The meat was cooked and flavored well albeit a little on the dry side. The selection of bbq sauce is amazing but most too sweet for my taste. Ironically, the hottest was vinegar based and not hot at all. I poured it over everything. I ordered the brisket, burnt ends, Pork ribs and short rib. I liked the short rib the best. Just enough far to keep it moist and good seasoning. The sides needed more salt. The cole slaw lacked any kind of seasoning whatsoever and the French fries were stale. Why a 5 star rating you may ask? Well the bbq, interior, and the young man behind the counter (Michael) was engaging, professional and went above and beyond most customer service personnel when I called in a mistake in my order. I'll be back!

Delicious BBQ especially for Idaho. Pretty cool little spot too, I'm betting it's awesome when it's warm out and the patio is open. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. We placed our order at the counter and they bring the food out to you. This is definitely the best bbq I've had since leaving Georgia. I can't say it's quite as good as some of the Carolina bbq spots I've been but it's close and it's great to find a taste of home out this way. The potato salad was amazing so I highly recommend you make it one of your sides.

This place is pretty good. Probably the best your are going to get in Idaho. We got a larger order of burnt ends, ribs, brisket, pulled pork, Mac and cheese, and cheesy potatoes (aka funeral taters) It was all good. For me the star was the burnt ends and ribs. My kids went to town on the pulled pork. The cheesy potatoes were also pretty good. This is a great place to go and have a drink and eat some good food or take it home and eat the owner is super chill and willing to chat. Great service. Will be back.

Catering must be their specialty because the restaurant seems to be more of an afterthought. Prior to ordering, we were warned of a long wait due to a large order ahead of us. We ordered the nachos that came out looking like they were straight out of Napoleon Dynamite's microwave. They dumped a can of cold nacho cheese and some half frozen shredded Velveeta on top of a pile of chips and called it good. The pulled pork was fine but would have been better if it hadn't been served like leftover turkey scraps three days after Thanksgiving. After turning down a to-go box on an obviously uneaten entree, the waitress asked if everything was ok. The honest answer was responded to with "ya, I don't know what they're doing back there, --(oblivious laugh) , thanks for coming in". Unfortunately, we'll never get back the outrageous $42 spent on this half hearted attempt at a meal but won't contribute to war crimes like this in the future. #MakeNachosGreatAgain

While in downtown Nampa, we wanted some barbecue. We stumbled upon H&M BBQ. The food was exceptional! I ordered the 3-Meat & 2 sides plate and she ordered the brisket tacos. I was pleasantly surprised with the tenderness of the meat and the flavor of the food. You don't need a knife to cut the meat. Everything was delicious. You can pick your own BBQ sauce, but I didn't care for the Carolina one. All the other sauces were tasty. The food here was better than Texas and Kansas City BBQ restaurants I have eaten at before. You definitely do not want to miss H&M BBQ if you come to the Boise, Idaho area. We will be back again for more!

It was about 1:45 pm on a Friday, and the place was fairly crowded. We were sat at a small booth for two, not my favorite table, but understandable that they would want to save their tables and booths for four for larger parties. It's very loud, hard to talk, so in tha sense the small booth we were in, set apart from the main seating area, was better for my wife and I to talk. Our server was Yulia, and she was delightful. Very nice, efficient, and attentive. Great service! We both had the classic burger, mine with the sharp cheddar it comes with, my wife sans cheese. 100% Wagyu beef, and cooked very nicely at medium. The bun was large and soft, very tasty and great texture. The fries were delicious; crispy and well seasoned, just great. They have a fry sauce that tasted like it had a bit of horseradish. I really liked it. Prices are very reasonable. In fact, I just had a burger at a nice restaurant in downtown Boise last week that had a smaller patty and bun, and cost $3 more. We will definitely be back to Holy Cow.

Within seconds, I received a text that my order had been received, but not confirmed, and to watch for a confirmation text. After 30 minutes, I still had not received a confirmation text, so I messaged asking for an approximate time. The reply stated they were "slammed" and that my order would be ready in about 30 minutes. After another 45 minutes, I still had not received any communication from them, so I decided to walk over to check on my order, hoping that it would be ready. The first thing I noticed was that there were not a lot of customers inside. I informed the server behind the bar that I was there to pick up my order, and she went back to check. When she returned, she told me that there were no pickup orders. I showed her the email with my order number and told her that I never received a confirmation from them. She went back into the kitchen, then came back and said they didn't have my order, but could make it while I waited - about 10 minutes. I reluctantly agreed and waited. When I got my order, I asked for a few extra cups of sauce. The server was put off, as if asked to perform an overwhelming task. Needless to say, I left the establishment with a less-than-favorable taste in my mouth. 24 hours later, I received a text from them that my order was confirmed and would be ready to be picked up. I texted back that this was 24 hours late and to cancel the order. The reply was that their texting service was unavailable, and to call for questions. I then replied to the confirmation email, hoping that would get through to them. No such luck. The reply I received said that delivery had failed - that their email box was full. I will say that the food was good, and that the server was mainly friendly. However, the whole online ordering system needs some serious revamping. I hope that Whiskey River will take this review as constructive criticism so that future customers will have an easier, smoother online ordering experience.

The entire interaction was awkward and made us hesitant to stay. An older gentleman did come out and try to be friendly, assuring us that was enough time for one drink. However, the bartender's sour attitude persisted. When we asked to see the menu, she replied with a highly disgruntled tone and an irritated look, saying, "We're low on a lot." That was our cue. My husband and I exchanged a look and decided to leave. We were made to feel so unwelcome and unwanted that it actually hurt our feelings. The sign said to seat ourselves so we grabbed a booth. A young woman came over immediately and brought us menus and water. Inside is very homey and family friendly. There are booth along the sides and back of the restaurant and tables for four as well as bigger round tables that would seat 7-8. Next to us was a young family of five kids and the wife was pregnant. We then sat for longer than we should. Finally, our server, Julia B, came over. She was very friendly and nice. She took our order: my wife wanted the Salisbury steak and I had the Pacific Omelet with hashbrowns and pancakes. My first clue that things were not as they should be was when Julia asked my wife how she wanted her Salisbury steak cooked. Hmmm. The food took longer than it should to come out, but that was OK because we were in no hurry. When it did come out, my wife and I both looked at the "Salisbury Steak" and realized that, in fact, it was not what it was supposed to be. Instead, it was an actual steak. On the other hand, my omelet, with bacon crumbles and Swiss cheese, was good, my hashbrowns were extra crispy as I asked for, and the pancakes, which the cook forgot to make but that came out pretty quickly anyway, were pretty good. My wife ordered one of their giant cinnamon buns to go. We didn't see Julia for a time, and so my wife flagged down another server and asked if what she had was Salisbury steak. As expected the server said no. Julia came over shortly after. I said, "My wife ordered the Salisbury steak." Julia said, "Yes?". I said, "That's not Salisbury steak." She then realized her mistake and apologized repeatedly. What my wife received was the Iron Skillet Steak. Not sure about the misunderstanding. Julia offered to make the Salisbury steak to go, but my wife, being very nice and considerate, told her she'd be OK with the Iron Skillet Steak. Julia then comped the cinnamon bun, which I appreciated. She was trying to make things right. And again, she was very nice. We think we will give Mr. V's another chance at sometime in the future.
