    Chinese Delight!
    Stanley R.

From the moment I walked in I knew this place, the look, the smell , the staff. I have been eating in this exact Chinese restaurant since I was a kid, over 50 years ago. Not "this place" but one exactly like this place is in every American city. You know the food, you know the menu (you always want to go For the combo specials)! That's what we did. I got the Mongolian beef, I comes with all the "works"; Egg roll, Fried rice, Soup, Fried wontons My friend had the chicken chow mien, and the works. We both left with take out containers holding half our meal! It was delicious, I started eating and I forgot to take pictures of the menu or the food! Golden Dragon is my new fav

They had the best service. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with a smile. They came to our table to make sure we had what we needed. We were treated with kindness. The shrimp rice was my favorite. The hot tea was good on a cold night. They had a variety of dishes to try.

Terrible food truck. Ordered via text. Arrived 35 mins later when they said my order would be ready. The food truck guy said he never checked his phone and didn't start on my order until I stood by waiting for 20 minutes. Ended up cancelling and not ordering this unauthentic "Chinese food". Seek other better restaurants!! Don't waste your money.

Shrimp chow mein that tasted like feet

The best part of the meal was the free peppermint after my $50 meal to mask the gross taste in my mouth. I'm not sure what happened to this place but the quality definitely seemed off. We used to frequent this location about 20 years ago and it was so good! Last time we came here was probably about 6 years ago and it was good. Definitely not the experience we had the other night. The shrimp chow mein didn't taste good at all and looked like it was sitting for a while. All the fried appetizers seemed stale. Our chicken was okay. Nothing to brag about - It was edible at least .The waiter neglected to mention the soup just came off the kettle and was piping hot and burnt my tongue. There was only and another party in the restaurant at dinner time. Maybe that was a sign? There is a fly buzzing around our food while we were eating. I hate to say this but we should have gone to Panda Express.

Nice plate of food. Chowmein, Teriyaki Pork and Fish

The chicken wings to start were super delicious. I was impressed how crispy and juicy it was as well as flavors. The rice with the sauce that comes with it is addicting. 4.8/5. The Pad See Ew was probably one of the best in Costa Mesa. It had so much flavor it was ridiculous. 5/5. The haunaman fried rice (I think that's how you spell it) was next tier. The sweet sausage and umami flavors of the dish it was gone quick. 5/5. The pad Thai was sus at first. They don't do chicken. Just tofu and shrimp. I guess that's the "authentic" way of making it back in the motherland. I got it anyways and it did not disappoint. So good. 4.9/5. Overall I would come back here. Taste is hit and miss with the combination. The family loves the fried chicken, not too much on sticky rice. Same with the curry sauce. Nice steak but the roti is not dry. Interesting combination with fresh tasty Yellowtail ceviche with Shrimp crackers. Will try different menu next time.

They cook it right there and then put it on a sizzling salt block on your table to finish cooking) And you can't beat the location So, when my south coast plaza advisor sent me an invite to a Gucci event held at this amazing restaurant, I just had to go. The ambiance is top notch, 5 stars just for the atmosphere alone Extremely clean Amazing bar and drinks Great staff Now, to their private room where this was hosted. Gucci, was so kind to give us all gift bags But the real spoiling came from AnQi bistro! Every station we went to, had a different food and drink pairing At the first station they had Truffle sashimi with caviar Paired with their tumeric drink Next up Lavender mojito Paired with lobster and shrimp dumplings Next was Grilled octopus and papaya salad Paired with a drink called -spring breeze Last up Chive and leek dumplings Paired with lychee cloud to drink (This was actually the only thing I could have because I don't eat seafood. And it was a 10 out of 10) Everyone was raving about the food and how beautiful the interior is. I really can't stress how nice of a place it is. It has a very laid back, upscale and trendy vibe This is one of my favorite places to eat at south coast plaza, hands down. And it's conveniently located inside Bloomingdales. It doesn't get better than that

Walking in felt like stumbling…read moreinto an enchanted forest at midnight, think fairy tale vibes, moody lighting, and decor so gorgeous I actually stopped mid-step to take it all in. Truly, whoever designed this space deserves their own Michelin star. Now... the food. The shrimp dumplings were fine. The shrimp were a respectable size, no complaints there, but "fine" and "memorable" are very different zip codes, and these stayed firmly in the former. The garlic noodles arrived looking a little lonely (small portion) with noodles that were slightly past their ideal moment of glory, accompanied by 4 whole shrimp. For $55. I'll let that marinate. The filet mignon dumpling was probably the highlight of the food lineup, genuinely decent, though it leaned a touch salty, like the seasoning had big ambitions. Still totally edible, just not the refined experience the price tag implies. On the bright side, the service was solid and shoutout to my server who steered me toward a pear martini that was, honestly, a little gem of a drink. They clearly know their cocktails. Bottom line: come for the atmosphere, stay for a cocktail, and maybe grab dinner somewhere else after. It's a gorgeous spot for pre-drinks and photos, just don't arrive hungry with high culinary expectations. Your wallet will thank you.

After pursuing some options in the Newport/Huntington Beach area, I decided to make 8:30 pm reservations for Starfish in Newport Beach! I have driven past this location so many times, and was excited to finally try it out! Upon entering, I was impressed by the moody interior with beautiful lighting and a gorgeous wooden door. The hostess was kind and quick to offer us a two-top bar style seating table that was close to the kitchen. We appreciated that we were sat so promptly, and we actually enjoy sitting close to the kitchen so we could see all of the deletable food options! We began our meal with two rolls as appetizers - the Buddha roll and the Sushi Nigiri Plate. The Buddha roll was a tofu-based vegan roll with a fun touch of toasted coconut flakes and two delicious sauces layered on top. Both my boyfriend and I loved the roll and would absolutely order it again. My boyfriend loved the sashimi plate and stated that the seafood was fresh and was higher in quality compared to your average sushi restaurant. Moving onto our main course, I ordered the Thai Green Vegetable Curry with coconut rice (which our server mentioned was different from the regular white rice because they cook it with coconut milk instead of water) and my boyfriend was craving another sushi roll, so he opted for the Shrimp Tempura Roll. The Shrimp Tempura Roll was pleasantly different from regular shrimp tempura rolls, because it contained crab meat and shrimp tempura. We noticed at this point, that all three of the sushi rolls that we ordered used rice paper instead of seaweed, and this unique twist to the sushi rolls enhanced them! I LOVED the presentation of the Thai Green Vegetable Curry. Something about a large stem of basil cascading over my food makes it extra fun to eat! In all seriousness, this was one of the best curry's I have had, and the coconut rice enhanced the entree. For our beverage selection, the cold sake that we hoped to try was out of stock, so we requested hot sake instead, which we sipped on through the meal. Pro Tip: the hot house sake was only $10 which is an amazing price point! Finally, it came to my favorite part of the meal, dessert! My boyfriend was leaning towards the Scratch Cheesecake, and I was leaning towards the Mango Pudding. We asked for our server for her recommendation, and she stated that the Banana in Fillo Dough or Scratch Cheesecake were her top two options. Based on this, we opted for the Scratch Cheesecake. It was good, but I probably wouldn't get it again. In my mind, I think of a cheesecake and immediately crave a thick slice of a classic New York style cheesecake. However, this was served in a glass with a graham cracker crumble as the base, and a cheesecake-style mousse layer above, with poached asian pears as a topping. While this wasn't my favorite part of the meal, it was still a fun twist on a classic dessert with a lovely presentation. Next time, I think I'll follow my heart and try the Mango Pudding. Between the food, ambiance, wonderful service, and elevated experience for an affordable price point, we will definitely return!

Know where you're aiming to go. - There is a sister restaurant named Mono Yama two doors down ...cue to me walking in between aimlessly because my friend recommended the place and all i recalled was "momo". That said, the people were super nice in both places. You can tell it happens often. We went right as it opened, and we got seated right away. The menu is via a QRC on the table. We ordered 3 things - vongole pasta. Previously they offered it uni but this one had claims and shrimp. We also got the pesto and the calamari. Calamari was crispy but it also was slightly too salty and seemed to be a lot of batter. The calamari pieces were small. The pesto pasta was okay, but the pesto wasn't the traditional pesto. I couldn't put my finger on it but it must've been the dashi. The udon was cooked well though. Soft, definitely not al dente. This vongole was the biggest miss. It had a taste that we also couldn't figure out, but it was not enjoyable to eat. We left the meal very dissatisfied. The friend I went with, who has gone before, also agreed it was disappointing. As someone who hates to waste food, we were very close to leaving nearly half of each dish there. My friend ended up taking it back. Later that evening, we both were feeling off. Idk, perhaps it was a coincidence. In the end, it was a truly sad experience.
