5 years ago my company office location was burglarized and I was put in charge of submitting bids to various vendors on an alarm and surveillance system that would best fit our needs after this unfortunate incident. I met Isaac Lima during one of these client proposals and he came across as genuine, was attentive to our needs and really made an effort to give us the best possible system that fit our budget. On the other hand some of the other alarm companies were more aggressive with their sales pitch. They also had more "cookie cutter" solutions and were more interested in upselling vs trying their best to come up with a solution for my property location. Aloha Alarm isn't the biggest name and some of my management were hesitant but Isaac and his team gave us peace of mind and a competitive price that we went with them. Our office location is safe and has a system that fits our needs. The techs and installers that were brought on site were clean with their work and they explained thoroughly how to use the system. Isaac is also a phone call away if I have any questions or concerns. Our system is still running great after 4 years of use. There have been a few times a tech has been needed to be dispatched but the wait times are not that bad--same day or next day. Perhaps we have been lucky in this aspect but its nice that Aloha Alarm takes care of its clients in a timely manner. I would highly recommend Aloha Alarm and the services that they provide. Every person that has come on site or any time I have had to call in to ask a question the employees are polite and will get me the answers that I need. I was looking for a company to take over my home alarm monitoring service since I was getting poor service from Alert Alarm that I have been a customer for almost 10 years (please see their review). After contacting 3 alarm companies on a Friday evening, I was surprised to get calls from 2 companies on the next day which included Aloha Alarm. Issac from Aloha Alarm breezed through the initial walk through a little faster than I wanted, but he was able to answer my questions in a timely manner during subsequent correspondences. Their equipment was the same as the other company, but their prices was a little less than the other company. I definitely received exceptional service from the installing technician, John. He was very thorough, knowledgeable, and took pride in his work. He experienced a couple of "first time" problems that I felt he handled in a professional manner. For example, the worldwide GSM monitoring system went down during my installation, and he had to come back the next day in order to connect my system to the monitoring system. In addition, the Total Connect website was showing a faulty smoke detector despite my panel showing no faulty smoke detector. In both these instances, he used his resources in order to resolve these issues. Although the install required more time, I cannot blame Aloha Alarm for something that they have no control of like the GSM network. I hopefully can expect similar service for the duration of my relationship with Aloha Alarm. read more

When I bought my townhouse, I knew I needed to get an alarm to protect myself, dogs and well my house. I looked into a lot of local and mainland alarm companies. I went to the BIA Home Building & Remodeling Show in 2011 and talk to a few of them. Aloha Alarm was there and well I put my name in the raffle drawing for a free alarm and got it. So I decided to look into the company further and I tell you I am glad I did. Titus was my representative and he is awesome. He explain about the company, the alarm, the options and the prices were pretty good. James was my technician and he was very professional. He helped me set up my alarm in the house. It has been a year since I have used this company. I got the Honeywell touchscreen with door/window contact, motion sensor and key fobs. It is a great system. Customer service is good and rates are reasonable. I have recommended them to my friends and definitely recommend them to you guys for your alarm needs. read more

I didn't have a lot of experience shopping for alarm systems but needed to learn fast over the holiday season. I was very impressed that on a day's notice (right around New Year's) a sales rep came to my place of business and was able to give me an estimate. The tech staff, sales staff, office staff and even the owner have been responsive to our many questions and concerns. And when we needed additional training or support, they were there. I am extremely pleased with Aloha Alarm. I called around to several alarm companies, some didn't even return my call. Another company was more expensive and was not available to install within the timeframe I needed. I called Aloha Alarm and Titus met with me the next day. He was professional, friendly, and was able to schedule an install within the week! Our installer was awesome, worked efficiently, and I felt confident about the work he did. For our first appointment, Titus came over and made the decision process very simple. He earned my trust quickly. Never felt like I was being hustled into making a decision. When the installers came, they informed me immediately that they were training a new installer. I thought this was very professional. I also listened to how they trained the new installer. Very impressive. I can appreciate that proper training will create better employees. Once installed, they provided me with training and helped me set-up on my computer and mobile devices. My consultation on 9/18/14 felt impersonal and not sincere. Here's why: My whole reason for searching for a security company was because earlier in the week, a neighbor TWICE saw the same individual pass by, scoping my house. Shared this w/the salesperson, talked about different setups and was told I could get my requested price breakdown emailed within 2 days. Unfortunately, the salesperson's follow-up was lacking and the proposal follow-up was not received until I publicly complained on Yelp 5 days later. Probably a good thing because I would have spent almost $1500 on a complete video system. EDIT 9/26/14: Today I received a phone call from Aloha Alarm and they were concerned about my review. They are a mom and pop, local business and they care about their company and shareholders. There are a lot of good reviews here for them. Judge for yourself. This company wasn't for me but doesn't mean others shouldn't give them a chance. EDIT 9/30/14: To be truthful, it was more than just a "lost email" that gives you your rating. As an update, I liked them so much the first time, I called them back a few weeks later and had them install 3 additional cameras and upgraded to an 8-channel DVR. Once again, top notch service from start to finish. Can't stress enough all the positives: Titus responded to my inquiries about the additional cost for the cameras in a timely manner; he scheduled the installation within a short timeframe; and the installers came on time and finished quickly and professionally. Titus (Sales Rep) and Kean (Installer) are awesome; service, communication, and installation are all top notch. At no time did I feel rushed into any decision. Even when I had made a decision, they were always happy to make recommendations. They both seem to be proud of their jobs and it displays in their genuine customer service. It is not everyday you see people who genuinely love their jobs and actually care about the customer. It is people like Titus and Kean that make local businesses great. Have been with Aloha Alarm for a long time, in the beginning they had good customer service, and were very helpful. Within the last couple of years things seemed to have changed. It's been three times since we mailed in our payments and then we get calls saying we never paid our bill. Once I can see but I got a call last week and told the agent that called me I paid this bill and gave him the check number, he said he would look into it. This week another person calls saying again we did not pay our bill. I sent him a photo of my cancelled check, and told him to have someone call me, I am very unhappy with your service since this has happened more than once. Till this day no one called back. We were also notified we need to upgrade our system, the options were either $199 to have a chip installed or $699 for the upgraded Panel. When they emailed me this past month about the upgrade I let them know that we were having issues with our system, the battery keeps saying low battery, or system texts us system battery restored. No one has gotten back to us to see what the problem is. I thought about upgrading but it looks like we will be looking around for a new alarm company. read more

My initial review of Aloha Alarm was for the installation of a burglary system that went well. I also purchase a security camera system from the business, and this is where thing took a turn for the worse. The installation was scheduled for 2 day. However, it took 4 days to complete. The tech did not arrive on time any of the days.  I was promised a clean and professional job, but when the job I had visible holes in my wall. I asked for wall plates to cover the hole in my walls, and it took another two weeks for them come and install (3) wall plates for (4) holes. THEREFORE, I STILL HAVE ONE HOLE IN THE WALL OF MY HOUSE! At this point, I will cover it myself and avoid the unnecessary stress.  Just be careful when using the company. read more

I called and spoked to Isaac Lima..I thought he was very professional and explain about the company, the alarm, and option of the price. A home visit was set up on Super Bowl Sunday.. Business charged my debit card with no service. A lot of Miscommunication between sales representatives and their call desk representatives to set appointments. Bad business practices. They are charging my debit card without any services being rendered. When called to reverse a pending charge (again, with no service with this company) representative by the name of Julie and requested (with obvious attitude issue) that an email should be sent to her directly requesting for pending payment to be reimbursed. She concluded that this email would be used to stop further future payments being made to my debit card. The way I see this situation is that she is prolonging the reimbursement made to my debit card because company has incompetent employees to reverse a payment that wasn't suppose to be charged. You've been fair warned with this company. Every person that I've spoken to --- from contracts, schedules and financial department have been proven to be incompetent in their positions. *** DO NOT WORK WITH THIS BUSINESS *** they will take your money and run. read more

Just moved into a new home. We chose Aloha Alarm because of the other good reviews on this site. We were not disappointed. It was great dealing with a local company, and feeling like a person instead of just another number to a large corporation. Our home already had an alarm system in place from the previous owners. Aloha Alarm was able to update the system, and still use much of what was already in place. The installation price was a fraction of what we expected, and the monthly service rate is quite reasonable, as well. Isaac came out for our initial consultation. He was on time, professional and knowledgable. He took the time to explain the systems and options to our satisfaction. There was about a 3 week delay from consultation to actual installation, but he was upfront about it, and never promised anything he couldn't deliver. Eddie, our installer, was also very prompt, showing up within 10 minutes of the promised start time. He and his assistant worked tirelessly all day, setting up the new system, with Isaac stopping by to make sure everything was going well, and to answer any more of my questions. Once installation was complete, Eddie gave me a very thorough orientation on how to work the system, and did not leave until all of my questions were answered. After doing some research on Honolulu-based security alarm companies, I narrowed it down to two candidates (largely due to reviews on both here in Yelp), one of which was Aloha Alarm. I sent both companies an inquiry through Yelp's "contact" option. To my surprise, I heard back from the owner of the company, Mark, on SUPER BOWL SUNDAY, no less!! I was floored!! Mark told me to expect a call from Isaac, their Sales Manager, who would be more than happy to help answer any questions I had. Best part is, Isaac had already sent me a text introducing himself to me and asking how he could be of assistance, even before Mark's message came through! So now I've heard from not only the owner but the sales manager as well, and did I mention this was on SUPER BOWL SUNDAY?!?! What a great first impression! After setting up a visit to my home for a free estimate, Isaac arrived early and stepped through my house to assess the best options to protect my home. He was soon able to provide me with two options, both affordable, and took the time to review the pros and cons of each system's design. After hearing my concerns, he was able to work with me to customize a system that not only met my security needs but also my budget! No attempt to "up-sell" me on any unnecessary components or services either. Unfortunately, the earliest available installation date was four weeks away. Having just relocated to this particular neighborhood, I expressed my concerns to Isaac about not wanting to go that long without any kind of security in place. He said he'd do his best to try to get me in sooner but couldn't make any promises. Two days later, he sends me a text asking if I could accommodate installation the following Monday, which I readily accepted. Bronson (lead installer) was assigned to do the install and arrived on-time and ready to go. His work was quick, clean and meticulous, even when we were both temporarily perplexed by what was thought to be an issue with a power outlet (turned out to be a bad cable). And as others have said, he took the time to clean up his materials and debris, something I've seen too many contractors overlook and leave behind. System overview and training was quick and efficient, and Bronson took his time to answer any questions I had. Total time from first contact through Yelp to system installed and active: 2 weeks. We've been active with our system now for going on two weeks and haven't had any issues to speak of. As someone with prior experience in installing security and telephone systems, I have to say I'm impressed. GREAT service, affordable pricing, and most importantly, genuinely willing to work with their customers to ensure their satisfaction and security. What more can you ask for? Thank you, Mark, for surrounding yourself with quality individuals and professionals like Isaac and Bronson, and I'm sure you're entire staff, to make Aloha Alarm a leader in home security in Honolulu. Update: We are very impressed with the service of this company. Upon hearing about our difficulties, the owner contacted us and quickly had someone come over at a time that was convenient to us (so we didn't have to take off from work). This technician was very nice and professional just like the other two gentlemen we had worked with. Within 40 minutes everything seemed to be fixed up and good to go. We will definitely be referring our friends to this company. We have already recommended them to our optometrist who was looking for a good alarm company. We have worked with other alarm companies in the past for work and with our other residence. Aloha Alarm is the way to go. Give them a call, we are glad that we did! Previous review: Our salesman and installer were both very nice and pleasant to work with. However, when we needed assistance after the installation it was, and currently still is, a very difficult process. We tried leaving a message on their main line and never received a call back after several days. We then called again and spoke directly to a nice receptionist who said she'd have our installer call us back, but after another several days there was no call back. We called again and then again one more time, and we still haven't received any help. Again, everyone we've worked with in person have been super nice guys and hard workers, it's just frustrating that we can't get any help for two problems we still have right after installation. read more

Pay very close attention to the recent reviews of this company. We've been Aloha Alarm customers since 2014. Something has definitely gone wrong. Recently, we started getting false alarms from one of our internal motion sensors. I called the service number, and was told someone would contact me. 2 weeks later, after no callback, I contacted them again, and the same thing happened -- no callback. Almost 2 months later, my wife called, and because she's more persuasive, she was able to get the person on the phone to make an appointment for later in the week. No mention of the $175 service call fee that I would only find out about later. On the day of the appointment, the service person showed up on time, but said there was nothing that could be done except to replace the motion sensor. No diagnostics, no review of alarm history. He replaced the sensor and made no mention of cost, so I naively figured maybe it was covered as part of aloha alarm's good service. Shame on me for believing there are still companies that stand behind their product. Got the bill for $248.03. Had I known how much the service call and replacement sensor would be, I would've skipped it all and found a new alarm company. Save yourself the hassle and expense. There are far better, and more ethical security companies out there. read more

We just had our new cameras installed by this company at our downtown office. I was amazed at the work these guys had done. I really could not see the wires, and there was no trash anywhere. Their technician explained everything perfectly, so I give James points for that. The great thing is seeing all of my workers through my android phone all the time! Aloha Alarm was the friendliest alarm company I dealt with. They came when they said they would and answered all my questions. The best thing is that their alarm system works as they said it would. Each time I test it, it worked perfectly. I have had it for many years now. One time cops came when no one was home...it called the cops automatically...amazing...they prevented a robbery! This system even calls the fire dept if the sensors are activated...automatically so you can get everyone out knowing help is already on the way. First of all almost 5 years ago I signed up with alkha alarm and then about a year later things broke. I tried canceling alarm then I found out I'm in a 5 year contract. Over the years devices broke and had to be replaced they charge a 100 fee just to come out for an hour. They wont give you any access to system you can change broken devices on your own either. I complained and the lady was nice and said she replace battery for free if I paid for battery which I accepted. That's the least they could have done. I called to cancel my contract at the end of my 5 year and now i need to pay for another full month since I started the month. Do not go with them contracts aren't discussed up front. read more

I know Aloha Alarm is in its early stages, but my office has been with Mark (and his Alarm company) for the past 6 years. In the past, the monitoriing has been perfect. The support service was great. Even the installation was done in a professional manner by experienced staff. It looks and feels like nothing has changed. The office staff is still very helpful and monitoring still awesome.
