    Loco Moco (sans Mac Salad)

Tried Hula Pot this week - it was pretty good! We didn't order from the hot pot side of the menu, but they have a wide array of offerings for their hot pot items which we will definitely try next time (I've had hot pot before, so I know their offerings are good!). I forgot to take photos of some items because we were so hungry, but we had an order of Spam Musubi for our appetizer, I got the loco moco without the Mac salad (I'm not keen on mayo) and my partner got the Kathi short ribs (which did come with Mac salad). I got a jasmine green tea to drink. The service was fast, our waiter was very kind, and the atmosphere was great - I loved the relaxing mint green color palette, the Bob Ross channel on the tv behind us, and the food was very well priced for large portions. I imagine the hot pot portions are also robust. Would totally recommend!

Nice place in CDA for hot pot or takeout! My family and I stopped in for a pick up order of Chicken Katsu, Kalua Pork, and a side of white rice with a fried egg. When I walked in, I noticed the restaurant is very well kept and the booths are so cute. The staff greeted us warmly, promptly took our order, and our food was ready in no time. While I liked my Kalua Pork dish, I did add some Chicken Katsu sauce to the pork for more flavor. The Mac salad was good, but it had too much pepper for my liking. All in all, I'd go again! It would be fun to dine-in for hot pot next time.

The food, the chicken and short ribs were dry and flavorless. The service was great. Our friend had fun grilling the lamb in the miso broth but over all, I would not return because the food did not stand out.

This place was sooo good! I did the hot pot menu. And they give you A lot of food! The breath and the taste was there. Specially on a cold night this definitely hit the spot. The lady that was working was taking care of the whole restaurant. I didn't see anyone helping her and she did a great job and helping us when she could. She had great costumer service. The place is big enough has lots of tables and hot pot tables. Clean place also

As my husband and I walk in we were greeted by our awesome server, Jordan. She knew the menu and even knew what we were asking for when we said portagee sausage and POG. She checked in with us multiple times to make sure we didn't have any questions or need anything else. She had a bright smile and was the perfect representative showing aloha spirit in everything she did. We first ordered the manapua and let me tell you it was made just like the ones from back home! I ordered the kahlua pig which was perfectly seasoned and tender. No need for knife! My meal came with a side of white rice, perfectly sticky properly cooked, and mac salad which could have gone toe to toe with my cousins back home. Bring your appetite because these guys don't play around! Neither me nor my husband could finish. I would say worth the price but honestly it was very inexpensive considering how well made everything was and how it reminded me of home and family. I would definitely have paid more just to get that feeling again while eating their food. My husband got the teriyaki chicken and it was exactly the same as my uncles back home. I could have cried but we were in public! Full of flavor and I just want to say that this is not your smothered teriyaki chicken...it's Hawaiian style and marinated all the way through, as it should be! My husband also got fried rice, which was also well seasoned and a good portion of mac salad. To compliment our meal I had a Hawaiian Sun POG (passion fruit, orange, and guava) and hubby had lilikoi (passion fruit). Everything was perfect! I can't wait to try their laulau and lomi salmon if they get some in! Homemade. Hawaiian. Broke da mouth! Mahalo

Today's visit was no different and was deliciously fresh and yummy. I planned on getting a poke bowl and when I walked in, one of the specials of the day was a wasabi ahi tuna poke bowl...cha-ching! That's exactly what I got and with a side order of 2 crab cakes. The wasabi ahi tuna poke bowl was simple and fresh, yet packed with ahi tuna and the perfect amount of rice. Poke bowls are my go-to for a protein packed meal that's healthy and leaves me feeling full. Now the crab cakes!? If you've never tried them from here and you're a crab cake lover, then do yourself a favor and order some. They were perfectly cooked with a crisp outside and stuffed with a good amount of tasty fresh crab. The 2 sauces of my choice to go with the cakes are: traditional tarter sauce and then take your lemon slice and squeeze the juice on top and mix it in and the Cajun tarter sauce--it has great flavor with a little bit of spice. My pics don't do justice--the flavor is where it's at! My roommate got his favorite Shrimp Po Boy Sandwich with fries and he was a happy camper. I will say, their fries are authentic and actually taste like real potato. We arrived at lunch hour and the ambiance was definitely busy, which is normal. Service was great and food came out fairly quick. Every employee I saw stayed busy, either helping people, cleaning, or chef'ing it up.

We were greeted and sat immediately with menus. We got hot tea while we looked over the menu. I noticed right away they had lots of options and many rolls to choose from--even the pickiest of eaters are sure to find something! For appetizers, we ordered edamame and Rock Shrimp. Edamame was perfectly salted and warm. The tempura fry on the Rock Shrimp was spot on. The yum yum sauce was decent but lacked flavor and season imo..may have been too much mayo in this batch but all good, because the shrimp was amazing all by itself. The tempura was nice and airy and the shrimp was still juicy and tender. For entrees, my roommate ordered the Chicken Katsu and his mom and I feasted on the Sushi & Sashimi for 2, which comes with 10 pieces of sushi, 15 pieces of sashimi, chef's special choice roll, and subbed our Tempura shrimp roll for a Rock n Roll. Man oh man! When the sushi arrived, it was presented beautifully and truly looked like art. Not to mention, it was SO DELICIOUS! Every piece and every bite was amazingly fresh. Hats off to the sushi chefs for doing a fabulous job. The ratio of fish to rice was on point! My roommate said the Chicken Katsu had a good cook to it and that he really liked the sauce it came with. Unfortunately I did not get our servers name and not so sure she had a name tag on. However, she was patient with us in regards to when we ordered and attentive throughout the meal. We came at a good time as the restaurant filled up by the time we left. I will definitely be back for more sashimi!

Our favorite was the Coeur d'Alene Roll, but the other two were also very tasty and unique. The Cowboy Roll has filet mignon on it, which was a new spin on sushi for us. The Blue Mountain Roll was actually shaped like triangles and had very good flavor and texture to it with just the right amount of roe mixed in. It's tough finding good sushi this far inland from the ocean, but Shiki sure raised the bar for this area. It will be our new go to for sushi here.

We parked in a parking structure shared with a resort and other businesses. Once we parked getting to the restaurant was like going through a maze. Once there the ambiance was a nice simple elegant. We sat in the bar We went for happy hour. Our waitress was nice, seemed a little rushed. We wanted to sit by the windows. 1. There was five of us and they would not let us move one chair so we could sit by the windows....fire issue. We squeezed into a corner booth....UNCOMFORTABLE.. If you have more than four people in your party choose a different restaurant. 2. We placed our drink and food orders. We had reviewed the online menu....we were ready. I asked to have the hummus and olives first. The drink order came relatively quick. The food order took forever. 3. We were getting hungry. One of my companions asked a young waitress serving bread, if we could have some. She told us she didn't have a ticket for us so she would look into it and get back to us..... WTF. I relayed, we were sat and placed our food order before the table you just served bread to twice now. The bread waitress walked away. She did come back...I tried the orange bread.....it was orange frosting poured over a bun. 4. The party of seven that sat after us got their appetizer 20 minutes before we finally got our food (45 minutes). The hummus and a lives was served with our food.....APPETIZER. She brought our bill quickly.......:,and we waited.....waited.....waited. Finally my companion got up went to the hostess and requested to pay our bill. Both companions continued to state , We don't understand last time the service and food was great.
