Hawaiian BBQ Mix plate - Flavor was fine but value wasn't great, you get more protein in the solo bbq chicken plate.

I have to disagree with all these negative reviews. It's not the best hawaiin food I've ever had but it's better than 2.5 stars (it's at least a 3.75, especially for the value of certain dishes). I chose this place because I was craving saimin and not too many Hawaiian places in the area actually have saimin, but this one does. I order that and some other items and was satisfied with everything. I would eat here again. To go order - Dec 2023 Hawaiian bbq mix plate - 7/10 BBQ chicken plate - 8/10 2x spam saimin - 7.5/10 Spam Musubi (2pc) - 7.5/10 Total $50 I'll start with the saimin since that's what I came for. I couldn't believe this was under $7!! You can get anything for that price, let alone a filling, yummy bowl of saimin (comes with 2 thin slices of spam, some cabbage, and a sprinkle of green onions). For the value it's an 8/10, for the flavor it's a 7/10. The noodles were chewy and cooked well, the broth is a tad salty but so was the spam. I wish there was kamobuko. But I'd order again. The bbq chicken plate was was also really good and came with more chicken than I expected (based on reviews). I like that it was just bbq chicken and they give you the teriyaki sauce on the side. The mac salad was decent too. I'd order it again. The aloha mix plate (bbq chicken, beef, short rib) was the most disappointing due to the small portion. Only one thin piece of chicken, one thin piece of beef, one thin slab of short rib. Flavor was fine but poor value. Spam musubi was fine but very average. Spam was thin but it was fried well. Rice was a tad mushy. Id still reorder since I can't not order spam Musubi, but manage expectations.

Food: Ordered a chicken combo plate. It's edible. The Mac salad wasn't great, the rice was cooked okay, the chicken katsu was still slimey for some pieces, and the BBQ chicken was lacking sauce and taste. I would much rather go to Ono Hawaiian for fast Hawaiian food or Tenkatori Karage next door for fried chicken! Service: Took about 10 minutes to make, which is expected. The lady was nice and more than willing to give us different sauces to try. Parking: Small parking lot right in front, not usually crowded. You should be able to find a spot easily!

Swung by to pick up a quick lunch and was very impressed. Friendly service and really fresh, delicious food. I had the chicken salad which is very large and heavy on very moist grilled chicken, with pineapple strewn throughout. Not sure what the dressing was but it was light and tasty. The only thing I missed was done sesame seeds which I've come to like on Asian chicken salads, but still very good.

22 for this plate? Rancid food. Portions were small, food was dry and cold. If I could get my money back I would. Do not COME!

Pretty upsetting that the portion size was 1/4 of what other locations provide. The meat was average but not too dry. The Mac salad was lacking some flavor. For the cabbage they literally put 2 pieces under the meat. I don't understand why they are so skimpy here. Maybe as a normal Hawaiian BBQ place the portion was ok, but for Aloha standards, this is definitely the worst one. Also, it was a bit more run down than other locations- felt a bit dirty. Will definitely not come back to this Aloha.

Dirty. The food is sub standard. The place is filthy. I'm a little embarrassed for eating here.

Dirty. The food is substandard. The place is filthy. I don't know why I decided to eat here. The Aloha up the street is better. L&L on Harbor is also better.

I'm so mad at this place we spent $52 and our 2 Hawaiian mixes were so empty I got one little lice of meat one little short rib and cold messed up chicken Katsura and the same for my husband except he got grilled chicken .. I'm so mad and all they said to do was go back n maybe ask if they can fill up the plate. Nothing like the pictures are advertised and I never write reviews .. they hardly even gave cabbage. Zero stars

Small portion compare to the other location.

The Mac salad was surprisingly delicious, I usually don't care for it but I ate the whole thing. The pork was a little tough honestly so I didn't eat more than a bite of that. The beef is super thin and tender, you can cut it with a fork. Chicken was nicely grilled and the teriyaki sauce had great flavor. Nice fluffy white rice underneath it all soaking up the teriyaki sauce. Good vibes inside, and good service. We will return!

We decided to get Da Spicy plate that had 2 styles of fried chicken (guava chili pepper so flavorful and crispy Korean chicken- not horribly dry) and Da Roots that had ahi katsu shoyu tuna and Korean short ribs. Both were really good and came with macaroni salad and poke! Honestly it's what you crave for the day to mix and match which protein you want with the 2 sides of poke and macaroni salad. Lots of food. Delicious flavor. Will come back again!

The chicken bone in thighs are HUGEEE, a 2 pc plate is definitely a sufficient portion. The fried chicken is some of the best, juicy inside and super flaky and crispy outside. The spicy garlic sauce is perfectly sticky and has great flavor. The mac salad is creamy and includes potato. I'd rate the CPC plate 6/5 - DA BOMB! We also got a spam musubi, which was delicious, good spam to rice ratio and yummy sweet sauce. 5/5 musubi. I also tried their DHK bowl which is a huge bowl including poke, kalua pig (or lau lau), seaweed salad, and lomi salmon. I liked that it was an option to try a little bit of everything. The ahi poke was super fresh, with minimal sauce. The seaweed salad was sweet and not very fishy. The kalua pig was tender. The lomi salmon was probably my least favorite because it was pretty salty. I'd rate the DHK bowl a 3/5. Their new menu seems to be focused on CPC chicken with only a few other options. Also note there's no indoor seating, and they only have a couple of picnic tables outside.

The skin on the chicken is crispy, the actual meat of the chicken is juicy but not flavorful at all. No salt. Because of this, the chicken gets a five out of 10, with so many great chicken places here in Orange County, and in California for that matter, there is so much competition and other alternatives that you can get that know how to properly brine and seasoned their chicken meat. An online reviewer on YouTube gave this one of the highest praises, which set my expectations probably too high, but, I stand by my review on the Chicken. Also, the macaroni salad is extremely bland, and seems like a waste of calories. The shredded cabbage that the chicken sits on top of, which is one of my favorite things to eat in Hawaiian places and places like this, as the cabbage really soaks up all the chicken drippings and everything, was very bad tasting. It tasted like the bag that it was obviously stored in. Obviously very unfresh and unappealing. I understand, it's hard for a restaurant to keep their cost down, but keeping cabbages on hand and slicing them daily and putting day dots on them is not a hard thing. I worked at restaurants and this is very lazy of this establishment. The cabbage is horrible. This also led to the coleslaw being not worth ordering for four dollars. A big letdown and a big disappointment. Also, I ordered both kinds of chicken, and I couldn't tell the difference between the Peppa Chicken and the other. Also, we got the food to go, and they rapid tightly in paper bags, which makes it sweat, and it ends up being less crispy than it normally would. Again, you guys are a chicken place and you guys should think these things through. Yelp, only allows you five star ratings, and I would give this a 2 1/2 stars out of five stars.
