Neither my husband nor I learned how to roller skate/board well so it was quite a learning curve in the beginning for us as we led our kids' on their first roller skate ride. I kind of wished that they would provide the skating pal for kids at no charge, but totally understand that it's a money-maker. The kids persevered much better than I anticipated and they actually ended up enjoying themselves by the end! My only gripe is I got slightly tricked as I bought an arcade card only to find later that they didn't have many games to use the credits on (and many of the machines were either non-functional or broken in some way), so I still have a ton of credit remaining by the end of our trip (that we may never take advantage of unless we return again)... read more

Check the website before driving over. I relied on the hours posted on Yelp, so we got there Thursday at 7 only to be told public skating closes at 6:45. Not their fault. I checked the website and arrived the next day at noon. I completed the waiver online, but it'd be better if you do this prior to arriving. You can fill out the waiver for yourself, a minor, or yourself and a minor, You need to pay for admission to enter and skate rentals if you do not bring your own. You can rent lockers (they take cards) and is easy to use. Plenty of tables if you have people waiting and watching (in that case no need for a locker). There is a small snack bar, but I listened and brought our own beverages. The music was mostly 90s which was cool. It brought back the good ole days, my childhood. You skate in one direction. You will see a mini miniature golf on your right. You will see the arcades and the laser tag area as well. Unfortunately, Gavin and I did not get to enjoy most of the facility. I fell backwards about 10 minutes in. Kudos to staff that rushed over to help me up. She skated w/ me till I was out of the rink. I was throbbing in pain. I fell on my tailbone, tried to brace my fall w/ my good hand. The result? I sprained my wrist, my ankle, and my tailbone is questionable until I get an X-ray. It hurts to move, I couldn't even use my car alarm to open the doors. Gavin had to help me. I waited there an hour for him to skate. He checked on me a few times. I didn't want to leave since it was his last day of break. He resumes school tomorrow. The rollerblades were in good condition. The skate was smooth. Other than me falling, Gavin and I had a good time. After sharing w/ my family about my fall, I was asked how stupid was I to try and skate since I am not young anymore. We came here right when it opened at noon on MLK day. Waivers can be signed electronically (QR code posted on a sign close to the entrance) before paying at the counter. We opted for the blades over the quad wheels, secured a wristband, and went over to the rental skates section. At the time it was pretty empty but the place quickly filled up within an hour and the rink is pretty small (especially when compared to an average ice skating rink) so it will feel crowded during peak hours. I used to ice skate so I tolerated the feeling of the rollerblades being different, but apparently getting the right-sized skates matters a lot. It makes skating a lot easier. I had to size down twice because I measured my foot size with my shoes on (my shoes are form-fitting so I thought it wouldn't be a big deal). They also have skates without laces that allow for them to be tighter around the ankles. This was pretty much a spur in the moment type of thing. My friends and I were planning to go bowling but came across this place and decided to give it a try. Majority of us have not been to a roller rink before, but we were super surprised how fun it was ! We went on a Saturday night and was pretty surprised that it wasn't super busy or packed. I love how the roller rink is Luau themed. There's mini golf and a little arcade area that has pool tables. It does look like you have to pay to use the pool tables but I'm not entirely sure. There's the main roller rink with all the décor and theres a little rink on the side that I believe is for people who never skated before. They also play great music ! Upon entry, you can either get the quad skates (cheaper option) or blades. I chose to do quads at first, but I actually grew up using roller blades. The quad skates were different, but it was manageable. They were actually way more comfortable than the blades (I ended up switching to blades after an hour). We finally took our little skating for the first time! We came on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty empty. The rink is big and had lots of arcade games, tables to sit, and even mini golf. It was expensive like any other thing nowadays , $15 each for admission (even my 4 year old) the skates were $5 for quads $7 blades AND you had to pay for the skater aid trainer that kids push around for balance. We didn't notice any real food could be purchased, just snacks and drinks. I believe they do have deals throughout the week and adult night so we do plan to come back eventually. read more

I had no idea this place existed until my cousin told me about. They offer a variety of activities here for an unlimited time. They have laser tag, mini golf, roller blading, and an arcade area. You pay for the activity that you want and then at a fix price you can keep playing it for as long as you'd like. The only rule is you can't go in and out. We opted for mini golf and rollerblading. You can bring your own skates or you can also rent them for $7. They have lockers where you can put your stuff. No food court inside so eat before you come. They do sell water and snacks like chips but it can be overpriced. The arcade area did not really have alot of machines. The rollerblading was pretty fun. The mini golf was like a glow in the dark mini golf set up. There wasn't really alot of workers at the place so you kind of had to do everything yourself. It's nice to have a roller skating rink in my city. That means that even when the weather's not great outdoors, I have somewhere to make use of my rollerblades. Even better, when I have a partner who also owns skates, and we can enjoy our time here wihout having to pay that extra blade/skate rental fee. I've been to this roller rink many times, mostly pre-covid, and I can say it has much improved over the years. I was here before it had all those extras that make it the "Aloha Fun Center", ie. the arcades, glowing mini-golf course, and all those additional seating options. It was pretty much just a space for skating, which was fine by me, but the decor also looked super cheap (like stuff from Party City or Dollar Tree) and the venue seemed like it was still being built. Now, it still looks kinda cheap... but it's definitely upgraded, staying true to that tiki theme but with better props and artwork. The arcade is bright and colorful and all machines seem to be in working order with unique games like Connect4 Hoops. They have a couple pool tables. And a few non-alcoholic drinks and snacks for purchase, including whole pizzas. But the main attraction here is the roller rink. They have cubbies to hold your shoes/jackets, and small rental lockers to hold more valuable stuff if you want it to be locked, while you skate. There's an AC/fans blowing in the rink that make for the perfect temperature as you skate. There's music playing at a moderate level, not blowing your ears off as you fly by the speakers, but the volume loud enough for visitors to get lost in the music while skating (which is a good thing). There is also a live DJ on certain days, I believe the adult-only nights (which you can find on their website/calendar). The music is pretty random otherwise. This past Saturday, they played songs like Whitney Houston's I Wanna Dance with Somebody, Good 4 You by Olivia Rodrigo, and Running Up That Hill (ya know, the one that makes you think of Max from Stranger Things). Anyway, what I love about this place is that it's never crowded. Yes, it can get annoying when there are a lot of beginner skaters using "skate mates" (which pretty much look like walkers) or just interrupting the flow of movement among the crowd at times along the circular path in the rink. But for the most part, there is enough space to enjoy your time no matter your skill level. And falling is not a rare occurrence here, so no need to feel embarrassed. That being said, they do make you sign a waiver when you enter, so hopefully no one gets hurt. The service is pretty minimal here, you have pretty much one employee at the ticket counter for admission, one employee at the skate rental booth, and one employee at the concessions stand, and they pretty much just take care of those responsibilities, so don't expect superfast service or anything extra (especially on busier days). But you do get a lot of freedom to do what you like while in the venue, and you can go at your own pace during the public skate sessions as they do not have limited time slots like some other roller skating rinks. read more

A lot bigger than I expected it to be! It's in a very nice plaza with other activities as well. We paid $15 per person, $5 for quad rental, and $7 for blade rental; came to about $45 total. Was pretty empty for the most part, has a lot of seating available and some arcade games (most were out of order) and you do have to load a game card to be able to play. Music was okay, service was good as well but we didn't need much other than checking in and getting our skates. There's also a side section to skate other than the main rink. Laser tag and mini golf is available but not sure if they were open. Snacks are available to purchase as well. Overall pretty fun, would recommend if you're looking for an indoor activity (though it does get quite hot as the AC isn't very strong). read more

An interesting skate rink. A novel idea. Taking old a store like Mervyns, Put it in her tubes around the columns, and let people skate around to nice music. All of the lights, DJ, snack bar, it's all here. Just skate on the linoleum floor. When I was young, and a rollerskating freak, we used to go to Valley Plaza Mall In Bakersfield And skate through the mall while security guards tried to catch us. You had to be good, because you didn't wanna get caught LOL. I always thought it would be a good idea to turn one of those dinosaurs shopping stores that closed due to Walmart into a skate park. The person with this idea has my kudos. Price is $15 for up to 12 hours skate. That's the only downside of this. If you want to go just for two hours it's still $15. But if you want an all day skate for your kids, lots of exercise and get away from them LOL, drop them off for 12 hours of skating ha ha Ha read more

Finally got my new skates and what better way than to hit the rink! This rink is located at Eastridge mall where Sport Chalet used to reside years ago. Signed a digital waiver upon entrance and paid a fee of $15 for open skate. If you're learning to skate, they provide PVC walkers on wheels to rent for $7. Left side of the rink has a large open space, that can be set up for parties. There are open cubbies to store your belongings or lockers for rent at the back. Rink is on the right side, lots of neon decor , great for photo ops! Variety of music was played overhead- old school, rap, 80s you name it. There's also mini neon golf right behind the rink. We skated and were there for about 2 1/2 hours and had a ton of fun. We wished the rink was a little bigger- just needs a tad more expansion. Esp when it gets crowded and you're trying to dodge the little ones and those with walkers. Overall had a good experience. read more

I finally had the opportunity to check out Aloha and I must say it brought back some truly wonderful memories from my childhood. The visit started with the beginner kids class for my daughter followed by the adult beginner class for myself. For the kids class, they had 3 instructors. I later had the chance to learn from each of them. My daughter was a bit afraid at first but Dave came over and showed her some beginner tips and before we knew it, she was off on her own. Of course with mommy and daddy nearby but she was able to demonstrate that she was feeling more comfortable with skating. There were 3 instructors for the adult class as well and as a beginner, I felt well supported. The instructors would check in on me often and give me some tips. I felt so rusty when I first stepped on the rink but after a few rounds, I began to remember why I had fallen in love with roller skating as a kid. After the adult lesson concluded, they had open skate. They turned down the lights and turned up the music. Some great throwbacks to Whitney Houston all the way to more recent songs like Players by Coi Leray. No profanity in the music so I felt comfortable having my little one there. Overall, I enjoyed it! There will always be things that we wish were different and if this place got a decent remodel, I think it would have no trouble staying open. I think the community needs a safe place like this for kids to learn a new hobby and be active. I'm so glad Aloha is back and I can't wait to go back again! read more

(See photo) Plus if needed, add skate guider/walker thingy rental ($5). They will also coat check your items ($2??) but I would just wear a small bag (belt bag, small messenger bag type) to keep keys and such safe on me. They don't allow outside food & drinks. They do have a drinking fountain near the restrooms in the back, and sell water bottles for $2, Gatorade for $3. Pro tip: bring your own hydro flask filled with water. *Not sure they allow this but we brought ours. Tip: Make sure you wear socks! Celebrated my daughter's 9th birthday here yesterday, as this seemed to be the easiest fun activity to plan for my daughter. My mother passed away less than two weeks ago and I thought reserving a spot here for family and friends to celebrate my daughter's birthday would be easy. I will definitely not be doing this again. It was more stressful than helpful for someone grieving. Upon checking in staff was not pleasant and gave the perception they did not want to be there. Did the bare minimum to tend to me and my guest. Customer services was horrible to say the least. If you're planning a party here, DONT. Save your money. I spent over $300 for poor customer service, long wait time for pizza and overall moody staff. I get young kids want to work. But there should be at least two adult staff members overseeing these teenagers. read more

I miss the one that used to be open in south San Jose. This place is okay, it's run by a bunch of teens so things are really unorganized, but other than that it's fine. The skates are a little run down so I recommend bringing your own. There's a lot of kids here so if you're planning on actually skating fast I don't recommend this place. There's kids and people falling everywhere and the rink itself has lots of cracks and is a bit uneven so it makes it hard to keep balance. But my family enjoys it because it's nostalgic. read more

I want to preface by saying that I'm visiting from Atlanta and this was the closest rink to Sunnyvale. Based on the reviews I expected the floor to be on the smaller side and oddly shaped. But yall... this floor was straight trash and reflective of the music that was also being played. I don't mind concrete floors, but Aloha literally moved into this building, pulled up the carpet, saw concrete and said, "cool, sweep it then let em skate." The floor has so many cracks, dips, chips, pebbles, dirt and divides throughout that I truly couldn't phantom why any novice skater would even try to skate on that floor. It's a liability and obvious risk because if you roll over a crack the wrong way, or hit a pebble of concrete that chipped off? Down you go. Add to that the playlist selections that seemed to stick to fast paced non-skating music. Not every song is a skate song and unfortunately Aloha didn't get that memo. As a result, majority of my night was spent listening to my personal playlist as I skated around practicing my JB. And that was AFTER I submitted a dozen song request (they played 1 of them). I'm going to give their Wednesday adult night a chance and see how it goes since they'll have a DJ. Not sure if it'll be any better but I'm going to pray for the best. ** Aloha has some real potential. They just need to make a bit more investments to the place. Like PLEASE REPAVE the floor! Like ASAP. Matter of fact, do that FIRST. Then get some lockers that we can rent, and improve the playlist to something a bit more...hmmm rhythmic. ***Also, until they repave the floor, I'd recommend outdoor or hybrid wheels here. Do yourself a favor and fill out the form before coming. It's $15 to skate and 5 or 7 for the skates. They also have golf and lazer tag. I paid $7 for blades and I was given big chunky blades where the top wasnt even tight they should just get rid of those honestly. I had to ask for another pair and they gave me the right ones. They have lockers or open spaces to put belongings. They have practice side for beginners which is nice. The workers are really nice. They play good music, r&b, pop, old school. You can also request a song. You can be there from the time you arrive til the end which is good as well. I stopped at the snack bar for gatorade which was $3. Bring your own drinks and snacks. There are things I loved about this place and a lot of things I didn't enjoy. I'll start with the positives - The fact that there's a roller rink in San Jose - Music is good - there is a small skate run to the side of the Main rink for beginners to practice - they have both quads and inlines for rent The cons: - Air conditioning is terrible - it was so hot! - Rink is very small - During the adult skate night, there were portions where only "advanced backward skaters" could skate. I thought it was kinda bs to not allow people who paid for the full 3 hours to skate unless they were at a certain proficiency - There we're two leaks in the middle of the rink causing the rink to be shut down for two 10 minute periods - There are very limited food and drink options, and no alcohol Another thing I found strange was that they forced a friend of mine to buy a mask even though he was vaccinated. I felt he was singled out as they didn't make anyone else in our group so that. I love the concept of Aloha but I think it's time to improve. The biggest issue with this rink is that there are three (3) pillars in the middle of the rink. They are load bearing post so the option to remove them in the future is a definite," No." Unlike most roller rinks, this place didn't have their own kitchen so food and snacks were limited. Fun factor: it's a great place for beginners. It wasn't crowded and the place offered both roller skates and roller blades. DJ played a modest playlist covering oldies and new school. Another great highlight is that you can reserve a party room for private parties. The food served was domino's pizza. UPDATE***Alpha has all new skates! I had my daughters 13th birthday party there last Saturday. They added mini golf and laser tag. Mini golf is glow in the dark mini golf, cool! We had a 2 hour slot for our area. They have definitely improved since the last time we came! The party package was super reasonable with the exception of only allowing 8 guest per party then you have to pay individually. When you pay individually, you don't get the small perks of the party. Staff was nice, we had a good time. After our 2 hours were up, we just moved to another table and stayed. read more
