Also got their Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich. The clam chowder was lukewarm and just ok. Not sure why they have the name "Chowderhead???" Nashville hot sandwich was REALLY GOOD! They served it with a "pickle pico" and that was ingenious and really worked! Chicken was moist too. Went to the counter to pay and I HATE IT when restaurants do this, but it defaults to 20% or 25% or 30% tip!!!! This place is a super casual diner with grunge music and you want me to tip you 30% for taking my order and dropping off the sandwich??? Yes I know there is a button to touch to manually enter another amount but this is wrong! I usually tip between 20 and 22% but I like to do it because I choose to, not out of manipulation. We went on a Saturday at around 1 pm, prime lunch time. It was pretty busy, we had to wait in line for about 20-30 minutes. There is pretty limited seating inside. We were seated at a booth, and knew right away what we wanted. We got the cheese steak and a bowl of clam chowder. I will say it was disappointing you have to pay extra for it to be cut in half. They don't give utensils, so you are unable to do it yourself and is forced to pay the extra fee, which we ended up doing. The sandwich was good and looks like a lot of meat, but there was actually more bread than meat. The flavors were good but I wish there was more filling in the sandwich. The clam chowder was also good, it had good flavor and I enjoyed it with the sandwich. Overall I would come back again but I would come at a less busy time. read more

The ChowderHead is not a real fancy place. It's in the Courthouse area. They seem to have quite a few customers. It's kind of a noisy place. For lunch I had a prime rib sandwich. It was good. This was our first time here. We arrived Sunday around 1215p and it was a good thing we didnt delay. This place filled up quickly and there was a wait to get in. We ordered the Turkey and Bacon with a side of Clam Chowder, and Cheesesteak with Tomato Basil soup. Let's start with the Turkey and Bacon which came with tomato, sprouts, and a pistachio pesto. This was delicious! The pesto paried perfectly with all of ingredients and I love sprouts on anything. The clam chowder was rich and creamy and I loved how chunky all the ingredients were. So tasty! As for the cheesesteak, it was fresh and had a great flavor. We were hoping for a little more filling for $20, but food costs have gone up so we undertood. When we walked in you immediately got that cool divey feel and I loved their old school music choice. I didn't catch our servers name but she was super sweet and friendly. I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich with a cup of tomato basil and my friend got the meatball sub. My grilled cheese was so cheesy and the bread was perfectly toasted. The tomato basil soup was hot, creamy, and had a good season besides the tomatoes themselves. My friend said he enjoyed his meatball sub and that it had a great flavor and that the bread was awesome. He just wished it was a tad bit hotter, temperature-wise. Overall, it was an enjoyable first visit and we'll be back again. My friend really wants to try the Chop Cheese next time. I was recommended to visit this place by a coworker. She had mentioned that they have really good Philly cheesesteaks so I decided to read the reviews and got intrigued and decided to visit this place. Coming in on a Thursday night, it was quite busy and much busier than I expected. Most tables were already taken. They have barstools, regular tables, and booths. The ambiance lot of artwork and had a very interesting feel. Service was incredibly friendly and nothing to complain about. The music really gave this place some character which went really well with all of the artwork I decided to get the Philly cheesesteak and an order of tater tots which came to a little over $20. I also got a side of their smoked onion ranch sauce. I will say the Philly cheesesteak is not the best I have had but was pretty decent. It was flavoured well and cooked well. He was very nice and was working very hard, but it was at the expense of the quality of service. To emphasize, not his fault. They had a full restaurant and were just understaffed. - Ordered quickly, but then food took 45 minutes to be served. Delicious and worth the wait, but 45 minutes is a long time for cold sandwiches! - We felt uncomfortable asking for anything because our server was so busy. Our table was not wiped down when we sat down, so we wiped it ourselves. No silverware at first. One napkin for two people. Room temperature water, no ice. No status such as "your order is coming soon." We should have spoken up, but he was handling so many other things. - One would argue that we deserved this lukewarm experience, since we came at the lunch rush, so we will only blame ourselves for coming to lunch at lunch time. Next time, we will arrive expecting that it could be a long-ish wait for the food.
