They tasted a bit like they were store-bought and slightly artificial compared to the rest of the shave ice. The fruit actually tasted like fruit, the colors were much more natural, and the whole thing felt less sugary than I expected. Kula says it uses organic ingredients and makes its syrups in-house without artificial dyes or flavors, which probably explains the difference. The ice was super fine, tightly packed and soft, the mango was good, but lilikoi was absolutely the star for me. Tart, tropical, and really good with the condensed milk. It was about $2 more than the other shave ice we had, so you are paying a bit of a premium for the organic, more natural approach. For me, it was worth it. Fresh, fruity, beautifully done, and a lovely first shave ice experience in Hawaii.

Plenty of parking in the lot & access to a public restroom. It can get busy but they're very quick with your food. Seating is outside under an umbrella.

We had over estimated our ability to walk the heavy kayak down to the beach and the owner was very kind to assist us by loading it in his vehicle, while at the beach he introduced us to the life guard because he was concerned as there were strong winds/currents that day, and he also came to check in on us and helped drive the kayak back. We were super grateful for the effort he put in because it truly was exceptional. The boogie boards and snorkel gear were good quality and easy to carry if you're going to a local beach. If you do want to rent the kayaks, just make sure you have the transportation figured out. When we returned we also had some shaved ice which was some of the best we had during this trip. Very refreshing!
