Smiles are everywhere from the baristas to the servers to the owner/managers and even the other patrons! Everyone seems to know everyone there! On the day I visited, there was a group of local aunties and uncles who brought their melodic voices and ukuleles to sing and serenade in the traditional Hawaiian ways with meles (songs), talk story, and a single flower for the Wahini (women/girls) to tuck behind their ear. Even our little fur baby "Sophia" (nestled in our arms) was greeted in the true aloha spirit! In addition to feeling so welcomed, my vanilla latte and order of bagel with smoked salmon & cream cheese were delicious and filling! The owner here is so friendly and was happy to share information on all their delicious baked goods! I came here mainly for the Taro Malasada, and it was fluffy and not too sweet. The cream cheese filling helps balance the sweetness. There is just one flavor of malasada, but even those not fans of poi will like this malasada. The owner also encouraged us to try the Cocoa Berry Cake Bites by Cousins in the Kitchen; seemed like a special of the week promo item, so it might not be there regularly. OMG it was so fluffy yet moist and definitely not too sweet! Everything you would want a cake to taste like. The hot egg muffy and coffee mocha also hit the spot for a wholesome and complete breakfast. Service is quick, so grabbing something on the go easy. The cafe is not easy to find; if you see government looking buildings, you're going the right way. Look for The Lihue Plantation Ltd. before seeing the Aloha Craft Cafe banner. Talk about a hidden gem! They're located behind the old first Hawaiian bank in Lihue on the first floor of the plantation building. There is ample parking and they are super easy to find. This was our first time coming here and let me just say their coffee, sandwiches and BANANA PUDDING WAS ONO. Not only did the aunties come for live music but the owner was an absolute DOLL. This small cafe is tucked into the Old Plantation bldg in Lihue so we hit it before getting our supplies at nearby Costco and Safeway. The staff is super friendly and funny. There was a mix up on our order (and a few others while we were there) but they fixed it quickly. Lots of locals filtered in and may have been preparing to play some music. They also handed us some free Plumeria blooms which was super nice. The Americano and a Classic coffee came out fast and hot. The food was okay... Breakfast Sandwich w/ Portuguese Sausage: 4/5. Wished the white bread was toasted (if we go back I would request that) and that I had held off the spinach as it didn't add much except a funky smell. The Portuguese sausage was a first and it was kinda like a gourmet hotdog with similar texture. Malasadas: 5/5. Delicious fresh cream filled Malasadas (a Portuguese donut) made with Hawaiian Taro and covered in sugar. Lightly sweet with a cream cheese filling and light fluffy purple dough from the Taro. The live music is absolutely adorable - the neighbor during my stay recommended this place which hides inside of an old bank building! Me and my buddy Bob stopped in this place for breakfast on the way to the airport. Pulling in to parking lot, it was a very unassuming location in what looks like an office building with a canvas sign "Aloha Craft Cafe" tied to outside steps railing. The interiors were very simple so wasn't sure how it was going to be. What a pleasant surprise!!! The staff was so incredibly friendly and happy. First there was Megan who was awesome but then got to meet Jaysie who took our order. What a force of nature. She had such a great sense of humor and was able to keep up with my New York City humor. Found this lovely little cafe just outside of the airport. It's in an unsuspecting space and seems likely a cafe for the office building. Randomly found this place on Yelp and so happy I did! Their Spiced Chai Tea Late was perfect, not too sweet and the spice was just right for fall. It was creamy and frothy. The food was great and the wonderful staff, even more so! Jess met us a couple of months earlier and it was like seeing an old friend. We really wanted the malasadas which we had on our previous visit, but they were all sold out. Jess offered to set some aside for when they got them in a couple of days!
