I had to try out this local restaurant after seeing it on Restaurant Impossible. It seems that after the show they made great improvements. The interior fit the theme of the restaurant, it gave very Hawaiian tiki vibes. The menu wasn't very big but they did have various options to choose from. I went with the kahlua pork. It had great flavor and was very tender. I liked the macaroni salad but it was a very small portion. The servers were all very nice and the food didn't take too long to come out. I liked the food but it wasn't the best I've ever had.

I absolutely loved the food. I went in on a Thursday afternoon, as I was coming in a wonderful person boasted about "Da Grinds Mix" and I got it! It was the best pulled pork I've had. Also the spam masubi?! Amazing! I had to come back for the food again and I did on a Saturday. Definitely recommend this place.

Everything has improved since I was here about a year ago. I had the Kahauna salad, shrimp was good. Love the guava cheese cake! Music not too loud. Service prompt and friendly. Lunch crowd not too busy. Not sure about nighttime.

We have been here a few times before Restaurant Impossible came and it was pretty good. But a few days after the renovation, name and menu change ( name is now Aloha Island Grille) we thought we'd try it again. First of impression: it's clean and you definitely get the island vibe, there was a counter in the middle of the front so we were not sure if we ordered there or sat down but a girl saw our confusion and gave us menus and told us to sit wherever we would like. Sat down and we're immediately brought plastic table ware and cups. Menu was small with only a few choices, no smaller portion options or lighter eaters or for kids. We decided to get a couple things & share. Food came out in about 15 mins... Pork Katsu was tasty. Nice crunchy light breading, pork not super juicy but then again it was pretty thin. Katsu sauce was great! This was served over rice topped with sautéed greens. Also got the poke wrap which was alright. Not much flavor for having poke, seaweed salad, edamame and rice. All could have used some seasoning but it was all fresh and done to order. Overall we had a pleasant experience, got to talk to the owner who came over to see how we were liking things and he was very nice- he also treated us to the Carmel chocolate mousse! Would recommend trying it out, I know we'll be back to try some other things on the menu and hope they bring back some more of the authentic Hawaiian "plate lunch" style they had before.

Ok had to try to this place because of how close it is to our house and just this featured on Restaurant Impossible...came here with low expectation and walked our well satisfied. The inside decor was just as it was featured on the tv show. It is super clean inside and loved the modern effects and atmosphere. The service was awesome and our waitress was outstanding! Even though she had I my worked there for a few days she was 100% all in and you would've though she was one of ten owners based on how well she treated us. For food we decided to travel around Hawaii and try a little bit of some dishes. For starts we had the lumpia and musubi...these were both just ok to me and nothing special. For entrees we had the loco moco and chicken katsu. Both dishes had good flavors and while my wife liked hers more than I did I felt like the dishes fell a little flat. I will say the burger was seasoned well and while the brussel sprouts were unique it had nothing to do with Hawaii. I would've loved a side of mac salad instead:...the 4 star is really because of the grind that the owner is enduring. BTW maybe Thai sounded critical if I was to rate this island flavor in the whole treasure valley it would be 5 star! Nice job keeping to some basics and doing them well...

The worst "Mac Salad" I've ever had. Tastes like vinegar infused pasta.

We should've taken it as a sign when NO ONE was there, that we should've left. The atmosphere is actually really nice, and it's clean on the inside. However, the food was hands down, the WORST Hawaiian I've ever had. First of all, their menu was shorter than what is pictured on their advertising. My husband got the Pork Katsu- and the Katsu was burnt. And everything was SWIMMING in some sort of teriyaki sauce. He did substitute the coconut rice for plain white sticky rice, so I cannot speak on that. I got the Island Fried Chicken. First of all, the Mac salad was horrible. I know you can make Mac salad out of any kind of pasta, but this was made with huge rigatoni type noodles- rather than the elbow macaroni. This Mac was so vinegary, I couldn't eat it. We both left our plates more than half full. We ordered a spam musubi, and never got it. Then had to proceed to tell them to take it off the bill. How they forgot to bring us part of our order- when we were the only customers there, is beyond me. Also, they don't scoop the sides as they pictured. It's ladled on the plate. Will never return here.

My husband and I have come a few times to this place for the last three or four years. It's always consistently good and service is great. I usually either get the pork or chicken. For Hawaiian restaurants, I think this one is the best in the valley.

I found Nampa's best kept secret! The new Island Grill on the BLVD. I thought it was good, but now it is great! The decor fits the theme. Tiki style with ska and regae music playing in the background and most importantly clean. The menu is simple, but has a good array of items. The amount of food you get for the price is generous. I had the Musubi and it was the best I've had in or out of a restaurant and about the size of a burrito and very flavorful. The Adobo pork, WOW! SOooo tender it melted in my mouth and the Hawaiian Mac salad is as good as it gets. The server was very friendly and attentive. The wait was less than 10 minutes. I am definitely coming back! Can't wait. Only drawback is closed Sunday and Monday(I have to wait a couple of days to go back)

I have never had such awful service from a restaurant before. I have never been spoken to or accused of stealing food before. I am in absolute disbelief. I am 8 months pregnant and had gotten a gift card and paid additional with cash because they called and said their card machine was down so I would have to pay with cash or check. I get there and their Pepsi is out so she asks if I want something else and then all of a sudden they are using what seems to be a personal can instead of the fountain. The lady helping me doesn't even give me the right change back I had to tell her. I asked if the sauce and everything was in the bag more than once. I get home and I am completely missing my entrees. I call and she said she needs to check the camera insinuating I stole the food that they never gave me. She asked me to repeat my order 2 times, they should have my order and know what I ordered!? They call back all of a sudden she doesn't have time to check the cameras and tells me to come back making up excuses after excuses. Says she is going to call the owner ivan but doesn't know if he will answer because he is a truck driver. I said I'd like my meal replaced on another day I'm not able to drive all the way back there (20 minutes) and she was coming across like she was trying to physically fight with me come in come in and we will talk. it was awful! The foam box the lumpia is placed in is melted on the side from what she said was the warmer... so that's how you give customers their food? A total of $50 + and we get appetizers cold, no sauces and no food for dinner. I called very upset and she is being hostile and even admits it saying she's being this way, apologizes and then starts trying to fight with me again . Cussing on the phone too I'd never been spoken to like that before EVER. Especially from someone at a RESTAURANT you get better service at Jack in the box at 1am or McDonald's. Keeping in mind I drive there to pick it up, have to make sure I have cash. And then get home with no food. Then it goes from we will deliver to they can't cause there was an emergency with the other employee and she was by herself but you could hear the additional employee in the background talking shit. I said take your time check the cameras and then all of a sudden they can't check the cameras. She sounded and was coming across like she was high or on something not making sense and being extremely hostile accusing me of taking food I was never given in the first place the whole reason I was calling. I ask for the owners phone number this lady is so mean. his name is supposedly Ivan and is a truck driver again, so I could speak to him about my service and picking up our meal voucher another day and she gives me an out of service phone number. DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL!! Had to order other food once I got home since we got no entrees and were so hungry. This woman's name is Janette By the way, I'd stay clear and far. I would never want someone like this working at my restaurant or establishment.

After seeing this on restaurant impossible we had to try it out. The service was good. It was quiet there. Food came out fast and It was good food what we had. Give it a chance. They could use some help with the cleaning dept"bathroom" but from what I've seen, everyplace in Nampa could use the same....., but other than that it's all good! Aloha and Mahalo

New created menu. Sorry... Not good.

New menu. Not good. Voiced to who I believe is the owner. My husband ordered the Loco Moco... DISGUSTING!!! Coconut flavored rice for Hawaiian food... Not a good choice. Gravy was thick and cold and clumpy, the hamburger patty was rubbery. The egg was cooked perfectly. He ended up sending his food back, he had one bite of the patty, I tried a piece of the patty... We still got charged for that plate. I ordered the poke wrap... It was supposed to have pineapple and Aioli sauce, and sushi rice, um... Neva have either one, had fish chunks, that was great but no flavor, just fish. Poke should be in a mixture, this was just chunks of Ahi. Don't get me wrong I am impressed by that. I've had sushi at places here in Idaho that grind the Ahi up (gross). Basically the wrap was not worth $14. I posted a picture of the menu, you can see what should be in the dishes. Coming from Hawaii and proud of it I am disappointed. Whoever created this menu for them did not do good by them or this native Hawaiian. I don't think we should have been charged for the Loco Moco. It wasn't worth $15... Oh, and you would neva find grilled brussel sprouts in a Loco Moco in Hawaii. Oh no. That's a sin to try and change a local favorite. The decor was nice. The waitress was AWESOME!! Oh they should have Tobasco. I'm glad they have Aloha Shoyu now. After leaving we went to eat somewhere else. After paying $30 which included tip.

The walls feature cute artwork, the facility is fully wheelchair accessible, and the parking lot is a decent size with easy parking. Service shines thanks to James. He was prompt, very welcoming, and even offered to get my pup a bowl of water. The speakers play a unique, diverse variety of music. The Drink: I tried the raspberry margarita. It was good but definitely alcohol-forward rather than flavor-forward. If you prefer a fruitier cocktail, keep this in mind. The Food: Being from Oklahoma, I have high standards for BBQ and cornbread. Unfortunately, the cornbread was a major disappointment. It tasted raw, underdone, and lacked that classic, rich cornbread flavor I was craving. For my main, I ordered the chipotle peach barbecue sliders. You get three toasted buns piled with moist, smoky pulled pork tossed in a chipotle peach BBQ sauce and topped with fresh coleslaw. The pork itself had a great smoky depth. The baked beans missed the mark for me. I expected a Texas-style BBQ bean, but these had a thin, smoky, light tomato sauce flavor that tasted a bit too close to canned tomato sauce.
