I am a huge fan of Hawaiian bbq and teriyaki...I've had a LOT of it in my lifetime...this was the most disappointing meal ever as far as Hawaiian bbq and or teriyaki. First of all...the meat was absolutely flavorless...it was grilled beef strips. Teriyaki is marinated or grilled with a glaze. You can't just serve plain meat with two tiny cups of teriyaki sauce on the side and call it teriyaki. Not only was the teriyaki garbage but the rice was mushy crap ( which I will show a little compassion regarding since it was almost closing time ) but the gentleman I spoke with on the phone was a dick when I called in my order. I understand it was close to closing but when someone reiterates how appreciative they are that you're still willing to cook and everything, no matter what your issue is, you can atleast put a tone in your voice that doesn't invoke the suspicion that you'll spit in the order cause you're irritated about cooking. I may go back to try the moco loco but will probably go to the Monroe location. Fyi, it still says "Taco John's" on the door of the restaurant lol....Jesus! read more

The building itself is small and doesn't have much seating, but they serve fast and there's a drive-through. The take-away is their pulled meats are amazing! Yeah, I've seen the bland taste reviews and I could see that, but they do that so you can choose your flavor. Just be sure to ask for extra if you like it soaked. read more

Spokane is lacking in the Teriyaki department, not to mention the Asian food department. Hawaii isn't Asia obviously, but Hawaiian food comes from an Asian background. Aloha Island Grill is amazing. The teriyaki chicken isn't chopped like the stuff I'm used to, but the flavor is on point. Mac salad is great, rice is cooked perfectly. Even the sauces they offer are all fantastic. I can't wait to try everything on the menu. The service was very fast, even though it was lunch time and they were having a bit of a lunch rush. When I want to feel like I'm surfing the gnarliest flavor waves the island of Spokane has to offer I head to Ahola for a small plate of teriyaki beef with double Mac salad. Don't be fooled, you will have to grab a seat and wait a couple minutes for your food because they do a crazy thing of cooking it up fresh when you order so be prepared to sit back and enjoy the smells of the island. Did not at all like my meal. I had the teriyaki chicken which tasted like it had been sitting in the steam table for hours. Also, they use only thigh meat, I prefer white meat. As for the sides, the rice was cold and the fruit salad tasted canned. Sorry, but I will not return. read more

Okay, I want to be fair so here goes. Being from Hawaii I was very disappointed with what the menu offered. Now I did not try there Garlic Chicken, nor the Katsu. Which by the other reviews was very good, so I will have to go back and try those out. What I did have was the Kalua Pork. I thought I was getting Kalua Pork with rice. Instead I got Kalua Pork with Bar-bque sauce. Mind you it was very tasty but It's not Anything like Local Kalu Pig I'm use too in Hawaii. So yes, I was expecting something else. Not something I could have bought anywhere else. The second thing that Happened was asked the guy what was in there Hawaiian fried rice. And he told me bacon, celery, onion. I went on to inform him then it's not HAWAIIAN FRIED RICE. Anyone one from Hawaii know's we like to put a lot of ingredients into our fried rice...example; Pork Char siu or Spam or Lop chong, Portuguese Sausage, green onion, fish cake (pink), Maui onion or sweet onion, egg, worstershire sauce, Aloha Soy. The guy told me the guy who owned, " Aloha island grill". Is from Hawaii. And fried rice is made all kind of ways. Well yes, I agree but then don't call it Hawaiian Fried Rice! Just call it fried rice! Because I can tell you if that's all the ingredients in your fried rice I know many, many HAWAIIAN PEOPLE who will agree with me...that's not Hawaii's kind of fried rice! But I will go back and try the other meals. Please if you call it Hawaiian Authentic food, make it truly authentic...That Kula Pork taste exactly like pull pork!!! read more

This is my favorite place in Spokane wa to get chicken. Aloha Island Grill makes the best teriyaki chicken, their macaroni salad is super creamy and the rice goes perfect with the teriyaki chicken. I had it just today and it was nice and soft. I would prefer it there were more Aloha Grills. In My opinion you should get the teriyaki Chicken, it's the bomb! read more

Went here tonight. Looks like something you'd see on diners drive ins and dives and the reviews sealed the deal. We stopped in while we were in town and were not impressed. The side of the restaurant where you order, all the lights are burnt out and the employee said the pop machine was out of order. He was able to serve soft drinks to us from the drive thru server though. As far as entree's My wife and daughters got the #2 which is the teriyaki chicken plate with rice and Mac salad. I got the #3 which is the Katsu chicken plate with rice and Mac salad. The teriyaki chicken was cold and looked grey like a dead squirrel and my katsu chicken was fried to death and tough to chew due to the over fried exterior. Oh, and the price for this food is ridiculous!!! I can't speak to the quality on the daily for the locals , because we don't live here, but I can say that first impressions make a lasting impression and we won't be back! read more

This restaurant is a hole in the wall, but has such quality and yummy food! Their teriyaki chicken is tender and flavorful and there mac salad is amazing. while my wife likes to eat here, this place is so unsanitary I refuse to order anything instead while she eats I contemplate calling the health dept to inspect the place. To start with the menus are filthy the moment I picked mine up I couldn't put it down fast enough it was so covered in filth, and the two other menus were no cleaner. The rice is a soggy mushy lump served with an ice cream scoop that has been soaking in milky white water for who knows how long. There was a fair amount of rice spilled on the table the sever played with then proceeded to see e food without gloves or even washing her hands. When the server mistakenly served my wife the fruit salad instead of macaroni salas, she just scooped out the wrong salad back into the pan of fruit salad. I ordered the teriyaki chicken bowl with sticky rice. The portion was very small for the price! I was shocked to see how little you get for the price. Very disappointing. Also, the macaroni salad had way too much mayo. The side dish lacked good flavor too. I wouldn't eat there again. I did not get a receipt when I charged my order. I called the manager, Errol, who stated you have to ask for the receipt. If you don't ask for the receipt, you don't get one. They should post that policy on the window. I have never been to a business or store that didn't give you a receipt with a credit card charge! Ridiculous! I assumed the worker put the receipt in the bag with my order at the drive thru. The manager said mailing out a receipt is not an option. I would have to come all the way back to the restaurant to get it or have it emailed. read more

Horrible place!!! Called in an order and When I arrived they had no idea who I was or that I had even placed the order. After placing my order for the second time the cook asked if I wanted to switch from garlic chicken to teriyaki because it was more convenient. The bathroom was dirty and didn't have any hand soap. An obvious concern considering the employees use the same bathroom and therefore cannot be washing their hands properly. The soda fountain was overflowing and leaking onto the floor. The rice was cooked with too much water and turned to mush in my mouth and the small portion of chicken had a charred/burned flavor. After explaining my disappointment I was refused a refund. the food at aloha is good at a fair price. my issue is the fact that they nearly always are out of one of their sides. tonight it was the fruit salad. last time it was the macaroni salad, time before that was the pea salad. i was unable to read the drive thru menu because the light is out. window girl told me if i couldnt read it i was welcome to come inside as the lighting has been out for a while. after i paid for my meal i asked how they could be out of fruit salad at dinner time on a friday and why was the menu light out. she told me if it was an issue to bring it up with the owners. i decided to post my review on yelp instead. is anyone listening or making enough sides to make it through dinner? read more

Worst place ever! We decided to this restaurant last night and what a mistake that was. To start they have two Coke Freestyle machines which offer 100+ flavor options when stocked properly. You know how many had syrup? 1......orange soda for everybody! Beyond that they were also out of pretty much everything we asked for sauces, ketchup.....you name it. All of the tables are bar height so not kid friendly. There was one high chair in the building but it was caked with dirt and dust indicating that it is never used because the kid would be so much lower than everybody else at the table. Next, the food......we ordered 2 Aloha burger combos, one for me and one for the kids to split because they don't offer any kids menu choices, and a teriyaki chicken rice bowl. All of the food was undercooked, my burger was the worst as it was still bleeding. We couldn't even eat it. The combos came with chips but they were out of their selection and only had jalapeno potato chips left (perfect for small children). We are so disappointed with our experience, we try to support local businesses as often as we can but I do not think that we will be able to give this place a second chance. read more
