaurant was nice too. I have to say I was very impressed with this Aloft location! I know it used to be some other old motel or residence inn back in the day and obviously they've revamped it to cater to the Silicon Valley crowd now that the FB HQ is so close by. Here's the rundown.... Noise: When I was checking in there were groups of what I guessed were college engineering students or interns having some sort of bonding activity. I was afraid that it would lead to noisiness in the rooms but we didn't notice that at all. Rooms: they haven't been completely updated but they've gone in and put W touches here and there, in the form of a cute vintage alarm clock, some colorful art, and bliss toiletries. I had no need for the kitchenette but the bed was comfy and the bathroom nice and spacious. Gym: I was surprised that there was a pretty decent gym in this location! New equipment and though it wasn't huge, there was no one else in there on a Saturday morning. Lobby/Restaurant: The lobby was my favorite part of the hotel. In the evenings it looked like a pretty popular spot to get drinks for locals, and probably not a scene I would join normally. But in the morning it was wide open and very peaceful. They have a cute coffee and tea station set up, and though we ordered breakfast in the restaurant we asked if we could eat it on the couches by the fireplace and they kindly obliged! It was a great spot to have a relaxing meal and read a book for a little while before getting the day started. Aloft hotels usually impress me with their level of quality and attention to detail for the fairly affordable rates, and this one is no exception! read more

I was here for a week when visiting the Palo Alto / Menlo Park area and could not find a closer hotel than this, but I was pleasantly surprised. This hotel is just over the Dumbarton bridge ($5 going West) and is in a super quiet area and seems placed in the middle of a bunch of office buildings. The hotel is definitely a "W brand" and has that funky vibe. The rooms were very nice, beds were comfy, and the rooms were super quiet. After staying here, I would definitely return as this place is so much more relaxing than the other options on the West side of the bridge. This hotel is probably the closest to Facebook HQ as it is just on the other side of the bridge. Parking is free (hooray) and the breakfast is expensive. The luggage carts (airport style) out front are a nice touch. read more

I've been a long time customer way back to years ago when this hotel was the W. After changing to Aloft I continued my patronage. I travel for business constantly, and have stayed in uncountable hotels through the years. The Aloft has been one of my favorite local hotels to stay at when on business in the SF Bay Area. The room layout and quality is one of the best for the cost. The location is perfect as well for my line of business which takes me anywhere from San Francisco to San Jose. I would have given close to a 5 star review just based on this review. However, I stayed again last night and while I have always received stellar customer service over the decade plus I have been staying here regularly...I absolutely did not this morning. Nick (last name unknown) at the front desk had the worst customer service I have ever experienced at most any hotel. He was very rude and refused to help me. For example, when I checked in the night before I had requested a late check out, which was granted. The front desk upon check in was great. I also explained I may want to extend my stay another night dependIng on my schedule, but would follow up tomorrow. Due to wildfires and natural circumstances my onsite work meetings were canceled, so I requested a bit later check out so that I could get some work done and determine if I wanted to stay another night. Nick was very rude and said he could not help me and tried to remove the already set late check out until I told him that it was already set when I checked in, but that I needed a little more time if possible to determine my work schedule and if I would be staying an additional night. He only agreed to honor the original request which was only an over past check out. After getting most of my work schedule sorted out I called back as it was approaching check out time to ask for just a few more minutes. Again Nick was very rude and I asked for his manager which he refused to give me any additional time and said, "go ahead tell my manager on me!" And hung up on me. Then I decided to just book another night to avoid any more bs. When I called back Nick once again was very rude and didn't want to honor the price I paid for the first night and wanted to up-charge me for my second night by an additional $40. At that point I personally was offended and a bit pissed off to be honest. I stay there regularly and most the staff knows me and I've never had a problem there, so this really threw me off. I just packed my belongings and left without even showering. I asked for the manger before I left in person without even getting into it with Nick. He took his time then after 10-15 mins told me that the manager was busy walking the floors and would be down when he was done. I ended up leaving. I don't think I will be spending my hard earned money at this establishment going forward, unless Nick is out of the picture. It was completely uncalled for and rude. read more
